If you guys are looking for the PC/DOS versions of NHL Hockey and NHL Hockey 95, you can buy them on CD. NHL Hockey originally came out on floppy disks, but they remade it as "NHL Hockey CD-ROM Classics". NHL Hockey '95 can also be found on CD-ROM.
I used to play this on a 486 PC with a joystick/gamepad.
The following season the PC/DOS version was titled "NHL Hockey 95" (PC version had Mike Richter on cover, while Console versions were called "NHL 95" and had McClean/Kovalev on cover). The "sportsdesk" screen was changed to a real picture of a sportscaster, while the edit lineup was the same and so was the "Tonight's Starting Lineups" screen.

This was just called "NHL Hockey" on the PC/DOS version, and it came out in the fall of 1993 (coinciding with release of NHL '94 for the Sega Genesis and the SNES). This PC version was a totally different game from the console versions. The edit lineup screen was awesome, you'd just grab the player's jersey and drag/ drop into the line you wanted that player. The gameplay sounds were completely different too, and the gameplay itself wasn't the same as the console versions. I used to play this
I love this Hockey. With joypad, it was great. Later versions never chatched me like this. Do someone know, which later hockey is the best similar in gameplay to this one?
@tbonenyc08 gotta be disagreeing here. i had both, and this game was far superior. the sound is weaker, but the graphics are crisper, and they gameplay is better.
@tbonenyc08 The sound effects seem to be on adlib mode, with a sound blaster (which is what most PCs have) this sounds superior to the Genesis version. And the framerate, while not a smooth 60 FPS on my PC, was still better than whats showing in this video. NHL 95 on PC was a smooth 60 FPS however. Overall its hard to compare this and the Genesis version. This has a full season mode. Genesis didn't have that till NHL 95, and the Genesis version of 95 was awful. PC version is also less arcadey.
my favorite hockey game for sure, and definetly the best of the 2D ones, even though its an older one. great fans, great music. the ref actually skates and retrieves the puck time keeper etc. i just love the detail, the anthem, everything. i was pissed that i couldnt figure out how to run it on my new computer, then i lost the disc.......worst moment ever
haha, i remember this game so well.. I was like 7 or 8 when I played this game day in and day out... The fast guys like Bure, Mogilny, and Petr Klima were unstoppable in it!!
In reality, this game was not called "93", it was just "NHL Hockey". On the PC it was released in 1993 with full licence. Dino Ciccarelli was great in there ;-).
However, I am not sure how about first Genesis version, which was released in 91 - may be this one was without licence for player names?
In fact yes, it was called NHL Hockey, however, if you still want write the appropriate year to be like the other NHL, you should write NHL Hockey 94. Because it's for season 1993/1994. (Just after the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup.)
@bludr NHL Hockey on the Genesis (released in fall '91) was the '92 edition, NHL Hockey on the PC (released in fall '93) was the '94 edition. This is a common misconception. I also see a lot of people call the European version of NHL Hockey (92) on Genesis, called EA Sports Hockey (EA didn't get the NHL license for Europe) called NHL 91 when in fact it was released slightly after NHL Hockey (92)
I played it few years back on my phone
