What a great video on tying a sedge emerger. I have a sedge emerger of my own and it is a great taker of fish on both river and lough. Send me your address and I will send you a sample and the tying details. All the best for the moment and keep up the great work with the terrific videos.
I know I should at times mention fishing methods with certain flies, much like the pattern above which I use both on rivers and lochs from size 16s up..I mostly film myself when I get a spare hour or so which is very rare so I tend to rush more than I would like...

Phil Taylor and Darts...Stephen Hendry and Snooker...Davie McPhail and FlyTying----each has contemporaries but I have witnessed no equal.
Davie I think the time has come to grace the world with "Davie McPhail's Variants".A book for the eye of artistry and the sense of a fish's desire.(Color Plates included).A price, worthy of kingdom.
You Sir are a MASTER and I am privledged to live in this era to witness your skills.
Davie, Great version of this deadly pattern. Could i also get the link for the sparton wrap. I tried there site but its not much for making orders. I am in the states.
Awesome fly pattern, I really like the divided hair wing.
I am going to experiment with using CDC for the upper thorax and legs, should add bit more movement to the legs, and bit more buoyancy to the over all fly.
First of all, I'd like to thank these great videos of yours. They've been very helpfull when learning fly tying. I'd like to ask should this fly float or how do you fish on these.
I have added dubbing or just used the colour of the thread to give the impression of an egg sack but I would normally use the same colour of the emerger wing to the egg laying caddis, but if you feel there's a difference then just change it to suit..I would experiment with this style as it's one of the best...
I have no idea why the torch can't be sent across to you I'll try and find out, but if you can buy the pro version as it's way better than the cheaper one...ATB Davie
Davie another top fly pal and expertly demonstrated. I have been trying to put a link of your channel onto mine but can't see how to do it, any pointers?
Sweet pattern, Davie. I'll tie some of these to take to Montana. The Missouri River has epic caddis hatches in the summer. Why don't you come to Craig (Trout Town, USA) after the runoff for some brown drakes, yellow sallies, caddis and tricos on a spectacular tailwater with rainbows and big browns. Early July is the sweet spot.
I would love to come over and fish in Montana someday or any part of your wonderful country, please let me know how you get on and I wish you lots of luck when you go...

Thank you, Davie.
Do you add an egg sack and/or use lighter color deer hair when tying pattern to represent egg laying caddis, or spent caddis?
Best,
John
