  • loves to Santorini from Azerbaijan

  • a most beautiful land in this world!Especially Santorini!

  • Subscribe to me, ELLADA! :)

  • Considering commercial recordings that I know of, this is the most beautiful! It has to be sung in Greek! In fact a number of my favorite songs are not in English and, though I do not speak the languages, they remain favorites and this ranks highest among them.

  • no entienden nada... otro paraiso para tu pais... eeuu.

  • in my dreams i know i've been there in this lovely island, i've visited this beautiful country more than once, and perhaps the reason is that my real grandfather is of greek origin, so i have greek in my blood, and i know that physically i'll be there sooner than later to breathe this greek nature and perhaps find my roots there in this priviledged land of courageous people. opa....mv

  • I love Greece so much ...

  • @NEFELITSA4

Scusi lo sbaglio, quanto la localizzazione di questo paradiso, tuttavia la sua belezza sarà sempre senza uguale! Va bene? My friend...

  • BOSKA IRENA...

  • Santorini is my love place in Greece

  • fuck all the greek politicians who turned our beautiful land into a beggar of the world. HELLAS shall rise again

  • @rocoreb No until Hellas leaves Macedonia alone.

  • @ellenofag still living in the delusional fantasies ha...

  • @rocoreb We will see.

  • @ellenofag yes we will, won't we

  • @rocoreb only muslims can save your beautiful country, just like we did back in the days.

  • @yuhcgte the muslims actually fucked it up in the first place, if you know your history

  • @rocoreb no they actually brought hope and prosperity to the people of macedonia, but they only used the muslims and didnt respect what they had to offer. and if you go back in history , alexander the great wasnt all great, and he invaded the world with oppression, and had people killed who didnt follow him but yet he is narrated as a hero. there is good and bad in every nation and race, its up to you how you look at them..

  • @yuhcgte an interesting way of seeing history and manipulating it of course. i can see you are either a little confused or are deliberately distorting things. 1. since when have conquering forces been considered as bearers of peace and hope to the subjugated peoples. 2. who argued that Alex the great was a saint, what is your point? that muslims were the benign forces of good and were exploited by the people they conquered, and not the other way round!?? if so, that's a new one!!

  • @rocoreb you first point, you should tell that to yourself first ,,, arent you people attacking and destroying other nations, and saying that they are trying to bring peace to the world..... sounds like when you guys do this, its justice, but when other do its called terrorisim... great

  • @yuhcgte you reply proves my point that you are in confusion. my people, what do you mean?? if you are referring to the illegal wars against iraq and other muslim nations, who said 'my people' as you say are in favour of these actions? i am not american or british or french or italian or canadian or german you know. greeks have always supported the causes of freedom fighting. please get out of the 'black vs white', 'muslim vs west' narrative that you have in your mind. not everyone is the same

  • @yuhcgte Greece is a Christian Orthodox country! No place for muslims.Sorry!I know that from the beggining your goal was to conquer Greece and i understand you cause it is the most beautiful country in the world but this ain't gonna happen .By the way last time we were under Ottoman occupation the only things you offered us were killings, rapes, tortures and thousands of martyres and heroes who fought for freedom and were killed by the Turks.Thank you for the memories!

  • @VassilikiG78 nomore

  • @klaudiasygitmocz What makes you say that?

  • @rocoreb

I love Greece; I love Greeks the proud nation of free poeple; I spent there my the most happy months.

But the question is: how many Greeks were voting for communists and "socialists" to keep social privillages which you could not afford?

    Regards!

  • @paweltalarczyk long story short. for a about 40 years or so, since 1974 when democracy was restored, after the military junta, there have been 2 political parties in power, conservatives and socialists. communist have received on average a 7-8 percent of the vote throughout that period, so they are out of the equation. so both socialists and conservatives have fucked it all up. it is a matter of corrupt politicians getting corrupter. break out of the reds vs blues narrative. cheers

  • @paweltalarczyk do not believe the oversimplified and often distorted media coverage of the story. have the italians, or spaniards, or irish (who were the poster boys of the markets up until recently) even the US, who are currently under attack by hedge funds and markets also paying the price for extravagant spending? simple.when corporate business merges with government i.e politicians, which is what has happened in these countries, you have corruption and eventually fascism. cheers

  • @rocoreb

i think they are even foreign politician/investors mind you..

  • @RENEDU2 yes, you are right.

  • @rocoreb

yes , if Merkel says "ok you can rise" hellas will rise :)::)

  • @mammaTurki didn't expect any different response from a Turk. wannabe Germans deep down inside. you were their allies in WWI, and your 'leader' taught them the 'art' of genocide, so no surprise there....

  • Comment removed

  • @mammaTurki If you don't like the music or the video about our beautiful island of Santorini watch something else.By any means though stop posting idiotic comments. What politics has to do with the magic of the song and the scenery? For once stop being fanatic and learn to appreciate culture and beauty!

  • @rocoreb I am Norwegian, but I lived in Athens for 4 years when I was younger, 7-10 years old. Now i am 17, but I remember what a beautiful country it is, and we go on vacations to Greece. Soon people will talk about what a nice country it is, and not the economy. I'm sure.

to wonderful music lovely post thank you

    xxx

  • proud to be greek

  • Sorry but I don t understand why Menousis go and kill the the woman they were talking about. Wasn t that the wife of Memet Agas?

"How beautiful she's your wife, Memet aga"

    "Then Menousis who was drunk,

he went and he slaughtered her".

  • @vivamadriz because he was drunk and at the time it was an insult someone to go and kiss your wife

  • @stivntouzos Thank you very much for the comment. I understand that Menousis was drunk, etc. What I still don’t understand is why he kills someone else's wife.

  • @vivamadriz: I see why it confuses you, it seems they have changed the lyrics a little here. Originally, it is Menoussis', not Mehmed's wife they talk about. The other guy kisses her (in other versions, she just washes his handkerchief for him), Menoussis (her husband) finds out and then kills her. What I mean to say is that in every version of the song, it's her husband who kills her.

  • @pitsinokaki Thank you very much. Good comment.

  • @vivamadriz: It seems that they refer to Mehmed as the husband and to Menoussis as the murderer here, they have obviously changed/re-arranged the lyrics, I'm not sure why. But in any case, the husband and the murderer are supposed to be the same person in this folksong.

  • Niiiiice pictures :-)

  • I love This song! Vangelis&Papas-Great duet!

  • @goldenboy883 :

This song you hear above is obviously Greek. It's sang in Greek, by Greek artists and it is an old Greek song from the times of Ottoman occupation.

Chameria is a place were Greeks lived and migrated from/to during these years of the creation of the Balkan soup that we are..

Take your uninformed comments and either support them with historical facts for the musical origin of the song (if you wanna speak about that) or just stop writing wrong things. Just enjoy the song.

  • @llenrocni I wanted to say that I've heard this song in Albanian and as far as I'm informed this is a Cham Albanian song but I'm not sure if the Greeks took it from them or Chams took it from Greeks.

There are many common songs in fact in the Balkans.

I wanted to say also regarding Chameria that during Ottoman times it was populated mainly by Albanians. Greeks were a minority there.

    Nevertheless it's a good song.

    Cheers.

  • @goldenboy883

This is a Greek song in origin. But like most modern Albanian songs, they are reproduced in the Albanian language. You see, Greece has always been regarded as a cultural leader in the greater region of the Balkans & southern Italy. I'm glad you like the song.

  • Yes, it doesn't say anything about a handkerchief here, however, in another version of this song, a handkerchief is mentioned instead of a kiss: "I saw her yesterday by the well, she was drawing up water/And I gave her my handkerchief/and she washed it for me". Taking the social restrictions of women into account, this was considered inappropriate behaviour and Menoussis, drunk as he was, was enraged...

  • CHE BELLA E' LA GRECIA!

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • the fact that you gave the translation is great, only i want to add a few details.. never in the song did i hear anything about a scarf... the man asked the woman in the well for a kiss, she gave it to the strange man... menousis killed her while drunk, when he woke up the morning after he cried.. late..

    incredible music!!

  • Thank,s a lot bazizilthess.

For the translation. Im very aprecciate it.

    By.

  • Beautiful !!

  • spoko ;dd

  • to pezo sto saxofono :)

  • superbe bravo

  • The MENOUS, not wanting to believe what he says of his friend, asks him to describe what he was wearing his wife. And he does. By fogged mind than wine, returns home and kills. In the morning, when stone-sober and realized his mistake, it was too late. And there begins the dirge for the beautiful wife ...

  • The toes have been trodden MENOUS then asks to know who saw what he was talking about the one. And he replied that he found in the well to get water and not only that but told her she replied, that gave him meaning. (In another variant of the songs wife MENOUS reportedly agreed to wash the scarf of the unknown when he requests it of).

  • One of the company addressed the MENOUS and speaks to the woman and how beautiful it is. In time the conversation to be a woman in a antroparea even with hints of beauty was far more disgraceful to themselves and to her husband. The woman considered to be as fair and in accordance with the moral code of the era was not only not to move in the same way unnecessarily or unaccompanied, with a view, but not to move even her name.

  • It is the famous story of MENOUS and his wife. Is the era of Turkish rule. The three friends, two Greeks and the MENOUS Bermpilis and one Turkish, the Aga-Resoul located in krasopoulo in a tavern that is, and have fun. Over the conversation, and begin talking about beautiful women.

  • THANK,S A LOT.
