  • Chinese gaddhafi??

  • i was wondering why he didnt liked it

    now i know

  • that is a good trooper there if i ever saw one.

i couldent do that, i have a horribly weak stomach for that kind of food.

  • @Bloodyidit

i let it, but you are unwise a bit

  • I was hoping that this is cgi effect. But it is very sad.

A true buddhist does NOT make this.

  • @davidsusu

don't give me that "true buddist" crap.

no one can be a "true" anything, everyone has deviations from paths set by others, the only true anything that anybody can become is true to themselves.

besides, that "true insert religion" shit starts wars, and good god, the Crusades started because of that damn thinking.

so sit down, shut up and let a guy eat a live octopus if he wants to.

  • 모예여?

  • 0:34 was funny

  • ...is smoking not at all to be avoided by a Buddhist? I can't imagine why it would be alright to purposefully harm yourself for a simple pleasure. Not that I care, I used to smoke, just curious about his Buddism.

  • Oh he prayed for them before eating them alive? Well THAT makes it okay.

    [/Sarcasm]

  • I love him~~~

  • Awww :(

  • Poor octopus. T_T

  • Glad I'm not an octopus!

  • Such a ballsy scene.

  • this guy is one of the greatest actors today

  • Wow this is reminiscent of jackass, without the throwing up. Well done to him for going for it!

  • MAJOR SPOILER ALERT,

have a question to youtube do you guys think that the hypnotization worked, did oh dae su cry or laugh at the end because it worked or failed, btw this film rocks! :)

  • i ate live octopus in south korea, it was tasty

  • @Camorr975 WHat's the purpose of serving it live? That seems needlessly cruel to me..serious question, not trying to troll ya.

  • @stryker1121 It's not alive, it is just really fresh, after the legs are cut off, they continue to move

  • this is fucking dessert for bear grylls...topped with a chardonnay of piss of course

  • hay cabron hijo de suu!! dice en español al 2:02

  • holy f@ckin asian

  • Save me a bite.jk .gross

  • man... it would suck dick if he had to do liek 20 takes -_-

  • Why didn't they just use a dead squid and put some sodium on it? That way the squid would have moved and it would have lookd exactly the same. LOL. Isn't physics wonderful...

  • Oh what we do in the name of art...

  • he looks like Jackie Chan from the nose down. Great movie.

  • i dare the US remake to do this scene..sure they wont do it

  • @rajifusama No....no we wont lol

  • The actor is a vegetarian buddhist. You actually can see him saying a prayer and apologizing to the octopus. Before anyone gets all judgmental on him, just know that he's probably harmed fewer animals in his life than you have.

  • @Galactic123 so he gave up on his principles for money ... what a wonderful person

  • @sageyash Not for money, but for art, man :).

  • @Galactic123 Buddhist has nothing to do about being vegetarian, Buda only said not to kill animals for your own profit, but he in fact ate meat for his own neccesity. But eating alive an octopus I would say it's not a vital need. Cephalopods are kind of intelligent animals, they have kind of nociceptors feeling "pain" and kind of a brain processing it. I wonder what would people think if instead of an ugly octopus he ate a cute lamb alive.

  • I think it's wonderful dedication to the role that, despite Choi Min being buddhist, (not just vegetarian) he still agreed to this. Paid of though, Oldboy is a right film!

  • so much for no animals were harmed in the making ... lol

  • ....do u know the actor is vegetarian?...

  • no octopuses were harmed during the making of this film

  • They don't teach you this in improv class.

  • i love this movie....but jesus.....the octopus.... i cant watch that part!

  • This guy needs a oscar!

  • Comment removed

  • @omonamag Yes it is

  • you know the most funny thing is...he is actually vegetarian

  • What an actor ..

  • They should do it in fear factor.. only few would do that

  • Does this mean they have to add a disclaimer that animals WERE harmed during the making of this video?? Lol

  • hes a great actor, and one with balls and heart. He knows its bad to the octi and apologises - least he has respect for what hes doing.

  • This is such a cunt move to the octopi, I feel really bad for them.

  • @facecycle Min-sik prayed to each one of them before he ate them.

  • Choi Min Sik is vegetarian !!! What a awesome actor ! ♥

  • id eat one for a movie like this.

  • Om nom nom

  • PETA can lick my butt hole

  • Comment removed

  • Holy shit, he actually did it? I thought it was edited, god daaaaaamn.

  • talent

  • @RyanLies : Dedication

  • @rutger5000 true

  • Well they can't say "no animals were harmed in the making of this video"

  • oh my god i died during this scene fffffffffffff

  • Haha the only complaint he had was it was too salty.

  • eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww

  • fuck the teeth scene this was the hardest part of the movie to watch

  • im sure PETA would love this lol...

  • great movie, one of many awesome scenes!

  • I was talking to my grandma about this movie and i told her that there is a scene where the actor actually eats a live octupus. she didnt believe me, then i showed her this, the look on her face was priceless

  • I remember when I first watched Oldboy, I came straight to Youtube wondering whether there was a video explaining how the octopus scene was done. I naïvely thought some sort of CGI was involved; boy was I wrong. :L

  • the fuck ...

    how many did he eat?

  • @justbored23 he ate four all together! :)

  • WOW

  • Raw optopus with sesame oil is really yummy.

It is not disgusting food for Korean.

  • Me and another guy were talking about this movie at a restraunt and he said that once he saw him eat the octopus he went on autopilot and i could not agree more

  • it's such a heavy, powerfull, great movie, feels kinda strange watching them acting the scene and laughing about is haha

  • Man, I'd like to see some Hollywood actors try that.

  • @DavidL999 nicholas cage eat a cockroach, christian bale eat maggots

  • @DavidL999 haha josh brolins gotta try it in the remake haha even though it wont be and good as this :P

  • amazing

  • he looks a little like jackie chan

  • this is nothing! Chuck Norris eats giant squid for breakfast

  • @DreamBrother86A shut the fuck up. This guy would battle 20 Chuck Norris'....in a narrow hallway.

  • @Thisismytrollingface ACTUALLY, the plural for Norris is Norri.

  • @Thisismytrollingface With a hammer! :-P

  • @Thisismytrollingface

But Chuck Norris doesn't perform incest

  • @RonniiV Oh Dae Su was unaware of what he was doing...moron.

  • @Thisismytrollingface But was okay with forgetting about it and continued with the incest, but then again that was the only way to relive the discomfort of doing such a thing.

I liked the movie none the less.

  • @Thisismytrollingface bullshit he read the script

  • @Volf99 Oh harr de harr.

  • I bet Christian Bale never ate a live octopus.

  • @Nilla6 He shouldv in the movie "The Fighter" I believe it was his best act.....even better than batman, or momento, fuckin love that man

  • @OffspringFTW65 How can you love some one who's as psychotic as Bale? He beat his mum and sister ... type in "Christian Bale Family Guy". It's real btw - except for the Peter bits.

  • @Nilla6 Of course not. He's too busy loosing weight..

  • Can imaginary eating be put into use for a hell of a scene?

    It can.

  • @placebo4yo There was nothing imaginary about this. That octopus was real.

  • lol respect! thats why this movie is fucking awesome

  • They're such intelligent creatures. Goodbye little cephalopod :(

  • i respect him even more now

    hes a fuckin good actor

he deserve much more fame and respect

  • i feel bad for all the octopi that got half eaten when the take wasn't successful

  • You know what's worse? Oh-dae-su's actor (forgat his name) is in fact a buddhist!

  • @ThaX14

true, that's why he bowed to the octopus to say sorry before eating it

  • @ThaX14

true, that's why he bowed to the octopus to say sorry before eating it

  • @TeeSok I'm sure the octopus cared about that and was pleased to at least get an apology for being eaten alive

  • that is just cruel if u are gonna kill it at least do it in a merciful way , its a living being u know !

  • @sageyash CIRCLE OF LIFE MOTHA FUCKA! lol

But I know what you're sayin'.

  • @sageyash The scene wouldn't have been nearly as awesome if they did kill it beforehand and made it look alive.

  • Comment removed

  • @omonamag speak for yourself i don't eat tortured animals

  • @sageyash lol fag !

  • @sageyash

    "I don't eat tortured animals"

So you catch your own animals for consumption? In some way or another the meat that you consume went through some kind of torture.

  • @KSH2006 i don't catch them but i buy them from local places where they don't torture animals

  • @sageyash have you ever had lobster?

  • @AstorSapolsky nope

  • The tentacles almost go up his nose

  • It looked extremely real so I just had to check to see if it was real, and WOW what a badass!

  • I love this movie and all from the master :)

  • this movie was messed up, i was like "WTF!?" at the end, and i was like "THIS MOVIE IS MESSED UP!" WTFWTFWTF!

  • Was always wondering how he coped with that. Great Film.

  • RIP Oscar

  • i love that, "this needs salt" "bleh, to salty"

  • waste of intelligent life. But one hell of a movie.

  • What is the big deal? It's just an octopus.

Octopus, Cow, Pig, Chicken, Fish, Turkey... good source of protein.

  • animals dont have souls so its ok. lawl

  • He looks like a korean gary oldman

  • Its funny, nobody is suing sharks for eating live octopus.

  • Only real actors eat raw octopus.

  • @dtek40k it was ALIVE not raw, one means the animal is Alive and the other relates to dead precooked.

  • @dtek40k You mean live? That's rawer than raw!

  • That is fucking disgusting, it's tentacles were still moving on the plate!

  • I read at imdb that Choi, being Buddhist, had to say a prayer before consuming the octupi. He had 5 all in all. What guts.

  • @AllisterCooper2008 That octopus was Choi's enemy in a previous life.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nomoreidsleft Yes, and the cycle continues.

  • @Nomoreidsleft Payback time, eh! :)!

  • @1:46

    Flacid cock?

  • the octopus could have helped him win a lot of money during the world cup.

  • one animal was harmed in the making of this film

  • @happydoodson many more animals were harmed in the making of my diner!

  • @Atreas40000 'dinner' lol

  • @happydoodson and, lots of people

  • "I am sorry. I am sorry."

    XD

  • @shebangsthedrums89

you need to watch the rest of the film, its a good film. These scenes you talk about aren't shocking at all. If its not your bag then fair enough but don't let the film suffer due to "cruel" acts towards animals. The head was eaten first which kills all nerves to the rest of the body. The tentacles moving are just spasms. I recommend you avoid apocalypse now as there is a cow being sacrificed at the end.... Or just stop being so sensitive. I'm a vegan and I dont whine at it

  • @ shebangsthedrums89 if u say that movie is shit and overrated i say u don't know anything about movies really.

  • Isn't that some kind of animal rights violation? Who needs special effects I guess

  • @EnergizerBunny804 well not really since it's in an asain country there animal laws are do take the animal for granted honor there spirit and eat it. That's why he was apologizing to the octopus on a side note tHAT'S ONE BADASS motherfucker for doing that

  • @EnergizerBunny804 Near the end in "Apocalypse Now" they chop the head off a cow, the real deal

  • @shebangsthedrums89

Then you probably don't even understand why they used the name "dae-soo" for the main character. Just don't watch it, cause you're not ready to appreciate it.

  • @shebangsthedrums89 how can you criticize a movie you didn't even watch? -_-;

  • @shebangsthedrums89 Oldboy has a great story about revenge and the extravagant lengths men will go to achieve it. it also has great action scenes, like the hammer fight in the hallway where the camera doesn't cut for three minutes, great cinematography, intense acting, and some humor as well. sure, the best parts are probably the "shocking scenes" like the octopus scene, the tooth scene, and of course the tongue scene, but the movie doesn't rely on them, it uses them to illustrate how seemingly

  • @shebangsthedrums89 normal people can become monstrous machines of vengeance. you really should give this movie a second chance.

  • @shebangsthedrums89 relies on shocking scenes? how about watching the rest of the movie so you understand what its all about... i was owned by the twist.

  • Watchd half this film so far. Was hoping octopus scene was special effects but obviously wasnt. Wots wiv the "poor guy" comments? Wot about the poor fucking octopus?!

  • i can puke just watching it. poor guy

  • If anyone comes across this question and knows please answer.

Also, if anyone is interested to the answer of the question please, give it a thumbs up, in order keep it around.

WHAT IS THE GUN USED IN OLDBOY THAT LEE WOO JIN USED TO KILLHIMSELF?

  • @Fedx723 remington derringer 1866

  • @bluemonolith88 Thank you fucking thank you man!!!! THANK YOU

  • @Fedx723

look it up on IMDB, they have a section that is like wikipedia, but for guns in movies:D

  • I like that he tells the octopus he's sorry for eating it. Poor thing though....It made me sick a bit too...vegetarian, but not to mention octopus look gross to me, like bugs and crabs and lobsters...lol. But eh. Brave actor.

  • wow, that is one BIG ocotopus he had to eat.

  • What an asshole.

  • WOW!

  • i dont think brad pit or any other douch like that can do it

  • @recoveryprankcalls that's why spielberg would remove this scene in the remake i guess. will smith doesn't have the balls to do it.

  • @Trogdorrrrrrr

    he's remaking it?!?

  • @soupie not anymore, but i've heard that they wanna remake lady vengeance now, lol...

  • The poor Octopus, damn it....

  • korean people love to eat live octopuses

  • @AlanRQ7 yeah he looks like hes loving it heh

  • This guy has some serious balls

  • lol @ stoneagecomics :]

  • Oh Tae Su: the definition of BADASS.

he eats his sushi alive like a man.

  • Sick movie!

    one of my favourites

  • Its funny how people are saying how brave this man is

when the octopus got eaten alive lol
