As a Gophers fan, I hate Iowa football, but I strangely LOVE Iowa basketball! I must be wistful from watching so many MN v IA games at the Barn back in the days of Clem and Dr. Tom. I was heartbroken when you couldn't pull out the win vs. Michigan recently, whom I hate more than any other team that could ever exist. I was singing fight, fight, fight for Iowa but the boys couldn't pull it off. I need it to be MN and IA at the top of the big 10. Ohio State can die.
It was fun to watch you guys humiliate Sparty. That and all the pitiful wins is why they're not going to the BCS. It was like watching a video game beatdown on NCAA 2011 Heisman level. I only have one question. How in hells bells could you lose to Suckasota? It's not like Maroney and Barber are still their running backs. But anyway after watching my Tide lose two of their last three and the archrival go to #1 I'll sit out the bowl season. My Dukies in basketball are #1. Good luck.

I'm afraid that in a short time, we'll have to either join the Big 10 or the Pac 10--the Pac 10 would be the same deal 8 west and 8 east. Don't like either one. Good luck beating the Huskers. Years ago, the Big Eight Conference went to court and secured the rights to all the conference names: Big 9 Big XI, Big XII, and on and that's why the Big 10 cannot change to B 11 or B 13.
I think the Big 12 is fine, Notre Dame needs to get their heads out of their but and just join the Big 10. While i think Missouri is a good fit, it still seems wierd, i mean they were in the orginal big 8 and i like that link to the past. kraken, here in kansas, we feel lucky to still have a conference. I'm afraid that in a short time, we'll have to either join the Big 10 or the Pac 10--the Pac 10 would be the same deal 8 west and 8 east. Don't like either one. Good luck beating the Huskers. Iowa should have the upper hand on them for the next few years at least.

@kilgatron Sorry Kilgatron, the Huskers will probably beat the hawks. I will say though they have a great team and Clayborn is a beast. Nothing but respect for the Hawks. Hopefully the rock chalks and mizzou will quit sucking bevo's u know what and join the big 10

bruno, we should probably move to an NU or a KU comment thread--still if MU wants out, let 'em. To me, Arkansas would be a great addition to the north. Then push out ISU and add Colorado State or Texas Christian. That's just me.

Except that the Big 10 is about the cold, toughness, the three yard gain. I would argue that Soldier Field would be a better place, unless it's as cold and snowy as it has been here in Kansas the past month! Plus, a trip to Chicago. Is there any talk of splitting into east and west divisions?

I accidentally hit the thumbs down!! OOPS! Here's what I'd like the Big XII to do: dump misery and ISU-too far for them and texas schools. Bring in OU and Arkansas in the north. Then, Bring in TCU in the South. That would be one bad A league. Something you might not know:
Years ago, the Big Eight Conference went to court and secured the rights to all the conference names: Big 9 Big XI, Big XII, and on and that's why the Big 10 cannot change to B 11 or B 13.

I think the Big 12 is fine, Notre Dame needs to get their heads out of their but and just join the Big 10. While i think Missouri is a good fit, it still seems wierd, i mean they were in the orginal big 8 and i like that link to the past. In fact i wish the big 8 would return, but of course money dictates everything, and now the Texas schools dominate, and everyone is just out for themselves in the conference rather than acting like a group like the big 10 or pac 10

i love the hawks just as much as anyother eastern Iowan but lets face it people putt to much emphisis on the iowa iowa state game i meen when u putt it all together its not that big of a deal iowa states like the worst team in the big 12 and iowa has harder teams to face then them yet many people only care about that game. If all you care about is the Iowa/ Iowa State game then your not a real fan because its not the only game of the year

it may not be the "hardest" game of the year...but its a rivalry game. its for bragging rights in the state. They are historically good games and have awesome atmosphere. As a iowa fan I know that there are bigger fish to fry like penn st and OSU but the iowa state game is still the most important. If you lose then its something in the back of your mind for the rest of the year
