  • U'r hot.

  • **Some schools of feminism submit to gender binaries - not ALL schools of feminism. I don't think you can classify one aspect of feminist thought as a weakness to the whole movement!

  • u look great! so natural...

  • As for the male rape victim I have no idea what kind of support a man would want after something like that. There should be centers for male rape victims to deal with their unique needs. Just like a lot of women don't feel comfortable around men after they have been raped, would an emasculated man want to be comforted by woman or would that just further emasculate him. IDK these are questions that need to be asked and some times the genders do need to be separated.

  • @MrShcotty2010 l'm a lesbian you idiot!

  • @blickblocks bitch now its -5 @MrShcotty2010 and +9000 for blickblocks

  • The whole idea of gender casting is going the way of the do-do, but some people hang on to stereotypes for dear life.

This video reminds me of the Depeche Mode song "People Are People". The opening line is, "people are people so why should it be, you and I should get along so awfully?"

We're all human beings first, right? Female or male is just a detail.

  • @TheMarksmenCat sex: m/f. f = female. female in this instance is a biological term referring to what physical body you have. nothing to do with being a women or not. at all. this person is a transWOMEN. therefore, is a woman.

  • There are certain things feminism should get involve in i.e. helping to educate Africans of the danger or FGM and other things they shouldn't get involved in. They can divide instead of unite and solve the issue. Rape centers should be for rape victims no matter their sex.

    Cheers Christine

    P.S. you are beautiful

  • Bitch, u better werk. I love it. #iidentifyasgenderqueer I FUCKIN LOVE IT MAH!!! U BETTER WEKRRK!!!!!

  • I haven't read the book, but Adrienne Rich wrote "Of Woman Born," which is about the institution of motherhood. It seems to be a pretty clear example of "Woman Born" as a feminist acknowledgment of being born from a woman.

Oh and off topic, but unsolicited passing advice = fail. Unsolicited passing advice to someone who IDs as genderqueer even moreso.

  • "Womyn born womyn". As I understand, this is the original term which gives away it's roots as a feminist term.

When I saw Erin's video, I shot off an email to the Vancouver Women's Health Cooperative to try to get a clarification on their anti-transwoman stance. I was curious about not only MTF's but also FTM's. Of course, no response.

However, after a little research into the term, I understand why I received no response. Their position is absolutist and ideological.

  • Could the pharmacies be doing this because of the underlying health issues dealing with women born women? Their staff is tailored to these women and these women only. It may have nothing to do with discrimination.

As for the rape centers: they need to make a female rape center and a male rape center. Put yourself in those shoes, if you were raped, would you want to be seeking him from the gender that raped you? No.

  • "Their staff is tailored to these women and these women only."

Trans women-specific health concerns are no different than those of post menopausal women or those with PCOS. Besides, this is a pharmacy, not a doctor's office. They are there to dispense drugs and offer clarification on medicine when needed. It's not as if they are prescribing anything.

"they need to make a female rape center and a male rape center"

There are many rape crisis centers that cater to everyone.

  • "if you were raped, would you want to be seeking him from the gender that raped you? "

I assume you mean to say "seeking help", not "seeking him". Anyways, a rape crisis center helping men as well as women doesn't mean that women would be given a male counselor or men a female counselor. You're assuming a center wouldn't be sensitive towards this end. Plenty of non-discriminatory rape crisis centers are fully capable of meeting everyone's needs.

  • My bigger issue with your statement:

    "the gender that raped you"

I wasn't aware gender could rape anyone.

  • Also, if rape crisis centers are segregated...which one do trans men, women and gender queer people go to? Ah, yes, they aren't allowed in either.

  • @blickblocks to the police or the hospital I guess, this is one center isn't it??

  • you of course are making the assumption that women are only and/or always raped by men, which is not universally the case.

  • This goes into a general "discrimination" category. One can probably make it into an entire college course study based on such a concept.

In a very brief observation, social norms becomes the moving force that discerns the actions of discrimination, that is what is not percieved as normal becomes noticed and is responded to, however the response in itself depends again on past reactions.

  • You need voice work. I agree with what you said about the feminism stuff.

  • Fuck off.

  • In what universe do you live in that you feel entitled to criticize people's voices?

  • Who are you to think you're perfect? I've seen people Pre-HRT or in early stages of transition with a more passable voice than you have in this video. You don't have to listen to my advice - it isn't hurting me any - all it's doing is hurting yourself.

  • Clearly what you did wrong just went right over your head. It's rude to judge people. It was rude what you posted as a comment. You're not a friend, and this video is not about my voice. Therefore you are not entitled to voice your opinion in that manner without me telling you to "fuck off".

By the way, just for your own clarification, HRT doesn't change transwomen's voices. Also, if you knew me at all you'd know I don't really care about it much. I'm genderqueer.

  • It's not rude. It's the truth. and you are being totally uncalled for by telling me to fuck off. I was trying to help you. -.- I'm sorry if you have a chip on your shoulder that looks to take offense at every little thing. And yeah, I said Unlike me your voice won't change on HRT. It was in an earlier reply. Transwomen have to train it. If you're not willing to put the work in to make it sound good, You can be as gender queer as you want, but it's laziness and should be pitied.

  • I have a chip on my shoulder? How ironic. Why is it that other trans people feel entitled to criticize others? As if being trans gets you an all access pass. "Hey you, you're fat! You need to work on that!" "Hey you have a whisker on your face! Get that lasered off you lazy fuck!"

  • @blickblocks your voice sounds perfectly natural, exactly like most of my genetically female friends. I have no idea what that person is talking about. Most trans women seem to over train their voice and sound nasally and weird but your voice is great :)

  • so really it should be spelt with a hyphen: women-born women

  • Thank you for the add!!

    Hugs*;-)

  • Instead, after thinking about it, I take my last comment back; any relationship bound to have ups and downs.. but you have chosen a difficult road, indeed... wish I could help... don't give up on your dream...There might be a way that you could have children with spouse someday, though the procedure would envolve 3 different sources of germinal structures and about...100k + ... Then that would be really cool... Take care.

  • Dear Mina,

You have broken the boundaries of gender so seamlessly that it is nothing short of amazing; how did you become so hot? I am straight guy, but If i met you at a party or something I would definitely ask you out. Being 1 year into medical school, I learnt that gender is an illusion... and you really underscore that point. But the question is... is it ethical to put a someone under such a spell; what happens if he were to fall in love, then what would you do. That might be cruel...

  • I didn't even finish this video and not because it's not interesting. You just shocked the hell out of me.

I'm a male survivor of childhood rape and I didn't know that a quarter of men were raped. Where did you get this information? I'd like to read more about this.

Welcome back as well. I hope you're feeling better. :)

  • That's 1/4 of rape survivors are men, not 1.4 of all men are rape survivors. It's about 100,000 men per year in the US. Statistics are from various sources, but you can check my accuracy in "Fraternity Gang Rape" (yeah...that title pushes buttons).

  • Thanks Mina,

I went to RAINN and got these numbers:

1 in 33 or 3 percent of American men were raped.

In '03, 1 in every 10 rape victims were male.

2.78 million men in the U.S. have been victims of sexual assault or rape compared to 17.7 million women.

These numbers are only based off of the ones who reported the crimes.

    WoW.

Thank you once again for bringing this up.

  • Thanks for the info. Statistics are always a bit tricky because there is usually a bit of fine print.

  • They also seem to be very old and not kept up to date. Furthermore, why is there multiple sources for statistics?

I'm just glad you discussed the male factor in being rape victims.

Making the mind think is a good thing. :)

  • Hey mina! It's been such a long time since you last posted, i had got worried you'd vanished, cycling away into the melty distance of the sunset! So glad that you're no longer AWOL, I thought I'd never get to see one of your videos or your beautiful self and interesting topics again! *sniff*

The whole womyn born womyn thing is such a load of crap and I'm shocked that so many people are so dim and superstitious as to believe in nothing but binaries, even in the face of medical evidence. You rock

  • What a sweet comment...I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching! I'll try to post again more regularly...I had to stop for a while because I was just too depressed.

  • I'm really sorry to hear that. I know what it's like to get too depressed to update. I really love seeing your updates, they make me smile ^_^ lots of love from england, stay beautiful, keep on riding! xxx

  • you rock!

  • Who said I couldn't figure out what sex I am?

I'm not looking for someone to say it's ok, I'm trying to educate people like you who think they know what is best when they have NO idea what it's like to have gender dysphoria, don't even care to do their research, but still feel entitled to judge others.

  • I think you have a lot of nerve to post comments on my video, speak nothing of what the video is about, but rather make judgements about who and what I am.

To what question do you suggest I pray for an answer?

  • Don't waste your time Mina. This person's opinion flies in the face of medical science, and it is blatantly obvious that this person is a troll...and not a very bright one at that. The mention of God as an answer confirms it as such. Things are "black and white" yet they promote an unprovable being. Comical and dimwitted. Translation: "I am to stupid or lazy to do any sort of research."

  • I know I know...I waste my time.

    <3

  • Same :)

  • There are misstakes in life. Chemicals , drugs extra. Its very sad when that happen's. Still even if your born with both genders only one works. Also all the mistakes like that during birth is all man made. I do feel sorry for people born with problems. But when it comes to being a boy or girls its simple. You have testicals that work or Overys that work. Never both. If they both dont work sorry but i guess sex wouldnt be a disscution now would it.

  • It has nothing to do with birth, its the development of the fetus. What do you mean that it is a "man made" issue? Lots of people have reproductive bits that don't work. What do you mean by "sex wouldn't be a discussion"?

  • @Gwar2005 Of course. Ppl are nothing more than breeding machines, and if you can't reproduce you shouldn't dare to have sex for the pleasure of it or connection with your partner. You should only have sex when you're ready to have kids, then only have sex enough times to have kids, and when you're not fertile anymore or don't want any more kids, you just stop having sex and go on having no physical intimacy with the person you chose to share your life with. What a healthy way of handling life!

  • What a bleak outlook on life! Nothing is ever black and white...life is nuanced. Some people have different external bits ("intersexed"), some people have different internal bits ("transgender"). There is a point in the womb where the mother's body has to either let the fetus develop female, or wash it in testosterone to masculinize it. That happens in various degrees. I highly suggest you read up on what evolutionary anthropologists are discovering about sex and gender.

  • I have been persuaded to change my opinion. Yes, when i heard this i was all like "let em be, let em live, each it own, give em the pharmacy"...I am proud of being a trans woman, and no different, no less. But I have realized the issue was bigger than my pride for being a transwoman.

I started to think, " yes, who will be enforcing the gender spectrum or feminity factor in service?". And at that moment i was convinced. Where are the suicide bombers when you need them? (Joking Joking)

  • Blablablabla!

  • Youtube vlogging! WOW

  • Thanks dude!

  • As a 'straight' woman I personally see you as a woman. I agree that compulsory gender is wrong. I look forward to the day when all Americans are respected for the person they are and not their gender, race, etc. I think that the lack of resources for male victims of sexual assault is awful and goes back to sexism (even for women). the role of sexual assault victim in our culture has been assigned to women and the backlash against male victims is related to discrimination against LGBT persons

  • I remember in MacBeth, the witches told him "none of woman born shall kill MacBeth", and he ended up being killed by MacDuff, who had been born by caesarian section. So does that mean these places are banning any women who were born by c-section?

  • You look so feminine and your voice's pitch has improved very much!

  • omg this is such a good video. i totally agree

  • Ooh ---- Blooper reels ---- Not often seen on YouTube. :P

  • The reverse of that statistic is that 75% of all rapes are of women...

  • I think pretty much everyone is aware that most rape survivors are women, my point about 25% being men was that most of the support systems are exclusively for women (to the point of excluding trans men and women as well).

  • Oh the rest of my comment disappeared..I followed up with ...but I understand what your saying and can see the need for equal support or something like that. Rock on!

  • Women are becoming equal to men finally in the area of bigotry.

  • Humans have a tendency towards bigotry, it seems.

  • I find the entire "Radical" feminist movement comical and extremely contradictory.

  • Very contradictory. It's unfortunate that this form of feminism is all that feminism seems to be associated with. At least, among my family. They ask me, "how can you identify as a feminist? They hate men!" I say, "I don't hate men, and that hating men is ANTIFEMINIST!" They don't believe me. :(

  • Tell a hardcore feminist that men can be feminist too. Hilarity will ensue. The movement was started to create equal rights between sexes not the exclusion of one another other.

  • Hey Mina,

Nicely done! I think you did a lot better actually speaking to the issue than i did. I had just been steaming about it on my bike ride home and ended up just ranting at the camera for 8 minutes and then just cut the parts out that I could use...

Anyway, nice, as always, to see a video from you.

    Best,

    ~Erin

  • Crazy! Fucked up! :)

Thanks for posting your video, and thanks for watching mine! I didn't leave a comment because I figured a video response would convey my thoughts better...

  • What you said about compulsory gender was very well put! Your blooper at the end felt familiar, it takes me hours to do my videos sometimes :p Also that's an interesting statistic about rape victims, I'll remember that one.

  • I don't really know why people fail to acknowledge that statistic.

  • I don't really understand your point about "women born from women". Are you saying the phrase should be reclaimed as such?

  • I don't really have a point about that. I'm simply noting that the term used to have a different meaning.

  • Okay, fair enough. good video, by the way.

  • As usual, Very insightful ;]

  • no, youre a dood

  • No to what? There's 3 minutes of statements in this video. Please clarify.

Also, what is a "dood"? Is that Portuguese?

    Thanks for watching!

  • LOL

    you pwn as usuall. XP

Gender is just an observation of traits, thus if someone, shows characteristics of a gender, and identifies as that gender. Why deny that gender?

  • You rock Mina. Nice to see a new video from you!

  • Thanks for watching! I always feel a little bad that I might be letting people down on here by not posting. It's like being antisocial but on the internet...

  • Well, you just posted something, and I don't feel like i've been let down ;)

  • Please don't feel bad, I can't even begin to thank you enough for posting your videos. You truly are an inspiration.
