  • I also bought the pic disc at the time and still totally blows me away, still play it loads! It just came and went and I never found out anything about them. 1995 wasn't a bad year, but this just really totally stood out. PLAY LOUD!

  • i have the vinyl and loved it soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!

  • Ha! I loved this when it got played on the Evening Session...

  • Is 'year of days' on line anywhere? Would like to hear it.

  • Absolutely loved this when I was 16. One of the great songs of my youth. Thanks very much for posting.

  • Thanks for the kind and positive comments. Embassy were dropped by their label late 1996. The album rejected and only two picture disc releases 'Halo' and 'Box Star AM'. It's nice to know we're still remembered as brief as it was! you can hear the 'rough cut' album tracks at myspace/embassy1996 The original line up later reformed in 2003 as The Storm Tapes... also on myspace.

  • @stevewelch99 Ace, thanks Steve! Love the bass drum on the riffy bit at the end of Box Star AM by the way!

What's everyone in the band up to these days? 'Normal' jobs or still in music?

  • blimey i've got this 7 inch in the garage. great to shout to in the car...if you've got a record player in the car

  • By the way, the only other thing I remember from reading the NME way back then, is that they were from Beckenham(?) in Kent, and I *think* their singer was called Danny. There doesn't seem to be anything about them on the internet at all. Someone who knows something should start a Wikipedia page!

  • The B-side of this ('Year of days') is amazing too. Surely the most underrated band ever! This single is still available to buy on the internet if you look hard enough, but beware, there's another band called Embassy who do horrible emo-rock, so avoid them!

If anyone knows whatever happened to this Embassy, I'd be really interested to know - they've been a mystery in my life for 15 years and I'd love to know if they did ever release anything else, or go on to form other bands etc.

  • I'm sorry it cuts off abruptly at the end.....i'll try and rectify it or just upload it again if need be.

  • Thank you so much!! I've also been looking for this for years. Taped it off the Evening Session when it came out. Spent hours in the attic a few months ago rooting for the tape to no avail. I still remembered the melody and some of the lyrics even though I hadn't heard it in well over a decade. It's a GREAT track and a serious cut above most of the Britpop stuff that was out at the time. Who are Embassy? What ever happened to them? Do they have anything else???

  • @DannyWhitten I also recorded this from the evening session! All I know about them is that they were second support to Menswear and Heavy Stereo at a UK gig, can't even remember if i saw it or not. This single was only released on 7" and as far as I know they never released anything else.

  • @nickhuggett

Nice one Nick. Menswe@r and Heavy Stereo......christ....this is way better than anything they ever recorded! A bit ahead of their time, I think. If this had come out in the 2000s they'd probably have been hailed as the next Interpol or something, as opposed to being completely ignored....

  • I have been looking for this for years! Many thanks for uploading. Any idea whatever happened to Embassy? This was a great single.
