  • I heard it now, soumds like mine but better, deeper maybe

  • This jeep sounds amazing. how is ur pipes set up?

  • @guzzz13 Stock pipes from manifolds to where the cat would be. Then it is y'd and one pipe is routed to the pass. side the other is routed under the driveshaft to the drivers side.

  • Hows that V8 treating ya...I have an inline 6 ZJ but im looking to get a V8 one, but I hear mixed things about the reliability....but I'm a V8 guy lol.

  • @moparmaniac21 I love the V8. This one has 180k on it and no problems what so ever. I have two 4.0s also. One in a ZJ that has 210k on all stock parts except water pump and radiator. The other is in my lifted XJ.

  • sounds like mine but it has a single sidepipe with and xcelerator muffler and a 5.9l and i beg to differ the zjs perform much better without a cat

  • I tried running with no muffler on my ZJ and it sounded great but was way too loud for in town driving and droned too much on the hwy.

  • i could not live with that

  • @bubba2301 To each their own. It sounds a lot different in person.

  • nice

  • What a tool

  • do they make a manual v8 limited?

  • no, they did offer it with the I6 though in 93 and early 94 models.

  • haha nice mine sounded similar when we removed the cat while putting my new exhaust on

  • The ZJ is one of a few vehicles out there that actually performs better with a cat on it. Only reason my cat was taken off was because it was shot. The internals were rattling and the case was rusted in two. I am getting a Hi Flow cat for it as soon as the funds come together.

I didn't lose anything. I did gain a little performance from it but I think it was because the cat was no good.

  • According to Kenne Belle you gain 5HP by removing cats

  • YES!!! I have a 97 ZJ with no muffler. I'm thinking about rippin out my cats. Did you loose a lot of torque?

  • Why should you loose torque by rippin out cats?

  • Because you can loose all your back pressure.

  • yeah this is what happens when you remove the mufflers but usually cats take torque as well as loudness away so if you remove cats you should even gain in torque BUT if you also remove the mufflers you will loose backpressure. so I think it would be the best solution - regarding the torque - to remove the cats but put some mufflers again (like Flowmaster 40 series).
