@anglerfly The glockenspiel worked in 2007 when i went. I didn't bring back any recordings though. They really need to take better care of their organ!
@M38Ruth You and a couple of other respondents seem to know a thing or two about this organ. I was at Hershey last week with my family and I can't get it out of my head. They had it playing Christmas music for the Candy Cane Lane attraction. I wish there was a recording available of it playing those songs! I want to know everything I can about the Wurlitzer 153. What's the best resource?
Incase your wondering how it works, it plays off of a paper roll (the 150 roll) and has 41 keys. The organ has 3 wooden trombones; 3 8-foot stopped diapason; 3 4-foot open diapason; 3 2-foot stopped diapason. Accompaniment: 9 stopped flute pipes; 18 violin pipes. 16 stopped flute pipes; 16 octave violin; 15 wooden trumpets; 15 cello pipes; 32 violin; 15 open flutes; 15 stopped pipes; and 16 bell bars. The organ also has a bass drum, cymbal and snare.
@Grim0523 I want to know everything I can about it to. I posted some videos of it when it was skipping notes, out of tune and the orchestral bells broke down!
Definitely one of the most beautiful machines ever created! Hershey unknowingly saved it from sever damage & possible destruction. It was moved up from beside the creek just prior to hurricane agnes in "72 which flooded most of the susquehanna valley & would have left this beauty totally submerged!
It is so sad the organ sounds terrible now!
you should change on your website that it sounds Fair. It sounds worse than the Wurlitzer 125 / 153 at merry go round museum.

@anglerfly The organ came from another carousel. Hershey got it separate from the ride.

@M38Ruth Did anyone make a CD of this organ?!?
Why is it so low pitched? I thought they said its 125 melody, but it plays 150 rolls!

I had more than a few rides on that when I was a kid. Glad to see it still going.

A beautiful carousel, well maintained except for some of the lights being unlit.
Organ sounds pretty good. Songs are: "Forever," "Wedding Bells Are Breaking Up That Old Gang Of Mine," and "Dardanella."
