  • I Own this Boss Digital Delay i Highly Reccomend it.All Boss Pedals are used by my Guitar Heros.Like Zaak Wylde,Slash,Jimmy Page,Jack White,BucketHead etc.Rock on M.M

  • what kind of sorcery is this!?... 0:45

  • @TheAlex380 Its an expression pedal plugged into the DD7 to control the tempo of it, the bottom input on the right side of the pedal is the spot for it, can really make for some interesting sounds

  • radiohead!!!

  • У меня есть большой пенис

  • @kamikazeflute da tu krut!

  • Nice try Boss . I too had every thing they made from the early days till last year , but most of there stuff sucks tone out ?

  • @getbackgoodtimes I'm using a lot of Boss stuff and still have my tone the way I want it.

  • You forgot to mention, Andy, that if you hold the footswitch for three seconds, it enters a tap/tempo mode, such as on the BF-3 Flanger pedal. Then hold for a few seconds to go back to on/off mode. Learned that by accident trying it in a music store after watching this demo.

  • would this go well with bass?

  • We use this one quite often with our band, it's very useful for metal music aswell!:)

  • @DesolaceDivine definatly yeah, for your lead bits and cleans.. do you use any other pedals?

  • A billion cool points for Radiohead. :D

  • Does anyone know if you still have to hold down the pedal for 2 seconds to activate tap tempo, even if you use an expression pedal connected to it?

  • Got one for 105$ good deal?

  • @lordjared Yes !

  • has that effect of jesus lizard slamming every face in the audience

  • Good pedal. The only thing about it as previously mentioned is that none of the effect delays tap dotted eighth notes. You can tap triplets to get that effect though. Also, I recommend an external tap. It's annoying that you can't turn off the pedal right away without one. You have to hold it and then turn it off.

  • you weiner! you had the expression pedal plugged in so you made it seem like you were magic at 0:45! you weiner...

  • 1:41 reminds me of Spyro The Dragon...

  • it's nice - but, What would Gilmour Do?

  • What's the song at 2:38?

  • @fullmetalfunk i forget the song title but it's something by the jesus lizard

  • When looping, can you press the pedal to start the loop again so you can set off the loop whenever? is this better than the line 6 dl4

  • @Foals4Life when looping you press the pedal twice if you want to stop the looping and press it once if you want to redo the loop, and its way better than a dl4

  • If you use the tap tempo in the modulate mode what do you get? Quarter notes, triplets, dotted 8th notes or something else?

  • @geokar16 I own one and the Modulate, Analog, and Reverse are all Quarter notes when you tap it in.

  • Can you elaborate on what you did on analog delay? "I've set the expression pedal up to control the repeats"

I thought the expression pedal controls the delay time, you delay time did not change, so what did when you "set it up" Analog delay sounds awesome btw. might buy this just for that

  • how do you make that sound? @ 4:02

  • @somanyusernames1 its probably just feedback :P

  • @somanyusernames1 volume pedal swells

  • thiss guy really knows how to play guitar!

  • Space pyramid was recorded using one of this!

  • I luv that pedal The Boss DD-7 I don't like the DD-3

  • @BigEvilLadia23 The dd3 is a lot more simpler and cheaper

  • The first setting is what I leave mine on >.>

  • RADIOHEAD

  • wtf did you do at :45?!?!

  • @samthehiggins he is using an expression pedal with his foot ;)

  • @samthehiggins

Sorcery!.... Or he just use the expression pedal to alter delay times briefly.

  • @samthehiggins That move looks like Andy was using a Theremin(the crazy sounds in the middle part of Whole lotta love)

  • @samthehiggins I think he went ape-shit on the expression pedal lol

  • @samthehiggins a very awesome trick!

  • @samthehiggins Lol its a whammy pedal

  • wolf at the door!! ^^

  • Tough choice between this and the MXR Carbon copy. Any advice to help make the decision?

  • @alcarcifi depends how much you like dirty repeats. the mxr is really dark voiced, i like that some people dont.

  • @alcarcifi mxr doesn't allow you to tap your delay time.

  • Just bought this last week.. Trust me guys.. this thing is an absolute monster. Highly recommended.. can't get any better.

  • Hey what's the song at 1:42?

  • I'm a huge fan of analog delay, but I'm gonna get one of these, just for the reverse mode... AMAZING !

  • @kimonlyla my thoughts exactly!

  • meh, didnt like that they didnt review it with gain. wouldve been cool to see a comarison of soloing without the delay and with it.

  • Are there pedals that play notes in reverse only? I don't really need the delay stuff, but I could use the reverse function!

  • @tenhundredkills

If you want that 'notes recorded then played backward' sound, check out a volume swell pedal, or if you want to record a line and play it back in reverse, a Boss RC20.

(Unless you mean you want reverse delay)

  • A Wolf At The Door 5:10

  • What does reverse delay actually do?

  • @undeadcress exactly what it sounds...plays the delayed note backwards. If you use the level knob up to max while in this mode, it will cut off the dry signal

  • If I get more than one pedal, do I have to use something like BCB30 or another pedal box, or can I have my guitar connected to my DS1, and my DS1 output connected to the DD7, and that connected to my amp? And I'm assuming this would be around 100$?

  • @guitarg0d7007 you can just connect output to input and then to the amp. i have a Crybaby connected to my BD-2 then my DS-1 then my RP-80 for reverb and a sub-octave then i connect it to my Fencer Champion 600 i would invest in patch cables because they are shorter than the standard 6-foot+ cables they are about 6 inches long or so. A Visual sound 1-Spot would also be a good investment so you don't have 15 power supplies plugged into a surge strip after a while the 1-spot pays for itself

  • Thanks for the Jesus Lizard!!!!

  • I keep the wolf from the door

    But he calls me up

    Calls me on the phone

Tells me all the ways that he's gonna mess me up

love it, another reason to get this pedal

  • what's the name of the second song and the first song

  • last song? i know its radiohead

  • @Teutonic1250 Wolf at the door

  • what's the name of the opening riff?

  • Some extra good playing on this one. Great review!

  • This pedal is fantastic, I can't recommend it enough. If you shop around you can find one under £120.

  • what song did he play at the beginning?

  • what's the name of the song you played at the beginning

  • what do you recommend : dd-7 or the flashback delay (tc electronic)??

  • @alexmetallicaZFC13 I have both, i prefer the flashback for it's amount of delay types and pristine sound. But both are great! IMO

  • MUSE

  • WHY THE FUCK DOES THIS COST 155 E!!Boss is doing everything to turn us away from buying its products!!

  • @DinosDIS Dude, that's like a 3d of a Diamond Memory Lane 2.

  • hi PGS, just wondering howd u compare the dd7 to a memory boy and deluxe memory boy

  • @zeipiero Memory man you dick lick???????

  • Does anyone know if you can set the tap tempo in bypass mode

  • I found the answer on page 13 of the manual - yes, you can do this with the external footswitch

  • not even going to touch tap tempo mode here?

  • 0.45

    Wild hand appears :D

  • got 2 of them they do the job but nothing will replace my mark1 boss dm2

the cheap belcat delay is good to

  • @TheDownAndOutKS electro harmonix chorus, boss ph2 phaser i like em

  • @TheDownAndOutKS a big muff for distortion. but i guess you have one already.

i have one too and i love it.

  • Does anyone know what the first song is?

  • Good, but doesn't beat the TC ND-1 or Eventide Timefactor

  • @aaronmccaffery It's cheaper than them though, so you get what you pay for i guess.

  • This makes me want that so bad

  • This pedal is awesome.

  • What's the effect pedal used from 0:55 to 1:30 ? sounds awesome!

  • Buying this purely for the reverse and long delay modes

  • reverse mode = hendrix mode

  • Thumbs up for playing Radiohead at the end!

  • @SuperCollider100

    totally cool man

  • When andy mentions the "trails function" at 1:25 does he mean that the repeats decay naturally when you turn the pedal off instead of cutting out all at once?

  • @peeblesj1131 essentially. You can only do this with a buffered bypass, though. But then again, all Boss pedals are buffered bypass, so it doesn't really matter.

  • whats the delay times you can use in analog mode? also does the analog mode do that crazy psychedelic dirty self oscillation when you ramp up the feedback?

  • These tunes make me want to smoke.

  • I love this pedal - not a fan of the modulation mode though.

  • @DSilvergun Why don't you like modulation mode?

  • @AlexSongDoesCovers I just think it sounds too seasick. Either too much or too little. I'd like to see them either improve the mod mode or maybe throw in a spring reverb sim.

  • The analog emulation mode is so convincing, it made me go out and buy this pedal!

Tried the DD-20 just before that but for some reason the analog mode on it wasn't as good as on the DD-7. So I went back to the store and exchanged it for this one. Also on the DD-20 you cannot use an expression pedal, only a footswitch like an FS-5.

Thanks Andy for a convincing demo of this great Boss pedal!

  • i've read a lil about this but i dont get it, do i HAVE to buy the footpedal thing to use tap-tempo?

  • @Bluesyloosy1994 if you hold down the pedal for two seconds, it will switch into tap tempo mode and you can tap the tempo in. then hold it down for another 2 seconds and it'll switch back to off/on mode--you don't need an external footswitch (but its super helpful).

  • @Bluesyloosy1994 no, you can hold down the pedal for like 3 seconds to engage the built in tap tempo. you also have to hold it down 3 seconds to turn it off. where as if you had the separate tap pedal you just press the delay pedal to turn it on and off.

  • So is this delay the best for post rock, Explosions In The Sky type stuff?

I meen it seems to have the most options and would prolly sound pretty swell with some reverb.

  • @MrMuddyBleach Try EHX Memory man ! That's the perfect pedal for post rock !

  • this is my favorite pedal i've ever owned..not only is it like 6 delay pedals in one, the reverse is sick and the loop function makes writing a quick rhythm part to match a sick lead a super easy/fun process..great piece of gear IMO

  • RADIOHEAD!!!!!!

  • Trippy version of Radiohead from 5:00

  • 24 people are delayed.

  • this pedal sounds amazing.

chock that up to the list...

  • Does it bass the tempo on tap averages like the Empress?

Or two taps like the Nova?

  • hey question, in tap tempo mode. i saw that with the dd6... you can actually hit the pedal 2 times fast or slow and have either a fast of slow delay by how fast of slow you tapped the pedal... is that feature in this one? im stuck between the dd7 or the vox time machine, and if the dd7 does what the dd6 did, im sold.

  • 0:45????? whats that?!

  • @ASpanishguy The time knob is changed which creates the delays to self-oscillate.

  • is this better than the maxon od 808?

  • @PF1964 How can you compare a delay pedal with an overdrive pedal?

  • @ragnatoad lol can you compare a car with a microwave? no you cant

  • @ragnatoad Well....a delay pedal is a time based effect and an overdrive pedal makes things diiiirtaaaaay!!

  • @PF1964 fail

  • thanks for this awsome demo of the dd-7. but can i use this delay pedal also as a reverb?

  • 3:33 Roundabout!

  • 2:37 jesus lizard??

  • Thanks once again for a -full- review. Great pedal, I own it, I actually watched this to get some ideas of other things it can do. Andy for president. Thumbs anyone?

  • He's using an expression pedal when he waves his hand. Thumbs up so everyone knows

  • @Ilovemyfender2 if that's ture, why is the EXP jack empty?

  • @angusyoung98 It's not. Troll or idiot :)

  • @xloserx4xchristx oh! you delight me! lol!

  • @Ilovemyfender2 you can do that with the dd-7 its a little trick

  • @Ilovemyfender2 you mean a volume pedal?

  • @DarkAngelEU no an expression pedal..it controls the "effect" via a footswitch..it functions like a volume pedal but it controls the effect and not the volume

  • what is the hand waving? im really confused

  • Do the dd-5 or dd-6 have a loop station as well or is it just the dd-7?

  • lol trying to do something like Brian May's Brighton Rock?

  • Worth buying just for the modulated Delay at 1:51. Anyone know any other units in this price range which can do Modulated Delay's like that?

  • if i were to record a simple rhythm loop, would i then be able to play a lead over the looped section w. a "delay" effect ? the DD-6 didn't allow me to do this.

  • @aonello No because the looper is a separate mode and if you switch it from hold to another mode the loop will stop

  • @aonello I've got a looper and now looking at this as a delay pedal. I think the loop station is a great product and you should buy it if you really want a looper. Looper functions in delay pedals are very limited for most I think. Plus you can't use delay and looper at the same time which is what I really want.

  • @aonello no for the loops it doesn't allow you to play with a delay effect which was sad for me :(

  • @bloc22 actually you CAN use the loop w. the delay effect applied over the top of it, it's pretty sweet. i ended up buying the pedal anyways. after you set your loop, you can play with the delay effect over the top of it. you can't loop w. the delay effect itself (which kinda sucks), but you CAN play a clean rhythm loop, then turn on the delay effect with the opposite pedal, and "solo" over the top of it w. delay. but once you do this, you can't go back to re-edit the loop.

  • Your hand do that sound?? 0:44 Nice

  • how did you do 4:04 - 4:14?

  • @TheTurnstyles1 an expression pedal.

  • what song is that song at the very start? its on the tip of my tongue

  • I once plugged a mic into one of these, and stuck the mic inside my piano. Very cool noise.

  • A wolf at the door! :D good vid

  • whats happening at 0:45, how does that hand shaking happen? anyone?

  • @greenham1 he's just doing that for effect, he's actually using an external expression pedal to shift the delay time off and then back, causing that sort of odd jiggly effect.

  • @greenham1 I'm guessing he just scratched the strings. He cranked the feedback up to max, so I think thats why it repeated itself like that. But I'd have to buy the pedal first :D

  • @greenham1

he manipulates the oscillating signal with an expression pedal.

  • @greenham1 i think he has an expression pedal plugged into it and is using his foot to warp the sound

  • @greenham1 My only guess, it looks like they have a expression pedal plugged in and it's being played with off camera.

  • @greenham1 I think he is shaking the jack to make that sound you get when you plug it in :P Pretty awesome init!

  • @greenham1

I think he is using an expression pedal to get the effect

  • @greenham1 i think he just stopped playing and mimicked the effect it would make if you stopped playing on that type of delay.

  • @greenham1 Its the expression pedal actually. lol

  • @SilverSleeping no its not

  • @greenham1 thats the delay oscillation DAHH!

  • @greenham1 It's self-oscillation. It's what ahppens when the repeat lasts longer than the sample time. I.E, it starts repeating the repeats.

  • @greenham1 he uses the expression pedal, its pretty sweet

  • @greenham1

Andy uses expression pedal for real-time delay time change while playing. So you can hear that sound. Something like that. :)

  • @greenham1 Expresion pedal

  • @greenham1

He hit the tempo switch and slowed down the feedback repeats....

from around 140 bpm to like 70

  • @greenham1 He secretly works for Voodoo Lab... because that shit was crazy

  • @greenham1 exp. pedal. that hand move is just a brainfuck

  • @greenham1 i believe he used the expression pedal changing the delay time...or did he? i don't know what sort of power that hand might have

  • @greenham1 I think it was the expression pedal. You can do that on the EHX memory boy. you just kinda push it in and pull it up rapidly to get that weird wavy sound.

  • @greenham1 he uses the expression pedal...

  • i want a simple loop pedal (because i dont want to spend alot of money) any suggestions? i've just started looking today and i dont have much knowledge on this stuff XD. thanks.

  • @Wiltonibanez the boss rc2 is a medium priced pedal. its is pretty good too.

  • @Wiltonibanez something to remember about loopers like the rc-2 is if you use built in effects on your amp you need an effects loop on your amp or the drum tracks (which the rc-2 has) will also be distorted if you are using built in distortion with no effects loop. if you use pedals though you should be fine.

  • O: Da fuck? 0:45 I flipping love you guys.

  • Does it have a dotted 8th note mode???

  • @GoatKiller1000 Yeah, set it to 800ms and use tap tempo. tap in quarter notes and you're good to go.
