Imagine the problems that could have been averted had the Catholic Church allowed the use of contraception 40 years ago after Vatican II. Instead, the pope ignored the majority opinion of the people appointed to discuss the issue and stuck with Catholic dogma on birth control.
One report says that probably up to 80% of married Catholic couples in Europe use artificial contraception. Why? High standards of living, education and governments that promote contraception.
@srikargottipati Is that what you see? I see poor women who have been lead astray by false and diseased notions. I see women who are in need of consolation and forgiveness. I see death. Not because of religion, but because of worldly ways that twist one's mind into thinking that it is somehow better to kill a child than to endure tough times. It was not religion that got her pregnant - it was temptation and her free cooperation with it. And it was not religion that caused this shameful death.
@BalladoftheWindfish Forgiveness for what ? Yes, they need consolation and help, but she needs them from religion. She could have used a contraceptive, which again is banned by religious dogma. Again, the poor woman is so deluded, that she still thinks abortion is against some God's will because she has been thoroughly brain washed. As I said, this is what religion brings to the table, pain and suffering only.
@srikargottipati True religion clarifies. Irreligion twists the mind and obscures truth. What other explanation could there be for your mental gymnastics such as this: "She could have used a contraceptive." Or, she could have, you know, not had sex. Funny how that always eludes the mind of people like you. It was the secular world that encouraged her to have irresponsible sex, not religion. Then it was the secular world that told her the only way was to kill her child, not religion...
@BalladoftheWindfish LOL. It is the stupid religion that says not to have save sex by not using contraceptives. Having sex with consent is a human right, but if you don't want to get pregnant, its a human right to use a contraceptive. Funny, how human rights elude religions people like you. A woman has complete right and control over her body, and she can choose if she wants to get aborted or not. Religion obscures the truth, as it has for you. Truth being she has to suffer, as she is now.
@srikargottipati No, it is her religion which tells her to be responsible and to abstain from sex outside of the confines of marriage. And, under your view of atheism, there is no such thing as human rights, so you might want to get that straightened out. You are whole argument falls apart if you are an atheist.
@BalladoftheWindfish Yea, what does your religion say when she wants to have sex with her husband, but not get pregnant ? The fact here is that its her religious dogma that caused her the pain. LOL stupid generalization about Atheism. OK, then under your view of religion, there is nothing known as morality either. Since religious people don't have morality, your argument of murder also falls apart.
@srikargottipati That view is entirely the cause of so much pain and suffering - sex has its natural end in pregnancy. To make sex an end unto itself is to make it nothing more than two objects pleasuring each other, and pregnancy becomes an unintended side-effect that needs to be aborted. Your view dehumanizes and separates sex from pregnancy so that every pregnancy becomes an "unwanted" one. Abortion is then seen as the solution. So it precisely her religion that has the correct view...
@BalladoftheWindfish Yes your right regarding what my view is. But, again I don't agree with you that it is bad. Its not wrong to enjoy sex for the sake of pleasure only, as long as there is mutual consent for it. Partners need to have full right and leverage regarding the nature of their sexual relation and how they want to avoid natural repercussions of it. It has nothing dehumanizing in it, they can always go for pregnancy when the choose to. I'm only for choice and religion inhibits choice
@srikargottipati ...that being said, natural methods such as NFP are much safer than artificial contraception and, if done right, are just as effective. Ironically, they are also more pleasurable and entirely in line with morality!
What I said is not a generalization. There is no coherent view of human rights under atheism, so any argument you have about "rights" is simply incoherent.
@BalladoftheWindfish NFP is too tedious and highly impractical. Why go for it, when we have more efficient ways like contraception. 'There is no coherence of human rights under atheism'. LOL , there is no coherence of morality under religion too, so argument you have about murder is the same too
@srikargottipati ...Therefore, the only pain and suffering here is due to irreligion. And a human being is dead because of it. Her religion encouraged responsible action - not to have sex outside of marriage, to abstain and be chaste, and to care for all life. Irreligion encourages the exact about - and THAT leads to pain, suffering, and death. Why? Because it is turned in itself - it knows nothing of sacrifice and responsibility. Wake up.
The real problem is the government's neglect of educating the impoverished people on preventing pregnancy, sexual abstinence in minors and deprivation of access condoms and contraceptives This is the reason of so many mistakes and unwanted pregnancies. The government should implement laws which is strict on any forms of rape such as date rape and more severe punishment such as longer incarceration. Incompetent government officials disregarding the consequences of overpopulation is to blame.
For the church to be strong and influential they need a large flock of people. A large flock who are suffering, miserable, and in deep poverty. This flock would turn to the church for hope. The faith of the flock is the main power of the church to spread and maintain their self made dogma. The flock is brainwashed, sexually abused, and society is controlled to maintain the suffering, misery, poverty and most of all faith. Genius, insidious, truly insidious.
i GUESS ONE WAY TO STOP POPULATION CONTROL IS FOR LADIES TO STOP GETTING PREGNANT. MEN SHOULD STOP THEIR URGES. LIKE THE PRIEST. THAT IS WHY THE PRIESTS CAN NOT RELATE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE KIDS. THEY DON'T EVEN FEED THE POOR AND THEY ARE AGAINST ARTIFICIAL MEANS OF PREVENTING PREGNANCY. WAAAKE UPP PRIESTS YOU HAVE URGES, TOO. LET THE POOR PEOPLE HAVE FREE CONDOMS, PILLS AND HAVE FREE LIGATION OR THE BEST MEN SHOULD HAVE FREE VASECTOMY. IT IS HARD TO FEED A LOT MOUTHS.!!! WAKE UP PRIESTS.!!!
The pathetic politician is being ignorant because he doesn't want to paint a bad picture about the Philippines. He doesn't want to tell the truth to an OUTSIDER, that's what I believe. If the interviewer was Filipino from Manila, he would discuss and agree with her argument.
Why is she making the argument "even if it is illegal, there will be risky abortions" when the argument should be "why the fuck is it illegal in the first fucking place?"
@jimmytwoshoes2009 You are so right, he is so stupid, I met him before and he did not do anything to the National Housing Authority. He is so blinded, because he has means to feed his children, go to the squatters area and you would see that poor people need free condoms, pills, free vasectomy and ligation. Help the poor life is so hard for them with so many kids to feed. Ironically those who can feed kids are smart enough to have only two kids to be able to provide all their needs in life!
The Philippines is unfortunately seriously Catholic with the Catholic church here having a strong hold which is why abortion is illegal in the country.
@Sconz32 du-huh because if not, girls would go on fucking and aborting without even thinking about not getting pregnant in the first place. I say: don't ban contraceptives, ban abortion after the 8th week.
That's such bullshit! So what if it's ILLEGAL?!!! That doesn't STOP women from getting abortions...omg such a stubborn idiot. And how could he IGNORE the amount of women having abortions?! I am soo angry at that man. 4:45 "...people are careful not to indulge in it...because it's a criminal act in the Philippines" WHAT?!
