this may sound like a sacrilege since Clapton's one of the greats, but i think i almost prefer Mayer's mid-song solo to Clapton's here. I think what adds to this is cause Mayer played his in a higher register than Clapton did, and that helped his notes stand out more from the chords. Both were cool tho.
Yes I like them too. There both very good but Mayer .. just a personal thing but it's a very femmy voice, something weird about him in general. Other then he digs EC im not much of a fan of his. His last CD was pretty hot imo.
Well, Mayer was even brought to perform Crossroads with the legendary slow hand master in NY not long ago. Now that was a kick ass performance. Mayer's husky voice lends itself as a good compliment to his guitar playing.
Clapton is a legend. Of course he is getting old and his voice isn't as great as it used to be, but he still has it in him, and his voice and guitar with john mayers guitar= great
john mayer as eric....wonderful solo

What a gorgeous song! I saw Clapton here in Melbourne in February. I'd like to see Mayer one day too.

Im serious lol, I can't stand his voice, mayers music is great but his voice just makes me cringe.

Well, it's how one takes it.
For example, not many people like Prince's voice or even Billy Corgan (smashin' pumpkins)

I think that Clapton's voice is just getting better with age, he's a lot more confident than he used to be
