I guess this is the one of few anime I would consider buying the DVD, simply because I can't figure out the right episode order to watch it in!!! Great idea to mix up the order of the eps to make people buy the DVD :P

Actually, to be honest, I'd recomend watching it in the broadcast order before watching it in the regular order. It gives you a sense of mystery while watching the series that you won't get watching it in normal order. After you finished it once, go ahead and watch it in regular order. It's totally worth it. I still stand by my comment from 3 months ago.

Broadcast order is "Kyon's order" on Wikipedia. If you followed that, and was confused, don't worry. It's more of an analytical type of watching it. Watching it in "Haruhi's order" is the chronological order of the series.
