  • Noumber four Bobby Orr

  • best ever hands down no argument

  • VERMIN SUPREME!

  • The game is so different now. See .56, the opponent has a chance to totally lay Orr out and he eased up on him. You never see that today.

  • @GorterPoss Case in point: Marchand

  • yeah, i guess he's pretty good...

  • The NHL needs to get rid of the instigator rule. In Orr and Gretzky's days if someone dared rough up these two, Semenko, the Wire, or McSorely would go out there and ask the offending player to not do that again. (Not that Orr couldn't kick ass on his own.) This is why they could perform their magic. Now we have Crosby who is never coming back who should be having a 20 year career on the sidelines. If a Laraque would have been able to do his job, Crosby would have had a 70 goal season.

  • i think if there was contact like there is today. he'd get wrecked...however is is a fabulous player.

  • @StarCrossLover Not at all man, Its tough to compare today to back then but Bobby Orr was a bad ass, he was strong agressive, could fight, and most of his career didnt even wear a helmet. he would be doing most of the contact. He wouldn't get wrecked.

  • @StarCrossLover you dont really know what your talking about do you

  • 1:01. Serious acceleration.

  • at 1:48 he blocks the shot with his stick, thats crazy

  • what Orr did, concidering the skates and sticks of the time was amazing... it owuld have been fun to watch him play a whole healthy career...

  • Day in, day out, Larry Robinson was a better defenseman than Orr.

  • @BigEdDunkel not a chance....prove that to me with highlights...

  • this guy killing penalties in 72 vs ny was a thing to behold he would circle and circle too much man... greatest hockey player ever...

  • orr could do it all...he was even a god damn goaltender. one thing for sure, time slows down when he has the puck. players are more hesitant to try him for fear of being made a fool of.

  • I wish I was alive to see this guy live.

  • Comment removed

  • Orr rev-elutionized the game the moment he stepped on the ice. Being a defenseman and dominating up and down the ice the way he did was incredible. Greztky was counted on to score, and Edmonton's style was built to score goals. Boston at that time was a physical team that just happen to have 4 great scorers. If Orr had stayed healthy and played a full carreer (say12yrs.), He would certainly be the greatest of all-time. In a 4 year span, 70-74, he was the best!, then and now.

  • Gretzky wishes he was Bobby Orr...

  • Nobody could skate, stick handle or change direction like Orr. That he was tough as nails and could defend better than anyone else...well....easily the greatest ever. Gretzky and Lemieux came closest....But there is no one as good as Orr.

  • man, if only this guy got a full career under his belt... the meaning of "the great one" might have been completely different

  • Class act all round!!! Orr for Prime Minister!!!!

  • Orr destroyed Paul Coffey in points per game and Paul Coffery is an all time great offensive defenceman. Orr played severely injured a lot of his career. Bobby Orr was the Wayne Gretzky of offensive defensemen.

  • Truly amazing hockey player. My favourite of all time.

  • OMFG

  • I still watch this video with Nobody Does it Better playing in another tab.

  • @MrBlackhawksfan

    me too

  • 16 dirty habs fans viewed this video

  • @robitaille03 He learned from watching the clips of the great Bobby Orr.

  • Bobby Orr is EPIC!!!

  • open a new tab and listen to this ( AqXkMpFPZnE ) while watching the montage. exact same length.

  • I LOVE Bobby and Bruins.I Can't wait to show my new #4 VINTINGE 1973-1974 jersey~ youtube.com/watch?v=8fT_02IPoWg

  • Great Video~ Hey guys,HAVE A LOOK on my awesome Bobby Orr 1973-1974 vintage jersey. youtube.com/watch?v=8fT_02IPoWg

  • mannnn those goalies were soo shitttttt

  • 16 defense men got out skated by the best defense ever period

  • mario lemieux, with a healthy career, would've been the best... and i'm not a penguins fan

  • serge savard of les canadiens said it best- there are stars, all-stars, super-stars and then there is bobby orr..........................

  • lol wtf don cherry ? haha

  • Wayne Gretzky is widely considered to be the greatest hockey player since Bobby Orr -- not widely considered better. Wayne was tremendously talented and skilled, so I must give respect and credit where due.

It's probably safe to assume that even Wayne Gretzky places Bobby Orr above and beyond the best. Bobby Orr was epic, stratospheric ... a phenom.

  • do what i do. i open a second browser and play nobody does it better, as i play this video in the other window. works great. fuck copyright

  • my grandma was neighbours wih bobby orr and played street hockey with him

  • The play at 0.43 is really unbelievable...

  • to those saying orr was better than wayne gretzky, please stop fantasizing. it's debatable as to who was more talented, but gretzky did it on the ice, and orr was hobbling around in the trainer's room. that's what made gretzky better. you could rely on him to produce. orr was talented, but unfortunately he was a pussy with a bum knee.

  • @tigerclaw19 haha you don't know what u are talking about...watch more clips of the Great Bobby Orr and you'll see.. hey if u can't even skate I don't think you can even get out on the ice. And besides those guys playing against Orr was scared STIFF! Everyone has injuries when they play a sport so intensely..so immature of you to say Orr was a pussy with a bum knee. You have an injury like Orr and still play in the 76 Canada cup? Don't think so.

  • those people saying orr would dominate today's nhl must be joking. did you guys watch this video before commenting? most of those goals were pathetic. i could have stopped half of them and i can barely skate. today, with more talented goalies and bigger equipment, no way would orr's floaters from the blue line go in. orr was very lucky to play when goaltending was a lump of shit.

  • @tigerclaw19 Gretzky was the apitomy of the word pussy; seeing your not even 30 years old you really do not know what your talking about. To bad you never saw orr skate he could skate on 1 leg better than gretzky on two. Your showing your young age and inexsperiance on the subject of hockey...

  • @tigerclaw19 HAHAHAHA did you watch this video before commenting, Bobby Orr was probably the best player and you are saying you could stop his goals? BAHAH id like to see that happen, He got some of the worlds most famous goals good luck stopping them!

  • After watching this its clear that Orr is the best hockey player of all time. Sure Gretzky could score but just watch this guy skate and control the game... Gretzky couldn't do that. Orr > Gretz

  • @KGfan7 nah gretzky is beter

  • @vpanesar Even though Gretzky was an amazing scorer, Orr's all-around ability sets him above the rest. A defenseman leading in scoring is nuts! He could at times literally control the game skating around players. His defensive abilities were also top-flight. Interesting when you look at other clips how tough he could be literally out-muscling guys to score. A pretty good fighter too!

  • @vpanesar better at what? being a pussy? remember Gretzky was a forward and Orr's a defenseman who won the scoring title.

  • to bad there's no music

  • Goalies were lucky to have a job after playing against Orr but what can you do when you have to go against the greatest player not just in hockey but in sport of all-time

  • goalies sucked at that time!

  • @milleniumfalcon79 haha you try to stop a puck with little padding and that flimsy mask. today's goalies virturally is wearing full tank armour!

  • Wish I could go back in time and watch him play live. He revolutionized the game.

  • holy shit those defensive plays at 1:35

  • Try setting this video to "dirty water," very appropriate for a Boston Bruins player, and even more lively than Carly Simon.

Besides, it's the rhythm to that song actually feels more like a Bobby Orr rush than a grand play by David Ortiz.

  • I'm so old I have the song on an ALBUM, what idoit's you copyright holders are , don't you understand that getting air time for the song might get new fan's , and maybe sales on this tune. Damn anyone with a pc could probaly get the thing on line somewhere for free. Great song, great clip, why not get them back together! It's a bitch having to pull the album out to watch this clip, but Bobby Orr's worth it.Man o man with the sport's Dr.s of today @#$% ... Thank's Bobby, I'll alway's remember!!!

  • Heads up to Warner Brothers for removing this soundtrack. I shall now think twice before buying any of your music or videos ever again.

  • wow, goalies were soo bad back then

  • jean beliveau was better, he played 20 seasons to..

  • @datsyuk134life Well maybe if Orr didn't bust his knee several times he would of played longer. Beliveau' one of the greatest, but Orr is THE Greatest!

  • not that impressed. goalies SUCKED back then

  • @Portafest Lemieux, Gretzky, and Orr made goalies look stupid and still would.

  • I;m just not convinced . . . bobby played against a lot of tomato cans.

  • @TheGuysmily - LOL! -True, but with no helmets and primitive gear it was a different (crazy-dangerous) world back then. And ice is still ice and steel is still steel and Bobby used to stop slapshot pucks (goals) with his face, which no fancy-pants pro will do today.... cheers!

  • It's all favouritism on Cherry's part.

  • boy, those goalies were terrible back then

  • @williamp1955 think is lack of protective gear they are not as brave.

  • AWESOME ATHLETE AWESOME MAN!!! I hated the Bruins but I loved Bobby Orr ...the best ever.

  • dominating presence on the ice

  • Paul Coffey, Bourque, Lidstrom,. Kaberle, Salming, way better than this guy

  • @carla531 wow...lots of jokers. First big Ed and now you. Lindy couldn't sniff this guys jock....little on hold it. Coughy .... an even bigger joke...probably not in the top 8 dmen. The last two I won't mention...because in the conversation..they are unmentionable.

  • @carla531 Orr won more scoring titles and Norris Trophies than all of them put together.

  • @carla531 Consider this; In 1970, one year, Orr won more awards than all of these guys put together over their entire careers ! Smythe....Ross.......Norris......Hart.....Plus / Minus.....SI Player of the Year....Sport Mag Athlete of the Year......and on and on and on. 1 year.

  • I opened up another youtube window and played "nobody does it better" while watching this video

  • great vid man Orr was one of the best, and i liked how you saved his flying goal for the end

  • Bryan McCabe is better

  • Day in, day out, Larry Robinson was better a better defenceman than Orr.

  • @BigEdDunkel LOL...thanks for the laugh. Larry is one of my all time favs...an awesome dman and one of the very best. Larry would be the first to admit what is obvious to everyone except you. Larry wasn't anywhere near Orr on skill and overall on ice dominance. Wow...you are the first to write this down. Larry is in my top 8, but there his a huge gap between #1 and #2. Orr rules.

Halak had a good game tonight eh??

  • @BigEdDunkel Bs Robinson was just a big stiff!

  • @DonQwantsyou

p.s I found out that Orr did win a cup, but i just wanted to know which year.

  • @crawhip7 Bobby Orr was on 2 Bruin Cup winners, 1n 1970 and 1972, he scored the winning goal in each and was playoff MVP in each. Harry Sinden in 1970 and T. Johnson were his coaches in those 2 Cup winning years. Cherry was coach of Orr in 1974-75, and that was when he "opened and closed the door for him when he went on and off ice", is what he probably meant.

  • @DonQwantsyou

Yeah, that Don Cherry is a very strange character I must say. I read his bio stats etc, it says he only played one season for the NHL with the Bruins during the playoffs. Maybe he's not the best hockey player but he's sure flamboyant with his 'coaches corner' thing he had going, and now he wants to invest in a Winnipeg hockey team.

Talk about winner. (Knock on some wood though eh , heheh)

  • @DonQwantsyou

Although i like his leadership approach to hockey such that you don't necessarily have to be 'the best' as long as you can self evalutate yourself and not do something stupid so as to make a mockery out yourself; then it means you're 'an ok' hockey player... as how he evalutates himself to be- I assume.

  • @crawhip7 Cherry was a excellent coach for the Bruins from 1975-79 although he also had great talent with Middleton, Park, ratelle, ect, not just "lunch pail guys". Came within a whisker of winning Cup vs dynasty Canadiens in 1979, but he clashed with GM Sinden so he left. A great loss for the Bruins, but a great gain for hockey in Canada. He is a winner in every sense and his great success after Boston is no surprise.

  • @DonQwantsyou

Interesting , i just wanted to know who you were referring to when you said about the 'lunch pail guys' , some of the previous coaches? baffled.

  • @DonQwantsyou

Please note that i just sent you two emails only two minutes apart, this is the third etc...(i thought maybe incase you needed to know)

  • @crawhip7 Cherry liked TOUGH players. he used to say even his talented nice players were plenty tough as well, and he bragged that Bruins set a record one year for most 20 goal scorers in one season.

  • @DonQwantsyou

Oh, i get it, i think you mean the players with no real talent, like the goons. heheh.

  • @crawhip7 Yeah that's right. The Bruins in those days under Cherry were known as "Lunch Pail A.C." I don't know what A.C. meant, maybe Athletic Club. They were thought of as blue collar type players, muckers and grinders, grunts, take your lunch pail to work and just grind out results, which they did, O'Reilly was the prototype, who incidently also made himself a great player with tremendous effort.

  • @DonQwantsyou

So what's all the hype about with the coach's corner thing? and what ever happened to the Bruins when Cherry was coaching them? were they under alot of competition from other team players? Obviously.

  • @crawhip7 Cherry is a showman who understands hockey is just a form of entertainment, that's what coach's corner is all about. The B's under Cherry were almost as successful as the B's with Orr. Like I said he stressed a simple style of pinching along the boards, dump and chase on offense and smash and grind until you score, something the present Bruins, who lack heart and guts, could learn from.

  • @DonQwantsyou

yeah but icannot understand Cherry sometimes, when he bashes Ovechekin for being too rough on the ice, like one of his coaches corner speeches last year he was saying that Ovechekin is a good goal scorer and there's no need for him to be shoving and tumbling other players unnecessarily on the ice....

  • @DonQwantsyou

He was also criticizing Ovechekin's goal celebrations, all athletes do that especially in tennis , players like Nadal with the fist pump etc...and what about Gretzky? his famous side fist pump after goal celebration hurrah etc...though he never rode his stick.

  • @crawhip7 OMG riding the stick...that's equivalent to a mullet! lol

  • Great compilation!!

  • best hockey plaayer in nhl history

  • HANDS DOWN the best hockey player EVER!!!!!

Gretzky was a pussy, Mario was sick all the time, & Howe was a dirty sob on the ice

    ORR OWNS!

  • Bobby Orr's the greatest of all time! Ask Don Cherry or any of the other great hockey legends who got to see him play. Hell, ask Gretzky! He'll tell you who's really the greatest!

  • @dfbhcf

Did Orr when any Stanleys when Cherry was coaching the Bruins?

  • @crawhip7 No,he only played one year with Cherry as coach 1975, but he won his second scoring title that year.

  • @DonQwantsyou

    What about in '72?

  • @DonQwantsyou

I saw this clip once where Cherry was saying that he 'opened and closed the doors for Bobby Orr' .....really? so it was Cherry who helped Orr get his foot in the door sorta speak? Just curious as to what he meant by that statement.

  • the rush that begins at 1:03...one of the best goals ever.

  • Those other players are not standing still people. That's Bobby Fucking Orr. THE BEST EVER. E-V-E-R.

  • it's weird watching hockey where the players aren't wearing helmets lol

  • Could you pls upload this montage with audio somewhere else? It worked perfectly together...

  • Did anyone catch Gretzky igniting the Olympic torch? Where was Bobby?

I guess that honour speaks absolute volumes.

  • Hey dumb dumb...did you even watch the footage?? He was right beside him with the flag (Orr was one of the only non Olympians involved...hmmmm). Oh..they called 99.."one of the greatest hockey players ever"...I wonder why....cause they called Orr the same thing!!! You are such a dolt...you can't even get stuff right that happened 3 days ago.

  • @TheDome1972 its the marketing they picked Gretzky as he was younger and more people remembered him,. Orr had the honor of bringing in the Canadian flag with the other great Canadians.

  • the best

  • A1 Number1.

  • He's the best

  • Greatness in motion.

  • The best of all.

  • i met bobby orr once across the street from maple leaf gardens in a parking lot. he is a nice guy very humble down to earth gentlemen with alot of class. greatest hockey player of all time by far. wayne gretzky is the biggest cry baby of all time.....

  • the best of the best

  • The Greatest ever debate between Orr and Gretzky can begin when The Great One starts winning Selke Trophies as best defensive forward. Remember, Orr won

  • I have met Bobby before, He is one of the most down-to-earth people you will ever meet. The greatest to ever play!

  • I like his hustle after time 1:50. He was often faulted by envious critics during his career for not playing enough defense. But the top players who played against him said, "He doesn't have to play much defense if he always has the puck." But in this play it shows why coaches made him a defenseman and not a forward. Other reasons: you want him bringing the puck out of your end & you want him at the blue line taking slap shots.

  • @JoeyFudd Haha yeah who needs defense when Orr always has the puck! I love Bobby Orr! I am still waiting one day to meet him! Saw him from afar at BC Place at hockey Fantasia 10 plus years ago, but he was gone when the line up I was in was dismissed as 1 hr had pass and he had to go to another function. boo!

  • The best ever.

  • if anyone ever doubts bobby orr or wayne gretzky. simply look at their stats and imagine them being on your fantasy hockey team. your team would be so good ppl would cry.

  • Incredible athlete!

    Truly the greatest

  • Fuck, I really wish that this vid still had the audio. It makes the montage...

  • Priceless footage. I could watch it all day.

  • The best.

  • This video is awesome with the "Nobody Does It Better" soundtrack. Fkn ridiculous that it's removed. You can find similar vid. with "Simply The Best" bein' played, what's the diff.? Orr and Gretz both incredible.(hopeless arguement)

  • gretzky could score..that was it..

  • You don't know anything about hockey

  • The problem with people who say that Gretzky is the greatest is that they only look at the statistics instead of actual video clips as well. Orr is the greatest hockey player of all time.

    Remember: 5 Orr's could beat 5 Gretzky's.

  • Mario Lemieux is the greatest hockey player of all time. Orr and Gretzky are a hair behind.

  • True on ice domination only belongs to Orr. Mario was amazing, I loved watching him play..however, he simply could not begin to compete with what Orr did in all three zones of the ice. If you would like to see the gf-ga stats and +/- stats let me know. Mario could compete with Gretzky (I rank Mario as a better overall player than 99). He simply could not compete with Orr..then again, no one could.

  • Who was the team Bobby was playing against at 40-47 that was in Green Jerseys and who was no. 9 that Bobby passed the puck to while he was down on the ice and ended up scoring. I was just a kid then but I remember that part of the game as a kid.

    Thanks ahead of time,

    The Meltdownman

  • The team was Minnesota North Stars. The Bruin he passed to (wearing #9) was Johnny Bucyk.

  • Bobby Orr was one of the best hockey players ever. !

  • FUCK COPYRIGHT ISUSES

  • Gretzky was over-rated. As they say, if you put 5 Ron Duguays against 5 Wayne Gretzkys -who would win? Yes, you are so right-Mr. Ron and his hair would skate circles around The Weiner any day of the week. I once saw Duguay kill a penalty for 5 min. against the Cleveland Barons and then go around their whole team and score. It was called back because of a holding penalty-but I shall not forget it.

    Love,

    A Concerned Parent

  • Ahh Ronny..the best hair in hockey. I once saw him put a puck 5 ft over the end glass on a shot that was non-deflected. Best hair.. most inaccurate shot. Makes me smile though...if a hockey player could prance..that would be Duguay.

  • The best ever....Give him today's technology he would destroy the NHL.

    The perfect athlete..

  • @Wonderfuldaysable The Two Greatest athletes I have ever witnessed. One was an unstoppable thoroughbred that excelled far past any and all competitors....a powerful stride like no other. No comparison, no peer even 40 yrs later.

    The other was Secretariat.

  • @Wonderfuldaysable gretzky > orr

  • @Slipknot5301 Well, yeah as a team player, no one can beat Gretz, but Orr was the ultimate individual player (and a good team player).

    Still, brains > brawn.

  • So amazing. Always was always will be.

  • whenever i watch this vid, which is often. i still put nobody does it better on in another window. this is the best montage/highlight reel ive ever seen and the song makes it that much better. i tip my hat to you redmasque.

  • you got that right my friend met him

  • The greatest athlete of all time.

  • -Amazing skating and control, literally keeping the puck from the whole other team

-Not only speed, but out-muscling guys, moving past them and still having the control to make great shots

-Also a guy with lighting fast punches!

  • The best!

  • billie bob, a 'panel' of 300 hockey PLAYERS of today and yesterday voted Orr the greatest by a mile.

  • the thing that sets orr apart is his otherworldly fast twich reflexes. watch as he plays 'goalie' and in this video makes a stop in a split second, far faster than Mike Jordan on the crossover. even more incredibly somewhere else on youtube, or again plays 'goalie,' and bats a puck out of the air! more incredibly still on youtube, bobby hull fires an slapper, 100 mph and orr picks it out and then blocks it with his shoulder. the fastest 'twich' of all time!

  • I agree! The fastest of all time, although once in an all-star game he wasn't fast enough to get his nuts out of the way of a Bobby Hull howitzer. LOL. However, he crawled off, sucked it up, and never missed a shift.

  • The people who took the music off eat shit!

  • Magic! just magic

  • yes bobby kicks 99 every time

  • Let me get this straight. The audio has been disabled because WMG did not authorize its use. WMG is obviously afraid that someone will hear the song, and perhaps purchase the CD, or perhaps someone will hear the song and recommend it to someone else, who may purchase the CD. I can definately see why the additional exposure for the song on YouTube would be a bad thing for WMG. WMG - get a f*cking clue!

  • Now we know why the music is being taken down..this idiot is crying to WMG and youtube because too many of us are telling the truth about how Orr kicks 99's butt!!!!

Frostybeek (3 weeks ago) Show Hide Reply |Spam

No, again you are mistaken. Highlander has stolen this music and should not be applauded for his criminal act. I'M TELL'N!

  • I stole this post from Bill on faceoff I rarely do this, but, Bill is so articulate and correct at describing Orr. For those of us who were privileged to see Orr play keep away..this article says it all. Only Orr could turn a 3 on 5 into a 2 minute highlight tape.

There have been many great hockey players that I have watched over the last 55 years. There even have been a dozen or so that I would say were magnificent, including Rocket, Howe, Beliveau, Gretzky, Lemieux, Lafleur and Sawchuk.

  • Today's Crosby and Ovechkin may become magnificent, too, in time. But as I overview this period, Orr is the only player who has actually left me in awe. And I was a Leafs fan! If you didn't see Orr play, you just cannot understand what it means when people say he could actually take control a hockey game, single-handedly. No one I've seen before or since has done what he did. Orr certainly was not a puck hog but every once in a while, you could see the kid in him rise to the top,

  • when he decided to have some fun and kill a penalty - all by himself. His team mates could see what he was up to and they would all just kind of back off, basically to keep out of his way - Orr himself against the entire other team. When he did it on the road, the fans would either fall quiet in amazement or stand and boo. I've seen the other team's bench actually stand to watch, so they wouldn't miss it. When Orr did this in Boston, of course, the roof just about came off.

  • Will there be another like him? Sure. In today's terms, all you need, is someone who combines the very best of the intelligence, playmaking and passing skills of Gretsky, the burning desire of a D. Tucker, the shot and goal-scoring ability of Ovechkin, the skating of Crosby, the fighting ability of Laroque and the leadership Messier - all rolled into one person. Well almost - you'd still be missing the sheer joy of child, playing the game he loves and the off-ice class and humility of.? Awesome.

  • beliveau ahead of orr?what a laugh. leading scorer in the league and played defence.lets see gretsky do that.

  • FYI F--K YOU WMG....Will never buy anything from them today forward.

  • I Do not even follow hockey anymore and I easily recognize him as the greatest ever!!

  • Their are players, stars, superstars and then their is BOBBY ORR, greatest athelete of the century. Remember, he had to quit when he was 29. We never even saw him at his best.

  • im a huge hockey fan and i must say that for me its gretzky the one and only best playeur aver

but boby orr is the most incredible offensif defenceman i ever seen in my life

best playeurs ever by talent and leadership

    1.wayne gretzky

    2.mario lemieux

    3.jean beliveau for is time

    4.boby orr for is time

    5.gordie howe for is time

and looking at hockey today mike green will be as good as boby orr for exemple if he turn better when taking age

    anyways its my opinion
