I would expect that your ladies will be fine because of all the lights. But I certainly understand you desire not to contact the landlord. He would make arrangements with a possible less than understand repair person. As a former landlord and renter, may I suggest that you add a clause on your next lease that you can contact an approved repairman and make arrangements. Then the landlord would credit you on your rent based on the 3/4 the amount on repair receipt.
