Some time has passed & we now know that Peter's fear of GM leased car values plummeting was handled by just having the 'clunkers' destroyed. So rather than having an environmental purpose, the Clunker scam is designed to boost GM sales while also helping GM on the value of their leased fleet. It also cuts out Ford partially by setting a wt limit that includes GM trucks but excludes a LOT of Ford trucks and vans, thereby proving this has NOTHING to do with saving gas, environment, etc.

I don't think they don't know what they're doing I think they know exactly what they're doing but they see no alternatives. It takes years to reshape society and standards and if you try to change rules midgame you'll end up with social unrest or anomie as Robert Merton would call it. It's not about economics any more but about survival.

the magnitude is far too big, the entire fiat currency money system has crashed and governments are doing everything wrong to prevent the self-correction mechanisms of free markets from functioning, it can only get worse while they do this as it did after dot.-com crash as capital was misallocated in the following boom

What if the Chinese think the U.S. is "too big to fail" and if they do they`ll default on payments. What if the same keynesians in power nor remain in power lurching from one crisis to another. It`s been over 70 years and they`re still there. What if the only solution is a military coup to end the economic terrorism being wrought on the U.S. What if there aren`t any generals brave enough to return the U.S. to a Constitutional Republic after a brie military coup with those ends.
