Have you seen Axl lately? Fatass, cornrow, puffy faced punk. He sooo fucked himself up with that plastic surgery. He also lost the GNR edge. I don't blame Slash for leaving that loser. He used to have all the moves on stage, now he's winded by the fourth song and is rooted to the spot. Shame.

my guess is, you play bass guitar yourself? every instrument in the band is equally important. However, a rockband without bass could survive. A rock band without guitar would not survive. A classical band without piano or strings can't be a great band. A band needs all it's members, everyones just as important as the next.. some are however more unmissable.

first of all i'd just like to say that Slash is my hero. I read his book twice :) and it was the best book I have ever read. He has an amazing guitar technique and an a amazing feel for music. Smoking is part of music, doing drugs is part of music, its that artsy thing and hey if Slash wants to smoke a cigarette let him somke one! he's a bad ass and he can do whatever he wants. Smoking is pretty cool as long as you don't get hooked.

there are plenty of straightedge bands that are great and should be popular, music is about music not sex and drugs. it was just addapted by lifestyles led by musicians because they felt the need to do it and back then nobody knew smoking killed.

Some people smoke, some don't....it's that simple. No, smoking isn't a part of an orchestra, but consider; how many famous rock stars or bands do you know of that didn't smoke/do drugs? yeah, he suffered from some heart issue, where once his heart stopped and he died for around 9 mins, now he has some monitor that monitors his heartbeat and shocks it back to normal if if starts to fail.. also with the drugs, it was his wife perla that stopped him .
