My Uncle was a Vietnam war vet and he told me about the unreliability of the m16. When his m16 jammed during a firefight, he had to pick up an ak from a dead VC soldier and it saved his life. Afterwards, he kept that gun as a trophy and he declined using the m16 and got his m14 back.
@pilipinoyboy I have never heard of soldiers having the option of getting their M14 back but anything can happen especially back in Vietnam. My father said he liked his M14 also when he was in Vietnam and he was pissed when they took it away. He didnt have a choice lol.
Which rifle would you want if you were just shot in the left hand & had to remove an empty magazine, put a loaded magazine in, put a fresh round in the chamber & shoot at an advancing enemy? Also, I can get on target MUCH faster with an AR than an AK, the peep sights on an AR make very quick to aim. I guess it even goes even quicker with glass. The proof of the shooting was seen on the streets of Fallujah with the amounts of men killed with gunshot wounds to the head fired from great range.
I really not understand why US guys still making comparizon with AK-47 that not used in Russia from ........1959! This model was replased to AKM and at 1974 AKM was replased to 5.45x39 AK-74. So AK was leaved more then 50 tears ago, AKM not used more 30 years. Its comparizon become old 50 yers ago.
@NicoandLuis of course a slow moving heavy bullet will knock over a "target" I can push over a target too doesn't mean it's more effective ten a 5.56 bullet going 2700+ fps your an idiot sir...what kind of "test" did you do? The bi metal 7.62x39 terminal ballistics against soft targets is far inferior to modern 5.56 ammo...look up dr Fackler. What do you base your bullshit on? FED spec gel the 5.56 at range is a better round.
@KNOWSCORE its clear you dont know much about the ar design. maybe you listen too much to the old stories of when they they didnt have chrome lined chambers and used dirty powder. sorry but the ar's they make now are far better than the ak. look here
@MrSrgj i was in iraq and ieven i had an ak but it wasnt because the m16 was junk, it was because we could. it was something different. jamming? the reason that rifle jams is because they over oil the rifle. too much oil in an m16 is a bad thing when in the desert. i ran mine almost dry and had zero jams. infact, i had more jams in my 2 aks than my 2 ar's
How much money is earning the American soldiers? I bet with a friend and I want to win an argument. On the Internet I can find information about it, but I don't trust bloggers and news media, so I ask you.
@MrSrgj no i was in the marines but they make the same amount. how much you make all depends on your rank. a private makes less than all other ranks. you need to be more specific. look at a military pay scale, that would answer your questions...
@NicoandLuis too small? too small for what? I'd like to see you stand in front of an M16 and test this theory out? anything traveling at 2100 feet per second has more than enough power to kill at close range (in a building) out to 200 yards which is where many gun fights end up. Now I do agree that in places like Afghanistan where they are fighting from hilltop to hilltop in the mountains then yes a heavier more powerful bullet is better such as the 7.62 NATO.
@mixflip I tested it. I shot from about 10 meters with some single shots and the target didn´t fall. But with the AK it fell with the first shot. Even a vid on YT exists about this.
Ill take my AR over any gun. Especially my LMT MWS 308. AR is the best platform, extremely reliable. and when loaded with a 308 it cant be beat. It is great at CQB and will reach someone at 1000yds no problem. Plus try finding some decent ammo for an AK lol Ill stick with my 556 and 308.
@231johnjohnson how so? The 5.56 depends on velocity to do massive damage at longer ranges and performs much beter then th 7.62 soviet at closer ranges within its fraging threshold....what do you base your comment on? Yes the 5.56 has more "range" but it performs much much beter within 2300+ or 2700+ depending on the rd used and much much beter ten the 7.62x39 at those velocities.
Try using either rifle with only 1 hand simulating a battlefield injury then tell me how great each is. I guess you have to have access to both rifles to do that but I have a good idea which rifle will be possible to use 1-handed & which rifle will be unusable. Also, if you think a little sand & water will jam an M16 watch VigilantSpectre's channel M4 Torture Test & Daniel Defense M4 Torture Test video on youtube & you'll get an idea how good the AR can be in the hands of the right person.
Stop praising one or the other! Here's the pros and cons: M16/AR-15 Pros: Bullet travels at a high velocity and tumbles once it hits an object resulting in more damage, Lightweight, Accurate, Semi-reliable. Cons: More difficult to clean, More Complicated, AK-47 Pros: Large bullet, Very Reliable, Simple, Cheap Cons: Inaccurate, Heavy. Equal: Melee/Close Quarters (At least with wood stock variants of the M16), Versatility
Only the stupid can think that М16 better than АК. АК obviously surpasses М16. АК it is constantly modernized. In Russia, there is much that. Here for example:
АК competes only with АЕК-971 and AN-94. М16 and all from the NATO shit.
The idea that the AR's synthetic stock is less durable than wood is absolutely wrong. The AR's furniture is lighter than solid wood furniture for sure but if you look around on u-2b you can find vids of M4s+ARs taking abuse that would turn a typical AK's wood stock into toothpicks and matchsticks.
AK47= inexpensive & foolproof. AR15 is not inexpensive & foolproof but it is lightweight, accurate, fast handling + adaptable, meaning you can simply change out the upper receiver etc. & change significant things about the rifle e.g. barrel length, caliber, sight options and combining it with other weapons like a 203 grenade launcher or shotgun. The AR is also more reliable than many people think & can be made extremely reliable by a competent armorer with the right parts.
And why dont you compare AK74 with M16? because AK74 has a deadlier bullet, its the most controllable fully automatic rifle in the world, and has the same accuracy as M16 variant. AK47 system has been removed from most modern armies and they use AK74 variant which is essentially AK47 with a smaller round.
AHHAHAHA americans evaluating AK47.... please i was expecting it to break down and blow up.... not one hitting the death zone? well this fucktard needs to learn to shoot for starters. AK47 has been established as the best asssault rifle of all time end of story. You can try to discredit it but eventually you will look like a fucking idiot like these guys.
You know if you watch Larry Vickers' "M4 Torture Test" available on youtube, you can see how full of shit some of these "experts" are. Also, VigilantSpectre's M4 Torture Test paints a much different picture of the AR. Mike Pannone tested M4s by not cleaning them after firing thousands of rounds through them. Result: as long as the M4 was lubed it works, of course you also must have a functional magazine & decent ammo.
@HunterKiller308 You dont have to pray with AK47 buddy... the one doing the praying is on the recieving end. This has been established countless times. As for "marskman" rifle i would go for a dragunov and rape you at 1.6km easily. Or for M14 in case of american side. M16 is garbage.
Some Internet commando with good google skills is not going to have experience or great knowledge of the weapon as a person who runs carbine classes, maintains there weapon or been in the military and even then some of them don't know shit about weapons but have way more knowledge then said Wikipedia commando 15 year old Cod fanboy.
@MrDip02 that's moronic sir. No you run it hard...learn it's limitations, field strip it, replace worn parts, learn how it functions you idiot. Ya my friend who fires 60 rounds out I my arsenal ak still doesn't know shit about it, I get that but he is not claiming what the best fucking gun around is either. Actually using gun tactically, maintaining them, breaking them down makes you learn about the gun fuckstick!
cheap, durable and reliable!!! and lets face it in a shootout scenario you don't have all day to pick your shots.... Ak47 finds the target unlike m16 where you guide it to the target..... Ak47 all the way!
Watch M4 Torture Test on vigilantspectre's channel & M4 torture test with Larry Vickers, then tell me how unreliable it is. It is unreliable in the hands of an incompetent. Tell me how good is the power of the an AK47 at 200 yards/ 195 meters when it can't a man-sized target. An AK74 could hit it at 195meters but the AK74 doesn't have the AK47's power & phenomenal reliability. Also the ease of fire-select, bolt catch+bolt release & mag release are overlooked by those w/ no real world experience
@oeyesea Everything you're saying is almost completely incorrect. I have shot an AK to 200 yards and can hit a man sized target. I have the video up on youtube. Where did you read the AK-74 is less reliable then the AK-47?
@MossNeckMayer1 you obviously never even used any of them unless it was a bargain bin AR15 and those are crap. Mine has gone through thousands of round with no hiccup. I had one old abused magazine that was a problem that's it. You are just regurgitating crap 3rd hand Internet myths made by other inexperienced retards who think they are weapons experts without handing any weapon.
@MossNeckMayor1 you have no experiance with the AR at all. you dont even have to keep it clean, just keep it lubed and replace parts as they go through their life cycle and the AR is an extremely reliable weapon with many major advantages over the AK. keep your ignorance to yourself.
@elox02 you don't need to handle a fucking a gun to understand it to know about it fuck just because you handle a firearm doe snot mean once you touch the gun it shits out every inch of facts into your head
"The reality is that a basic soldier with iron sights can't shoot that far when you're shooting at an opponent that knows he's being shot at and he's trying to do everything to not get shot"
I do not understand the ridiculous and stubborn American pride. Nobody says that the M16 is bad, in fact is ok and is a very good gun, but what all the whole world repeat is that the AK47 is much better. It is so hard to accept? hahahah xD
The AK-47 is the best gun when it comes to battlefields. The AK-47 is more famous than the M16, it is both an international symbol of revolution and oppression. The AK-47 is cheap to manufacture, really reliable, and easy to maintain. The AK-47 and the M16 went head to head in the Vietnam war, and the winning side's weapon was the AK-47. Bottom line, the AK-47 is the greatest and most famous weapon ever invented. In the Middle East It is the US's Boogeyman.
@Lexman00 I love the Ak47 and I plan on buying a Yugo M70 soon but I have to disagree with the whole AK is better because Vietnam won. The AK didnt win the war. Politics restricted America from fighting the war to "win". We couldnt cross into Cambodia but the VC did, we couldnt use the atomic bombs that beat Japan, and the ammo initially shipped with the wrong kind of gun powder for the jungle environment and troops were lied to by saying the M16 was self cleaning. No cleaning needed
@mixflip Why limit the lithmus test to Viet Nam? Iraq used Soviet weapons for Desert Storm & the 2nd Gulf War, also consider how many actual battles were won by the communists in Nam. USMC killed their opposition in Fallujah with headshots while their enemy wasn't able to hit much at all. I have noticed veterans I know for a fact used M16s have a certain attitude about it while the ones with questionable veteran status have a different attitude about it.Using ARs at work 18yrs won me over fromAK
@Lexman00 You do realize I didn't refer to politics when I mention the VietCon's weapon of choice won against M16, right? Your video mentioned my point itself, the AK-47 won with it's simplicity and reliability. As for the politics, well, it's obvious that the US would never have won anyway. The war would have continued the same way it has in the Middle East. Guerilla Warfare is almost unbeatable. As for Atomic bombs, only psychopaths and cowards use Nuclear weapons against people.
@Lexman00 Well AK47 did alot to win the war, but war was unwinable from the starters as US did not have clear objectives, and standard warfare doctrine "grab and keep teritory" until enemy runs out of it does not apply in jungle. Another think AK47 proved superior to M16 in vietnam and this was the ultimate moral killer for US troops. I wont mention the amount of failure of M16 on field which caused many american deaths. AK47 is ultimate assault rifle.
@Lexman00 your a fucking idiot who hasn't held or shot either. Shut the fuck up you clueless fucking idiot I own several variants of both. Christ such a strong opinion from someone with absolutely no experience....fucking tool
@kolinmartz you go by rumors you hear and not personal experience or research right? The ak-47 is by no means inaccurate. It is accurate out to 300m, which most firefights dont go past 100m. Please do actual research. The ak47 fufills the required range to be considered an assault rifle so you cant call it inaccurate.
This is dezinformation. I served in the army using AK-47. I gruped my (30 bulit magasine) shots at 100 meters with in 50 cm circle on the target. By the way, it was old and used AK from the front line in Bosnia, not a new unused one!
@mixflip АК-47(Автомат калашникова) - автомат, так как изобретен в СССР, так его называют в России. В других странах его могут называть штурмовой винтовкой, но это одно и то же.
the 5.56 may not have the kinetic energy but it sure the hell turns ones inside into juice and the 7.62 may be slow but its gonna knock you down, the 5.56 is small but fast and the 7.62 is large and slow they both will have the same force because force =mass x acceleration so a slow object with a large amount of mass and a fast object with a small amount of mass will both have the same force when it hits an object basic science
they are like puzzle pieces the ak is reliable but in accurate and the m16 is not as reliable but accurate they complement each other if one fails in one category but succeeds in another the other succeeds on that category but fails in another their both balanced.
ok lets cut the bull crap and put the propaganda's aside the m16 is not as unreliable as people say and the ak is not as inaccurate as people say they are, the 5.56 round might not have the kinetic energy as the 7.62 but still when it comes to stopping power you got to remember that the5.56 tumbles you have to remember that even russia switched to a 5.45 round, the m16 is and the ak 47 are both great guns
Yea got most of them tho the gas vents at at sport where the vast tube plugs into gas block instead of on gas tube...piston is more 74 like trunnions are different from a 47 as well
@mrbest20 you sound like a bitch kid who never fired either. You can run well over 1500-2000 rounds easy with no cleaning in a maintained lubed m4/m16 how much ammo do think a combat load is? 7 magazines (I'm sure you can do the math) and that is way less then what the gun can do with no cleaning shit (in the desert) I went 2000 rounds with no cleaning just fine (semi auto)
The British army should get rid of the $1,700 cost to produce piece of shit l85a2. They jam fairly often and is too complex in design. Not to mention the extremely wobbly upper and lower receiver, extremely stiff magazine release catch and unnatural way of use with the bolt. Give us a tactical ak-74 with a good optic attachment to make it accurate and that will be alot better
wow, great coverage of all the pros and cons. I love them both, i dont think I would be able to choose just one or the other. I used them both while in israel on a military tourism trip. We got to shoot a lot more than just those though. we shot all kinds of handguns, rifles, and even a few sniper rifles. Also go to go offroading, skydiving, and learn krav maga. The company has videos on youtube if you want to check them out, LionOps
And the bolt is self cleaning in a way. If you strip the BCG down after high round count you'll see where the bolt rides in the carrier is relatively clean. Those ring scrape any carbon off the inside of the BCG even the 4 barring surfaces on the carrier are relatively clean. I do agree at high round count the bolt likes to be wet and the oil gets a little dirty but most I the carbon builds on a non bearing tail end of the bolt past the rings.
You can get into the thousands 2000-3000 rds before cleaning. My buddy ran a Nib BCG with no lube or cleaning for over 2000 rds without failure over 2000 he started to get failures to extract but 2000rds no lube or cleaning is way more then you would see in a combat situation with lube.
@mixflip You don't even " lube" the gas rings on an m16 you lube around the front of the bolt behind the lugs, the cam, and the four raised contact surfaces on the carrier. You do not lube the gas rings and whoever told you that is wrong. But a failing gas ring will cause problems with short stroking and general maintenance and replacement is a good idea but well into high round counts .
@insertnamehere001 A modern M16/M4 can shoot reliably for well over 1000 rounds without cleaning. And even then all you need to do is lube the bolt and keep on shooting. The achilies heel of the direct impingement system is its gas rings on the bolt. If they dry up the gun stops running. Thats why you hear folks say you need to run the gun "wet". The reliability issues in Vietnam were due to bad powder and misinformation that the gun was self cleaning when it was not.
@GsxRaider Traditionally the old M16 was full auto and the newer shorter M4 was 3 round burst. There are units out there that have modified both so its not 100% accurate to say they are all this way still. Some units like the power of full auto suppressive fire and a drum mags while others like the controllability and accuracy of 3 round burst.
5.56 will fragment pretty reliably at the cannelure at 2500-2700 fps and up for 55-62gr rounds and 2300+ with 75-77gr OTM rounds. The newer m855A1 and mk318 mod 0 rounds are great rounds the problem is when they slow down under those fps ranges they tend to leave a .22 hole
haha this guy cant shot with AK, yes it is...M16 is a very litle ónly very litle accurate then Ak47 but u should see me on 200 yards what i do with it, had very good one. Ones saying good ones not its all american propaganda like allways. And people from US should see the rest of the world coz US state is making them stupid and dont wacth TV its a lie what u hear. i have friends from US and they come to Europe and like it. There is more what people from US dont know but thats all very long story
@Andrej54 In reality the AK47 has become hugely popular in the last 10 years here in the USA. Many many Americans actually prefer the AK47 over the AR15. I love them both and own both. I really like the 7.62x39 AK47 cartridge. Its great for shooting through glass, wood and bricks.
@xXJoshuaDx bad accuracy? I can tell youve never fired an ak. Its accurate up to 300m which is way past what common firefights take place within. So all that extra accuracy of the m16/m4 really isnt a big advantage. so yeah an m16 is more accurate but thats about where the advantages over ak stop. The ak47 is the best assault rifle ever even after 65 years.
both guns are good in there own way obviously the m16 is accurate..and overall good. AK has more stop per round but bad accuracy making it a good close defence weapon...all n all you need a good taste to love both systems. honestly id choose an m16 for range but cqc will always be my AK-47-106
@xXJoshuaDXx the Ak has more "stop' per round? your wrong. the 7.62x39 will punch right through you, the 5.56 will fragment inside you, creating many wound channles and delivering all potential energy.
the only thing 7.62x39 has over the 5.56x45 is penetration of hard cover, and that becomes somthing of a non issue when you bring green tips to the table
@HunterKiller308 Actually that was M16 problem. Bullets went straight through target at close range. And soldiers in IRAQ have been complaining the lacking power of M16 against AK47. Beside - M16 bullets doesn't fragment - they are turning sideways inside YOU. Check your facts!
the 5.56 slpits and fragments into many peices inside the body, leaving no exit wound, especially at close ranges. 5.56 is FAR more lethal than 7.62x39, you have no idea what your talking about. i guess you never saw a 5.56 wound profile. the only time the 5.56 wont fragment is if it dosent have enough velocity, a 20'' barrel will fragment a 55gr past 500M
stop spreading your bullshit, check your so called facts
I checked and will keep my mind. All bullets will fragment, if they hit the bone. 5.56 will tumble inside soft tissue. That's how it was designed to counter the principle of Dum-dum bullets which are illegal. And original bullets had tendency go trough body at SHORT distance that was fixed later. 5.56 is not more lethal than 7.62.
here we go if u wana knw my best friend is in the special forces this is wat he learned he said the m16 better accuracy, longer range and less recoil only downfall jus gotta keep it lubed but thts not really a biigie ok the ak more powerful round, reliable and less prone to clean cuz of blowback system but in todays world the m16 is superior but more expensive if u want a cheaper gun the ak is the way to go either way youll be ok im sure unless if your sniping 500+ out
@gibroniloco Lol my moms unit? I did 6 years with the FMF Marine Expeditionary Brigade. No Special Forces unit is classied to mention the unit name. Only specific unit members are classified kid. My moms unit...lol That one gave me a chuckle I have to admit. I used to say that shit 15 years ago.
@gibroniloco AK47 is Russian M16 American :) everyone who love guns knows that bath has own nice and bad sides in real they are nice both two thing who ever and forever in army around the world
M16 or AK-47? You could give me either but if I'm trying to take out a special forces soldier with a Ruger 10/22, then my ass is grass. Proficient training and tactical knowledge is the bottom line.
What copy of AK is this? The 200yd accuracy is way wrong. There are cheap copies worldwide with those kinds of problems. I used AK during serving in the army and I've shot groups below 10cm at 150 meters from prone. Folding stock.
@ManyThingsIDo Even a copy will shoot to 200 yards. The rifle in the video does look like a genuine Russian AK from the 1950's. It's not Chinese either. The reason the 200 yard accuracy was off was probably because a.The guy shooting it sucks. B.The sights are not correctly adjusted. C. The barrel was shot out. Unlikely though. It's just an American propganda TV show. I've shot to 200 yards with an AK and I can do a lot better then that.
simple words..... i rather say i got shoot in my arm...... Then where is my arm .......AK-47 # 1 assault rifle....and if idiots call it muchine gun ...its till an ak47....and the last thing that i whant is a condon in the barrel......for a lil minute i thoght that trojen made m16 lol ............
@xxPithius10n1xx The M16 is a select fire (aka full auto) rifle that is most commonly configured with a 20 inch barrel.
The M4 is an evolution of the M16 platform in which it has been shortened down barrel and a few other improvements like M4 feed ramps and such. Basically its a smaller version of the M16. But as you said, it is at its heart still basically the same gun.
Guns jam, guns use different ammo, guns have different properties, guns have different strengths and guns have different needs. so, all guns are different and it all depends on where you are
I don't see what's wrong with the M16. I have a cousin in the British Army who has a friend who owns an M16A4. It has NEVER jammed on him, EVER. He actrually cleans it regularly at his base camp, and as a result it has never failed him. He says (not my opinion) that people who complain about M16s jamming are 'lazy bastards who can't look after a rifle'.
He also claims to take his M16A4 over the AK-47 any day of the week. See, not all men are sheep...
@naedanger123 Both guns have their weakness's. There is no such thing as a gun that "never jams". Failure to keep the M16 bolt oiled in a combat environment and and some fine dust build up and carbon fouling to the tight tolerances of the precision M16 and it will have issues. This is well known by most gun savy folks. The accuracy, ergonomics and modularity of the M16 are enough to make it my choice in a fight but I have no illusions that it will never jam. All guns malfunction.

@mixflip Well, my cousin says it's never jammed, and I'm inclined to trust him, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a dodgy moment or two with it. It's strange that it hasn't jammed or had similar issues in a combat situation. Perhaps he modified the frame to be more solid and therefore better at keeping foreign material out from the working parts, but like I said, I'm not too sure.
Me personally? SA80 A2 or the SLR. AK-74M at a stretch mind you...
@naedanger123 Most elite level soldiers have an AR type rifle in their arsenal& don't go so much for an AK for a reason. AKs are great for unskilled fighters with little to no gun cleaning/maintaining ability& no precision shooting skills either.People who've never worked w/ an AR have a tendency to underrate AR's reliability. Without any oil an AR can shoot about 2,400rnds without jamming&on avg an AR jams@1/5,000rnds fired.Considering 1shooter will fire well less than 300rnds in battle.
Reliabilty this Reliabillty that but bring an ak to a range with an m16 see what gun shoots better

In the jungle, the AK-47 is more reliable, because the AK-47 is not afraid of dirt and neglect.

U.S. soldiers in Iraq used an AK-47 and AK-74, because the M16 often misfire because of the dust and sand.
Look at Google, there are many videos where the U.S. Army uses the AK-47.

@MrSrgj theres a problem with that the m16a4 is very reliable and never jams it only has this reputation due to the very first model m16
lillilpdiddy4567823 2 weeks ago
@MrSrgj i was in iraq and ieven i had an ak but it wasnt because the m16 was junk, it was because we could. it was something different. jamming? the reason that rifle jams is because they over oil the rifle. too much oil in an m16 is a bad thing when in the desert. i ran mine almost dry and had zero jams. infact, i had more jams in my 2 aks than my 2 ar's

@MrSrgj no i was in the marines but they make the same amount. how much you make all depends on your rank. a private makes less than all other ranks. you need to be more specific. look at a military pay scale, that would answer your questions...

The M4 and M16 have a too small caliber.
NicoandLuis 2 weeks ago
@NicoandLuis too small? too small for what? I'd like to see you stand in front of an M16 and test this theory out? anything traveling at 2100 feet per second has more than enough power to kill at close range (in a building) out to 200 yards which is where many gun fights end up. Now I do agree that in places like Afghanistan where they are fighting from hilltop to hilltop in the mountains then yes a heavier more powerful bullet is better such as the 7.62 NATO.
mixflip 2 weeks ago 4
@mixflip I tested it. I shot from about 10 meters with some single shots and the target didn´t fall. But with the AK it fell with the first shot. Even a vid on YT exists about this.

The eternal question that is better АК or М16.
Only the stupid can think that М16 better than АК. АК obviously surpasses М16. АК it is constantly modernized. In Russia, there is much that. Here for example:
АК competes only with АЕК-971 and AN-94. М16 and all from the NATO shit.
Russian will easily kill soldiers of the NATO.
V219R 1 month ago
The idea that the AR's synthetic stock is less durable than wood is absolutely wrong. The AR's furniture is lighter than solid wood furniture for sure but if you look around on u-2b you can find vids of M4s+ARs taking abuse that would turn a typical AK's wood stock into toothpicks and matchsticks.
oeyesea 1 month ago
AK47= inexpensive & foolproof. AR15 is not inexpensive & foolproof but it is lightweight, accurate, fast handling + adaptable, meaning you can simply change out the upper receiver etc. & change significant things about the rifle e.g. barrel length, caliber, sight options and combining it with other weapons like a 203 grenade launcher or shotgun. The AR is also more reliable than many people think & can be made extremely reliable by a competent armorer with the right parts.

camelpospisil 1 month ago
And why dont you compare AK74 with M16? because AK74 has a deadlier bullet, its the most controllable fully automatic rifle in the world, and has the same accuracy as M16 variant. AK47 system has been removed from most modern armies and they use AK74 variant which is essentially AK47 with a smaller round.

Also the ease of fire-select, bolt catch+bolt release & mag release are overlooked by those w/ no real world experience

echsan123 2 months ago
The AK-47 is the best gun when it comes to battlefields. The AK-47 is more famous than the M16, it is both an international symbol of revolution and oppression. The AK-47 is cheap to manufacture, really reliable, and easy to maintain. The AK-47 and the M16 went head to head in the Vietnam war, and the winning side's weapon was the AK-47. Bottom line, the AK-47 is the greatest and most famous weapon ever invented. In the Middle East It is the US's Boogeyman.
Lexman00 2 months ago 7
@Lexman00 I love the Ak47 and I plan on buying a Yugo M70 soon but I have to disagree with the whole AK is better because Vietnam won. The AK didnt win the war. Politics restricted America from fighting the war to "win". We couldnt cross into Cambodia but the VC did, we couldnt use the atomic bombs that beat Japan, and the ammo initially shipped with the wrong kind of gun powder for the jungle environment and troops were lied to by saying the M16 was self cleaning. No cleaning needed
mixflip 2 months ago 5
@mixflip Why limit the lithmus test to Viet Nam? Iraq used Soviet weapons for Desert Storm & the 2nd Gulf War, also consider how many actual battles were won by the communists in Nam. USMC killed their opposition in Fallujah with headshots while their enemy wasn't able to hit much at all. I have noticed veterans I know for a fact used M16s have a certain attitude about it while the ones with questionable veteran status have a different attitude about it.Using ARs at work 18yrs won me over fromAK
oeyesea 3 weeks ago
@Lexman00 You do realize I didn't refer to politics when I mention the VietCon's weapon of choice won against M16, right? Your video mentioned my point itself, the AK-47 won with it's simplicity and reliability. As for the politics, well, it's obvious that the US would never have won anyway. The war would have continued the same way it has in the Middle East. Guerilla Warfare is almost unbeatable. As for Atomic bombs, only psychopaths and cowards use Nuclear weapons against people.
Lexman00 2 months ago
@Lexman00 i really agree with you, but you've replied to yourself, that's the only thing i ahve to point out. lols.
111E982a 2 months ago
@Lexman00 Well AK47 did alot to win the war, but war was unwinable from the starters as US did not have clear objectives, and standard warfare doctrine "grab and keep teritory" until enemy runs out of it does not apply in jungle. Another think AK47 proved superior to M16 in vietnam and this was the ultimate moral killer for US troops. I wont mention the amount of failure of M16 on field which caused many american deaths. AK47 is ultimate assault rifle.

Butunin 2 months ago
@kolinmartz you go by rumors you hear and not personal experience or research right? The ak-47 is by no means inaccurate. It is accurate out to 300m, which most firefights dont go past 100m. Please do actual research. The ak47 fufills the required range to be considered an assault rifle so you cant call it inaccurate.

the 5.56 may not have the kinetic energy but it sure the hell turns ones inside into juice and the 7.62 may be slow but its gonna knock you down, the 5.56 is small but fast and the 7.62 is large and slow they both will have the same force because force =mass x acceleration so a slow object with a large amount of mass and a fast object with a small amount of mass will both have the same force when it hits an object basic science

The British army should get rid of the $1,700 cost to produce piece of shit l85a2. They jam fairly often and is too complex in design. And the bolt is self cleaning in a way. If you strip the BCG down after high round count you'll see where the bolt rides in the carrier is relatively clean. Those ring scrape any carbon off the inside of the BCG even the 4 barring surfaces on the carrier are relatively clean. I do agree at high round count the bolt likes to be wet and the oil gets a little dirty but most I the carbon builds on a non bearing tail end of the bolt past the rings.
elox02 2 months ago
You can get into the thousands 2000-3000 rds before cleaning. My buddy ran a Nib BCG with no lube or cleaning for over 2000 rds without failure over 2000 he started to get failures to extract but 2000rds no lube or cleaning is way more then you would see in a combat situation with lube.
elox02 2 months ago
@mixflip You don't even " lube" the gas rings on an m16 you lube around the front of the bolt behind the lugs, the cam, and the four raised contact surfaces on the carrier. You do not lube the gas rings and whoever told you that is wrong. But a failing gas ring will cause problems with short stroking and general maintenance and replacement is a good idea but well into high round counts .

Does the M16A4 still have as many reliability issues as A1
insertnamehere001 2 months ago

@Andrej54 In reality the AK47 has become hugely popular in the last 10 years here in the USA. Many many Americans actually prefer the AK47 over the AR15. I love them both and own both. I really like the 7.62x39 AK47 cartridge. Its great for shooting through glass, wood and bricks.
mixflip 3 months ago
@xXJoshuaDx bad accuracy? I can tell youve never fired an ak. Its accurate up to 300m which is way past what common firefights take place within. So all that extra accuracy of the m16/m4 really isnt a big advantage. so yeah an m16 is more accurate but thats about where the advantages over ak stop. xXJoshuaDXx 3 months ago
HunterKiller308 3 months ago
@HunterKiller308 Actually that was M16 problem. Bullets went straight through target at close range. And soldiers in IRAQ have been complaining the lacking power of M16 against AK47. Beside - M16 bullets doesn't fragment - they are turning sideways inside YOU. Check your facts!
harolze 3 months ago
@harolze LMFAO! your kidding me right?!?
the 5.56 slpits and fragments into many peices inside the body, leaving no exit wound, especially at close ranges.
HunterKiller308 3 months ago
@HunterKiller308

M16 or AK-47? You could give me either but if I'm trying to take out a special forces soldier with a Ruger 10/22, then my ass is grass. Proficient training and tactical knowledge is the bottom line.

ak-47 all day.

@mizzcookiemonster32 Unless you need to hit a man out at 400 yards.
mixflip 4 months ago
@mixflip unless you have 400 yards to fight in to begin with. Most modern combat today takes place at 100 yards of less.
44warjunkie 4 months ago
@mixflip Very true. The new saying is "1 inch to 100 yards" is where modern warriors are finding themselves in gunfights today.

What copy of AK is this? The 200yd accuracy is way wrong. There are cheap copies worldwide with those kinds of problems. I used AK during serving in the army and I've shot groups below 10cm at 150 meters from prone. Folding stock.
ManyThingsIDo 4 months ago
@ManyThingsIDo Even a copy will shoot to 200 yards. The rifle in the video does look like a genuine Russian AK from the 1950's. It's not Chinese either. The reason the 200 yard accuracy was off was probably because a.The guy shooting it sucks. B.The sights are not correctly adjusted. C. The barrel was shot out. Unlikely though. It's just an American propganda TV show. I've shot to 200 yards with an AK and I can do a lot better then that.

can somebody tell me whats the difference between the M16 and the M4 I mean aren't they both the same?
xxPithius10n1xx 4 months ago
@xxPithius10n1xx The M16 is a select fire (aka full auto) rifle that is most commonly configured with a 20 inch barrel.
The M4 is an evolution of the M16 platform in which it has been shortened down barrel and a few other improvements like M4 feed ramps and such. Basically its a smaller version of the M16. But as you said, it is at its heart still basically the same gun.

@xxPithius10n1xx m16 is bigger

Guns jam, guns use different ammo, guns have different properties, guns have different strengths and guns have different needs. so, all guns are different and it all depends on where you are
StrelokNikitin 4 months ago
I don't see what's wrong with the M16. I have a cousin in the British Army who has a friend who owns an M16A4. It has NEVER jammed on him, EVER. He actrually cleans it regularly at his base camp, and as a result it has never failed him. He says (not my opinion) that people who complain about M16s jamming are 'lazy bastards who can't look after a rifle'.
He also claims to take his M16A4 over the AK-47 any day of the week. See, not all men are sheep...

@naedanger123 *actually
