The subwoofer has zero resistance because it's not installed in the enclosure properly. I don't care what you say or think, the speaker needs resistance, it has zero tolerance for no resistance.

@kruczek21 the only difference is that it makes more room for the inside of the box, this means that the bass will be deeper, you can try it, if you don't notice any difference you can leave it or change it back.

@kruczek21 Yeah, sure. I have both of my subs set up that way at the moment and they're doing fine. Let me know how it goes. It will work in a sealed box as well as a ported. As I said, it's just a little trick to increase the internal air volume of the box, thus creating a deeper sound.

I dont know how people blow up new (relatively) shit. I have 2x 10" JBL's that ive owned for well over 10 years now and they are still going strong. Spend some time with tuning and adjusting your gains and they will last for ages.

If people knew anything about sound systems and subwoofers, they would know that bass is non-directional so it really wouldn't matter where they place it in the trunk. most people place it firing backwards because they feel that they get better sound.

Have you taken into consideration this video was made to show the woofer being destroyed? If you haven't considered the idea, these guys are probably using an amplifier capable of running more power than the sub can handle, and cranked the gain and bass boost (or clipped the signal) to get this effect.

The aim is to get a amp with a higher RMS rating than your sub, but with a lower output power than your subs for example

You have a 2000W peak sub with 750W RMS

you can pwer it with a 1800W amp that gives 900WRMS

the rms is higher but output is lower! that way you get full power without damaging the voice coil

subs project their sounds like spheres. they penetrate through boxes easily. it doesnt matter which way its facing. know what your talking about before you hate

not to troll or anything, but that is partially correct. They don't really penetrate the box much, but you still have the other side of the cone that produces sound, and also the port. It sounds about the same either way, but if you mount the sub backwards like the guy did in the video, you essentially get a bigger airspace because the sub isn't displacing air in the box.
