When you loose the trust of the public, the cops are on their own as to doing anything. Years ago the public trusted the cops and they got tons of info about anybody they wanted by just asking. When there is a trust of the cops doing right, the public will pour tons of info on the cops. @turtle4aire since i didnt answer your question, its a number of things, not just the house. its the activity of the "homeowner" as well the houses unusually high consumption of both water and electricity. obviously a grow house isnt going to have its blinds open, ever. the "occupants" may come and go at odd hours and may have unusually deliveries of plant foods. the house may, on the outside, look like any other house, but the truth is, it isnt.
@turtle4aire people may notice unusual electrical wires or water hoses running around the building. if the people make their own energy (i.e. generator) they would have to have one hell of an ability to soundproof the noise; not to mention an ability to "smell-proof" the premises. the occupants would have to deny everyone the five senses to succeed. each of these alone may not be suspicious, but the totality of the circumstances is what leads these places to be reported by neighbors.

In Texas is around $35,000-$40,000 a year to house one inmate. Texas has around 174,000 inmates.....so you do the numbers. around 209 guards on most medium sec. prisons....each earning around $2700 a month depending upon how long they've worked for TDCJ-ID

When you loose the trust of the public, the cops are on their own as to doing anything. Years ago the public trusted the cops and they got tons of info about anybody they wanted by just asking. When there is a trust of the cops doing right, the public will pour tons of info on the cops. @turtle4aire since i didnt answer your question, its a number of things, not just the house. its the activity of the "homeowner" as well the houses unusually high consumption of both water and electricity. obviously a grow house isnt going to have its blinds open, ever. the "occupants" may come and go at odd hours and may have unusually deliveries of plant foods. the house may, on the outside, look like any other house, but the truth is, it isnt.

I believe there needs to be some changes made anytime a person can be giving a life sentence because he bought to many non prescription meds & lives to close to another person who just happens to be in trouble with the law. And a well known druggie who isn't & doesn't want to do their own time points a finger at this person who has kept his job, home. kept to hisself, is now going to serve the rest of his life n prison I say it's TIME TO TAKE A STAND.
