would jesus shun anyone who had a diff opinion? no. he associated with sinners. Ive seen people openly berated for having a difference of opinion, to teachings..so rather than trying to understand WHY all they do is scream cafeteria catholics and 'you're not one of us'.

@Bhouncer Jesus makes it ABDUNDANTLY clear in the Gospels that if you are not with Him, you are against Him. He tells those who do not follow the moral codes of God they are going to be damned.

There ARE no other "valid" opinions on Church teaching but the teaching of the Church. Jesus associated with sinners ... and told them, in no uncertain terms, to shape up and stop sinning. Jesus NEVER said, not implied anything like, "Hey, whatever you want is okay with me!"

@Bhouncer WHY people reject teachings of the Church is obvious - ignorance or lack of love. Ignorance can be easily cured (and, if you check out out website, you'll see MASSES of resources to do just that). But lack of love is not so easy to cure. We try, but there comes a point when you shake the dust from your feet and move on, when you realize there are people who are just opposed to Christ's message yet still call themselves Christian and pick and choose - hence, "cafeteria Catholics".

#1 So the Church needs reform you say. Where have I heard that before *cough-martinluther-cough*.

#2 Obedience to the dogma of the Church founded by God himself in the flesh sounds pretty good to me.

#3 So is the Eucharist simply commentary too? Is the Papacy, the Blessed Virgin, the Saints, miracles, and the entrity of the Catholic Faith simply just commentary?

#4 Just a 2 minute look in the Catachism you will find no such hatred of homosexuals.

#6 Priestly celibacy is a discipline not a doctirine, therefore there are plently of exceptions.

#7 Notice Jesus himself only had male apostoles. Notice that throught Church history it was only males who held the position of priest. Obviously God intended it to be this way.

The Catholic Church does not teach hatred of homosexuals. It condemns their actions by having sex. The Catholic Church teaches that homosexuals should live chaste and pure life and avoid sinning. Homosexual acts is no different than fornication between a man and woman. The CC will never changed that.

Birth Control promotes fornication which the CC have always condemned.

The Church needs reform and is always reforming. The "reform" you speak of is nothing not true reform but revolt. Revolt against what Christ taight. The Church does not hate homosexuals but calls them, like it does all of of, to a truer, fuller and more satisfying understanding of sexuality. The fact that you claim the Church has an "unthinking" opposition to birth control shows you have never even read the papal letter on birth control, Humanae Vitae by Pope Paul VI.

Its is a wonderful and learned document that, althoug written in 1968, has proven almost phrophetic in its statement of bierht controls danger. What you claim are the "views of backwards conservatives" is actallu what the Church has always though and what Christians have always believed. I dislike myself so much.. because I am a cafeteria catholic, in the way that I dont go to mass or church all the time. I am trying to stop that though, and hopefully when I get older it will be easier for me to do this. We must obey are lord and not offend him any longer.

I disagree. Jesus only gives 2 commandments.

Now the vast majority of the Church's doctrines are extremely helpful. But if someoe disagrees with the church on certain aspects, but continues to work with the church they are the most valuable members of the church.

This video tells people to leave the church if they disagree to certain things, NO! We must work toghether, and if someone disagrees about say homosexuality, then that doesnt mean they should leave the church!

Of course it should - because they are spreading LIES that will send people to Hell!

Christianity is an all or nothing prospect - Jesus makes this very clear.

2 commandments indeed - "love God" being one of them. Jesus says that if we love Him we will keep His commandments; including no homosexuality, no abortion, no contraception!

As for if someone not believing in Jesus are they still apart of the church? Yes unless they leave it, should they for instance take communion? not until they can reconcil thier beliefs with the church through education and discussion.

Not at all - there are plenty of other verses in the Bible which give additional commandments. To LOVE God means to OBEY Him. If you disobey His commands, you do not love Him.

The Catholic Church is perfect. Her teachings are without error. Slandering someone or something perfect is not love.
