I'm not douchey but i'm one of those over sensitive kind of guy. I learn to live with not having a lot of friends and pick my battles with some people. If he's really young, it will take him quite some time before he learns the amount of damages he had done. I hope that tipping point happens sooner than later. You've tried your best. Like he said, it's his personality. Hopefully it will tone down a bit when he gets older.
