In cartoons they often use multiple animation cels, as in one page for the background, character, object, etc. Regardless of how well an animator tries to color a moving object the color distortion of the cels makes it really difficult/time-consuming to properly blend in.
.........your animation's are not funny in anyway please go back to what you was good at and finish rpg world seriously 5 years without an ending? wtf!
OMG I use to HATE that in cartoons, when the characters are like "Where's a loose floor board?" and it's obviously the one that is NOT a BG painting. Great observation
For those curious, my understanding of it was this:
Older cartoons were animated on acetate cels. Now, say you have a cabinet with drawers. Even if the drawers have the same paint color as the cabinet, the properties of the acetate as well as being covered by additional acetate would alter the color so that it didn't match anymore. So I guess if you wanted the colors to more closely match, you would have to purposely mix the drawer color darker so that it would come close to matching.
I always thought that as a kid too. How you'd always know what rocks were going to fall, or where the pit was, or what section of wall had a secret panel in it.
Ah, for a long time I've been wanting someone to crack the 'this bit isn't rendered so don't step on it' joke, and you guys pulled it off wonderfully.
Even as a kid with poor eye sight, I have questioned the only animated lightly colored thingies. I always thought it was simply dark magic.

Ah, yes, the volatility of coloured cells vs. background colours. Why no consistency?!
Of course you had to step on it. There's no point of it being there otherwise. :O
