It reminds me more of a Surf version of the "Gimme Gimme Octopus" soundtrack , and not just because it's Japanese. It does sound comical , by the delivery , even though I don't speak the language.
"The film climaxes with him coming face to face with Adolf Hitler who is ready to start the Fourth Reich!" Okay I don't mind that spoiler. NEED to see now!
This is not a novelty song, but one of four songs from the 1965 Toho comedy, BIG ADVENTURE, featuring the popular comedy/musical group, The Crazy Cats. The film stars Hitoshi Ueki, who sings this song. Ueki plays a former gymnast who becomes caught up in international intrigue and is mistaken for a famous spy (think 007). The film climaxes with him coming face to face with Adolf Hitler who is ready to start the Fourth Reich!
Haijme Hana & Crazy Cats were very successful and talented comedians and a Spike Jones-styled novelty band. The flipside of this single "Daiboken March(Great Adventure March)" is sung by these Crazy Cats, accompanied by the Toshiba Recording Orchestra.
Takeshi Terauchi is Japan's greatest rock guitarist of all time, but he has been unfairly ignored, scorned and underrated by many of Japanese rock critics and fans.
If you search these words HITOSHI UEKI(植木等), CRAZY CATS(クレージー・キャッツ or クレイジー・キャッツ) and TAKESHI TERAUCHI(寺内タケシ), you can find many of their incredible performances.
This is a Japanese novelty song called "IKAN NI ZONJIMASU(I feel so regrettable)" sung by Japan's top comedian, the late great HITOSHI UEKI of Hajime Hana & Crazy Cats. The backing band are Takeshi "Terry" Terauchi & Blue Jeans and this performance shows parodies of The Beatles' "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and The Ventures' "Diamond Head". This song became a big hit in 1965.
I don't know much about them,(other than they rock.) but I asked a friend who can read Japanese who they were. If you like them you may like Yuzo Kayama. He has some awesome videos on here as well.
@agentspacemonkey Finally! I've been trying to find out for years! Do you know anything about them? Were they very popular? Did they make more recordings?
@kingfrat78 Glad you like it..Thanks for comments. I just started on You Tube and I'm planning on posting more that are "outside the box" as time permits. No boring common commercial stuff here! I browsed your uploads and I have to say that our tastes are similar...all over the place! Hey, didn't someone say that variety is the spice of life?
@buriedinvinyl , yes variety is the key!! Too much of any good thing is overkill. I look forward to see more videos from you and I would agree that our tastes are very similair. Are you from upstate? -dan

This is by a comedian named Hitoshi Ueki. It's about businessmen. The vocal style is sort of a parody of traditional Japanese singing
