The true art of opera has been lost, they shouldn't need microphones to be able to be heard, you go to Seattle opera, NO ONE has a microphone and the voices are fuller as well. Yes Tarja has a beautiful voice but she lacks the support if she needs a microphone, either that or the orchestra doesn't know piano or pianissimo.

she`s a full lyric, this aria however doesn`t require extensive coloratura , so it fits her Fach quite well. She could however never naturally sing sempre libera. Lyrics have the power, but not the agillity, so usually Violetta is sung by coloraturas: dramatic c: Maria Callas, even lighter lyric c. Anna Moffo or sfogato : Lilly Pons. Verdi wrote this for a dramatic coloratura, but Violleta is only 22 years old, which in reality is a very young age for a soprano to sing heavy repetoir like this

As much as I like Tarja's voice, I don't like this. Nobody can ever deny her singing abilities, but this... :/ It's like she rushed too much. I love La Traviata too much so I cannot say that it sounds good when it does not. At least that's my opinion.

@FreezingEmbrace Well yes, not "heavy metal", but to be precise, she sings both Opera and Power/Symphonic Metal which is the synthesis of Operatic/Melodic and Folkish &/or Electronica in Metal. Grunts, growls and groans are synominous with Black Metal and Death Metal. I never liked Metal much besides a little Heavy Metal in rare instances until Power/Symphonic Metal. It has such power and glory, eminating such emotions in perfect synthesis.

En cierto modo cada uno teneis una parte de razón. No es la mejor soprano del mundo porque seríamos poco serios afirmandolo pero lo cierto es que su andadura musical ha sido impresionante y tiene mucha técnica...años y años de técnica que a muchas nos gustaría tener encima!!!!

como ex--interprete de nightwish yo la admiré e incluso ella es una de las culpables de que yo estudie bel canto, pero como cantante de ópera le falta todavia en comparación con las grandes intérpretes de este género...y dejenme decirle que la tesitura vocal de una persona no garantiza la calidad de voz como el que dijo que por nada era soprano hay contraltos y mezzoss mucho mejores que ella.....
