Why are so many people saying they're glad the lady hit him? What I see her is a lady who's first obcene, and then violent. She could have simply told him to stop, and then walked away. Maybe if she had walked away and he chased her, it might be justified, but this is assault. It's sad that women hitting men is still a effective comedic technique, it enforces little-noticed stereotypes of both sexes, that men are strong enough to take pain, and that women should practitioners of that pain.

I do believe in middle ground. I don't however, believe that the answer is to sit around doing nothing. I believe that we need to balance power between the parties for the time being, all the while searching for and promoting politicians who can straddle the line for us.
Take these current congressional elections. Democrats get the White House. Republicans get the House of Representitives. The Senate is devided almost 50-50. Either the parties work together, or nothing happens.
