Microsoft's been doing pretty well recently - but either way I'd love to see this concept put into further consideration. It's a bit risky since it's totally different from the norm, but if they get it to feel natural enough I think it would be quite a hit. Thanks for posting this video mate.
@dan1986ist Kinda. Cairo was the codename for 2 different OS's, a cancelled OS & NT 4.0. NT 4.0 got most of the cancelled OS's technology though. One that was missing though, was OFS. OFS was the first, (of many,) WinFS prototypes. The major difference was that OFS was an actual filesystem, (hence the, "FS,") but WinFS ran on top of NTFS, (with the, "FS," in WinFS standing for, "Future Storage," instead of, "Filesystem.")
@POKEMONMASTER260 Also, so people don't get confused, as WinFS was an add-on for NTFS, it itself is not a relational filesystem, but it makes NTFS one. Basically, when the video says, "WinFS the power of a relational filesystem," they mean, "WinFS the power of an NTFS add-on to make it a relational filesystem."
Longhorn Build 4074 has a version of WinFS if you were to google for a copy to test out in virtualbox or another partition although WinFS is/was incredibly buggy and had performance issues which is why MS scrapped the idea and incorporated some of the existing, working aspects into things like SQL server, Windows Media Player, parts of Windows Live Essentials.
Things like libraries, jump lists, search box and other parts of Windows Vista/7 were also part of WinFS.
No. It was going to be in both Vista and Windows 7, but was cancelled. There was a Beta 1 & Beta 1 Refresh version released for the costly MSDN subscription, but it was only for Windows XP SP2, & I assume SP3 also. (SP3 did not seem to be around then, so that's probably why they only say SP2, if it does work on SP3.)
Fuck your proprietary MAC BS, your MAC don't have shit on my Linux box. Might I remind you, the core operating system of MAC is LINUX, yes a PC operating system is running your MAC! "Quality, Security, Fast, Beautiful, Innovation"? Only because its running on a LINUX core you ignorant MAC bastards, my LINUX desktop can be 'Themed' to look, sound, feel like ANY operating system, there are thousands of MAC OSX and WINDOWS themes, mine currently looks/sounds exactly like Windows7.
Might I remind you, Linux is just the kernel. Mac OS X uses a hybrid kernel (Mach/BSD). Also, the core operating system is UNIX, more specifically DARWIN. Macs can be 'themed' as well. However, part of Macs appeal is the unique UI, I didn't buy a Mac to make look like Windows7. If Linux is so great, why theme it to look like a completely different OS--a crappy one to boot.
Macs are extremely versatile. They can run Linux programs natively using the X window system.
Desktop effects you want?... search youtube for "Compiz Fusion" and you'll see what LINUX can do. BTW you forgot one word "Versatile", my LINUX box will run any *NIX or windows program, this includes windows video games, all while running as my office network router/web server in the background! But wait, MAC is'nt that versatile to do all these things.
What LINUX cant do is run MAC programs, and why would we want to run MAC proprietary bullshit lmao. keep your piece of shit MAC and and PC slander to yourself! My LINUX box will run circles around your MAC any day, and its FREE.
All this looks cool and all but truth is, most of it won't get implemented. It looks cool but it's not practical and not user friendly.
I'm a Linux fanboy but I know that MS has good developers for their user interfaces. I was really impressed with how well everything was integrated in W7.
"All this looks cool and all but truth is, most of it won't get implemented. It looks cool but it's not practical and not user friendly. "...and you know this because you have actually used it?
No, I haven't used it. But I've taken a few courses on interface design. For example, the 'Movie Picker' screen is totally useless. It gives you no information at all except for the small thumbnails. Also, there's no good reason why there are 4 piles to look through.
Like I said, Microsoft has good interface designers. If these designs were good, you would have seen them in Vista or W7.
WinFS natively recognizes different types of data, such as picture, e-mail, document, audio, video, calendar, contact, among others; rather than just bytestreams as with file systems.
Microsoft will be never able to regain Mac users, unless Apple quits the game. M$ has to upgrade BIOS to EFI, Register to better technology, and so further WinFS will get M$ more problems ("bugs") than any other File OS.
Longhorn is an abbandoned project man, vista only has the appearance of Longhorn, and some of it's workouts, but do you know why longhorn was an abandoned project? I don't think so! Windows 7 is the finish product of what Longhorn started. Vista is an unfinished product and super-unstable, but for Microsoft fans it was the 'paradise'.
Kernel 6 is just the version of the service that uses the actual SIP (sistem idle process) but the system of process servicing and distributing is a little different from Kernel 5 to 6... but from 6 to 7 it is way different, because it has a more stable SIP and a much better SVC hosting program, (smaller memory dumps, and a less chance to actually get an error report, because ... less chance to get errors, amigo... and Windows 7 is the moment's OS but not the future's OS...that's Windows 8...
I can't deny I just have to dip in to their argument for a few cents,
1. The count for OO download is not the number of people who are actually using it. For instance, once user can download it 10 times for his computer, but still, he is just ONE user, maybe because he reformatted, bought an new computer, or updated the software.
2. If you talk about Microsoft's monopoly, don't tell then after that Microsoft isn't forcing everyone to use Windows, you're just contradicting what you just said...

It was suppose to be a server like data base filing system for you home computer, it was fast and perfect concept. But it was only a concept that failed, if it did work your computer would of been faster and all your data would have been arrange in a clean way.
I think WinFS already exists based on what they show in the video... But instead of being part of Windows Vista and/or Windows 7, it is part of the Windows Live products line up.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You have no clue what you are talking about...sigh. The current search in Vista and Windows 7 is slow like hell, try indexing your whole drive and answers seldom popup instantly. WinFS is based on totally different technology, much better performance and reliability.
"Now, Microsoft is rapidly losing market share of the operating system market to Apple's Mac lineup, brilliant advertising campaigns, and, quite frankly, better and more reliable technology"
Don't let anyone tell you that you're a Mac fanboy you hear!!!!
This video is just some promotional video from MS that somebody attached some captions to. It doesn't provide any information.
Also the video creator has a few facts wrong. Development of WinFS has nothing to do with either Vista or Win7. It was started in 2003 and shelved in 2006 when it was decided to not include it in Vista.
Ballmer has indicated that WinFS is still under development but that is about all that has been said about it. Right now it isn't in Win7.
I don't think Microsoft will ever release it. In fact, they're working on it since 1990 so that's close to 20 years and they just can't come up with a solution yet.
I think a third-party will do it first and in a much better and powerful way than Microsoft will ever do...
It's because WinFS was in fact a remake of an other file system that was called OFS that was supposed to be in the Microsoft Operating System codenamed Cairo that was, also, never released.
OFS was then canceled and replaced by to Storage+. then RFS, then Exchange Webstore (that experienced severe features cut, then Outlook LIS (features cut). It's only then that WinFS appeared but its idea came from OFS in the first place which was developed in the early 90's.
I like Windows XP. You can go to System in Control Panel and under "advanced" options select the "best performance" option. You can also do the msconfig thingy in "run" but that's pretty advanced.
You can do the same thing in Windows 7, you just press the Windows key, serach performance and then you open the one that says Adjust the Appearance and Performance options.
Snow Leopard will blow windows 7 away ... people say "ohh wow, windows 7 is soo much faster than OSX".. well, they have something coming becoz Snow Leopard will blow them away BIG TIME ...
Tch.. Fanboy.. Then stay with your apple.. No one orders you to like windows.. It's only an OS.. For me both the OS are great.. I use 4 OSes in my house.. Win 7, Vista, OS X, and Ubuntu.. And all of them gets the job done..
all OSes have plus and minuses.. Like OSX are better at graphic designing, multimedia, etc.. While PCs are best at gaming.. It's up to you to choose which OS suits you most..
sum up seconds and you get minutes, sum up minutes and you get hours, sum up hours and you get days.
If two things get the job done with the same quality, I'll choose the one that gets it done faster.
If I only have to do a thing once or twice, hey, who cares about a few seconds or even minutes? If I have to do it more than once or twice, if it will sum up... it changes, after the first time 3, then 6 and so on, that's not nice.
I use Debian, Windows XP and play with Win7 by the way.
Before I will switch to Windows I have a few requirements:
Windows must run ALL my favorite Linux applications and games. Give me intelligent Package Management that wont break my system, like Linux does. Real security, like LInux; No viruses and no spyware, and no requirement that I install security software just so the OS keeps working properly. I don't want it to get slower over time. Windows must become genuine FOSS.
You are an idiot, as evidenced by your idiotic comment.
"tell me one thing - if is linux soooo greeeaaaat like you say, why it has still only 1-3% of OS share?"
Its called Monopoly you moron. Not that you'd know anything about Microsoft's continuing anti-competitive practices. Try reading the ECIS document on it.
Microsoft's extortion of Melco group, a Microsoftie in the FCC... and that's only this week !
by reasonless insulting me you are proving you are the idiot, not me.
yea, of course, talk bullshits about microsoft's monopoly and so.... blah blah blah... MS does not force anybody to use their OS, or does he? the point is that you dont have spend weeks to setting windows to make it work and you dont have to recompile the core hundred times to make your graphic card or network card work and so on.. HW manufacturers do not support linux, not MS's thing
what? i have bought 4 notebooks till now and no one had preinstalled OEM OS (in fact they had FreeDOS, because i think there is some issue that notebooks must be sold with an OEM OS, but FreeDOS was here for 1 CZK and it's purpose was just to fill that OEM issue).
i never tried to buy a notebook with linux because i do not want linux in my notebook.
you obviously missed the point (no surprise for me).
the FreeDOS was there only for one reason - to fullfill the need of selling notebooks with preinstalled OS. of course i formatted it immediately and installed windows on it, which i have as a retail cd.
exactly.. what purpose has a computer with totally and absolutely safe and virusfree and perfectly engineered OS, when you cannot run apps and games on that?
and those wanna-be linux variation of software like Photoshop, Nero, Office etc. are just ridiculous
I have plenty of games and apps... I guess you completely missed my original point.
Almost no Linux users use Nero because most use K3b or Braserro (because they are better). And of course being a complete ignoramus, you don't even realise Nero is available for Linux.
You can run Photoshop on Linux... The GIMP is an excellent app for those who don't need Photoshop.
Office ? Very few people actually have a specific *need* for MS-Office. That's why OpenOffice is so popular.
hey, i have linux, i tried four distribs and tried many of linux software. so do not tell me that K3b is better than Nero. well it is available for lin now, but it wasn't when i needed it (few years ago).
GIMP is the biggest crap i have ever seen. it's interface sucks and you just CANNOT do with it same things as simple as you can in Photoshop.
OpenOffice popular? :-D you made me laugh, kid.
you are just ignorant fanatical linux fan. it is like religion for you, so you do not consider facts
I'm really not sure why you have such a hard on for Nero. Most Windows users don't think much of it, let alone Linux users who don't like trialware that isn't as good as what they're already using.
More than 100 million downloads and counting is not popular ? Makes you laugh does it ? Hmm ok then. (These figures are available from the OpenOffice website).
They do not of course include Linux distributions which come with OpenOffice already installed.
93.5% of OpenOffice downloaders are Windows users.
openoffice is terrible. i had so many problems with it.
one of them - try to open a webpage in a browser, select all, copy and paste into office write. it looks terrible, it flows over the write's page's border and so on... and now, do it in MS word. it looks almost the same as the original webpage.
and i am used to loads of tools and function MS office 2007 has and i it really helps with working and spares time.
There's nothing nonsensical about it. You don't do your homework before shooting your mouth off and end up looking like an idiot. You are one, this much is well established.
and your numbers 93.5% are win users... where did you get that?
and if it really is true, it is caused because in linux distribs the openoffice is already included, so linux users do not have to download it, so it is logical that win users make biggest percentual share. and they download it not because it is better than MS office, but because it is free
Where did I get the numbers ? From the OpenOffice website, which I mentioned already. And the numbers are downloads only, they do not and cannot include Linux distributions, which OpenOffice doesn't keep track of. I mentioned this already as well...
OpenOffice is popular, what a surprise, you don't like that. Too bad.
Perhaps if I tell you Firefox is popular you'll laugh at that idea as well...
You "explained" nothing. You made a comment that made no sense based upon figures you didn't bother read and didn't know about previously.
Next, you're attempting to shift the argument from simply a point made about its popularity to your opinion about its quality (which is purely your subjective opinion). That is a logical fallacy.
And your comment about Firefox is up there with the most stupid and idiotic comments you have made yet. And also sidesteps the point... again...
"you are just ignorant fanatical linux fan. it is like religion for you, so you do not consider facts"
Ah yes of course, I must be an ignorant fanatical linux fan... an unsurprising attack considering your previous comments. You haven't smartened up at all.
And judging by your extremely ignorant and uninformed comments, I would suggest that it is you who does not have much use for facts.
If I were you I'd quit before I made a bigger idiot of myself.
if you are really 37years old, you have to be retarded or something, because you act like a 13yo teenager.
you insult me just because i hit the nail on it's head and tell the truth, that linux is useless for most PC users and windows are way better in their versatility and all best software is made for win.
your logic is - you don't like my linux, you are an idiot. ok. i am an idiot like the 93% of PC users who use windows. you are the only right.
well i think it depends on the point of view. from my POV, irony is in your words. also agression and stupidity.
well :) if it is all fallacy, tell me then why overwhelming majority of PC users use windows and not linux, even it is for free.
oh yes, it is because of the Big Bad Microsoft, right? he denies people using linux and he orders HW manufacturers to not support linux. it is absolutely clear to me now.
arguing with you is like arguing with a fanatical christian
I've used Ubuntu.. and i must say it's a great OS .. and that which is been given for free.. I thought i lost Photoshop.. But GIMP is awesome.. maybe a point better than photoshop
...running a crap PC ..1600 duron, fx5200, 1G memory and it;s faster than VIsta...and I had Aero enabled (after driver update) but for optimal performance a better CPU and graphic card is recommended.
i'm experimenting with ubuntu...its super probably the fastest but it has lots of filesystems..have to research more
A fast OS with a creaky old filesystem that can't deliver for modern needs = a crappy OS (unless of course you have an Intel i7 processor, in which case even the worst pile of shite can appear fast... and you can bet your bunnies Microsoft is counting on that).
Win FS would suck. Unless you are an event manager I don't see how you could use that technology.
Most people want to just get online and check their email, edit a couple pictures, movies, share DVDs, etc. My Grandmother won't be able to figure this WinFS shit out, and if she can't do it, then its not simple enough to be practical.
WinFS (if it existed) would indeed suck. But semantic technology itself does not suck, its great. And you can't understand how it makes everyday computing easier unless you're using a system that has it (like a Linux system with KDE 4.x with Nepomuk etc). Semantic technology is backend stuff: Your grandmother doesn't have to figure it out, its there to make your desktop more intelligent for grandma. :)
ive seen demos of the beta version. ... its just the same as Vista man, with some basic features which could easily be programmed to be added to Vista. not interested in windows 7 atm. looks like it'll be like what 2000 was to 98.
reminds me of windows 8... the real thing!

I think WinFS already exists based on what they show in the video... But instead of being part of Windows Vista and/or Windows 7, it is part of the Windows Live products line up.

I think this includes both Windows Application like Messenger and Web Applications like Mail, Skydrive etc.

winfs is just this ---> open a notepad, type lol in it and save the text as test.txt
now open the start menu, type lol. serach will be able to look inside your text and see the word lol, thus displaying the test.txt in the results.
it's basically a layer that allows for special indexing which already exists inside vista and windows 7.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
You have no clue what you are talking about...sigh. The current search in Vista and Windows 7 is slow like hell, try indexing your whole drive and answers seldom popup instantly. WinFS is based on totally different technology, much better performance and reliability.

KawazoeJapan 2 years ago
This video is just some promotional video from MS that somebody attached some captions to. It doesn't provide any information.
Also the video creator has a few facts wrong. Development of WinFS has nothing to do with either Vista or Win7. It was started in 2003 and shelved in 2006 when it was decided to not include it in Vista.
Ballmer has indicated that WinFS is still under development but that is about all that has been said about it. Right now it isn't in Win7.
Kloran27 2 years ago
I don't think Microsoft will ever release it. In fact, they're working on it since 1990 so that's close to 20 years and they just can't come up with a solution yet.
I think a third-party will do it first and in a much better and powerful way than Microsoft will ever do...
KawazoeJapan 2 years ago
HELLO??!! Have you been sleeping? Parts of the WinFS WILL come in to Windows 7, like the library in Windows 7.
xtelevisie 2 years ago
You're : 1 some how knows nothing about 7 or 2 an idiot. WinFS as nothing to do library in 7 and you cannot have parts of a file system.
KawazoeJapan 2 years ago
The library's in Windows 7 is something that has been in the beta of WinFS.
And WinFS is NOT an actual filesystem, it's just an addon to NFTS
xtelevisie 2 years ago
It seem that you are really badly informed since you don't even know that WinFS was canceled 3 years ago...
KawazoeJapan 2 years ago
WinFS was not an actual anything, it was vaporware.
Keruaran 2 years ago

ContaminatedFilm 2 years ago
HELLO??!! "WinFS" was a FILESYSTEM.
The filesystem Windows 7 uses is still NTFS.
The filesystem known as "WinFS" was, and is, VAPORWARE.
Keruaran 2 years ago
WinFS was introduced in 2003 and the idea and first working on it began in 2001... i can only wonder where did you get your 1990...
rypoush 2 years ago

AcePilot101 3 years ago
You can do the same thing in Windows 7, you just press the Windows key, serach performance and then you open the one that says Adjust the Appearance and Performance options.

kanzaki8607 2 years ago 3
I know that all of em get the job done but OS X does it just that little bit better!
aaroninclub 2 years ago
all OSes have plus and minuses.. Like OSX are better at graphic designing, multimedia, etc.. While PCs are best at gaming.. It's up to you to choose which OS suits you most..
kanzaki8607 2 years ago
but the only difference in speed is a matter of seconds (2 - 3 seconds faster) and what will u do with those extra 3 seconds huh?
skoushik333 2 years ago
sum up seconds and you get minutes, sum up minutes and you get hours, sum up hours and you get days.

Vanostaajen 2 years ago
Ya.. But i want all my applications and games to work :(
skoushik333 2 years ago 5
Before I will switch to Windows I have a few requirements:
Windows must run ALL my favorite Linux applications and games. Give me intelligent Package Management that wont break my system, like Linux does. Real security, like LInux; No viruses and no spyware, and no requirement that I install security software just so the OS keeps working properly. I don't want it to get slower over time. Windows must become genuine FOSS.
Unreasonable expectations ?
No less unreasonable than yours.

"tell me one thing - if is linux soooo greeeaaaat like you say, why it has still only 1-3% of OS share?"
Its called Monopoly you moron. Not that you'd know anything about Microsoft's continuing anti-competitive practices. Try reading the ECIS document on it.

by reasonless insulting me you are proving you are the idiot, not me.
yea, of course, talk bullshits about microsoft's monopoly and so.... blah blah blah... MS does not force anybody to use their OS, or does he? the point is that you dont have spend weeks to setting windows to make it work and you dont have to recompile the core hundred times to make your graphic card or network card work and so on.. HW manufacturers do not support linux, not MS's thing
rypoush 2 years ago

"microsoft's monopoly"

"MS does not force anybody to use their OS"
Tried to buy a notebook or netbook with Linux on it lately ?
Keruaran 2 years ago
what? i have bought 4 notebooks till now and no one had preinstalled OEM OS (in fact they had FreeDOS, because i think there is some issue that notebooks must be sold with an OEM OS, but FreeDOS was here for 1 CZK and it's purpose was just to fill that OEM issue).
maybe you are buying from a wrong seller..
rypoush 2 years ago
Oh wow FreeDOS ! What joy... Isn't that just what we all want... not.
And of course, you didn't answer the question.
Keruaran 2 years ago
i never tried to buy a notebook with linux because i do not want linux in my notebook.
you obviously missed the point (no surprise for me).
the FreeDOS was there only for one reason - to fullfill the need of selling notebooks with preinstalled OS. of course i formatted it immediately and installed windows on it, which i have as a retail cd.

Keruaran 2 years ago
exactly.. what purpose has a computer with totally and absolutely safe and virusfree and perfectly engineered OS, when you cannot run apps and games on that?
and those wanna-be linux variation of software like Photoshop, Nero, Office etc. are just ridiculous
rypoush 2 years ago
I have plenty of games and apps... I guess you completely missed my original point.
Almost no Linux users use Nero because most use K3b or Braserro (because they are better). And of course being a complete ignoramus, you don't even realise Nero is available for Linux.
You can run Photoshop on Linux... The GIMP is an excellent app for those who don't need Photoshop.
Office ? Very few people actually have a specific *need* for MS-Office. That's why OpenOffice is so popular.
Keruaran 2 years ago
hey, i have linux, i tried four distribs and tried many of linux software. so do not tell me that K3b is better than Nero. well it is available for lin now, but it wasn't when i needed it (few years ago).
GIMP is the biggest crap i have ever seen. it's interface sucks and you just CANNOT do with it same things as simple as you can in Photoshop.
OpenOffice popular? :-D you made me laugh, kid.
you are just ignorant fanatical linux fan. it is like religion for you, so you do not consider facts
rypoush 2 years ago
"so do not tell me that K3b is better than Nero"
It is. If Nero is so good, why aren't Linux users using it ?
Keruaran 2 years ago
they are not using it because they are linux fanatics and never tried nero. and, of course, nero is paid software, so they cannot afford it :)
rypoush 2 years ago
I'm really not sure why you have such a hard on for Nero. Most Windows users don't think much of it, let alone Linux users who don't like trialware that isn't as good as what they're already using.
Keruaran 2 years ago
"well it is available for lin now, but it wasn't when i needed it (few years ago)"
K3b has been available for years. You never needed Nero at all.
Keruaran 2 years ago
"GIMP is the biggest crap..."
If you don't like The GIMP, use Photoshop then...
Keruaran 2 years ago
"OpenOffice popular? :-D you made me laugh, kid."
Keep laughing... "kid"...
Keruaran 2 years ago
openoffice is terrible. i had so many problems with it.
one of them - try to open a webpage in a browser, select all, copy and paste into office write. it looks terrible, it flows over the write's page's border and so on... and now, do it in MS word. it looks almost the same as the original webpage.
and i am used to loads of tools and function MS office 2007 has and i it really helps with working and spares time.
rypoush 2 years ago
I'm not surprised you had problems with it, you seem to have problems with basic facts as well.
Keruaran 2 years ago
:)) that is your way you argue? telling nonsensical bullshit?
i bet you are single and you live alone, because i think noone can take it with you..
rypoush 2 years ago
There's nothing nonsensical about it. You don't do your homework before shooting your mouth off and end up looking like an idiot. You are one, this much is well established.
Keruaran 2 years ago
well have you noticed something? you insulted me with nasty words many times, while i did not that even once. so tell me who is more adult here?
and, if you are trying to piss me off, i have to disappoint you. someone brainless like you don't have a chance to do that
rypoush 2 years ago
This is coming from someone who's very first comment to me was a trolling insult that mentioned something about masturbation...
Fail.
Keruaran 2 years ago
it was not an insult, but you have obviously no sense of humour at all.
and i also think i wasn't that far from the truth, was i? :)
rypoush 2 years ago
and your numbers 93.5% are win users... where did you get that?
and if it really is true, it is caused because in linux distribs the openoffice is already included, so linux users do not have to download it, so it is logical that win users make biggest percentual share. and they download it not because it is better than MS office, but because it is free
rypoush 2 years ago
Where did I get the numbers ? From the OpenOffice website, which I mentioned already. And the numbers are downloads only, they do not and cannot include Linux distributions, which OpenOffice doesn't keep track of. I mentioned this already as well...
OpenOffice is popular, what a surprise, you don't like that. Too bad.
Perhaps if I tell you Firefox is popular you'll laugh at that idea as well...
Keruaran 2 years ago
i think i explained those numbers you well, if you read it.
yes, OO is popular for it's zero cost. it is like that. if you cannot afford a card, you buy a bicycle. :)
Firefox is popular, yes. mostly for 13-17 years old teenagers, because "firefox is just cool and who doesn't have it, is not cool".
but if you are advanced (= lazy and you require comfort) user, you will something with more functions and capabilities.
rypoush 2 years ago
You "explained" nothing. You made a comment that made no sense based upon figures you didn't bother read and didn't know about previously.
Next, you're attempting to shift the argument from simply a point made about its popularity to your opinion about its quality (which is purely your subjective opinion). That is a logical fallacy.
And your comment about Firefox is up there with the most stupid and idiotic comments you have made yet. And also sidesteps the point... again...
Keruaran 2 years ago
"you are just ignorant fanatical linux fan. it is like religion for you, so you do not consider facts"
Ah yes of course, I must be an ignorant fanatical linux fan... an unsurprising attack considering your previous comments. You haven't smartened up at all.
And judging by your extremely ignorant and uninformed comments, I would suggest that it is you who does not have much use for facts.
If I were you I'd quit before I made a bigger idiot of myself.
Keruaran 2 years ago
if you are really 37years old, you have to be retarded or something, because you act like a 13yo teenager.
you insult me just because i hit the nail on it's head and tell the truth, that linux is useless for most PC users and windows are way better in their versatility and all best software is made for win.
your logic is - you don't like my linux, you are an idiot. ok. i am an idiot like the 93% of PC users who use windows. you are the only right.
rypoush 2 years ago
"you act like a 13yo teenager"
Perhaps you should read back on your own comments and consider the hilarious irony of your own words.
"i hit the nail on it's head and tell the truth"
In your own little dream world that's so very 2001.
"linux is useless for most PC users"
Another fallacy.
"all best software is made for win"
Another fallacy.
"your logic is - you don't like my linux, you are an idiot."
No, you are an idiot because you cant even visit a website to check some figures.
Keruaran 2 years ago
well i think it depends on the point of view. from my POV, irony is in your words. also agression and stupidity.
well :) if it is all fallacy, tell me then why overwhelming majority of PC users use windows and not linux, even it is for free.
oh yes, it is because of the Big Bad Microsoft, right? he denies people using linux and he orders HW manufacturers to not support linux. it is absolutely clear to me now.

kamikazeOS 3 years ago
A fast OS with a creaky old filesystem that can't deliver for modern needs = a crappy OS (unless of course you have an Intel i7 processor, in which case even the worst pile of shite can appear fast... and you can bet your bunnies Microsoft is counting on that).
Keruaran 2 years ago
Win FS would suck. Unless you are an event manager I don't see how you could use that technology.
Most people want to just get online and check their email, edit a couple pictures, movies, share DVDs, etc. My Grandmother won't be able to figure this WinFS shit out, and if she can't do it, then its not simple enough to be practical.
Antdog5 3 years ago
WinFS (if it existed) would indeed suck. But semantic technology itself does not suck, its great. And you can't understand how it makes everyday computing easier unless you're using a system that has it (like a Linux system with KDE 4.x with Nepomuk etc). Semantic technology is backend stuff: Your grandmother doesn't have to figure it out, its there to make your desktop more intelligent for grandma. :)
