Sometimes they know it's really just so tough to emulate that studio sound in a video environment, so they just play a CD and lip synch. I don't think their talent or ethics takes a hit because of this. The point is they did get it right in the studio originally so who cares? In concert some fans want to hear the song exactly as it sounded in the recording studio whilst others want to hear a more natural ad-lib version. Artist has to pick which approach-can't have it both ways.

Her first four appearances on TOTP were live (BATB, TPOL, TT, OOR) but apparantly she damaged the sound system once in a rehersal or something and was banned from singing live there, lol. Don't know how much truth there is to that, but I heard that from someone.

i dont think she was banned lol, thats abit extreme. top of the tops in the mid-late 90s became like a TV show.....lip syncing artists and actors in the audience (perfect example, why is EVERY audience memba in this video swaying from side to side lol, because it looks good, and thats what the director wanted lol)

Lol, yes. But it's odd she would sing live the first few appearances, then decide not too. Nearly all of her TV show performances follow a pattern where all from this show are live, all from this show are not. Performances on the tonight show, late show, early show, today show, etc...are ALWAYS live. There are some shows that are ALWAYS lipped. The San Remo Festival (which she has appeared twice) was live once, and lipped another. The View is USUALLY live, although MHWGO was lipped in 2004.
