xP this is the best version of clousseau since sellers. I mean they are almost exactly alike, though sellers accent i think was a little more natural and trained. did geoffrey rush win something for the life and death of peter sellers? he should have, I mean his interpretation was so good and the call scene form Dr Strangelove was exactly the same! at least the part that was the same :P

I just want to make it clear: the above clip is NOT from a remake of the Pink Panther, but from a film on Peter Sellers (The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers).. the movie is amazing. And Geoffrey's performance is simply breathtaking. Thanks for the upload, anyway. I can't help laughing out loud at this scene. The accent is hilarious.

I agree that Steve Martin's remakes are uncalled for, and that Geoffrey Rush is a great actor, but quite frankly I don't think that Geoffrey Rush's Clouseau is "pure genius". It's not supposed to be, anyway. He's playing Peter Sellers, emphasizing drama and giving an illusion of comic genius. Clouseau died with Peter Sellers. "A Shot in the Dark" was the last "pure genius" Clouseau performance.

This isn't entirely accurate. When Peter first created Clouseau, he didn't add the exaggerated accent until Return of the Pink Panther. But other than that, I think Geoffrey Rush should have played Clouseau in the new films instead of Steve Martin.
