I just saw the movie on HBO. There was that one scene that made me uncomfortable, yet I kept watching because I wanted to see how the father's character would deal with all of the happenings. I liked what I saw from Dad.

When it comes to intersex and transgender people, it is up to youtube employees to determine whether or not the chest being shown belongs to a man or woman-- and they're never consistent with this gender policing because they're not educated.

This movie was so emotionally honest. I love foreign films because they open our eyes to the twisted truths in our society. I liked how Alex decided to not get a surgery or take the pills anymore and accept herself. Oh and Alex WAS played by a female.
Because culturally we're more hell-bent on denying we have any problems at all instead of doing the right thing and trying to fix them. Few US films are honest, gritty, daring, and effectively draw in the audience to create an emotional reaction by talking about REAL issues. Instead of trying to hide them like we always do. It's disgusting, and we need to wake up, and in order to do that, our art needs to become more daring and in-your-face.
No, because American movies are only crappy horror/gore, action, comedy, or girly romance BS. Our movies reflect us as a nation...they're short, fattened with cheap chemicals, and make us more stupid, just like our fast food. Most of the subject matter which creates a unique and effective storyline would be highly censored in any US film.

The name is just a denomination. XXY is the same as XYX or YXX so to speak. So the real name is XXY. There is XYY but they are all males with infertility problems and some others. Wiki it.

when children are conceived, they inherit a chromosome from each parent that helps to determine gender. X chromosomes are female and Y are male. The female child has two X chromosomes XX, and the male child receives an X and Y chromosome.... xxy : Klinefelter syndrome is a condition where one or more extra X-chromosomes are present in a male

Hermaphroditic (intersex) conditions are caused by unusual sex hormones, which can be caused by an atypical set of sex chromosomes. Not all intersex people have ambiguous genitalia. Those that do have an organ that's larger than a clitoris but smaller than a penis...
Are you thinking of people who have both male and female genitalia? That's usually caused by twin absorption.

@ianapeixoto XXY means you have male and female chromosomes. If you are female you are XY and if you are male you will have XX and I suppose if you are a hermaphrodite you have both so thats what XXY means.
