  • I love kevin because he'll gives long detailed answers to short questions

  • why is his voice so high?

  • My only real gripe with Kevin's comments are that Musicology was a fantastic album.

  • Prince sucks ass!! Smith Has a cult following, not just fans. Maybe you need a reality check yourself mate.

  • A cult following is a small group of people.

    @TheSnoochyboochies

  • Whatever Kevin Smith says, Prince will always be 100 times more talented than him, so he loses by default

  • 6.56 An English soccer shirt?

  • @HorrorHarry100 It's Juventus, Italian team.

  • @TheLiamSoutar Thanks. I always thought soccer was an English thing

  • @HorrorHarry100 In europe we only call it football and we mostly look at "American Football" the same way Americans look at "Soccer" :)

  • lol what is Smith wearing? Jedi fashion :D

  • Jon Peters is so insane, that I actually like him. He's the only one who kept Burton's ass in check, which is why Batman '89 > Batman Returns by a country mile.

  • @JesusInNike23 that's cuz it just got worse from there on out.

  • Comment removed

  • Whos the girl in pink with the nice bussom?

  • non disclosure agreement? I thought Prince didn't believe in contracts

  • Kevin looks like a flasher in that coat.

  • @ampoules1 Lol. I thought the same thing.

  • If Prince showed up at my door step trying to recruit me to be a Jehovah witness and said that I would so be on that dumb band wagon!

  • lol someone turned up the treble....he sound like his nuts havent grown in yet.

  • weird hardcore jehovahs witnesses have been hitting my door up, coincidentley i had just re-bought sign'o'the times and was blasting that album nonstop

  • Is the video sped up some? His voice sounds slightly chipmunkish.

  • @TylerGamer84 Don't do speed mate. ; )

  • stop gaining coolness by talking about Prince, we all know him how's he like so what. get a life, all of us got scrued in payment sometime.

i love UTCM movie, even so i am director myself.

it's like saying that cubric often was shooting with only 1 source of light in clockwork orange. it is like it is, don't dissrespect it.

  • @redrot1 Scrued. Scrued. Scrued.

    It's screwed, you feeb.

  • never signed an NDA - never got paid for that week of insanity either, so good for him.

  • I'm not too familiar with Jehova's Witnesses, so what's up with the "watchtower" jokes?

  • @painlessissuicide the watchtower is this little magazine they publish i know they leave it behind if they get no answer at the door. the one i read was basically the whole jesus came to earth stuff.

  • 6:55 girl in blue not getin laid

  • Say what you will about Kev, the man sure is a great storyteller.

  • does kevin smith think that tim burton is a awesome director becuase i love both of them !!! :) also does kevin smith like johnny depp !!!! :)

  • my sister WORSHIPS PRINCE but even she detests under the cherry moon

  • Maybe Kevin Smith should purify himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka....

  • Why is his voice is a pitch higher?

  • @squirreljester2 He's 120 lbs lighter in this vid than he is now. Also, smoking 20 joints a day can rough up your layrynx (not poopooing pot) just saying...

  • JW or not, Prince is odd. I'm not sure why he would be trying to make an independent "recruitment film" ... it sure isn't some official video. Actually, I don't know of any official "recruitment films" either.

  • Too bad Prince didnt invite Kevin Smith to the KINGDOM HALL ....would love to have seen what Kevins reaction would have been to THAT ....

  • Kev's voice sounds higher here than anywhere else, has the pitch been changed?

  • Man that bitch is fat at 0.40.

  • I really want to see a response from Tim Burton LOL!!

  • Sehr gut!!!

  • i love the dogma reference at the end lmfao!!!!

  • *bing-bong* "Dearly beloved...would you like to buy a Watchtower?"

    LMAO!

  • what year was this...?

  • 2006

  • 2006 between and August 11, 2007.

  • If you ever want to make a JW run away, in stark terror, Just say your an APOSTATE (ah-Pos-state). Its makes them flee.

  • Not true at all most that I know love the chance to spread information and answer questions, to even those who renounce God altogether. If anything its persistence, not cowardice.

  • LOL - Everytime I watch this DVD it strikes me how much Jay resembles Anakin Skywalker from Ep3

  • ''Thats my latest film''

    OMG lol

  • I'm a lifelong Prince fan...Looked at tons of articles, read numerous books, listened 2 CDs, watched interviews with those that know him, attended concerts....Kevin is far from trashing Prince--He is exactly DEAD-ON how Prince is...Come on now, even casual fans have 2 have a clue about the cocoon-like world in which Prince exists...He's always been arrogant, aloof, & self-centered from day 1, it's just that nowadays at 50, some of his edges have smoothed out. And Under The Cherry Moon SUX!!!

  • best statement I've seen in a long time. I also love Prince's work, but people often think that you have to love the person behind the work. We dont know the person so a lot of the things, positiv and negativ, written on youtube is just a waste of space in my oppinion.

  • Yep very true comment. Been a fan since my 1st concert in 1980. OK, answer this, which was worse, Under the Cherry Moon or Graffitti Bridge..LOL!

  • @Tarantulisimo well said. im also a die hard prince fan. i live in minneapolis and used to work with one of his high school friends. he said prince has always been like that. he doesnt mean any harm, thats just the way he is. he's been an arrogant bastard from the jump. i like his music and everything, but i wouldnt want to hang out with him.

  • lol y do people argue religion on the internet, i will never understand.

he adjusts his glasses and intersperses his conversation with humor every 2 minute,s but he's got a 7 minute reply to every freaking question! it won't be tough to get an auto biography out of this guy

  • I don't see how this is disrespectful to Prince. Kevin Smith is just telling it like it is.

I am not a huge fan of Prince but I respect his talent and business acumen. However, that doesn't change the fact that he is a complete nutjob and a pain to work with.

  • indeed why give themselves a name?

i guess they just wanna have a classification

  • right...atheism is another "ism" you're damn right...and hey! i don't believe in god but still, i try to be respectfull, agree or desagree

  • how can you respect people who belive in jesus? would you respect people who believe in Harry Potter? lol

  • HAHAHAHAHA !!!!

    LOL!

  • @hcvang The difference being that Jesus existed. Harry Potter doesn't. ; ) God bless.

And yeah, I know that's trolling but hey, if you act like an asshole about something people can't change, why do YOU deserve respect? I wouldn't respect someone intolerant against religious beliefs any more than someone who was a racist or a homophobe. And much like Mr Smith, I'm Catholic. Think it through before you post this bollocks.

  • @Guest1001 Sure he does. Harry Potter exists the same way as "jesus" does - in a book. If you're referring to the old skeleton that was found, there is no proof of it being anyone named Jesus, José, Harry, Peter, Johnny or Louis.

  • @Guest1001 Actually, there is practically no evidence that anyone named Jesus of Nazereth ever existed, and even less that he was divine, came back from the dead, multiplied loaves or fishes, healed the sick or really did anything else other than say something that the Romans interpreted as sedition and get executed for it.

  • @Guest1001 Even if these few thin slivers of legitimacy to the Jesus myth are true, it doesn't make him any different from countless other religious crackpots that existed throughout the Roman empire at the time, and countless other wannabe rebels that they crucified. Religion isn't "something people can't change," I changed from being Christian 14 years ago. Religion is not like race, it is an ideology, and ideologies change.

  • @yerk3 I didn't come to get into a religious debate. I came to debate the morals of insulting the beliefs of others.

Taking the point about religion not being something people can change, does that mean you could start believing in God tomorrow? Of course it doesn't. You couldn't believe that was true any more than I could stop believing it was true. We couldn't believe or stop believing that any more than we can believe a triangle has four sides. Yet I don't insult your lack of beliefs.

  • @Guest1001 There is nothing immoral about "insulting" an idea just because some people believe in it. If someone believes that the earth is flat, should their belief be respected? Hell no. And nobody would raise an eyebrow if someone brutally pwned someone else's deeply held belief that the world was run by 12 Jews either. But religion somehow has this immunity, where no matter how irrational, hateful or wrong it is, nobody can question it without being called a bigot.

  • @Guest1001 Human beings should be respected. The crazy ideas they get into their heads, not so much. If you didn't want to get into a religious debate, you shouldn't have brought up religion.

As for a person's religious beliefs being beyond their control, what about other beliefs? If someone is a racist, should their racism be respected, because you yourself couldn't choose to start hating black people tomorrow?

  • Thou shalt not debate religion on the internet.

  • @raizumichin You new to the internet?

  • @DejectedPanda I know people keep doing it, but I still think it's a bad idea.

  • @raizumichin Depends on the forum I guess.

  • @DejectedPanda True, true, Youtube comments aren't really the best forum for any discussion.

  • @raizumichin So true. No matter where you stand, you will never win. (and neither will the person you are arguing with.)

  • It's logical basis is conformity and cult-like atmosphere and the political wiggle room it creates. ^__^

  • its kinda weird how people don't understand how much following the bible is like following a cult... A few examples come to mind.

    1. U follow a book of a person.

    2. U give ur money willing to support said person.

    3. There is a leader who tells u what is right and wrong.

    4. There is a symbol for which u usually carry.

If im wrong on any of these, please do tell.

  • You are 100% right my friend, its nice to know there still are people like you and the commenters above you that still know how to use the brains in there heads. Thank you.

  • @Grevener So much like atheism with Richard Dawkins.

    1. His book? The God Delusion.

    2. Giving money? The campaign to have atheism banners on London buses (and "the out campaign", which is disrespectful to homosexuality since there's no potential for rejection over being an "out" atheist).

    3. Leader? Dawkins.

    4. Symbol? The Out campaign symbol or Invisible Pink Unicorn logo.

On the other hand, I have nothing but respect for atheists mature enough to avoid being critical of religion.

  • @Guest1001

    1. was there a point there?

    2. how is using the term "out" disrespecting homosexuality? if your

stating your views or lifestyle is out of the the "norm" to the ppl u care

for in any sense..that term would be apropriate.

    3. Dawkins is a public figure in the athesist community more than a leader

    4. 1st : WHAT?!

2nd: so you like athesit who more or less keep their mouth shut

about what makes you uncomfertable. thats really insulting and not how the world works. deal w/ it.

  • @0Gimmick I was responding to someone else. Maybe you should read their post before judging mine.

    1. Yes.

    2. For the reasons I just said. Can't you read?

    3. Oh please ... more atheists follow his word than Catholics follow the Pope's.

    4. 1st, read it again.

2nd, no, I like anyone who respects the beliefs of others, no matter what their own beliefs are. I feel the same way about religious people who force their beliefs on others who I'm sure YOU bitch about regularly without "dealing w/ it".

  • @Guest1001 A lot of atheists like Dawkins because he happens to be correct about a lot of things, and is really good at articulating what a lot of us have been saying for years about religion, and has the science to back it up. It has nothing to do with dogma, nobody is worshipping him and some of us even disagree with him about somethings. For instance, I prefer Howard Bloom's theories about how humans evolved empathy to Dawkins' "selfish gene" theory.

  • @Guest1001 The Pope, however, must be followed, whatever he says. I've never seen a Catholic say "well, the Pope has a lot of good ideas, but I have to side with the Dalai Lama on the topic of Enlightenment. There is a big difference between "respect" and "never questioning." What you're asking for isn't respect, it's deference and subservience. Sorry, too many people died for the right to question your irrational superstitions for us to give it up just because you say so.

  • @Guest1001 Where are American atheists "forcing their beliefs" on anyone? If anyone is "forcing their beliefs" on anyone, it is you, wanting to promote your religion but never have it be questioned.

  • @Guest1001 The God Delision is one of many books that show the inherent inconsistencies and detrimental effects of religion, which the religious have traditionally kept under wraps, and which the non religious have been to timid to tackle out of your over-reaching concept of "respect." If respect means never questioning anything, no matter how obviously wrong, then I'm happy to be the impertinent bastard who subjects your precious dogmas to the cleansing light of reason.

  • @Guest1001 Actually, in a lot of places, there is a very distinct "potential for rejection over being an 'out' atheist." Namely in the South, or really in any fervently religious household. Also, can you imagine an atheist being president today? In order to be electable, all candidates basically have to at least throw in some lip service to some vague religious affiliation. Can you imagine the fit the Tea Party would throw if Obama were to admit that he was an atheist? They'd lose bowel control!

  • @Guest1001 I have been an atheist since I was 13, I'm 27 now, and I have never once seen the "invisible pink unicorn symbol." I don't even know what the "out campaign symbol" looks like. Mature people criticize things which are wrong. That's how people better themselves, by seeing what they're doing wrong. If someone is repeatedly doing or saying things which are flat out wrong, you aren't doing them any favors by keeping your mouth shut out of fear of hurting their feelings.

  • @yerk3 I'm going to try and sum up all of your comments in a single one so I'm sorry if this seems like a lot of non-sequiturs.

I'm glad I'm not so arrogant to think I'm a suitable judge of right and wrong. It's hypocritical for atheists like yourself and Dawkins to judge religious people who do the same when you do so yourself. Yes, I can imagine an atheist as President but can't imagine a Catholic comic like Frank Skinner being cheered for insulting atheism as so many atheist comics do.

  • @yerk3 Looks like I need a second post after all.

I'm in the UK so don't know about the Tea Party. I'm not saying my beliefs shouldn't be questioned in the slightest but don't think it should be up to people who don't care about causing offence to do it. Dawkins has got so much stuff wrong in The God Delusion that Alistair McGrath filled a book with the inaccuracies and his counter-argument (more politely than Dawkins' did) and Dawkins' response was to childishly insult his beliefs.

  • @yerk3 Hopefully this'll be the last one

It's very common for Catholics to go against the Pope's opinions and you mustn't know very many if you don't think any of them question it. That, along with your comment of me "forcing beliefs" upon you shows how fervently you cling to stereotypes rather than do your research so who are you to accuse me of forcing beliefs on anyone? All I ask is the same respect I show you and if you equate that to subservience then it speaks volumes about your pettiness

  • @Guest1001 When you demand the right to say something, then try to deny others the right to question it, then yes, you are asking to "force" your beliefs on people. Also known as having your cake and eating it too.

  • @yerk3 You're STILL going on about this? Alright ...

You're obviously just a troll because I specifically said that religion SHOULD be questioned. Read comments before throwing out random criticisms (and even if that were the case, it wouldn't be forcing anything on anyone. Not questioning something and forcing others into doing something are two completely different things).

  • @Guest1001 If religion should be questioned, then why are you accusing anyone who dares to question it of being a closed minded bigot?

  • @yerk3 Secondly, I didn't bring religion up. In case you didn't notice, the video you're posting on mentions religion. And yes, you should respect people no matter what their ideas. Are you so petty that you yell "no! I'm right!" like a child when faced with other ideas? So do you refuse to respect philosophers for having different ideas? Or even the mentally ill?

As for the "respecting racism" analogy, you tell me: you're the intolerant one out of the two of us.

  • @Guest1001 Pointing out to people when they are wrong is not "petty." Demanding that your beliefs never, ever be questioned is. If all people's ideas should be "respected," then would you respect Nazis? Flat Earthers? If there were people alive today who believed that the common cold was caused by witches using dried gypsy tears and hair cut from the head of a ginger at Midnight on All Soul's Eve, would you be inclined to "respect" their beliefs? Be honest now.

  • @Guest1001 Philosophies are judged on their merits, so if a philosophy is morally and logically sound, then I would respect it, but if it was horribly flawed and morally repugnant, then I would have no reason to respect it.

  • @BloodySerpent I forget who said it but someone said that Arguing evolution with a creationist is like a Master Chess Player playing chess against a Pigeon. The pigeon will Knock over the pieces, Crap on the board, Fly away and call it a victory.

  • @Mrkaine666 The pigeon won't call it anything, cause pigeons can't talk...

    Troll harder.

  • yeah, catholicism for the win, even though its the same fake god. whoop whoop, lets party!

  • john peters is a dumb dick...lol...he lives in the "bat cave " hahahahaha like he seems to know jack crap about comics..lol

well yah know what happens in Prince World stays in Prince World..lol

  • john peters. now that's a brilliant repetitive redundancy!

  • overrated

  • once a cult gets over 1 million people t is a religion, every religion is a wide spread popular cult, once a dude spilt the remains of a lamb, the whole human race went to crap

  • What the hell? Jehovah's Witnesses don't sell anything. They're not sales people, the're preachers. Anyways, I guess this is a prime example of Celebrities and Religion not mixing in a positive light.

  • They sell a religion in which you attend a church to which you pay a weekly fee at collection. It's the gift that keeps on giving

  • Wow dude you are WAY OFF. JWs do not sell a religion. They DO NOT charge anything, No weekly fee or nothing. Unlike most religions, money is not something that is sought after here. In fact, that's one way you can identify hypocrites in the form of Christians, they charge you for their teachings / sermons. Where are you getting your info? You're just so off that I am positive you made that comment out of ignorance and assumptions. Can't blame you though, still, research before commenting.

  • What do you think the church does with those collections? Gives them to the poor? Joseph Smith was a lying, cheating businessman. He was no different than L. Ron Hubbard.

  • Agreed but what do those guys have to do with JWs? I think you're confused here? Anyways, for those out there that believe in the "Bible" there is no competition. It's pretty much a joke to compare any other Christian religion to JWs. JWs actually get their knowledge from the Bible as opposed to making it up and saying what people want to hear. Just stop it. It's not even worth arguing over. It's like if "Tyson fought an infant."

  • your way off man.they are pretty much the only christian religion that doesnt have a manditory collection.just because all other christian religions do doesnt mean that JWs do

  • haha i like kevin

  • lemme just say, idky Jersey Girl was so...ragged on.

i LOVED Jersey Girl. anyone else.

  • Jersey girl was the shit.

  • Absolutely!

  • man, why is everyone so angry here?

anyway, i love kevin smith's commentaries and interviews.

he seems so great at talking to big crowds.

  • you ever notice how all the people in the title worked on batman ?

  • And how that Batman movie SUCKED ?

  • no just how they all worked on batman

  • If you don't "get" the genius behind Clerks, you are either uptight or have no sense of humor. Or both. Take a valium and go back to mom's basement.

  • Yeah. He knows. Congratulations for bitching in the Internet. You succeed in life.

  • man he interacts with people, he is sociable and its a proof that he love his fans so fuck you man, you dont like him, dont watch his stuff

  • How does a man glorfy himself so much in this world just because he's a "Popular" singer? Prince then goes about losing all shared reality, not that he was ever really there.

The only way he made "sales" on his last two cds were through trickery. Maybe that's why he hasn't put an album out this year because he can't figure out the angle?

Oh well, I wish the little man well. God only knows what it could have been, but that's not enough to make me care anymore.

  • hey Jehovah's Witnesses aren't supposed to sell the Watchtower.... *sigh* wel hope Kevin doesn't hate the witnesses out of princes.

Still Kevin is always a damn good story teller

  • Where does this talk take place?

  • Hahaha this video had me in stitches-Kevin you are hilarious!

  • wait, prince is a fucking jehovahs witness?????

  • Yep, I don't think I've been much of a fan of his since either...now if only I could afford to get his symbol off my ankle!

    Kevin, you rock it!

  • NOT DONE

  • on thee top always i never seen black people playing powermetal or death melotic metal

  • the lead singer of Killswitch is black..

  • Tom Arya is Chilean.

  • slayer is neither powermetal, or melodic death metal so that was useless same with the talk or killswitch, the ice t comment, hope i'm missing something.

  • I'm a Prince fan, but I can't say I'd ever want to meet him. Sounds like a pain in the arse.

  • You have to be weird to get to the top.

Most "normal" people break under the pressure of stardom. Or become "weird" in the process.

  • Kinda sounds like what Harvey Dent says on the Dark Knight Trailer...

You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villian or w/e lol

  • I can state Kevin is for real. Prince is not funked in the head he's fucked. He'd never make it in the real world. That's why he never leaves PRINCEVILLE.

  • and its people like Cyrus with extremely bad taste who are the reason why crap like Fall Out Boy and every black guy with a mic are on top of the charts

  • kevin rocks but being a woman and a prince fan for 24 years I would still f*** prince first.

  • I love hearing about Prince! He is so cool. He seems to live in his own creative world and does what the f*** he wants, when he wants and how he wants! Prince is one of the people who greatly inspires me - Not just by his genius musical and performing talent, but by the way he controls his world! "Whats said in Prince world, stays in Prince world" - Great stuff!

  • thundergod must be a prince fan

  • Stop arguing you bunch of little bitches. What the fuck is wrong with all of you? Great clip, Kevin Smith is a fucking legend.

  • i think i posted before but I love this clip. frickin prince.... oh well.

  • hes holarious!!!

  • What was the racial comment? Whos growing where? Sexual losers? Looks like they are wining to me.

  • you suck kevin smith is a genius you loser

  • Kevs recruitment movie for catholicism was awesome. Too bad so many ppl, including some officals don't understand it.

  • Kevin Smith showed me that John Peters is such a pimp.

  • These stories are hilarious, but are they true? I know he says they are, but they're so crazy!

  • yup. you know where he talks about protesting against dogma?

you can find the clip from the news channel who was there on youtube.

  • Yeah, well Smith admits of being a media whore. He'll do pretty much anything to get his name on print. So using that as an offensive remark is useless. And with that your whole post is just that: Useless. Just like you. Merry christmas. Tard.

  • Come on, his argument has total merit. It's not like kevin smith has made several successful, critically acclaimed films, and helped set a standard for actually GOOD INDEPENDENT FILMS. Oh shit, he has done all of those things. Damn. See what I did there?

  • "fat white loser"? what's him being white have to do with anything? would you like him more if he was black? give it up. you wouldn't be where you are now if it weren't for white people.

  • this coming from the guy who hates gay people ?

  • what the fuck are you talking about, i dont have anything against gays

  • on the comic con vid you called me a cocksucking asshole even though i'm not gay

  • you two should get together some time.

  • who should ?
