  • I heard that this he UNRELEASED song by led zeppelin called fire

  • Who is the drummer? Love his snare sound.

  • @ANGELSVEN Chris Slade

  • FUkking gods..I saw this tour in Oakland !

  • i really like this a lot.

  • Pure magic. Oh hindsight and memories.

This I know cant happen again but it would be good to see someone put together something similar.

  • Pure Crap!

  • I saw these guys at The Spectrum in the spring of '85 and again in '86 (senior year of high school)... puked after multiple illegal beers at the vendor and a joint. A guy was pooring beer on my head behind me for puking in front of his girlfriend as Jimmy was performing a solo with his bow and guitar...... what a night... ha ha!!!

  • saw them in NYC @MSG April 1985 ! Page playing Fenders....wearing a scarf smokin` a cig too cool ....

  • I saw this your in the summer of 85, it trully was the best of both bands!

  • Does anybody know the song they play as an intro before the band opens with "Closer"? It sounds like a classical piece but I don't know what it is.

    Thanks!

  • @blampied

    holst's "the planets."

  • @pungeon Thank You!!

  • If I was his age range and in London i would have been his g/f!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ER UM IF I HAD BEEN IN London :) Get me anywhere near that man!!!!!!!!!!!!! xoxo

  • If I was his age range and in London i would have been his g/f!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ER UM IF I HAD BEEN IN London :) Get me anywhere near that man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If I was his age range and in London i would have been his g/f!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ER UM IF I HAD BEEN IN London :)

  • great tune franklin and slade kick it nice playing with gods

  • I haven't heard this tune in so long. I forgot how cool the drums are, Slade's playing on this was a big influence on me back then, when I was learning to play.

It's a very "inside" groove. Awesome.

  • ONE OF THEIR BEST...IMO.

  • This album was among my very first cd's back in '85 -- extreme AWESOME!!!

  • Holy shit! Does JP even need oxygen.. Just look at him, that cigarette doesn't go anywhere!

  • Music at 2:30 is it Mussorgski. I think it is.

  • Comment removed

  • @polyorchids..

    You're right it's Holst. Jupiter I think...

  • THE 80'S killed all good music....

  • you are wrong.

    queen was awesome at 80's

  • @TheCheepnis

Queen - all that glittered was not gold.

  • haha another victim of the 80's...

  • I'm upset they took down the "Midnight Moonlight" video. That was their master work for sure. What a great tune from an underrated band.

  • @filramil Very true.

  • The fret less bass was the backbone sound for this band.. Jimmy used his stratocaster for many songs during this tour,

  • @ZoSoRecords

ok girls like me have no idea what the f--ck that means...

how bout this....they rocked in the 80's man!

  • @ZoSoRecords Its a Telecaster

  • @stevenrthr100 Yeah.. that's right!! I knew caster was in there somewhere LoL

  • @ZoSoRecords He used a blue Strat with The Firm also.

  • @stevenrthr100

see the double cutaway, It is a Strat.

  • @francescaemc2 Wrong . Tele.

  • @francescaemc2

    yes, you are right!

  • Page had a weird guitar tone with The Firm. It sounded like he had every stompbox turned on at once - just like this footage. I always thought his playing with this band was substandard, but I still loved the band and their music.

  • That sound is the Boss CE-2 Chrous pedal and everybody used them in the '80s...It works here for me because I love Jimmy and he can do no wrong where tone is concerned, but indeed the Boss Chorus sucks the life out of everyone-it is boxy in an anachronistic '80s way...Although Jimmy still sounds fuckin' greta to me:)

  • Jimmy Page is a dynamo of energy, whose creativity and musical variations of the Legendary Zeppelin signature continues, uncompromised!

  • it rocks and allways will

  • What voice Paul Rodgers......

  • I got the opportunity to see the Firm on their first US tour.

On the Floor 11 roles back from the stage.

It Was magical to say the least.

Some were disappointed that they didn't do any Zeppelin or Bad Co songs,

but i was happy that they didn't myself.

They did do a number or two from the "Death wish"2 sdk which was a bonus

and Overall they Rocked our Balls Off!!!

Jimmy Page Will Always be a Legend in the R&R world.

  • Murdocks6107, ditto, I saw them in 1985 I think it was, and Jason Bonham on drums, it was truly amazing to be there! Some one else I think played bass, are you aware of anyone else playing bass in that tour?

He did the first bass solo I ever hear in a live concert, it was mesmerizing!

  • Hey rpowarz,

When I seen the Firm it was with the bassist that was on the albums. (had long Spiked hair)

And i think He did do a bass solo

(although I was pretty buzzed ..but Not wasted to where i don't remember some details of the show...lol) I Don'r know If there was another bass player besides the original member.

Chris Slade was the drummer & he had a kick ass solo also.

And as i mentioned, they didn't do any Zep,

but Jimmy did do a mix of familiar Riffs in His little solo.

  • he did do a bass solo back around 85-86 and it was puple haze by jimi hendrix

  • The bassist's name is Tony Franklin. He's one bad-ass dude. Maybe the best fretless player since Jaco Pastorius.

  • @Kkrouton Don't forget Percy Jones, my friend.

  • screw Clapton Jimmy Page is god!

  • Jimmy Page's voice makes me melt.

  • Me too, and I'm a guy.

  • me too. The Rainbow was a blast afterwards too! Thanks Mario!

  • yeap i witness 4 of the firms show. again paul rodgers with the all mighty jimmy page this time

  • amazing .... hanx alot! great video...

  • I was lucky to see their live debut in Stockholm 1984. I remember Jimmy played a bit weird sometimes and I think he was doing cocaine those days. The saliva was dripping from his mouth during the show.

  • Jimmy's a drooler for sure. Wasn't the cocaine. It's from the dentures. Really. LOL. Jimmy had some bad teeth back in the day.

  • Jimmy had dentures?

  • Folks, the correct date of this show is Dec. 09 1984

  • Thanks for that... I saw them in the US in March of 1985, so i was'nt sure if this was in late 84' or early 85' ?

  • You're welcome. I'm a bit of a collector of Zeppelin related stuff. I have this whole show and could try to figure out the compression and uploading if anyone is interested. And, yes, they did play Cadillac at this show and throughout the N.American tour.

  • Hi I would be really interested in hearing that!

    Cheers

    Graham

  • LOL I forgot about this. I'll see what I can do.

  • Ok-Cheers!

  • ALWAYS LOVED PAUL RODGERS VOICE!

  • the bass player looks too shy shy, hush hush, eye 2 eye!

  • I hate Pagey's tone. Too 80s for me.

  • My gosh they look like babies, they were so young, weren't we all?LOL!They still look great today ,but this was a shock!!! Thanks for posting,Love em soo much!

  • This is The Best Firm Song!

  • Chris Slade rocks!!!

  • is in background b4..

  • The name of that show is "Ten Years On For Badgeholders"

    Here is the set list:

    (...the usual songs)

    Over The Top

    Guitar Solo

    Achilles Last Stand

    Stairway To Heaven

    Whole Lotta Love

    Rock and Roll

    Maybe "Over the Top"?

  • This is def a cool 80's jam! Tony Franklin is a VERY under rated bassist! :)

  • I saw their second ever concert in Lund, Sweden in 1984 on this tour and Page was out of it...

  • This show was recored at the Hammersmith Odeon I believe. I wish I had seen the Firm back in the Eighties. They were original to say the least!!!

  • Thanks to whomever posted this! I taped this whole concert back in the 80's. A so-called friend of mine kept my copy but it's good to see this again!!!

  • I saw LZ at the L.A. Forum (The Lakers old home)in 1977 & they did this song but nobody remembers or believes me! I wish someone out there who was also at the show 6/22/77 would respond and let me know their thoughts and recollections. It kicked ass! I even remember Robert Plant intoducing the song as "something new"!

    Please comment!

  • You sure it was'nt walters walk?? those two songs sound simuliar, but i believe you, anything is possible.. anyone else have any knowledge post it please!

  • I remember the lyrics containing the phrase "flames are getting higher & higher" so I believe it's the song "Closer" but maybe with a different title. I was not high because at this particular moment in my life I wasn't getting high. Could be something different, but I'm famous for having a great long term memory! This show still stands out in my mind as being in my top 2 concerts I witnessed personally along w/Pink Floyd's the wall in '79 at the L.A. Sports Arena, & Jeff Beck at the Greek in 80

  • i wish there was a way to hear everyo audio they ever done, cause it was aalways different.. thanks for sharing.. hope we get more feed back, i would love to hear Plant singing this

  • @ZoSoRecords Most if not all of the LA Forum 77 shows were recorded, and none have this tune on them. If you look up led zep bootlegs, you can see the setlists.

  • I'm sorry to say, but Zepp never did it. I have one of the biggest collections of Zepp on audio & video in North America, including all the Forum gigs in 1977 ---and all complete concerts and they never did it. Same as Walters Walk--never did it live. If you have any other questions on other songs, let me know ---or wait for my books coming soon. That 6/22/77 show was one of the best tho of the '77 tour --you're lucky.

  • If I'm incorrect I apologise, but I remember that guitar riff like it was yesterday! I remember the lyrics containing the same as what The Firm put down. I know it's a stretch, but is it possible this one got overlooked?

  • The name of that show is "Ten Years On For Badgeholders"

    Here is the set list:

    (...the usual songs)

    Over The Top

    Guitar Solo

    Achilles Last Stand

    Stairway To Heaven

    Whole Lotta Love

    Rock and Roll

    Maybe "Over the Top"?

  • @igluver15 what the hell are talking about

  • @The090968 it was the song "itll be me" that they played in the forum but he has forgtten this and thinks they played closer

  • yo could you possibly put cadillac up from this show? i think they did that at this show

  • Cadillac was the mean business tour... i have no live footage of that tour.

  • ah damn, alright i could have sworn i read somewhere that the setlist included cadillac, thanks anyway man

  • 'cadillac' was done at this show, yes - it's on audio boots (the FM broadcast) and perhaps the MTV promo video culled from this gig. though it did not get a studio release until 'mean business', it was played live on the first firm tour.

  • i love when they come out on stage. that first riff from page makes my heart skip a beat. love the firm.

  • Jimmy is so calm... with a whiskey on the rocks in his hand :)

  • I really dug this band, made a point of stealing (kidding) both LPs as soon as they came out. Kinda odd the band didn't last longer.

  • ... nice suit!

  • hello sparkle. jimmy looks so cute here. hello zoso.

  • here he comes the formal led zep axe man himself jimmy page. here those people when page comes out? magic. cool riffs too.

  • Rock'n persons, The Firm. IN my library vinyl. Only wish I could see more vids of them.

  • cool tune-i saw the prototype firm live in nyc in 1983 , with jeff beck and eric clapton also on the bill-best show i think i have ever seen-ron wood was also on that bill...running probs with this vid on my computer tho

  • sweet

  • What a high school graduation present, a ticket to see the Firm live at Purdue's Elliot Hall of Music in 1985. Even though I was stoned out of my mind, I can still remeber Pages' guitar solo's and the awesome light show's that accompanied them. They rocked the house and did 3 or 4 encore's. This was one of the best concert's I've been to.

  • Jimmy is NOT banged up here...... and looks as healthy as I have ever seen him. His playing proves it. He is on point.

I never saw the Firm live....... They sound good to me,

The ARMS show I saw..... jimmy was on another planet.

With Zep live..... he never sounded bad.

  • I was not trippin' but i was stoned and on cola... saw them in Omaha March 1985 page ran in a cirlcle like angus young and jammed, then the green dome came down and violin bow lit up... great concert, they did two encores that night, and Jimmy could of did more, but Paul shook his head to cut it off.. great times

  • the firm show was cool. jimmy did the guitar bow under the green laser triangle for his solo! the firm never really caught on but i love them.

  • Yes,I was trippin' when I seen him do that in Detroit '85.One of the best concerts I ever seen.Tony Franklin played Purple Haze on his bass solo.Member?

  • funny, so was i, lol

  • guys

dazed and confused was gonna be a yardbirds song

    what dose it matter hell

THE FIRM is perhaps the most under appreciated band in history

  • I believe there was some controversy as to who actually wrote the song dazed and confused over beck and page. There's a song jeff beck wrote called I'm confused which is basically the same song.

  • No, the song that is being disputed between Beck and Page is called "Beck's Bolero" not Dazed and Confused. Jake Holmes wrote "Dazed and Confused". "I'm Confused" is a rearrangement of Holmes's "Dazed and Confused" which was later credited and The Yardbirds.

  • man is jimmy page god when he walks out on to the stage? damn..

  • Closer was originally going to be a Led Zeppeling song. I heard the riff on a bootleg studio jam.

  • Can you hear that bootleg on internet?

  • I dont know, I never bother looking but I have it somewhere in my collection.

  • Page is always better then everyone else. Meaning his worst performance is still better than anything else. Peace.

  • At Last! A good Page performance...!

  • it would be great if The Firm's official cds and videos are assembled in one remastered package. Even the weakest songs from Page deserve more attention and are cooler than a lot of today's music.

  • I hear ya. Even at the time the music was like updated but not spastic. The unfortunate thing was, and I still think is, neither Firm albums did well, though the shows were sellouts. There was some footage MTV had of a show that awesome.

  • this is it LOL

  • yes, page rules. seen both firm tours in US. great shows. I love this video.

  • man i get goosebumps watching Jimmy walk out on set... so calm, so cool...brings back memories!!

  • That was great, awesome, didn't suck...etc..thx.. ;)

  • They ought to reissue the two albums together with a bonus DVD...

  • now thats a great idea!

  • Yeah, they could put the live footage and "Five from The Firm" on the DVD, and things like the Radioactive 12" as bonus tracks on the albums.

  • Thank you...thank you...thank you. I'm one of Jimmy Page's biggest fans.

  • awesome!

  • Thank you for posting this. Much appreciated.

  • blues... I saw this same tour 4 months later.. March of 1985..
