  • i like it but for the voice i like more phil lynott he puts more soul he slow it down and sounds better

  • This is my fav Johnny tune also, He was such an advanced player even 40 yrs ago! way ahead of the pack!

  • Yeah yeah, this and Hustled Down in Texas, ok Miss Ann too. I read that he recorded Second Winter on a gold top Les Paul. Excellent.

  • I've been a Johnny winter fan ever since I knew what a record player was and still listen to all of his music that I can get my hands on.. The Man Just Plain knows what its all about from his heart, Soul and Fingers.. He can not be replaced.. Keep playin Johnny!!!!! "KEV"

  • Was this double lp ever made with a fourth side?

  • NO, There never was a Fourth Side to this Great album.

  • ..Yes, I had never seen a double record set,.... with just 3 sides recorded,.... and the opposite side ....completely blank.....I have this album records deluxe set....I'm proud to have it..!...

  • It was 1970 I was 18 I went over to my buddy Steves house to get high. We burned it down and then Steve said check out this new Johnny Winter album I just got. He put this track on first. Man I was fuckin floored!

  • Nothing would give me greater pleasuer than to piss on whoever disliked this' corn flakes. Even if you don't care for J.W., this is still a great tune no matter how it gets sliced. I mean, I don't go around and dislike every Justin Bieber vid just 'cause I don't care for that music.

  • First real rock and roller I saw close up at age 14 at the Boston Tea Party (first one), an old converted theater where we stood 20 feet from Johnny. For the next few days, everytime I closed my eyes, it was like i was back there, hearing the music and seeing him toss his head of white hair around.

  • Thank you .Thank you so much for making this available. This is IT !

  • best JW song!!

  • I met him playing at a bar called the nutcracker in Metairie La.,later that night we ran into him again scoring some heroin from the local dope house, walking up a long driveway with his hard soled boots knocking on the pavement loudly,50 years ago,now thats a lasting memory

  • Just like John Lee Hooker used to say: "serve me right to suffer, serve me right to be alone!"

  • This is what i had on the turn table when i got the Call that Mon had passed

  • This song and Hustled Down in Texas were my favorites on this album. I wore out that vinyl years ago.

  • Thanks h field07, looks like we share the same taste. Sure would love it if you have a few slide guitar recordings you could share. No one could or can play slide guitar like Johnny. Take Care Friend, and send more if you can. Huichol53........

  • winter and rory callagher are not so different, both good

  • Glad to still hear go old blues from Johnny.. Good string pickin!!!!!!!

  • Saw this guy back in the oldays back at the Bath rock festival just amazing still got second winter one fav albums. No plays like Winter.

  • damn...it must be nice to have talent...

  • This is my fav 3:44 at the age of 14

  • anyone have tab for this?

  • love johnny winter too

  • The most underrated great.

  • I only saw him once live, James Cotton blues band opened for him, then he sat in with Johnny's band. Circa 1973 or there abouts.

  • 14 or 16 riding a bike in texas

  • this is a very old song from john lee hooker

  • ...I was 12, first saw him with Amboy Dukes outside of Orlando, Florida in 69 or 70...WOW! Pioneer he was...and supported by incredible musicians...thanks.

  • thats the album that was 3 sided . first one i ever saw, maybe 69 or 70 bought and played till the cows came home . tommy shannon on bass mind you,,,

  • Saw Johnny and Edgar "live" in 1978. Have the original albulm, 3 sides of a 2 albulm set. Any collectors out there?

  • Saw him live at the Fillmore East in 1969 doing this song. it was fantastic! He played a silver Gibson Les Paul. Played with a trio which had a fourth player who showed up as a guest- Edgar Winter!

  • Damn...this is GOOOD Shit!!!

  • Fuckin' love this Jam!

  • super voice

  • White Nacho you're right, he is playing a SG.

  • This was his BIG contract album - two vinyl discs with one blank side. Believe it was recorded in Nashville - bought it new in 1968. JW was sensational, him and Hendrix were the baddest and most explosive performers ever. Saw him in Santa Monica 1971 or 72, Memphis 75 and Nashville 77. Loudest f*****g band in the world! He's in bad shape but still in pretty good tune now.

  • @EdVidz I stiil go to see him when he is in the area. Just hand him that guitar and he plays in his own unique way as he always has. Fascinating

  • This is my all time favorite JW track. Listen to those chops! I think he was playing a Gibson SG on this track. But it might be that Flying V he liked so much. Killer tone!

  • @WhiteNacho I thought he was playing a firebird during this time.

  • One of the finest LP covers ever made. I had it as an "Athena" poster on my wall back in 1970.

No album around today comes close to this one in anyway.

  • I thought Johnny was # 75 or such.

At least they got the first two right.

  • Is it just me, or is anyone else thinking about Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone?

  • @samdathi I'm sorry to say..it might be just you.

  • @samdathi ..oh , hang on..you mean, 'Zenith' the Albino Villain of Michael Moorcocks' novel. I think Johnny is meaner than him but you have a point.

  • Shit, i need another Schlitz after this song.

What a perfect blues song...damn it!!!!! Check out I'll go away, Alive and Well and Rain too. Go Johnny Guitar!!!

  • This shit's electrifying.

  • This is an excellent tune. First Winter LP I got in 1970. remember? It only had 3 sides of a double LP

  • yes ... how well i remember ... and he was at every fest ... white hair flying all over the stage ... maniac albino freak could rock you alllllllll night long ... and he did at west palm beach when the stones refused to play ... ahhhhhhhhhh

  • @marinersronbo Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember. I was a fifteen year old kid with a guitar in a garage band. As much as I longed for the day that I would be able to play like Johnny, this album made me realize that maybe I should consider another profession.

  • @SoberGeorge Yeah I was 'bout that age thinking the same ! Johnny Winter rocks like no other! Although I was able to play a just few of his licks sounding like him . But Nobody will be in his ranks Nobody!

  • @marinersronbo Still got my copy!

  • This man is the SHIT.

    Amazing, underrated, hugely talented.

  • I have the original 2 albulm set with one side blank. Probably one of the best blues/rock collections ever!!!

  • Good on you.

,,,owned that and maybe 3-400 more mint albums, jazz and blues, and original recordings for 40+ years that I was saving for my retirement and my personal history in the business.

......my X gave it all to the thrift.

  • Shit, you could make a blues song out of that. Did you kill her? I think it'd be justified.

  • I have the same album...I agree one of the best albums ever!!

  • He's a Beaut..saw him at the Guthrie...late 60's...Killer.

  • This song always get me going!! Love Johnny Winter! Legend.

  • thanks... i use to have this album this song was my favorite ...great guitar

  • unbelieveable johnny!

  • You should have seen him at Massey Hall in Toronto 1970 with opening act Luke and the Appostles.

    Crazzzzeeeeeeeeeee

  • Sublime

  • Has anyone ever found tab for this?

  • when you see rolling stone magazine put out the 100 greatest guitarist where is johnny on that list no where golmore was in the 90's lol sickens me

  • Rolling Stone list is a pile of shite not only is Johnny not listed neither is Rory Gallagher and if I actually looked again I've no doubt there are several other greats left out to cater to less talented metal/modern guys who don't deserve the adulation they get.

  • Even when it comes to metal they got it wrong, all the best are passed over, John Christ for instance, who is hugely influenced by blues, is ignored by magazines like rolling stone. I heard Billy Gibbons is not on their list either?

  • A gang of us from Downsview used to see Johnny at the Gardens every New Year's Eve for "Winterpop". He had guests like Sly & the Family Stone, and all knds of amazing people.

  • Always loved Johnny. Grew up rockin to his music.

  • yeah this is a johnny lee hooker song

  • Thanx man...this was next on my list! :)

  • Thanks for postin dude. One of my all time faves.

  • then there was i love everybody and i hate everybody also. they're great too

  • put on miss anne, that's the second song i think

  • Excellent song! Serious blues - Outstanding guitar player! If you could post up the song

"I'm Not Sure" 2nd song from this album I'd love it..... cool.................

  • yea supper rank rock

  • Dude - you rock!!

    Memory Pain!!!

Brings me back cause I don't know how old you are but this was my ...jeez how do I put it?...anyway, this song moves me. (38) Doesn't he move you too? Johnny melts me, and we were born on the same day, many years apart, but same day. I can't get my music up and here it all is on you tube! Johnny rules- thanks youtube person

  • Ya man, been listening to this tune now for 40years...and it still floors me!

  • this is a fav. love this song.

  • Absolute archaic version of this classic by the great Master of blues!
