You're not a creatard are you? I mean, you are Atheist, right? Religious people that agree with evolution are hilarious. They're the kind of people who are NEVER wrong, even when they actually are - they've decided to accept evolution as a fact, just because they know it is, and to debate against evolution is foolish, at best.
@chirectomy - This rational argument quickly breaks down in that some forms of communication are one-to-many. For example, if a pastor verbally declares to a congregation of more than one that a free lunch is to be served following the service, more than one individual could experience a verbal revelation simultaneously.
chirectomy @paularenas - "in terms and ideas to call anything a revelation that comes to us at second hand, either verbally or in writing.Revelation is necessarily limited to the first communication."
@ChaunaDyan He has read the whole thing. The reason he became an atheist was because he intricately studied the Bible on his mission of becoming a pastor after 20 years of faith.
@MrItchyElbow You're either trolling, or you're absolutely fucking retarded. Did you understand ANYTHING that Matt said in this video? The point, or more-over, the FACT is that your God is horribly ignorant and chose one of the worse possible ways to to try and convey a message to people he supposedly loves.
You're another one of those Christians who hasn't read their Bible - at the most, what you do is go to church and listen to your pastor preach bullshit lies to you.
@Cansololife I have read MY Bible. Have YOU read the Bible? He wasn't "trying to convey a message," he sent his son for a purpose. To give us salvation and everlasting life. People have become distant from God because of sin. It separates us from him and the gift of faith. Draw close to Him and He will reveal the truth to you. But you won't. You won't put in the work even for the chance at faith. Because you don't WANT to believe. The work required is prayer and devotion to reading the Bible.
@ChaunaDyan I have read your Bible, several times, actually. I love how you try to down-play what your Bible says in it. You Christians love to pick and choose what to, and not to believe, or call a metaphor; it's really pathetic.
1) God didn't send His son, he sent a human clone of himself, so Jesus was basically God.
2) People have distanced themselves from religion, because more and more of them are realizing how stupid it is.
3) God sent himself, to save us from rules he made?
@ChaunaDyan I really suggest you get a clue, and soon. You're entirely too old to be believing in ridiculous bullshit like God. It's lunatics like you, who in the face of evidence, hold on to ideals that have long since proven to be immoral. You, like so many others, are not a real Christian. You don't follow exactly what the Bible says, because if you did, you'd have to run around murdering people constantly.
Your God is a lie, and your religion is a disease.
@ChaunaDyan "You won't put in the work even for the chance at faith."
Say what?????
These silly heathen thinkers!!!!! They are so stubborn to thy God that they are too damned lazy to work for the chance at fear! Shame on them all.
Can you imagine? What type of surrendering of intellectual faculties does it take to want to work for fear? ooops sorry, not actually fear but, the chance of fear.
What a fantastically weird & wacky cult this Christianity thing is.
if god was real there would be only one religion. we all live on earth, therefore we are earthlings. and how come when someone "new" says they're the messiah, he/she is crazy. but, "jesus is lord", "ok sounds reasonable". "john smith reads with angels", "sure". "moses talks to burning bushes", "ok i can see that". "muhammad flies around mecca". "yeah, seems real". "hey, did ya hear carl smith is the son of god?" "no way, he's fuckin' crazy, he needs to be locked up, that's blasphemy"
If god were clever he would write his word in the sky or etch it into mountains so nobody could doubt it. Don't try to tell me that faith is important because doubting Thomas didn't have faith and Jesus proved his identity to him, according to the bible. It's just so inconsistent that it should be viewed with utter suspicion and contempt.
The truth is sinners and liars do not want to be responsible to anyone but self. Tell you what, get yourself crucified, die, come back from the dead and I will listen to you.
No one can duplicate the words and works of Jesus because he is the only representation of God in the Flesh. Monogenes - unique, one of a kind, never again to be duplicated Son of God! Since you can;t beat him, Join him, or go to hell!
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH No, that is not the truth. Atheists don't believe in sin, so why would our motivation be to avoid sinning? Of course it is the only thing that makes sense to someone with such a twisted world view. For the most part, atheists have thought about the God question and just found the answer to be "Sound bogus." It's nothing to do with hating God or escape sin. Only a Christian would do that.
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH Your comment does not prove anything, and sin is something your moraly fucked up book wrote down. Let me ask, do you support homocide? do you support infantice? do you support slavery? do you support incest? do you support poverty? do you support rascism? do you support the removing of the rights of women? If you do not, then you havent read the bible, if you do, you are a complete pshycopath.
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH "The truth is sinners and liars do not want to be responsible to anyone but self. Tell you what, get yourself crucified, die, come back from the dead and I will listen to you."
Lies like..........Matthew 21:21-22, Matthew 7:7-8, Matthew 18:19-20,Mark 11:24-25 ,Luke 11:9-13,John 14:13-14,John 15:7,John 15:16,John 16:23-24 all these verses are Jesus saying he will answer ALL prayers as asked and wont make any substitutions and wont deny them.Matthew 7:9-11
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH If you have every been denied any prayer...Jesus lied didnt he? According to Jesus it is Gods will that you receive what you ask for no matter what it is Matthew 7:9-11" 9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH If you listen to Jesus as you say you do then you believe what he himself said, now you can test it for its validity and truthfulness. Pray right now that every Atheist be converted instantly, better yet how about you pray that someone you love and care for that is dying of an incurable disease be instantly healed as Jesus promised. Got the faith to make one prayer be validated? Or are you a coward not wanting to put your faith to the test 1 John 4:1
@ChaunaDyan 1-By what evidence are you asserting that "it is true"? 2-Who is "he".
3-"the way" where? 4-Terms like, "the truth" limit the very notion & speak only to a limited mindset. 5-"the life" makes no sense, -you mean simply, life. You are wrong saying that you can't convince me because you can quite easily. Just present evidence. By evidence I mean actual evidence -as in the dictionary sense of the word- not propped up folklore presented under the guise of evidence. That's all it takes.
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH The truth is religious liars do not want to be responsible to anyone...including their fellow deceived. "Tell you what, YOU get yourself crucified, die, come back from the dead and I will listen to you & then I would look you in the eyes & tell you, "Snap out of it- psycho."
Jack and the bean stalk is a story for kids. Jonah and the whale has a historical setting, the cities mentioned are real, and Jesus Christ quoted it in the New Testament to validate it.
Jesus Said, As Jonah was 3 days and three nights in the whales belly, The Son of Man shall be three days and nights in the heart of the earth. Jesus validates it as a story based on historical truth pointing to His death, burial and Resurrection. Stop being lazy! Look it up yourself!
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH And Spider-Man is real because it's set in a real place. I'm not lazy. I know the verse. You really think someone can survive INSIDE a great fish or a whale even?
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH So, by your logic, if I have a story and quote some cities, then it makes it truth? wow, then you must believe in norse and greek mythology to, buddhism must be high up the list. You are a complete tool.
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH 'Jack & the bean stalk is a story for kids. Jonah & the whale has a historical setting, the cities mentioned are real,"...
O.K. it's not over but I had to allow time for the enormity of ignorance to settle in. O.K. Everybody ready to move on? Rest of the quote? You sure? Hold on! Here it is
..."and Jesus Christ quoted it in the New Testament to validate it.'
There you have it folks. I didn't make it up. It's funny as hell I know but it is not a joke. People think like this.
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH Here's a novel question, what would it take to convince you that all religions are fairy tales? If I swapped Jack & the Bean Stalk with Jonah in the big fish, who would know the difference?
I have read the Koran and the Hadiths. Islam is a religion of war. Islam which came 600 years after Christianity says Jesus Christ is not God the Son, He was not crucified, and men are not sinners. There is nothing supernatural about 1 book that claims to have dropped out of Heaven.
There is something about a book that is compromised of 66 different books, written on 3 different continents, most of the writers never met one another, but all claim to have met God
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH I encourage you to skim over a list of inconsistencies in the Bible. Some can be "interpreted away" but so can anything in the Bible. Point is, the Bible was written by Bronze-age men. Not an all-powerful being. ww.infidels.org/library/modern/donald_morgan/inconsistencies.html
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH "There is nothing supernatural about 1 book that claims to have dropped out of Heaven."
"There IS something [supernatural] about a book that is compromised of 66 different books, written on 3 different continents, most of the writers never met one another, but all claim to have met God."
You have never read the Bible. You love darkness rather than light because your deeds are evil.
I'm fascinated how people deny the existence of God and them set out to correct God on how he revealed himself to mankind. The Bible is an amazing book. The only revelation from God to man. The problem is not the Bible, the problem is the dishonesty employed in the reading of it. What evidence are you prepared to accept concerning God's existence? My guess is none!
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH I have read the Bible. Maybe not as much as yourself, but now why would I? Have you read the Koran? I don't expect you to as a Christian. Evidence for God? How about any evidence that meets scientific standards? I.e., the standards that the brightest human minds have conceived to separate fact from fantasy? If he can do anything, he can easily prove his existence. Therefore, he's either not real, lazy, or not all-powerful.
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH I have read the Bible. Maybe not as much as yourself, but now why would I? Have you read the Koran? I don't expect you to as a Christian. Evidence for God? @TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH U have read the Bible. U love light rather than dark because your deeds are righteous? I'm fascinated how people accept the existence of God & then set out to correct others on how they are to reveal themselves to God. The Bible is a plagiarized book, one of many such revelations from man to God. The problem is the Bible, & the dishonesty which HAS to be employed in the reading of it. What evidence is anyone able to present concerning God's existence? No guessing- none!
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH Our intelligence and skill at manipulating our environment instead of adapting to it is our environmental niche, and any other species that came into competition in with us in that niche wouldn't do very well because humans are well established and we have a much higher population relative to our average adult body mass than other species do.
Just because a person gets killed by killer bees does not give them dominion. Sharks are fairly limited wouldn't you say? Can they build a boat? An Airplane? Are there shark universities, shark hospitals? Get the point sinner?
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH Are you sure you read my comment? I never said that humans are not smarter, though some animals can do cognitive things we can't, like cuttlefish learning before they hatch. But there's no reason other than our huge genetic success to think of our intelligence as different than the adaptations of other species.
There's a simple reason why we're the only such species. Any other land species evolving towards high intelligence would come into direct competition with us.
@paularenas26 Because everyday people do not rely on proof or disproof. They rely on evidence and reason to give them an understanding of the true nature of what they believe. This section is a particularly thought-provoking segment from the show and I thought I would repost it to both show support and share the message.
@Lunabeam1 HEY WELL SAID!!! I can't believe we have to put up with this crap every single day of our lives when all we all want is to be happy .... some fucking GOD
@tgfcoder Clearly our intelligence is "better", if by that you mean "more adaptive", considering how well we've done in the ecosystem. However, @6gunwalker, you're making an argument from incredulity: just because you can only think of one way something happened, that doesn't mean that's how it happened, not unless you can prove your one idea is exhaustive. You're making the tacit assumption that there is some design or purpose behind our traits, which is not a sound assumption to make.
@vgmjbpkcdmqd When I see animals building zoos and putting people in them, I'll agree men are not smarter. But as the Bible and experience both teach, men, not animals have dominion over the earth.
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH oh my days can these dumb fuck theists get any stupider... here's the evidence in your statement right here... I know at least 5 donkeys that could outwit you alone....lol nob end
@TPOTTHEPOETOFTRUTH Exactly! Where are the Zoos built by animals to house humans? Stupid animals. Losers. Everyone knows that the sign of higher intelligence is the level at which you can successfully subjugate another species for you entertainment.
some examples... did the eagle over a million years grow wings?? with logic and reason can you define wether the chicken came first or the egg?? why is our immune system programmed to fight alien bacteria?
@6gunwalker The evolution of birds is indeed an interesting topic beyond the scope of a small comment box. You can read about it on the Wiki page (Evolution of birds.) I haven't done the research, but I believe eggs came about first by being sacs, which then got progressively harder until they formed into shells. You have to realise that the animals we have today were not the animals we had 100 million years ago. If you went back in time you would never be able to find the "first" chicken.
@tgfcoder it is a topic that one cannot argue with in just a few words but to relinquish to the "lets go back a couple of million years back" excuse just poses more questions such as "is carbon dating 200% acurate?" can athiests explain in logic and reason that the sun is older than the earth rotating around its orbit more than a trillion times?(millions of years) if the egg came first as you say why then after hatching would it grow wings or gradually grow wings???
@6gunwalker Carbon dating is sound when applied properly, yes. We know because we cross-check it with things that we know the age of by history, or other methods. And it's never been wildly wrong. Just like surgery is effective, when done properly. Different dating methods are used to date the universe. If you're unsure of the evidence of an old universe, I suggest looking up a site called "TalkOrigins". There is a plethora of writings that you will find informative, should you care to read it.
@6gunwalker I didn't say the egg came first. The question "What came first, the egg or the chicken?" shows a fundamental misunderstanding. If you trace one chicken's ancestry back millions of years you will never find an abrupt change for example a live-born chicken that lays an egg. No, the change is gradual, all the way back.
@6gunwalker The problem arises because humans simply label animals "Chickens" or "Ostriches" or whatever. They don't suddenly morph into different animals. Just like we give names to different colours like red, yellow, blue, but there are many many shades in between. It is a simple and false belief to think that modern day animals have always existed and always been around. Like imagine a poodle dog around with dinosaurs. That's just silly. Same with what we call "chickens" today.
@6gunwalker And this is the reason biologists use a different classification of animals, by kingdom, order, etc etc down to species. Even that is fundamentally arbitrary, because every species is a transition between what it was before and what it will be in the future.
@tgfcoder this brings up another question that evolutionists have to answer... why is it that homosapiens evolve and other species havnt? why hasnt the crocodile (which is a direct decendant of the dinosaurs able to communicate intelligently like us humans? why arent any animals of other classifications able to evolve into intelligent complex beings such as the sapien??? surely if man evolved from apes than other species who wer around the same time should have evolved as well???
@6gunwalker Good question! All species have evolved the same amount. Evolution is not like Pokemon (like I used to think) where the species get "better". Evolution is just change (for better or worse.) Improvements generally happen because the species outdo their competitors. If we lived in a cold world, only those with thick fur survive, etc., so fur is "better". Intelligence is not always a survival factor-- look at cockroaches that can survive nuclear blasts.
@6gunwalker Other animals do have primitive communication methods, which is to show that communication does aid the survival of groups and therefore the individuals in a species. If dolphins had evolved speech and apes hadn't, they would be wondering why we didn't. I'd like to repeat-- Homo Sapiens is not at the top of an evolution "ladder". No such ladder exists, evolution only changes animals gradually to something different, not "better". Natural selection kills off the weak ones.
@tgfcoder ummmm i dont know where you draw the conclusion that homo sapiens are not at the top of the food chain lol but in case your logic and reason has evaded you for some reason i beg to differ based on the fact our intelligence can wipe off every other specie on our planet, if we chose too, do not act like you dont know this... we humans can choose wther a creature dies or lives here on earth... period!
@6gunwalker I didn't say the top of the food chain, I said "evolutionary ladder" -- people often think that things evolve upwards always getting stronger and smarter and that humans are the most evolved of all the animals. This is completely wrong. And there is no "De-evolution" either. Any change to an animal species whether bad, neutral or good, is evolution. So it doesn't go "up", it goes "different", I guess, haha. Sure humans control and dominate the world. That's easy to see.
@tgfcoder but that contradicts the evolution theory that suggests species evolved through due process over supposedly millions of years.. if homo sapiens went from X to Y through natrual selections why didnt reptiles who correct me if im wrng as old as the dinosaurs have not evolved to an intelligent being such as ourselves???
@6gunwalker It's not contradictory, I think you have the wrong idea of evolution. Evolution is not about a species becoming better. Evolution is a species changing. Natural selection kills of the weak ones. The fact that we are intelligent is a byproduct of evolution, not the goal of evolution. What natural selection does is ensure that only the fittest survive. A human level of intelligence is not required for survival, otherwise all animals would be intelligent (or dead.)
@tgfcoder tggfcoder im sorry but ive already tried that route of thinking and it still doesnt complete the question, if anything it poses more questions. i struggle to understand that chance chose our species instead of other species who have had the same timeframe and due process to evolve. you say intelligence is a by product of evolution then why hasnt any other specie picked up on it??
@6gunwalker Why haven't we evolved echolocation like whales and bats? Why is our hearing more limited than dogs? It all does really come down to chance. All other spieces *have* had the same amount of evolving time, they just didn't evolve the same unique traits that we did.
@tgfcoder but that doesnt answer the question why our species is at the top of the food chain.. when from an evolution point of view the law of averages should even things out. instead we sapiens are holding all the cards and are so dominant all other species become irrevalant as far as "survival of the fittest" comes into question.
@tgfcoder your mere comparison of dogs hearing more superior than ours is irevelant as the dogs hearing is a function designed to perfectly fit its enviroment and social structure. same thing goes with whales and bats their "functions" are designed to fit into its enviroment and context and for us humans to learn from. if the dogs super hearing is a trait why then hasnt it dominated us?? if whales n bats echolocation is a trait why then hasnt it dominated us?
@6gunwalker Wait, so are you attempt to say that there are no intelligent species out there except us? If that's the case, I'm going to laugh you right off this fucking forum.
@tgfcoder another question that arises from your claims that our species came into "changing" while other species who have had the same time frame did not mutate any form of intelligence remotely close to ours is the law of averages.... if chance missed 7 species then the proberbility that it would even out with another one is more likely. why is it that the intelligent gene not evenly distributed??
@6gunwalker It's probably the case that the genetic mutations required to breed our complex brains are rare enough that only line of species picked it up. Then again, in nature, intelligence is just a trait. Why is intelligence any better than the ability to fly, or smell things a mile away, or have eagle-eye vision? In a cold harsh world where it's fight or die, being a brute has more advantages than being able to do long division.
@tgfcoder if intelligence is just a trait like superior hearing or flying or sight or smell than why is it that we sapiens are by far the dominant??? youre comparing a gift to a function. intelligence is why we can chose wether a species is wiped out or preserved. in a cold hard world why hasnt the lion or bear or gorillias or elephants or any animal alive whose strength far surpasses ours ever had a advantage over us humans??? our intelligence has always munipulated strength hands dwn
@tgfcoder everything was designed for our purposes. when everything was designed it was created with "us" humans in mind. the dogs hearing was usefll for our protection, service in farming, companionship. whales and bats taught us the possiblity of communicating under water with sonar abilities(submarines).. our curiosity has created technology that far surpasses any other "trait" on earth. reason? that we discover who created us.. its all hidden in the hopes that we discover da creatr
@6gunwalker The reason we think our own intelligence is superior to every other animal's is because it's our survival instinct. Think about it, we are slowly killing the planet, starving it of resources and making species extinct. This makes us good? From nature's point of view, we are the single worst species on this planet. We threaten the extinction of the planet. If we really are smart, it's time to start using our brains and look at the big picture. There's no God. Grow up.
imagine God being so powerful, so wise, that he could actually choose a specific point in time to be born into the world, choose 12 men who are ignorant and unlearned, perform miracles,
actually be put to death, Rise from the dead, and use those 12 (actually eleven) (one committed suicide)
and still reached the world with his message. There is no coffin because Jesus rose from the dead.
God used death to bring us to life! Wow! Wow! Wow!
@6gunwalker As I said before, if it had been any other animal that evolved to a point of asking these questions, they would be wondering why it had been them and not any other animal. It's not really a coincidence, but it's just how things played out.
@6gunwalker By using the word "programmed" already sways the question towards design. Our immune system, as well as no other part of our body, is programmed. It is a system of biological structures, that through chemical reactions etc. (how cells work) they fight off bacteria. They don't always work--cancer still kills people. Our immune system is as much evolved as our eyes and hands are.
god is a loose term for all mighty, all knowning etc.. we humans with our limited capabilities is only naming something that surpasses everything that we cant even understand with our imagination. is a human trait. your bets are all on chance, chaotic coincidance which still does not answer why there is a universe in the first plce. if i was to randomly throw particles of clay together frm diffrent angles etc i would get a random lump with nothing.. however if i was to plan, mould the clay.. ??
@6gunwalker I see where you're coming from. Actually, the universe is not all randomness. As you know, everything is governed by the laws of physics. Gravity, mass, motion, etc. What happens is small randomness creates variations and following these rules, patterns emerge. For example, why are rainbows perfectly round? It has to do with the laws of nature. Nobody designed it, the pattern emerges. In plants and animals, the theory of evolution by natural selection explains this system well.
@tgfcoder laws of gravity, physics, did they just randomly appear out of nowhere? did protons and neutrons just show up un announced? you see youre quick to point out laws of nature and its work in the natrual selection process but what is nature? explain what force is doing this? where is the beginnings why everything is alive? if chemicals is your answer then why cant we humans use chemicals to ressurect a dead corpse? we are here today gone tommrw so whats the point??
@6gunwalker Just because I can't explain where the universe came from doesn't mean you're right. There are people much smarter than me such as Krauss, Hawking, who would be able to give you a much better answer. Our simple human mind makes it easy for us to believe that it was just designed and created, but no evidence in reality actually points to that. Therefore, anyone who is intellectually honest and has the facts, rejects the God hypothesis.
@6gunwalker Animals and plants compete for survival. The ones that die off don't pass on their genetic codes, and the ones that make it do. Therefore we see more species with these "desirable" traits. Over billions of years, these changes accumulate into the wide variety of plants and animals we have today. Animals go extinct all the time, mainly unnoticed. It's all part of the natural process.
ATHIESTS CANT EVEN PROVE THE ROCK THEY STAND ON.... PROVE TO US BELIEVERS THAT GOD DOESNT EXISIT.. WITHOUT USING FOOLISH MISTAKES OF MAN IN HISTORY AS EXAMPLES..... IF ATHIESTS BELIVE IN I THINK THEREFORE I AM..... PLZ EXPLAIN TO US WHAT U WERE BEFORE YOU CAME INTO EXISTANCE? BEFORE THE BIG BANG???? WHERE DID THE PROTONS AND NEUTRONS COME FROM??????
@6gunwalker The proof of burden lies with those who make the claim. Atheists do not necessarily claim they know a specific God or gods do not exist. Atheism just means "I don't buy it." Just like I don't buy Santa, the tooth fairy, or bigfoot. I could answer your question about the universe's beginning but it would fall on deaf ears. The point is, having no answer is better than having a wrong one.
@tgfcoder wrong answer atheisim is a belief that there is no god. or that god does not exsist...... i believe the term youre trying to define is agnostic which means one who does not know without a doubt if there is a god. please fill me in with your logic and reasoning the universe's beginnings im very keen to learn... that is if you can...
@6gunwalker You should know that agnostic comes from the Greek work gnosis meaning knowledge, and atheism/theism deals with belief. Not the same. Therefore, agnostics are not just "unsure". In fact you can be a very firm agnostic. I won't go into detail, you are capable of using Wikipedia. As for the origins of the universe, I recommend a lecture by Lawrence Krauss from 2009 called "A Universe From Nothing". You can find it on YouTube. Other than that, research the Big Bang theory.
@6gunwalker Or not having a proven answer, I should say, because scientific inquiry has provided many plausible theories about the origins of the Universe.
@tgfcoder scientific inquiry is only limited to our human capabilities. since the turn of new technologies and scientific discoveries all of a sudden athiests jump on the bandwagon and think "hey we have this tool logic and reasoning we can solve problems and can do with out this god nonsense, nevermind the fact that we have to 100% prove without a shadow of a doubt that god doesnt exsist lets just put ourselves as the centrepoint and use every mistake and stupidity christians made.
@6gunwalker As I said before, the burden of proof lies on those who make the claim. If you tell me there is a giant invisible dragon in my room, I would expect proof. Can I smell it? Can I feel it? No? If there is absolutely no difference between my room as it was before, why would I believe this dragon exists? I don't need to "100% prove without a shadow of a doubt" that it doesn't exist, because it hasn't been proven to exist in the first place. Science is limited, yes. But religion is moreso.
@tgfcoder i believe there is a devine entity in no comparison to us.. thats my stance, i assumed your stance is that you do not belive in the exsistance of this entity, therefore you are an athiest (correct me if im wrong). in saying and assuming your stance i belive you are also making a claim in which i think you also have the burden to prove your claims. is that not a fair call?
@6gunwalker This is a claim: "God exists and he is really changing the world." This is not a claim: "I don't believe that. In fact I have good reasons why that probably isn't true."
@tgfcoder lol you said that this is not a claim " I dont belive that, in fact i have good reasons why that proberbly isnt true." tgfcoder if you were in court and someone made a claim that you stole something, they read out thier interpretation of events, and then you had a chance to tell your side of the coin, "claiming" that he lied does that not warrant a claim?? i say X exsists = my claims you warrant that X does not exsist = your claims..
@6gunwalker But it's like going to court and someone made a claim that I stole something but had no evidence. I don't even NEED to say "I didn't do it." And if I did there would be no point since there's no evidence against me anyway. The person prosecuting me has the burden of proof.
Here's another example. I found floozeywuzzles in my bedroom last night. They are a neon blue colour and they smell like vanilla. Now, where is your 100% proof that they don't exist?
@tgfcoder to be able to make it into court or to have a case in the first place your evidence, witnesses etc would have to be cross examined by a solicitor who would then decide or merit that it could stand in court. im claiming that everything in our natrual world points to a "entity" that created intelligent designs. its a cause n effect. nothing in our world begat out of nothing. X created Y therefore Y is in effect. and dont ask me questions that you yourself cant answer
@6gunwalker My main contention to the first cause argument would be: why call it God? For all we know, the universe could have been created incidentally by some colliding particles in a different universe. Even that is stretching it, because nobody knows if there even was a "before" the universe began. At least for us, time started with the universe, so there is no before. As for the design argument, can you give specific examples?
@6gunwalker Fair call if someone says "God doesn't exist," you might ask them to further substantiate that. But not all atheists make that claim. My personal opinion is that not only is evidence for a creator shaky at best (or non existent on closer inspection) there are questions raised about a creator, for example why does he kill innocent people (even Christians) ... "A divine plan" is an excuse and anyone can see that. Why would God just kill innocent people, unless it wasn't God.
@tgfcoder then i believe you are unsure if there is a god. if people say "i am an athiest" thats all the claims they need because in retrospect what they are suggesting is "there is NO god" simple. people who arent so bold and maybe have that nagging little doubt of "maybe im not so sure" fall in ceck with the agnostics. and please give me actual historical accounts where god kills innocent people, your claims are typical of athiests and agnostics, always throwing words around.
@6gunwalker Atheism (n.) the belief that God doesn't exist. A belief is not a claim. God kills innocent people: 1 Chronicles 21:14 God kills 70,000 innocent people, Deuteronomy 3 God orders the death of women and children, Joshua 6 God orders killing living creatures including men and women, young and old, Judges 21 God orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, 2 Kings 10:18-27 God orders the murder of all worshippers of a different god.
@6gunwalker I think the main thing that I want to make clear is that Christianity (for example) is an organised religion. Atheism is not an "alternative" religion, or any religion at all for that matter. An atheist is what you are if you don't pick any religion.
@tgfcoder can your nose smell gravity? does your senses permit you to touch gravity? yet we know that the law of gravity is scientifically proven? please dont insult me with a puff the magic dragon analogy. there are alot of things on earth that we cannot comprehend using just our 5 senses why then claim god is only true if i can touch or smell??
@tgfcoder obviously it is, but i used that example to highlight the flaws in your reasoning, "i need to touch and smell the dragon to validate something before i can believe it as true" 5 sense reasoning is usefull and limited to only so much.
said "Because 1 day in God's time is 1 day in our time???"
Since each creation day in Genesis is followed by "and then it was evening, and then it was morning, and that was the first (second, third, etc,) day"
Yes, a day is a day. Any wild mental contortions you do to rationalize Genesis as anything more than primitive man's mythical nonsense only makes you look even more delusional.
Wait....so the nail in the coffin for Christianity is this prime specimen of a man, who judging by his appearance has every right to hate a non-existing God, spouting off on youtube how God isn't using the correct means of delivery for his message??? I guess he's right though....I mean....if God really is all knowing and all powerful he should have just setup a youtube account to spread his message and a twitter account for Jesus to heal people through right??? Silly God!!
@omfgnonamesavailable Firstly, you shouldn't be an asshole. In regards to the argument, some of us have noticed that God's primary and arguably ONLY method of communication with us is an ancient text written in the Bronze Age by men. A text that is full of errors and atrocities. That's not something an all-powerful creator would do. That's something man would do. It is the nail in the coffin for Matt, as he says here, because it is asinine to make excuses to take the side of God here.
@tgfcoder Sorry, being an asshole is the easiest response for such nonsense. You speak or errors and atrocities in the scriptures, could you give an example that isn't an opinion? And seeing how you apparantly have some insight as to how an all-powerful creator WOULD pass along this information, please advise us.
@omfgnonamesavailable, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that slavery and killing women and babies is disgusting. It also doesn't take a genius to see that there are no birds with 4 legs. Reading scripture is your job, not mine. A creator might pass on information in any number of scientifically valid ways. For example, answering prayer in double blind experiments. Re-arranging stars to spell out messages. Facebook. If he can do anything, he can convince me he exists. I'm not convinced.
@MyloDude22 Actually, he did read his Bible and saw that it's full of provably false information, contradictory claims, and just plain nonsense.
The Bible says to kill witches. WITCHES? They don't exist.
The Bible talks about unicorns. Do you actually believe in unicorns?
Six day creation? Not even close to accurate. Google K-T Boundary to see how we know that all of the large dinosaurs died out 65 million years before the first people.
The Bible is like history class - without the facts.
@ndrthrdr1 I wasn't talking about Matt, I was responding to tgfcoder who was discussing evolution with omfgnonamesavailable. omfgnonamesavailable claimed there were no atrocities or contradictions in the Bible.
@tgfcoder You are talking about historical facts.....slavery and sacrifice existed whether or not you believe in the bible....LOL are you serious right now?? And birds with 4 legs?? What does that have to do with the price of rice in China??
@omfgnonamesavailable Said "You speak or errors and atrocities in the scriptures, could you give an example that isn't an opinion?"
Error: Everything created in 6 days.
WRONG!
Atrocities:
Drowning all animals and all people (except 2 of each animal and one family of people) - which would include all of those evil kittens and bunny rabbits, and all of those evil babies and fetuses and toddlers.
Your mythology is laughable, which is why we laugh at you christards.
@ndrthrdr1 Because 1 day in God's time is 1 day in our time??? I must have missed that part in the bible. Oh and by atrocities you mean life?? Cuz I'm sure you are cursing God for the earthquake in Japan or the tsunamis right?? What about the flooding in New Orleans?? Oh wait, those are all Bush's fault huh?? God and Bush must both hate black people and libtards! At least you idiots are as lazy in your knowledge as you are in life.
@omfgnonamesavailable actually said "What about the flooding in New Orleans?? Oh wait, those are all Bush's fault huh??"
What the hell are you talking about? You asked for an example of an atrocity in the Bible. I gave an obvious one - an imaginary flood that your magical sky wizard supposedly produced to mass murder almost all animals and people. Then you talk about the New Orleans flood?
Again, what the hell are you talking about, religiotard?
@ndrthrdr1 Wait wait wait!! You actually believe that flood was an attrocity committed by God to kill off innocent people and animals, yet you laugh at me for bringing up New Orleans?? LOL!! Boy you "atheists" really know how to pick and choose dont you! That "attrocity" was going to happen either way. God didn't create the flood the kill people. Noah simply listened to the advice given him to save as many as he could. The morons talking about cloud wizards obviously missed the boat...
@ndrthrdr1 (Part 2) Soooo....just like New Orleans was not an "act of God" to kill of innocents, neither was your lame example. Now lets see, just to recap here. You are using a flood (which you don't even believe happened) as an example of an attrocity commited by a God (you also don't believe exists) as a means to disprove the existence of the God you already don't believe in??? ROFL!!!! Oh the irony!! I can see we are done here......
@omfgnonamesavailable said " You are using a flood (which you don't even believe happened) as an example of an attrocity commited by a God (you also don't believe exists) as a means to disprove the existence of the God you already don't believe in??? "
You asked for an example of your sky wizard committing an atrocity in your ridiculous book of mythology. I gave one. I wasn't trying to disprove anything. Your laughable myths disprove themselves.
@ndrthrdr1 I asked for an example that wasn't an opinion. Your opinion is that a flood you don't even believe happened was an atrocity. My opinion is you are probably wearing a helmet right now.......
@omfgnonamesavailable actually said "Your opinion is that a flood you don't even believe happened was an atrocity. My opinion is you are probably wearing a helmet right now......."
You believe that an invisible, telepathic wizard made everything magically appear out of nothing (POOF!) with his superpowers, based on a book that says that a man lived inside a big fish for three days. Enough said.
@omfgnonamesavailable The theory of evolution doesn't say that humans came from monkeys, dumb shit. Read a book. You know, one that was written by people who aren't in a cult that worships a magician in the sky. Actual science texts contain truth. Your ridiculous Bronze Age book is provably false.
@ndrthrdr1 You call God a magician in the sky and then get all butthurt when I call you out on your stupid theory?? LOL I don't need to read a lame ass book written by some hippie liberal with a degree in social science to know the theory of evolution is just that..a theory. NOT science. It's stupidity in its highest form.Go smoke another bowl and them come back and give me some great ideas on how to cure world hunger. Being a weak minded idiot must be a blessing for you. Proud Parents im sure!
@omfgnonamesavailable Anyone who says "just a theory" is simply displaying ignorance of the meaning of a scientific theory. Do you also think that the theory that describes germs as the real causes of diseases (instead of your pathetic demons-and-sin biblical causes) is "just a theory"? How about the theory of gravity?
You should do our species a favor and punch yourself in the nuts until you're sure that you can't pass on the stupid gene that you inherited from your religiotard parents.
@ndrthrdr1 LOL....you are seriously the epitomy of stupid! The theory that describes germs as the real cause of diseases??? LOL!! Don't get too specific or anything. I would hate for you to get hurt by accualy exerting yourself to do some research. And i'm guessing you mean the LAW of gravity....which isn't actually a theory, but someone whos parents did way too many drugs and dropped their children on their head can't be expected to know 2nd grade science. So I forgive you.
imagine God being so powerful, so wise, that he could actually choose a specific point in time to be born into the world, choose 12 men who are ignorant and unlearned, perform miracles,
actually be put to death, Rise from the dead, and use those 12 (actually eleven) (one committed suicide)
and still reached the world with his message. There is no coffin because Jesus rose from the dead.
God used death to bring us to life! Wow! Wow! Wow!
@ndrthrdr1 Or maybe I could ask your monkey brothers and sisters?? You know, it's pretty embarrassing for the human race if we evolved from monkeys and yet todays monkeys are still smarter than you......Maybe you should think about going through with the abortion your mom decided not to get, but wishes she would have?? It would make a lot of people's days im sure!!
@omfgnonamesavailable what is embarassing is the behavior of millions of people of generation upon generations of religious fueled nut jobs that have committed countless atrocities in the name of GOD and continue to manipulate modern civilisation of to the point exstinction based upon a book written in an ancient land by ancient persons that said that it came from someone super being that won't prove he exsists..... for shame
@omfgnonamesavailable Tell me this, do you hate Thomas in the bible? Atheists are basically just 'doubting Thomases', we need god to show us that it exists before we believe it. Jesus physically showed himself to Thomas and physically talked to Thomas, why doesn't your god do the same for atheists?
@VectorMatt No, I don't waste my energy hating people, especially people I don't know. Anyhow, why not just take Thomas's word for it? If 50 cent told you it hurts to get shot would you have someone shoot you just so you could be sure? Of course not, but isn't it convenient how in both cases you would prefer the easy road out? There is a reason it's called Faith.
Dont you people all find it strangely remarkable? On one hand we believe that over 95% of the world population is religious, yet every pro atheism video has over 90% thumbs up, and every pro religion video has over 90% thumbs down, is it me, or is the new generation going towards a godless world?
@Bratcipheo Both the fact that there is a vibrant and involved atheist community here on YouTube coupled with the fact that most moderate religious people are ignorant of counter-positions in general contribute to this result. It's time to spread the real good news -- you can be good without God!
Frankly, it's this video that is stupid. 1. There is a higher level of consistency in the manuscripts than any other document of antiquity. 2. God calls on us to use faith and trust, two of the most important qualities in existence. 3. Apparently the message has begun to get out, considering how many billion Christians there are.
@landsdown44 1. Even if that is true, it's like saying "he the tallest midget." 2. Circular argument, moot point. Faith is just belief without evidence, and trust has nothing to do with the nature of good or bad evidence. 3. For every 4 Christians there is 1 active Facebook user, and Facebook didn't start 2000 years ago. The point is about the nature of evidence. What a coincidence God used ancient text to communicate with us, just like men did in the Bronze age. Sells himself short doesn't he?
@landsdown44 Its only stupid if you believe and use your feelings. If you are unbiased and use your reasoning, his statements to the creditably of the bible are pretty self evident. But you cannot come to the right conclusion because if what you have already decided. It is the systemic weakness of all mankind that he will always turn to his feelings before he has a chance to reason. I am not affiliated with any atheist group, i am agnostic.
"The God that Christians believe in is amazingly stupid..." - Wow! Talk about delusions of grandeur.....this wee baldy dude actually believes he's smarter than God....which obviously begs the question, how many universes has he created, ex-nihilo?
I'm guessing none....but knowing how Atheists have no boundaries when it comes to making shit up to suit themselves, i'll expect to stand corrected
@DastardlyDawkins Haha, nice comment. Nope, no universe creating here. He's just making that off-the-cuff remark based on observations of what "God" has apparently done, which I won't need to explain again since it's in the video.

For example, if a pastor verbally declares to a congregation of more than one that a free lunch is to be served following the service, more than one individual could experience a verbal revelation simultaneously.
paularenas26 1 week ago
chirectomy @paularenas - "in terms and ideas to call anything a revelation that comes to us at second hand, either verbally or in writing.Revelation is necessarily limited to the first communication."

Really.
Cansololife 3 weeks ago
@Cansololife I have read MY Bible. Have YOU read the Bible? He wasn't "trying to convey a message," he sent his son for a purpose. To give us salvation and everlasting life. People have become distant from God because of sin. It separates us from him and the gift of faith. Draw close to Him and He will reveal the truth to you. But you won't. You won't put in the work even for the chance at faith. Because you don't WANT to believe. The work required is prayer and devotion to reading the Bible.
ChaunaDyan 1 week ago
@ChaunaDyan I have read your Bible, several times, actually. I love how you try to down-play what your Bible says in it. You Christians love to pick and choose what to, and not to believe, or call a metaphor; it's really pathetic.
1) God didn't send His son, he sent a human clone of himself, so Jesus was basically God.
2) People have distanced themselves from religion, because more and more of them are realizing how stupid it is.
3) God sent himself, to save us from rules he made?
Cansololife 1 week ago
@ChaunaDyan I really suggest you get a clue, and soon. You're entirely too old to be believing in ridiculous bullshit like God. It's lunatics like you, who in the face of evidence, hold on to ideals that have long since proven to be immoral. You, like so many others, are not a real Christian. You don't follow exactly what the Bible says, because if you did, you'd have to run around murdering people constantly.
Your God is a lie, and your religion is a disease.

It's just so inconsistent that it should be viewed with utter suspicion and contempt.

I have read the Koran and the Hadiths. Islam is a religion of war. Islam which came 600 years after Christianity says Jesus Christ is not God the Son, He was not crucified, and men are not sinners. There is nothing supernatural about 1 book that claims to have dropped out of Heaven.
There is something about a book that is compromised of 66 different books, written on 3 different continents, most of the writers never met one another, but all claim to have met God
and he spoke to them.

If he can do anything, he can easily prove his existence. Therefore, he's either not real, lazy, or not all-powerful.

There's a simple reason why we're the only such species. Any other land species evolving towards high intelligence would come into direct competition with us.

But as the Bible and experience both teach, men, not animals have dominion over the earth.

some examples... did the eagle over a million years grow wings?? with logic and reason can you define wether the chicken came first or the egg?? why is our immune system programmed to fight alien bacteria?
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker The evolution of birds is indeed an interesting topic beyond the scope of a small comment box. You can read about it on the Wiki page (Evolution of birds.) I haven't done the research, but I believe eggs came about first by being sacs, which then got progressively harder until they formed into shells. You have to realise that the animals we have today were not the animals we had 100 million years ago. If you went back in time you would never be able to find the "first" chicken.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder it is a topic that one cannot argue with in just a few words but to relinquish to the "lets go back a couple of million years back" excuse just poses more questions such as "is carbon dating 200% acurate?" can athiests explain in logic and reason that the sun is older than the earth rotating around its orbit more than a trillion times?(millions of years) if the egg came first as you say why then after hatching would it grow wings or gradually grow wings???
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Carbon dating is sound when applied properly, yes. We know because we cross-check it with things that we know the age of by history, or other methods. And it's never been wildly wrong. Just like surgery is effective, when done properly. Different dating methods are used to date the universe. If you're unsure of the evidence of an old universe, I suggest looking up a site called "TalkOrigins". There is a plethora of writings that you will find informative, should you care to read it.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker I didn't say the egg came first. The question "What came first, the egg or the chicken?" shows a fundamental misunderstanding. If you trace one chicken's ancestry back millions of years you will never find an abrupt change for example a live-born chicken that lays an egg. No, the change is gradual, all the way back.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker The problem arises because humans simply label animals "Chickens" or "Ostriches" or whatever. They don't suddenly morph into different animals. Just like we give names to different colours like red, yellow, blue, but there are many many shades in between. It is a simple and false belief to think that modern day animals have always existed and always been around. Like imagine a poodle dog around with dinosaurs. That's just silly. Same with what we call "chickens" today.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker And this is the reason biologists use a different classification of animals, by kingdom, order, etc etc down to species. Even that is fundamentally arbitrary, because every species is a transition between what it was before and what it will be in the future.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder this brings up another question that evolutionists have to answer... why is it that homosapiens evolve and other species havnt? why hasnt the crocodile (which is a direct decendant of the dinosaurs able to communicate intelligently like us humans? why arent any animals of other classifications able to evolve into intelligent complex beings such as the sapien??? surely if man evolved from apes than other species who wer around the same time should have evolved as well???
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Good question! All species have evolved the same amount. Evolution is not like Pokemon (like I used to think) where the species get "better". Evolution is just change (for better or worse.) Improvements generally happen because the species outdo their competitors. If we lived in a cold world, only those with thick fur survive, etc., so fur is "better". Intelligence is not always a survival factor-- look at cockroaches that can survive nuclear blasts.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Other animals do have primitive communication methods, which is to show that communication does aid the survival of groups and therefore the individuals in a species. If dolphins had evolved speech and apes hadn't, they would be wondering why we didn't. I'd like to repeat-- Homo Sapiens is not at the top of an evolution "ladder". No such ladder exists, evolution only changes animals gradually to something different, not "better". Natural selection kills off the weak ones.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder ummmm i dont know where you draw the conclusion that homo sapiens are not at the top of the food chain lol but in case your logic and reason has evaded you for some reason i beg to differ based on the fact our intelligence can wipe off every other specie on our planet, if we chose too, do not act like you dont know this... we humans can choose wther a creature dies or lives here on earth... period!
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker I didn't say the top of the food chain, I said "evolutionary ladder" -- people often think that things evolve upwards always getting stronger and smarter and that humans are the most evolved of all the animals. This is completely wrong. And there is no "De-evolution" either. Any change to an animal species whether bad, neutral or good, is evolution. So it doesn't go "up", it goes "different", I guess, haha. Sure humans control and dominate the world. That's easy to see.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder but that contradicts the evolution theory that suggests species evolved through due process over supposedly millions of years.. if homo sapiens went from X to Y through natrual selections why didnt reptiles who correct me if im wrng as old as the dinosaurs have not evolved to an intelligent being such as ourselves???
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker It's not contradictory, I think you have the wrong idea of evolution. Evolution is not about a species becoming better. Evolution is a species changing. Natural selection kills of the weak ones. The fact that we are intelligent is a byproduct of evolution, not the goal of evolution. What natural selection does is ensure that only the fittest survive. A human level of intelligence is not required for survival, otherwise all animals would be intelligent (or dead.)
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder tggfcoder im sorry but ive already tried that route of thinking and it still doesnt complete the question, if anything it poses more questions. i struggle to understand that chance chose our species instead of other species who have had the same timeframe and due process to evolve. you say intelligence is a by product of evolution then why hasnt any other specie picked up on it??
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Why haven't we evolved echolocation like whales and bats? Why is our hearing more limited than dogs? It all does really come down to chance. All other spieces *have* had the same amount of evolving time, they just didn't evolve the same unique traits that we did.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder but that doesnt answer the question why our species is at the top of the food chain.. when from an evolution point of view the law of averages should even things out. instead we sapiens are holding all the cards and are so dominant all other species become irrevalant as far as "survival of the fittest" comes into question.
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker we won't and don't dominate micro organisms.... periodically we suffer pan demics that ravage our species....
ferret630 1 month ago
@tgfcoder your mere comparison of dogs hearing more superior than ours is irevelant as the dogs hearing is a function designed to perfectly fit its enviroment and social structure. same thing goes with whales and bats their "functions" are designed to fit into its enviroment and context and for us humans to learn from. if the dogs super hearing is a trait why then hasnt it dominated us?? if whales n bats echolocation is a trait why then hasnt it dominated us?
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Wait, so are you attempt to say that there are no intelligent species out there except us? If that's the case, I'm going to laugh you right off this fucking forum.
Cansololife 1 week ago
@tgfcoder another question that arises from your claims that our species came into "changing" while other species who have had the same time frame did not mutate any form of intelligence remotely close to ours is the law of averages.... if chance missed 7 species then the proberbility that it would even out with another one is more likely. why is it that the intelligent gene not evenly distributed??
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker It's probably the case that the genetic mutations required to breed our complex brains are rare enough that only line of species picked it up. Then again, in nature, intelligence is just a trait. Why is intelligence any better than the ability to fly, or smell things a mile away, or have eagle-eye vision? In a cold harsh world where it's fight or die, being a brute has more advantages than being able to do long division.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder if intelligence is just a trait like superior hearing or flying or sight or smell than why is it that we sapiens are by far the dominant??? youre comparing a gift to a function. intelligence is why we can chose wether a species is wiped out or preserved. in a cold hard world why hasnt the lion or bear or gorillias or elephants or any animal alive whose strength far surpasses ours ever had a advantage over us humans??? our intelligence has always munipulated strength hands dwn
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@tgfcoder everything was designed for our purposes. when everything was designed it was created with "us" humans in mind. the dogs hearing was usefll for our protection, service in farming, companionship. whales and bats taught us the possiblity of communicating under water with sonar abilities(submarines).. our curiosity has created technology that far surpasses any other "trait" on earth. reason? that we discover who created us.. its all hidden in the hopes that we discover da creatr
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker The reason we think our own intelligence is superior to every other animal's is because it's our survival instinct. Think about it, we are slowly killing the planet, starving it of resources and making species extinct. This makes us good? From nature's point of view, we are the single worst species on this planet. We threaten the extinction of the planet. If we really are smart, it's time to start using our brains and look at the big picture. There's no God. Grow up.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder I Can't believe what i just heard.

actually be put to death, Rise from the dead, and use those 12 (actually eleven) (one committed suicide)
and still reached the world with his message.

Do you have any other questions?
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker By using the word "programmed" already sways the question towards design. Our immune system, as well as no other part of our body, is programmed. It is a system of biological structures, that through chemical reactions etc. (how cells work) they fight off bacteria. They don't always work--cancer still kills people. Our immune system is as much evolved as our eyes and hands are.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
god is a loose term for all mighty, all knowning etc.. we humans with our limited capabilities is only naming something that surpasses everything that we cant even understand with our imagination. is a human trait. your bets are all on chance, chaotic coincidance which still does not answer why there is a universe in the first plce. if i was to randomly throw particles of clay together frm diffrent angles etc i would get a random lump with nothing.. however if i was to plan, mould the clay.. ??
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker I see where you're coming from. Actually, the universe is not all randomness. As you know, everything is governed by the laws of physics. Gravity, mass, motion, etc. What happens is small randomness creates variations and following these rules, patterns emerge. For example, why are rainbows perfectly round? It has to do with the laws of nature. Nobody designed it, the pattern emerges. In plants and animals, the theory of evolution by natural selection explains this system well.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder laws of gravity, physics, did they just randomly appear out of nowhere? did protons and neutrons just show up un announced? you see youre quick to point out laws of nature and its work in the natrual selection process but what is nature? explain what force is doing this? where is the beginnings why everything is alive? if chemicals is your answer then why cant we humans use chemicals to ressurect a dead corpse? we are here today gone tommrw so whats the point??
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Just because I can't explain where the universe came from doesn't mean you're right. There are people much smarter than me such as Krauss, Hawking, who would be able to give you a much better answer. Our simple human mind makes it easy for us to believe that it was just designed and created, but no evidence in reality actually points to that. Therefore, anyone who is intellectually honest and has the facts, rejects the God hypothesis.
tgfcoder 2 months ago

6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker The proof of burden lies with those who make the claim. Atheists do not necessarily claim they know a specific God or gods do not exist. Atheism just means "I don't buy it." Just like I don't buy Santa, the tooth fairy, or bigfoot. I could answer your question about the universe's beginning but it would fall on deaf ears. The point is, having no answer is better than having a wrong one.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder wrong answer atheisim is a belief that there is no god. or that god does not exsist...... i believe the term youre trying to define is agnostic which means one who does not know without a doubt if there is a god. please fill me in with your logic and reasoning the universe's beginnings im very keen to learn... that is if you can...
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker You should know that agnostic comes from the Greek work gnosis meaning knowledge, and atheism/theism deals with belief. Not the same. Therefore, agnostics are not just "unsure". In fact you can be a very firm agnostic. I won't go into detail, you are capable of using Wikipedia. As for the origins of the universe, I recommend a lecture by Lawrence Krauss from 2009 called "A Universe From Nothing". You can find it on YouTube. Other than that, research the Big Bang theory.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Or not having a proven answer, I should say, because scientific inquiry has provided many plausible theories about the origins of the Universe.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder scientific inquiry is only limited to our human capabilities. since the turn of new technologies and scientific discoveries all of a sudden athiests jump on the bandwagon and think "hey we have this tool logic and reasoning we can solve problems and can do with out this god nonsense, nevermind the fact that we have to 100% prove without a shadow of a doubt that god doesnt exsist lets just put ourselves as the centrepoint and use every mistake and stupidity christians made.
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker As I said before, the burden of proof lies on those who make the claim. If you tell me there is a giant invisible dragon in my room, I would expect proof. Can I smell it? Can I feel it? No? If there is absolutely no difference between my room as it was before, why would I believe this dragon exists? I don't need to "100% prove without a shadow of a doubt" that it doesn't exist, because it hasn't been proven to exist in the first place. Science is limited, yes. But religion is moreso.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder i believe there is a devine entity in no comparison to us.. thats my stance, i assumed your stance is that you do not belive in the exsistance of this entity, therefore you are an athiest (correct me if im wrong). in saying and assuming your stance i belive you are also making a claim in which i think you also have the burden to prove your claims. is that not a fair call?
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker This is a claim: "God exists and he is really changing the world." This is not a claim: "I don't believe that. In fact I have good reasons why that probably isn't true."
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder lol you said that this is not a claim " I dont belive that, in fact i have good reasons why that proberbly isnt true." tgfcoder if you were in court and someone made a claim that you stole something, they read out thier interpretation of events, and then you had a chance to tell your side of the coin, "claiming" that he lied does that not warrant a claim?? i say X exsists = my claims you warrant that X does not exsist = your claims..
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker But it's like going to court and someone made a claim that I stole something but had no evidence. I don't even NEED to say "I didn't do it." And if I did there would be no point since there's no evidence against me anyway. The person prosecuting me has the burden of proof.
Here's another example. I found floozeywuzzles in my bedroom last night. They are a neon blue colour and they smell like vanilla. Now, where is your 100% proof that they don't exist?
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder to be able to make it into court or to have a case in the first place your evidence, witnesses etc would have to be cross examined by a solicitor who would then decide or merit that it could stand in court. im claiming that everything in our natrual world points to a "entity" that created intelligent designs. its a cause n effect. nothing in our world begat out of nothing. X created Y therefore Y is in effect. and dont ask me questions that you yourself cant answer
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker My main contention to the first cause argument would be: why call it God? For all we know, the universe could have been created incidentally by some colliding particles in a different universe. Even that is stretching it, because nobody knows if there even was a "before" the universe began. At least for us, time started with the universe, so there is no before. As for the design argument, can you give specific examples?
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Fair call if someone says "God doesn't exist," you might ask them to further substantiate that. But not all atheists make that claim. My personal opinion is that not only is evidence for a creator shaky at best (or non existent on closer inspection) there are questions raised about a creator, for example why does he kill innocent people (even Christians) ... "A divine plan" is an excuse and anyone can see that. Why would God just kill innocent people, unless it wasn't God.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder then i believe you are unsure if there is a god. if people say "i am an athiest" thats all the claims they need because in retrospect what they are suggesting is "there is NO god" simple. people who arent so bold and maybe have that nagging little doubt of "maybe im not so sure" fall in ceck with the agnostics. and please give me actual historical accounts where god kills innocent people, your claims are typical of athiests and agnostics, always throwing words around.
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Atheism (n.) the belief that God doesn't exist. A belief is not a claim. God kills innocent people: 1 Chronicles 21:14 God kills 70,000 innocent people, Deuteronomy 3 God orders the death of women and children, Joshua 6 God orders killing living creatures including men and women, young and old, Judges 21 God orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, 2 Kings 10:18-27 God orders the murder of all worshippers of a different god.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker There are more.... God directly kills over 300,000 people himself and orders almost 2 million people to be killed. You get the point.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@6gunwalker I think the main thing that I want to make clear is that Christianity (for example) is an organised religion. Atheism is not an "alternative" religion, or any religion at all for that matter. An atheist is what you are if you don't pick any religion.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder can your nose smell gravity? does your senses permit you to touch gravity? yet we know that the law of gravity is scientifically proven? please dont insult me with a puff the magic dragon analogy. there are alot of things on earth that we cannot comprehend using just our 5 senses why then claim god is only true if i can touch or smell??
6gunwalker 2 months ago
@6gunwalker Drop a pen, gravity is trivially demonstrable.
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@tgfcoder obviously it is, but i used that example to highlight the flaws in your reasoning, "i need to touch and smell the dragon to validate something before i can believe it as true" 5 sense reasoning is usefull and limited to only so much.

"Oh and by atrocities you mean life?"
No, I mean the atrocity I specifically mentioned.

omfgnonamesavailable 2 months ago
@omfgnonamesavailable Firstly, you shouldn't be an asshole. In regards to the argument, some of us have noticed that God's primary and arguably ONLY method of communication with us is an ancient text written in the Bronze Age by men. A text that is full of errors and atrocities. That's not something an all-powerful creator would do. That's something man would do. It is the nail in the coffin for Matt, as he says here, because it is asinine to make excuses to take the side of God here.
tgfcoder 2 months ago 8
@tgfcoder Sorry, being an asshole is the easiest response for such nonsense. You speak or errors and atrocities in the scriptures, could you give an example that isn't an opinion? And seeing how you apparantly have some insight as to how an all-powerful creator WOULD pass along this information, please advise us.
omfgnonamesavailable 2 months ago
@omfgnonamesavailable, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that slavery and killing women and babies is disgusting. It also doesn't take a genius to see that there are no birds with 4 legs. Reading scripture is your job, not mine. A creator might pass on information in any number of scientifically valid ways. For example, answering prayer in double blind experiments. Re-arranging stars to spell out messages. Facebook. If he can do anything, he can convince me he exists. I'm not convinced.

@ndrthrdr1 (Part 2) Soooo....just like New Orleans was not an "act of God" to kill of innocents, neither was your lame example. Now lets see, just to recap here. And i'm guessing you mean the LAW of gravity....which isn't actually a theory, but someone whos parents did way too many drugs and dropped their children on their head can't be expected to know 2nd grade science. So I forgive you.

@judoyodan I Can't believe what i just heard.
imagine God being so powerful, so wise, that he could actually choose a specific point in time to be born into the world, choose 12 men who are ignorant and unlearned, perform miracles,
actually be put to death, Rise from the dead, and use those 12 (actually eleven) (one committed suicide)
and still reached the world with his message. There is no coffin because Jesus rose from the dead.
God used death to bring us to life! Wow! Wow! Wow!

@omfgnonamesavailable said "give me some great ideas on how to cure world hunger."
Why not pray that your magical friend will do that?

VectorMatt 2 months ago

Bratcipheo 2 months ago
@Bratcipheo Both the fact that there is a vibrant and involved atheist community here on YouTube coupled with the fact that most moderate religious people are ignorant of counter-positions in general contribute to this result. It's time to spread the real good news -- you can be good without God!

I think god better start blogging and vlogging. He's behind the times, no one reads books anymore.

Frankly, it's this video that is stupid. 1. There is a higher level of consistency in the manuscripts than any other document of antiquity. 2. God calls on us to use faith and trust, two of the most important qualities in existence. 3. Apparently the message has begun to get out, considering how many billion Christians there are.
landsdown44 2 months ago
@landsdown44 1. Even if that is true, it's like saying "he the tallest midget." 2. Circular argument, moot point. Faith is just belief without evidence, and trust has nothing to do with the nature of good or bad evidence. 3. For every 4 Christians there is 1 active Facebook user, and Facebook didn't start 2000 years ago. The point is about the nature of evidence. What a coincidence God used ancient text to communicate with us, just like men did in the Bronze age. Sells himself short doesn't he?
tgfcoder 2 months ago
@landsdown44 Its only stupid if you believe and use your feelings. If you are unbiased and use your reasoning, his statements to the creditably of the bible are pretty self evident. But you cannot come to the right conclusion because if what you have already decided. It is the systemic weakness of all mankind that he will always turn to his feelings before he has a chance to reason. I am not affiliated with any atheist group, i am agnostic.

No, the nail in the coffin for christianity would be if they produced Jesus' dead body.

DastardlyDawkins 3 months ago
@DastardlyDawkins Haha, nice comment. Nope, no universe creating here. He's just making that off-the-cuff remark based on observations of what "God" has apparently done, which I won't need to explain again since it's in the video.
tgfcoder 3 months ago
@tgfcoder
He meant it though, he seriously believes he's smarter than God, whatever way he, or anyone else, might want to spin it.
Thus, the wee man just proved he is guilty of the very thing he constantly accuses Christians of - self-delusion.
