  • Great tutorial mate. Nice and easy to follow. Although I kinda knew that much, you did teach me some neat shortcuts. I didnt know you could right click the mixer for example.

Are you planning on doing something similar for the sequencer? I'm tearing my hair out trying to get my drums to kick in when I want them too. Everything seems to just play all at once.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for the Tutorial! it was of great help to me.

  • Excellent help!! Thk y!

  • very good video for beginners well done!

IVE GOT THE BEST TRANCE REMADE IN REASON BRAND NEW UPLOAD WITH DOWNLOAD.

  • I don't have that 'audio out' bar, can you help?

  • @Dexstasy There SHOULD be a bar that says when you shrink it (by clicking the arrow on the right side of it) 'REASON Hardware Device' and you right-click on that instead.

  • This was the first reason tut i watched, Very easy to understand. A+ and thanks a ton

    /watch?v=V1XR1eNFj3w

  • Ok. I know how to create a drum beat. Now how do I put that drumbeat into the "playing zone" ?

  • wondering if you can help? iv followed the steps, made a few patterns and drawn 3 different sound bars on the sequencer. for some reason when i press play the beat selected above on the redrum kit just continues to play continiously (not switching between the different patterns). whats gone wrong? i noticed the sound bars wernt labelled with numbers (eg A2) and had no lines on the to separate bars. just blank boxes. PLEASE HELP!!!

  • very informative i must say! but how do u use other stuff like the thor n things like that.

  • Would this work on the demo or just the paid version?

  • Thanks for your clear instructions, this gave me a lot of AHA! moments and freed me to start experimenting with Reason

  • Great tutorial! thanks! It's almost interactive!

  • Thanks for the video, really useful and clear.

  • excellent vid. Thanks!

  • thank you!!

  • Awesome vid, man. Thanks for making it. You taught me the bare basics in 10 minutes.

  • Great video!

I have Reason 5 and I am not able to see anything inside the Reason Factory Soundbank and I tried searching for the patches on my computer with no luck. The Soundbank folder itself is 599 mb so I'm sure they're in there, just don't know how to access them. :(

  • @blindchicken2001

basically, right click redrum, then choose 'browse samples'. They are now visable.

  • thanks, this is very useful!

  • can i plug my guitar direct to sound card with reason pro ???????? plz

  • @fetallica1 hey:P if you buy a mixer(dont have to be a realy expensive one:)) you can plug youre guitar in the microphone in on the mixer and then you use amp on the mixer as aux and set it on mic in youre computer;)

    watch?v=cOL2yMFUL-w

  • Don't listen to that twat, your model for making tutorials is great and I thank you for your help !

  • can you put songs you create on reason onto a br-900? or vice versa? put recorded guitars on a br-900 onto the reason program and mix synths with guitars?

  • Very helpful. Are you planning on making any more videos?

    Thanks.

  • Better than sex or crack? Better than sex PLUS crack. Thanks, this tutorial helped a lot.

  • @hankevans83

Are you about 13 years old? This guy/girl has spent time to make a tutorial for people who need it and you dont even rate the guy for just doing that? Seriously buddy go and take your shit somewhere else. Thanks for the good TUT mate.

  • Thanks for the tutorial... If you go to Billboardwav they got some sick ass sound banks. i just caught on to it so im spreading the wealth! Ive got about 4 banks from them already.

  • Nice tutorial dude, very easy to follow. Thanks.

  • @yankeeman444

Note that this is a 2 year-old video, and I stated in the description that the OS and version I used might correspond with whatever you are using. Your ineptitude at browsing files on your computer isn't my problem. Sorry.

  • @lemoonad3 hes not the only one whos bass folder is empty. did you register your product? it says you get more samples and junk if you do, so maybe thats our problem?

  • @hankevans83

Primarily, I didn't want to waste time saying "gee, um, I'll just do this okay now wait, um, okay, oops". I secondly used text so that people could pause the video, switch over to Reason, input data, and then switch back to the video without feeling like they missed something. Finally, I made the video for people who are not complete imbeciles (eg. people who don't wet their diapers when they are forced to read a sentence). Hope that clarifies things for you, thanks.

  • @lemoonad3 I for one appreciate your time and your efforts in making this tutorial vid. Some people, even when they make vids, they talk about BS nonsense, and at least, you are very comprehensive and explanatory in your text in these videos. BadAss Bro! That other dude is just a lazy douche`. I'll be checkin' out more of your vids, with an honest attempt at trying to learn. And I will let you know if I have any "valid" questions.

  • @lemoonad3 Not to be a dick, but you should have used ie., eg. means for example, ie. means that is.

  • @hankevans83 You fucking wanker!! if you don't like to read then FUCK OFF!!

  • @NetinMaster ermmmmm? CUNT!

  • @hankevans83 atleast he took the time to make a video

  • excellent - got that sorted thank you!

  • Great tutorial man!!!

  • my bassdrum folder is empty :S

  • @MrPindakaasAlien so is mine! Whats going on?

  • @MrPindakaasAlien are u clicking the folder next to the channel number and not the folder in the bottom left??

  • Dude, thanks sooo much!!! helped alooot! made a BA sample, oh and ur first sample IS better than sex and crack ttly true. lol

  • thanks brother, great help

  • cheers for the help buddy i love you too

  • Great! Thanks! Perfect to start with the app.

  • i only watched 21sec and my Q was answered, so thank you... after watching the rest i will get up in the morning, Put on my pants and make gold Records. underground hip hop!!!(+)(+)is the best. all the rest is fake music from Fake people...ps game on..

  • you think any music that isnt underground hip hop is fake??? yet your not using real instruments to create music?

  • i'd like to hear your definition of a 'real instrument'

  • i tried but there's no sound. how come?

  • @PureWillpower1

i have the same problem lmao, just downloaded it, got proper excited and i can't even hear what i've made

  • i have the same problem to, can you help me?

  • do you have any tutorials on creating synths? i used a dubstep tutorial to create my first track (its on my account) but all that did was tell me what buttons to press on thor, i dont actually know what any of them do, plus the guy would just say turn this one to add more "punch" for example, i dont know what punch is, lol! thanks.

  • Holy crap this is program is awesome, now trying some synth! xD

  • thx a lot m8!

  • yea im used to just using Fruity loops cause im still kinda new to it, ive been using it for about 3 months, and reason 4 seems hard as hell....but i think its want i need to be a better producer, or beat maker....

  • hey bobby reason 4 isnt that hard after all you just have a lot of opportunities to make your instruments sound as you like it. especially the thor synth is a good way to create both a nice deep sub and higher octave melodies. give it a try you won´t be disappointed! and if you need some beginners help pm me i will ask! check out my newest sound on my channel

  • Nice Tutorial. This wil help me start messing around with reason

  • thumbs up!

  • Thnx man, love it

  • arma182. MAKE SURE WHEN YOU SEARCH FOR A PARTICULAR SOUND YOU TYPE IN THE FILE. LIKE FOR EXAMPLE THE SUBRACTOR IS .zyp. at least on my mac it is. i have reason 4.0

  • THANKS!

  • I wonna get into making DnB tracks, apparently Reason is best for this style.

What version is the best out now?

  • reason 4

  • @raruenify Check my track they made realy simple but they are god after all. I also think reason is the best for dnb and i cpold imagne that a many pros also use it for producing.

  • @raruenify No particular application is "best" for making a certain genre of music. It all depends on how you produce (the way that you think, your workflow, etc)

  • Respect that you take time for making this!

I knew most, but still I learned new things, thanks!

  • very nice :) thanks for this!

  • Thank you very much! Your explanation is very clear and just where I was looking for.

  • there's somethin wrong with my reason or my computer a have a Mac, i installd reason 4 and reason drum kits 2, but when i search for the sounds i only see folders, i dont see any samples/loop/sounds or anything just empty folders any ideas?

  • I had the same problem, make sure when u search for sounds they are in the right catogry, e.g. if its for subtractor, click on the subtractor folder first then it should bring up your sounds.

  • can u go fullscreen ? I can't go fullscreen (win XP, reason 4)a little help would be perfect.

  • No, you cant.

  • why is my xclusive folder empty

  • because you opened the wrong folder on the redrum. dont click on the set folder, click the individual ones

  • cheers

  • i love this program. very handy and easy when u learn the basics..always something new to learnf rom reason. check out some of my tracks ive made. have them on my profile. if u like psychedelic/Goa and Psy-Chill that is. peace out reason for life :P

  • i just got reason 4.0. The sounds are nice and fresh, real sounding. Specially from my m-audio bx5a. My litte 15 key m-audio also helps out as well. Im a beginner and i love music. Thanks for the lessions and i save it on my favorites

  • So i take it you can't like, put a song from a CD on there and edit that? like garage band but to the extreme?

  • Well you can, and the process isn't complicated once you try it out a few times, but I would recommend using the one of the NN samplers Reason comes with instead of ReDrum. You would also have to convert the audio to a playable format (.wav is most common) and then load those samples up individually. For audio editing, I would suggest that you use a different program - starting with an audio editor (look up audacity, it's free) so you can get a feel for cutting up and looping samples properly.

  • That was really useful for me, I came from fruity loops :P

  • nice man now i understand lol

  • THis is dumb but i'm dumbfounded .. once i've recorded .. a note from my coustic gutiar into pro tools, how do i export/import the file into the nn-xt?

    peace and love

    tox

    De

  • The NN-XT and NN19 samplers both play original .wav files, albeit by different means. If you're only exporting one note from your guitar, I would suggest that you use the nn19 sampler, click the blue fodler icon (browse sample, NOT browse patch), find your exported .wav file and play it using either the regular sequencer, a keyboard, or the matrix analogue step sequencer. If you have multiple samples to load, then the NN-XT is a better option (use its drop down menu to load them at diff ranges.)

  • thank you :D .. x

  • how much does this program cost?

  • about 400$

  • Free. torrent power!!!

  • great.. but how do you get your beat into the.. um.. "play" area?

  • i want to know that too

  • I figured it out a minute after I watched this video.. right click Redrum and select "Copy pattern to track"

  • Redrum=murdeR

  • That's because it makes killer beats.

  • you find it doesnt play exactly the way it is when you just play the redrum programe

  • is this reason 3.0? or 2.0?

  • Check my new remix:

    /watch?v=teZ7xdBNGic

  • I thought my Reason was broken until I found this video. Thank you very very much, very useful.

  • for some reason i have no actual samples in the xclusive drums :\ i've got the folders, but no samples.any ideas? ;s

  • The only explanation that I can see for this is that you could be clicking on the "load patch" button, rather than the "load sample"

button for each individual drum track. Otherwise, you possibly have a weird problem such as a corrupted database CD or a version of reason that I haven't seen yet. Good luck.

  • awesome mate, nice one!

  • good stuff. thanks bro.

  • "i good teach u"

  • i have nothing in that folder=O

  • i love u :P tnx man realy helped me

  • Thanks mate! Only just started using Reason today and already I can make a loop!

  • hey i followed it and the equalizers on the mixers are moving but no sounds coming out. any suggestions?

  • This is probably because you either have your soundcard at low or muted volume. Also, check to see that your soundcard is appropriately selected in Reason. Go to Edit ->Preferences...->Audio to get an idea of whether or not you're using the right drivers, etc...

  • yeah it works now thanks. great turotial by the way im able to make some pretty sweet short tunes now

  • I really dont like hip pop but this turtorial was very great!

Finally i understand this program.. THANK YOU lemoonad3

  • dude, thank u so much ive been looking for a basic tutorial in makn beats

  • Kinda sucks having to read it... I'd rather be able to listen and see at the same time, instead of reading :) I love you still!

  • The video quality was pretty poor and hard to tell what was going on, but your instructions guided well. Thanks!

  • thanx a lot !!! =D

  • I really do think I love you even though I dont know you What is going on

  • Nice Tutorial! xD Not Even Sex Or Crack! ;D

  • OMG,you don't know how long I've been trying to figure this out.Your tutorial was straiht to the point, not all this other crap on here that just doesn't get to the point. Thanx.

  • I used this video to start teaching Reason. Most "beginner" videos and books start with "Reason is easy because it is just like the Korg #xxxxx that you have been using for years." I am a rank beginner and that is no help. I was able to get several of my students started on reason with this tutorial. I was asked to teach the class even though I knew nothing about the subject.

  • That's really great! Thanks for using this. I originally made the tutorial for a friend who knew nothing about Reason as well, and I'm glad it could be of help to others. If you have any questions about the basics, feel free to ask me.

  • ok i went to the fold.. after the sex crack part... and... i browsed through the bass drum folders.. theres nothing in them ???

  • This is possibly due to your not looking in the right place, or because you are not browsing through the right samples. You are essentially looking for .wav files. If you have clicked the "browse patch" button then you won't find them. Otherwise you are looking in the wrong place or don't have the files.

  • I love you too! :D

  • THANK YOUUUUU :D :D :D

  • very good tutorial :)

  • thanks for the help dawg

  • They say that nothing is as good as your first sample. Not even sex or crack <---

    Fuck, i can't stop laughing°!!!!!!

    ahahahahahahha

  • how long dose it take to learn all this i want to start i have never used eny of this eny tips

  • Um. That depends on how good you are with music and technology. My tip for you is to look around youtube for reason tutorials. mine is directed to help you with an initial set up, but not much more than that. i hope this makes you feel better.

  • And hopefully It takes your entire life to learn all you want about music.

  • THANKS! Now I finnaly know how to use it. 10000 stars of 10 :D

  • Is it possible to play external instruments such as; an Akai MPC 500 into reason?Pls help.

  • You can use a midi controller if you can connect it to your pc via USB or MIDI port. I'm not sure if the MPC500 can act as a midi controller, but if it can, then you're in luck.. Unfortunately, Reason has always acted as a standalone unit. The best way to import music into it would probably be by recording the audio to an editor (eg. the freeware audigy or commercial Sound Forge) and then using Reason's samplers to play them.

  • i can't open any wav file.

they don't even appear in the browse window. at first i thought they were missing from my soundbank but before i went searching for them i tried to open someother wav files and reason didn't recognize them. :( help, pls.

  • Yeah, I don't like the fact that you used the sequencer. Very amateurish.

  • The "step sequencer"? This was the standard that drove electronic music for two decades and the standard that remains both simple and functional today. 'Amateurish' can be thrown around in lot of different ways - using Reason or relying on samples in music at all is 'amateurish' to some. Fact is, step sequencing works to build a foundation for more complexity, and since this a tutoral for beginer, there is no other way. i love you. Thank you.

  • reason<cubase

  • now that i've connected my keyboard with reason... How can i use the sound from my keyboard to play it with reason?? i wanna import the sound from my keyboard and play it with reason's piano roll

  • im gonna say that you cant

you can only use it to send midi info i.e. trigger notes and move faders

    thats reasons limitation

    no external audio

    among other things;D

  • Grat Fucking Video Man

Awesome for us Noobs.... for a while ! hahahahahaha

  • highhats lol

very good tutorial man! 5 stars

  • Seriously man, a huge thank you on this tutorial, i've been scratching my head for so long with even building anything on reason. This has got me started.

    Cheers.

  • thanks alot for this tutorial it was very informative :)

  • thanks man!! this is cool.. but i wish i could learn more about the other devices.. peace..

  • copy video oranggggggggg

gak kreatif, dasar kontol anjing loe..

    kontol makan tuh kontol anjing...

  • thanks for taking the time to post this man, i'll take all the info i can get on this program. you should do a series where you do tutorials of all the gear in reason, build a song out of it. drums are just the beginning.

    thanks again.

  • very well done!!! definetly helped me alot!! thanks!!! 5 star

  • Hey thanks for the tutorial!! It got me started.

  • hehe m

  • me encantaria qe este video estuviese en español

  • I have the refill for sound bank and orkester, but it won't find it in the folder... Any ideas on how to solve this?

  • Just started using Reason, your tutorial was really helpful (and your spelling kept me interested)

  • thanks so much!

  • thanks alot man that was very helpful
