Wow! Just in time for the New Year! The English subtitles are especially appreciated since so much of the operetta calls for dialogue. In my not so humble opinion, all operas ought to have English subtitles since English has become the universal language of world culture.
@Edward245100 lol, with all due respect for the importance of the English language on all aspects of contempory life, one thing this language IS NOT, is 'language of world culture'., but again, it all depends on what one means by the term 'world culture'. In any case, I apologise for the word 'moron' and I replace it by the phrase 'arrogance'. Now, i can enjoy my peanuts along with a glass of scotch... lol
@bwana3208 Go to any country in the world. No matter how benighted, there will be someone about who will speak and understand English. You cannot say that about any other language. The language barrier is the one aspect of culture that most separates us. No other single barrier even comes close. Subtitles for operas in any language other than English is a waste on the world stage which is what YouTube is.
@Edward245100 English is an universally understanding language. Mandarin chinese is coming. Spanish is a very strong language too. So, worse than the waste on the world stage that means non-english subtitles, is no subtitles at all.
@psrusek Agree!
