The Maharishi was an influence to John in this song but often not seen is Yoko Ono's influence. The lyrics reflect the Maharishi's philosophy but strangely also Yoko Ono's performance art from her book Grapefruit. Look up at the sky and imagine you are a teacher to the universe.

i watched about 10 covers. all professionals. David Bowie, Fiona Apple, Pink floyd and a bunch of others and YOURS IS THE BEST! you just sing the song with your voice and dont try to do abunch of gimmick ad libbing or changing the rhythm, its pure music put it on iTunes and get paid you both sound great.!

Melissa Polinar is indeed amazing! My favourite part of this song is 1:33, when Melissa starts with "Images of broken light...", her voice shows the vulnerability, humility and melancholy that I believe the Beatles had intended with this song. The harmonies come in nicely making this one of my most played covers on youtube.

I love this cover by Jennifer & Mellisa better than any version I've ever heard including the Beatles. John Lennon wanted to do more with this song but it never happened. So he recorded it with one voice and no harmony with Paul. There are early practice takes with Paul singing too but nothing any good. This version does the song more justice than the Beatles ever did. And John expressed his disappointment for the lack of support by the others for this song. I'm sure he'd love this.
