I've heard of viewers being able to pick themselves up from a bad place and get better because they were able to connect with a youtuber on an emotional level, while watching their videos and feel like someone finally understands them.
This shows that youtube matters and does great things. It not only helps us experience a lot of things we wouldn't be able to but it also provides comfort and people who care about others. :)

I totally agree with this. I never watch the featured videos any more, I stick to finding out about interesting YouTubers through my friends. Unfortunately I'm screwed on the video making front because my camera is nowhere to be found, haha.
Understand where you're coming from. Even when I make my high-quality shows... and by "high quality" I mean me, my camera and my apartment :)... I still make an effort to ask people questions, reply to comments, get feedback. I do like doing shows & bits cause I like to entertain & make people laugh, but I try keeping a personal element as much as possible. Plus I started doing vlogs just for answering people's questions. Social interaction makes YouTube different from TV & we should honor that.

When I'm feeling lonely or not quite like myself, I like to watch youtubers like you. Without fail I always feel good after watching them. I really respect you as a youtuber because you really care about your viewers, you make videos that really mean something and give serious answers to problems people can face day to day. I'd also like to add that after watching your video on tourettes, my perception of you changed a lot. You show people that there is more than meets they eye :)
Shane Dawson and LedaMonsterBunny and you are like my favorite YouTubers because Shane actually takes the time to make vlogs every day and talk to us and Leda's videos are always talking to us. I agree with you. I get so much joy out of watching people's vlogs because it makes me realize this person is REAL. They literally did this a few hours ago and they are literally in a different part of this world and that's just so amazing.

The second part of this video speaks to a lot of YouTuber's who are big these days. I hate how they don't do anything other than upload a video. It's almost like they're too good to be replying to comments, and that's wrong. I hate how YouTube is changing and losing it's feel of a community.I do a variety of videos ranging from Web Series, Comedy Skits and Vlogs, but I'm always replying to viewer comments, watching videos, leaving comments ratings etc.
Still feeling like hell, huh? I respect you for taking time to make videos despite that, but take care of yourself as well Matt. Seriously, if it means you get to live longer I'm sure we can wait a couple of days for the next vid XD.

I think Shane Dawson is real. He does daily vlogs and parodies etc. He gives back and goes on tinychat to talk with his viewers. I actually saw this video because he Favorited it. But I agree completely with what you're saying. Also, Damon Fizzy(DeeFizzy) is real. He's amazing&always does everything he can to keep in contact with his fans. I sensed there was a problem recently in the community... It does feel less personal. I don't have problem with the skits, i used to love them, but now... it feels way too artificial.

i can see where you're coming from, but i still think it's important that content grows. You seemed to have a problem with the top youtubers who create "high quality" shows. If youtube was *just* people sitting in a blank room "talking about their day" it honestly would not be very interesting. However, I agree that these top youtubers should attempt to communicate with their audience. (But I completely agree with you on the music video aspect of youtube.)
I think that it's important to have a balance. People who do sketches, for their own creativity to share their thoughts, I like that. However, I also think that you make a great point, and interacting with the viewers is very important. It does make a stronger connection between the YouTubers and the viewers. Without the special connections...what separates us from television? (Scary thought, huh?)

I enjoyed that! I've only been doing YT a short time, so I've only seen the big wigs get mass of attention, but the socializing aspect does occur more with the small to mid tubers. We didn't yet disappear, but I can see as you stated the downside of the heavy entertainment focus ;) Totally agree that charity should be a part of everyday life, especially by those who have more.
Well as a person who doesn't social network, youtube was never a social network site for me. I guess I've thought of youtube as what you make of it. So I have a personal channel for keeping track of subscriptions, and a joint channel with my friend where we do sketches/ random slice adventures. Maybe we'll explore another format like vlogs in the future, but this is what speaks to us. Now if our vids become a way to connect to others, great, but we're just here to see where the journey takes us.

I thumbed up your video, but although I feel that your stance is very heart felt, and I'm not sure I entirely agree with it. There's a back and forth debate on what exactly the correct stance is supposed to be on YouTube. Because while it is nice to see people respond to each other, I feel that--because of adsense--rarely, responses are genuine in their purpose in the first place.
The only time I feel that it is totally genuine is in the skeptic/creationist/political debates...
Part of the problem is the modifications made to the video viewer in early 2010. Originally, Youtube responses were displayed in a carousal style sub-bar directly underneath the playing video. Now they're shelved away in a separate page that's accessed only after scrolling past the uploader and top comments. This effectively killed more than three quarters viewership on response videos.
Now the only people who respond to big youtubers like sxephil are half naked reply girls.
i respect him so much. and its true! its a shock when we find youtubers that really care about their fans and talks to us like were people and not just a fan. and swifty really does that! i tweet him all the time & he replies to all of them. thank you so much matthew, your fans love you:)
I love youtube because I get to watch stuff I really like instead of the shit TV tries to force on me, but I agree with you so much. I LOVE your videos and LOVE making videos. Even though I make no money from it and videos like mine (random stuff and Geek Movie blogs) don't get ANY support.
Infact the only reason I started making videos was to share my views and thoughts with people, and hopefully find people who agree or disagree but just care.
You Tube has become a TV channel sort of. To have a you tube channel is like having a really small TV channel. TV and you tube are now pritty much the same, it's just that all sorts of people can do you tube. I love you tube the way it is now :)

I personally like both aspacts of youtube. It's good to watch videos created by everyday people as well as watching movies. Thanks to youtube I don't need TV. The good thing about youtube is that it's up to us what we want to watch. Well... I guess I have to go make some videos...

When I'm feeling lonely or not quite like myself, I like to watch youtubers like you. Without fail I always feel good after watching them. I really respect you as a youtuber because you really care about your viewers, you make videos that really mean something and give serious answers to problems people can face day to day. I'd also like to add that after watching your video on tourettes, my perception of you changed a lot. You show people that there is more than meets they eye :)

Shane Dawson and LedaMonsterBunny and you are like my favorite YouTubers because Shane actually takes the time to make vlogs every day and talk to us and Leda's videos are always talking to us. I agree with you. I get so much joy out of watching people's vlogs because it makes me realize this person is REAL. They literally did this a few hours ago and they are literally in a different part of this world and that's just so amazing.

The second part of this video speaks to a lot of YouTuber's who are big these days. I hate how they don't do anything other than upload a video. It's almost like they're too good to be replying to comments, and that's wrong. I hate how YouTube is changing and losing it's feel of a community.I do a variety of videos ranging from Web Series, Comedy Skits and Vlogs, but I'm always replying to viewer comments, watching videos, leaving comments ratings etc.

I think Shane Dawson is real. He does daily vlogs and parodies etc. He gives back and goes on tinychat to talk with his viewers. I actually saw this video because he Favorited it. But I agree completely with what you're saying. Also, Damon Fizzy(DeeFizzy) is real. He's amazing&always does everything he can to keep in contact with his fans. He as well does vlogs&liveshows&tinychats. I'd say Damon Fizzy is my favorite. And I've actually made some videos, just trying to get the courage to post them

i can see where you're coming from, but i still think it's important that content grows. You seemed to have a problem with the top youtubers who create "high quality" shows. If youtube was *just* people sitting in a blank room "talking about their day" it honestly would not be very interesting. However, I agree that these top youtubers should attempt to communicate with their audience. (But I completely agree with you on the music video aspect of youtube.)

I think that it's important to have a balance. People who do sketches, for their own creativity to share their thoughts, I like that. However, I also think that you make a great point, and interacting with the viewers is very important. It does make a stronger connection between the YouTubers and the viewers. Without the special connections...what separates us from television? (Scary thought, huh?)

I enjoyed that! I've only been doing YT a short time, so I've only seen the big wigs get mass of attention, but the socializing aspect does occur more with the small to mid tubers. We didn't yet disappear, but I can see as you stated the downside of the heavy entertainment focus ;) Totally agree that charity should be a part of everyday life, especially by those who have more.

Well as a person who doesn't social network, youtube was never a social network site for me. I guess I've thought of youtube as what you make of it. So I have a personal channel for keeping track of subscriptions, and a joint channel with my friend where we do sketches/ random slice adventures. Maybe we'll explore another format like vlogs in the future, but this is what speaks to us. Now if our vids become a way to connect to others, great, but we're just here to see where the journey takes us.

I thumbed up your video, but although I feel that your stance is very heart felt, and I'm not sure I entirely agree with it. There's a back and forth debate on what exactly the correct stance is supposed to be on YouTube. Because while it is nice to see people respond to each other, I feel that--because of adsense--rarely, responses are genuine in their purpose in the first place.
The only time I feel that it is totally genuine is in the skeptic/creationist/political debates...

Part of the problem is the modifications made to the video viewer in early 2010. Originally, Youtube responses were displayed in a carousal style sub-bar directly underneath the playing video. Now they're shelved away in a separate page that's accessed only after scrolling past the uploader and top comments. This effectively killed more than three quarters viewership on response videos.
Now the only people who respond to big youtubers like sxephil are half naked reply girls.

I love youtube because I get to watch stuff I really like instead of the shit TV tries to force on me, but I agree with you so much. I LOVE your videos and LOVE making videos. Even though I make no money from it and videos like mine (random stuff and Geek Movie blogs) don't get ANY support.
Infact the only reason I started making videos was to share my views and thoughts with people, and hopefully find people who agree or disagree but just care.
