  • Hi Davie,

What a great video on tying a sedge emerger. I have a sedge emerger of my own and it is a great taker of fish on both river and lough. Send me your address and I will send you a sample and the tying details. All the best for the moment and keep up the great work with the terrific videos.

    Peter Dunne, Ireland.

  • hello davie any chane of putting a few comments with your flies like when and how to fish them please

  • Hi lewisluft,

I know I should at times mention fishing methods with certain flies, much like the pattern above which I use both on rivers and lochs from size 16s up..I mostly film myself when I get a spare hour or so which is very rare so I tend to rush more than I would like...

  • Davie, new ideas I haven't used. Thanks!

  • Phil Taylor and Darts...Stephen Hendry and Snooker...Davie McPhail and FlyTying----each has contemporaries but I have witnessed no equal.

Davie I think the time has come to grace the world with "Davie McPhail's Variants".A book for the eye of artistry and the sense of a fish's desire.(Color Plates included).A price, worthy of kingdom.

You Sir are a MASTER and I am privledged to live in this era to witness your skills.

I Thank-you for that from deep in my soul.

    Your Friend Tony George

  • Hi Tony,

I'm blown away with all your kind words which I thank you very much for they do mean a Huge amount to me...Thankyou and all the very best to you...

    Davie...

  • Davie, Great version of this deadly pattern. Could i also get the link for the sparton wrap. I tried there site but its not much for making orders. I am in the states.

    Thank you

    Johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

I have sent you the link to the Clear Wrap and thanks for the kind words....ATB Davie

  • Awesome fly pattern, I really like the divided hair wing.

I am going to experiment with using CDC for the upper thorax and legs, should add bit more movement to the legs, and bit more buoyancy to the over all fly.

    Thanks Davie!

  • Hi Davie, I have been trying to source the nymph wrap can you point me in the right direction please?

  • Hi simmo0498,

I sent you the link to the Clear Wrap fron Sparton...ATB Davie

  • Is this for the rivers or the ressies/loch, another crackign fly and a bit different

  • Hi TheBoobyBasher,

Both river and lochs it's a good all round pattern....ATB Davie

  • Thank you, Davie.

Do you add an egg sack and/or use lighter color deer hair when tying pattern to represent egg laying caddis, or spent caddis?

    Best,

    John

  • Hi John,

I have added dubbing or just used the colour of the thread to give the impression of an egg sack but I would normally use the same colour of the emerger wing to the egg laying caddis, but if you feel there's a difference then just change it to suit..I would experiment with this style as it's one of the best...

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie,

that's a wee beast of a fly! Very nice and well done.

    Many thanks for that. ;)

  • Excellent as always, Davie, thanks

  • Simplesmente fabuloso, parabéns e obrigado.

  • Any idea why the pro torch is not being allowed imported to us ? The original is some-what scarce also.

  • Hi finestfisher,

I have no idea why the torch can't be sent across to you I'll try and find out, but if you can buy the pro version as it's way better than the cheaper one...ATB Davie

  • Exceptional. Thanks for sharing Sir.

  • THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO OF A GREAT FLY

    leonardh1956

  • great fly cant wait to add it to my box

  • awesome fly. Thanks for posting.

  • Davie another top fly pal and expertly demonstrated. I have been trying to put a link of your channel onto mine but can't see how to do it, any pointers?

  • Davie, nou never stop to amaze me, you're simply the best at what you do!

    Another great video, thank you!

  • Sweet pattern, Davie. I'll tie some of these to take to Montana. The Missouri River has epic caddis hatches in the summer. Why don't you come to Craig (Trout Town, USA) after the runoff for some brown drakes, yellow sallies, caddis and tricos on a spectacular tailwater with rainbows and big browns. Early July is the sweet spot.

  • Hi BertBrehm,

I would love to come over and fish in Montana someday or any part of your wonderful country, please let me know how you get on and I wish you lots of luck when you go...

    All the best Davie

  • Nice job as always!!! Have a good weekend!

  • Hi Davie!

Will this pattern work on grayling?

im going to make me a album of all the flies i've been tying and working on grayling

    ATB Difrent44

  • Hi difrent44,

Yes it does work well for grayling and the sizes worth having are 16s to 10s...ATB Davie
