In fact I do believe in other gods. The Bible talks about other gods and says not to follow them, because only Jesus can save you. As for your "huge logical flaw," it is nonsense to me, because why should I put more trust in your weak human mind when I know the ALMIGHTY GOD who created you and loves you even though you despise Him? There is no point in arguing with someone who has their mind made up to trust their own understanding instead of living by faith in that which our minds cannot fathom
Big question: What if you're wrong about Zeus, Thor, Allah, etc? Your argument is flawed because it assumes there are only two options: Christian God or Nothing at All. It's those pesky other options that could just as easily damn you for eternity for your beliefs that you choose to ignore because it's comfortable for you.
If I were damned for eternity by any other god because I chose to serve Jesus, I am ok with that because there is no god like my God who is so loving, merciful, just, & righteouss. no other god is worthy of my devotion. I'd rather serve Him with no benefit of salvation (if that were the case, which I know it is NOT) than to spend my life serving some other diety. What makes the real differene is love. no other god LOVES me the way Jesus does.
@theredhead521 So your defense to the huge logical flaw that I presented is that even if your god turns out to not exist, you'd still rather be loyal to a non-existent god because you prefer it that way. You seem to be saying that you believe there are a multitude of gods, and you just picked this one because of the benefits package. Little polytheism for ya? You ignore the possibility of Allah existing and God not existing. Try logic, not asserting.
@dpotter2113 It doesn't work that way. When you have Christ in your life, things will happen that have no explanation. I'm not talking about simple, little things. I'm talking about things that you cannot mistake being from Him. THAT is how we know we have "the right God." THAT is what helps our faith increase that much more. THAT is what makes it worth coming on these sites and arguing with some atheist fool who refuses to think anyone bigger and better than himself exists. Atheism=selfishness.
@crystalsky84 Your response = Willful ignorance at the highest level. "How do I know my god exists? Because he does! So there!" Great argument buddy. Keep fighting the sad fight. Us awful atheists will be busy actually making the world a better place instead of praying it happens by itself.
@ Shaun..The big difference is that if a person is saved by the blood of Jesus Christ then there is absolutely NO question. We KNOW we are right because we have proof from Almighty God. I will pray for your soul Shaun- there is not much time left to make a choice. The Lord says":today is the day of your Salvation, harden not your heart" I believe he is speaking to you....
..., (this follows the comment below) those serving other 'gods' seemed isolated and out of fear, it seemed, would fight against other tribes and what would start as a small problem would escalate leading to deaths. Whereas those serving the God of the Bible would work together to overcome the problem. I'm not going to say the vietnam war was caused by godless people but I think a lot of responsibility does fall on the communists as they had a huge part to play.
@ninegray Yeah, I think your right that correlation ≠ causation and that there are many Animistic peoples who are trying to appease 'gods'. I grew up in Papua New Guinea and witnessed the amazing difference between those who knew and lived for the God of the Bible and those who didn't. All remained animist in that their main values were spiritual dealings, family (relationships) & food rather than more material things. The difference was when something went wrong...
@ninegray the history of Sweden can't be ignored when looking at where it is today. And even so, that one example is also counteracted by so many other countries where unreached tribes still practice canabalism, etc.
A nice song well sung. Nicole Nordeman is very talented. But the premise is based what is known as Pascal's Wager This is a logically flawed concept. It assumes only two possibilities - either the Christian concept of God and the afterlife - or no God and after life. But what of other possibilities. What if, just for example, it turns out that Islam is right and Christianity is wrong?
my God is a God of love but also a God of justice. i wish some would realize what that means and all it entails and stop whining about the "wicked" god when it is their own sin that separates them from the Father. i wish they'd just be humble and repent so that they could share in the grace and love of God that is offered to all, but accepted by few. i wish i wish, but wishing is futile, so i will pray instead. :)
@ninegray - you know, i have come to accept that some people will never understand the simple fact that some things don't make sense to our tiny minds of minuscule comprehension, thus they refuse to believe in the Truth that is able to save them. i wish i could find some way to "prove" to you the unending love and grace of Jesus Christ, but to spend time arguing would be a disgrace to both of us. suffice it to say, Jesus loves you and He is ready when you are, with open arms and eternal life. <3
To the question: "What if Christians are wrong?" We die and go into the ground just like you do, but have lived a life serving others needs above our own, having put our Faith in something outside our own selfish desires and generally lived a purpose driving life. BUT, if you are wrong.... are you really sure.. I mean REALLY sure you want to take that chance? An eternity of screaming, burning, painfully tortured. U think Satan cares about anybody but himself? Do U really want to risk everything?
Isn't society the same way? Isn't government the same way? Follow the laws or go to jail. You don't speed by a police officer because you are afraid of getting a ticket.. I do see where you are coming from though. But true Christians don't serve out of fear, what kind of love would that be? We serve because He has called us to do so. I can't speak for any other pastors, or Christians, i can only speak of what God has done for me and my family and in my life. That's all I can provide. Sorry.
But in relevancy terms, human laws do offer lifetime sentences and even death penalty's. So you don't go out and kill someone you really, really feel would be better off dead (a serial rapist) because you fear taking the law into your hands would land you in jail yourself.. Human laws offer freedom while on earth, but break the laws and your freedom is gone.
The justice system is so far beyond corrupt. I can't believe you even put faith in the justice system.. So much scandals going on at the supreme justice level that it would blow your mind. Money controls the justice system, politics control the justice system.
Keep in mind my friend, not everybody who says they are Christian are actually Christian. Some Christians use the name of God for power and fear tactics. Jesus told us that many will call His name in the final day and God will say I never knew you.. Meaning those people who say they know God really don't have a relationship with Him and you can't use them as a gauge as how a Christian should behave. The Bible tells you how a Christian should behave. But you are right. the justice system is sick
yeh it does say how u should behave beat talking back children keep slaves kill nonbeleivers how about u read the fucking bible it makes americas justice system look like a walk on the beach covered in lollipops and unicorns
why do u want to serve such a evil and nonexistant being could it still be heaven if ur freinds or family were burning and u were in heaven either way ur gonna prove one of my points
You didn't make any points, you just asked a question. =( God isn't evil, some men who "represent" HIm are. The Bible tells us of all sorts of false teachers, so if you take the words of the false teachers (and it could be a lot of people who are false teacher, I already have a short list of evil preachers) And my friends and family have their own minds, I have Christia friends and non Christian friends alike, they have free will and it isn't God's fault if they don't go to heaven =)
i know they admit how sorry they are as people (not saying atheist r better although studies show more atheist = less crime u dont see them using that argument atheism bad for society lol) and they have to have a fear of punishment to be good people
Never heard that stat of more Godless people = less crime. Cases can be made for both sides of the coin though. There are "good for society" atheists and there are "evil doing" Christians. But even Christians are told to stay away from such Christians. But I ask you this, how many Christians (just normal citizens, not powerful christians) are in prision? And not the ones who become Christians while in prison.....Christians have to abid by the laws of the land too. We are told by Jesus to do so.
@Shaun102578 - my friend, i get where you are going with this, but my fear of hell does not stem from the risk of the flame, but of the loss of relationship with my God and Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit which now dwells in and with me. that's what Jesus suffered on the cross--complete separation from God for our sin. THAT is what the torment of hell is--separation from God, from His love, grace, mercy, peace, joy, and all His other indescribably abundant qualities.
@Shaun102578 - also, i don't serve God out of FEAR of anything. i serve Him out of love and reverence. i serve Him because He first served me. i serve Him because i owe Him my life, my soul, my all. you will never convince others by using fear tactics and warnings of hell. to them, hell is as real as leprechauns and faeries. what they need to see is not the threat of hell, but the reward of the love of God. i hope i am not offending you, just offering what i have learned in my meager experience.
@theredhead521 I'm not offended in the least, I understand and appreciate your input and your testimony (sort to speak) and I also agree 100%. Two things, I'm not really trying to reach people out of fear of the Lord or hell, just trying to compare the worlds way of regulating itself and God's way of regulating His people. God's government works in the same way as the worlds government. Reward and consequence. Secondly, the bible tells us many times that "Fear of the Lord is the heart of wisdom"
you are right; man's government was modeled after God's. and there is no argument that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." however the beginning of a relationship with God is not rooted in fear or wisdom, but mercy and grace. the fear of the Lord is something that is developed and understood over time. that is why i believe that the scare tactics of hell and damnation are ineffective ways of evangelizing. but i agree, what you are saying is vital Truth. God Bless!
I can absolutely provide proof of the ressurected Lord Jesus, and the FACT that every word of the Bible is true and vindicated. I would give you this proof, except for the Fact that you would only spend your every waking moment trying to find some chink in it and trying to disprove it. So you see some people cannot be convinced no matter the overwhelming proof. If you would only open your eyes of understanding you too could see the TRUTH.
No please tell me the proof of which you claim. Or will you simply say that if I would just believe then it would all make sense as pastors have told me before.
John 14:14 "The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you." NIV In the same way that God has called His people to serve, Satan has called his people to serve. Some eyes can't see the light because Satan won't allow them to be opened. I know Christians are to believe all can be saved, but fact is, that's not true. Only Gods chosen will see the Kingdom He has prepared for us. Keep the Faith Sister and God Bless U
it isnt a man up in the sky that is gonna carry me away, it is HIS spirit dwelling inside me that will quicken the WORD living in me to RAPTURE me. EVERY knee shall bow And EVERY tongue will confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD. That includes unbelievers. Dont be left out
actually it does say that. it says "Love your neighbor as yourself." that verse applies to men and women. the main reasons for much of the controversy about women in the Bible is the time and culture in which it was written, and the misinterpretation of the word "man" in the Bible. in many of the contexts that people use to discredit the Bible's veiw on women, the word "man" is intended to mean "mankind, humans, people" not "male."
oh, and in response to the comment about Jesus' perfection, the Bible clearly states that He who was WITHOUT SIN became sin for us, that we might share in the righteousness of God. and while it doesn't record every moment of His life, i have complete faith and trust that He was and is the spotless Lamb of God, offered as a willing sacrifice to pay the price for my sin. honestly, if there was a book that claimed to have a record of ANYone's every moment for 33 years, i'd laugh it off. =D
yes. FAITH. it is the absence of the arrogance in thinking i know it all or that my puny human brain could ever attempt to comprehend the full glory of a magnificent God. it is trusting things that cannot be "proven" by some methodical equation or formula because they are spiritual truths that my brain has no concept of. Now faith is...the EVIDENCE of things not seen. my faith IS the evidence. and it's all the proof I need. if its not good enough for you, i apologize. (and no, i'm NOT sorry.)
No faith and arrogance go hand in hand. You are arrogant because you think you are right and all other religions are wrong.
And yes I am sorry but faith is not evidence. If you were in a trial and needed some evidence to proove someone's innocense then what would happen if someone said "I just have faith that he is innocent." They would be laughed at. Sorry but in the real world faith just doesn't cut it.
my pride is not in and of myself, as i am sure you have seen. my pride in my faith lies in the Author of my faith. He is the One True God. it is not arrogant to believe in the Truth and know without a shadow of doubt that it is what it is.
and actually, a trial has EVERYTHING to do with faith, because using evidence or argument, the goal it to make the jury and judge BELIEVE in one's innocence or guilt. if you want evidence of God, look around you. His fingerprints cover all of creation.
oops, i hit remove instead of reply on that last comment, please feel free to repost it.
but as for the proof you seek, don't worry my friend, He IS coming back, riding on the clouds in all His glory. but by then it will be too late to change your mind. "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
Well since the only place that says this is your book with who knows what auther or even if the authers were sane, then I guess the only thing you have is your faith in your fairy tale. Now for some reality. When you die, your dead. Gone. Out of existiance forever. You won't even be aware that you have wasted your one and only life.
if there is nothing after this life, and i am "wasting" it, so what? what difference can it possibly make to you what i do with my life or how i believe? you are fighting against the REALITY of God so hard... what you believe is up to you. i didn't come to your page and start attacking you or your lack of faith. how is my faith in God hurting you, or anyone for that matter? why do you want to spend so much time telling me i'm wrong? what do you hope to gain? i'm tired of this pointless argument.
It's isn't you personally that I am attacking. I am attacking theism in general because christians are trying to get intelligient design and creation taught in school when there is obvious evidence against them. They are trying to force their beliefs on other people and interfering with other people's rights. Religion is holding back humanity as a species. Time to throw the fairy tales away and embrace reality.
uh, ever seen the movie "Expelled" with Ben Stein? he is Jewish, not Christian, but the movie shows just how ignorant people are regarding the facts of intelligent design vs evolution. you really should watch it.
I haven't seen it yet. But I heard it had some bad reviews. He thinks that abiogenesis works by lightning striking a mud puddle. I'll watch it if you watch some of Richard Dawkins' documentaries.
Richard Dawkins is a severely misled individual. i've seen his work and it makes me want to vomit. one has to question why he is so adamant against Christianity... if my faith is foolishness, what is it to him, or to you? i still wonder how my personal belief system could be so important to complete strangers. what are you so afraid of that you have to try to prove yourself and your veiw to me and discredit my God? again, i did not come after you to try to beat you with my Bible. you came to me.
No Richard Dawkins is one of the smartest people on the planet. If you want to look up a mislead person then google William Lane Craig.
Hey as long as you people keep your beliefs out of politics and schools than I am pretty much alright with it. Of course it really isn't healthy to live inside a fantasy either.
why are you in a country founded on "In God We Trust" if you don't want God in the politics and schools?
why do you bring William Lane Craig into the conversation? just like me and you, Richard Dawkins, or John Lennon, no one is infallible. i don't agree with every single thing he does, but all in all, his work in apologetics is fascinating. but that is beside the point. i think our little discussion is more an issue of our own faith (or lack of), so lets keep this from becoming an orgy.
"In god we trust" was added illegally to money back in the 1950's. This country is founded on seperation of church and state. This requires that ID be kept out of the classroom. Perhaps I will go to your church and teach evolution if people want them to be blended.
You have faith in the supernatural which has never ever once been proven to be true.
I have knowledge of reality which is true every second of everyday.
i didn't say anything about the money... hrm, context, context-- a concept alien to you, it seems. sigh.
i would LOVE for you to come teach a class on evolution at my church! i think our kids could use the full veiw on things like that. i wish more people embraced knowledge in both sides of the story so they could make an informed decision. i hate it when either side is running blind.
aw thats too bad. i was looking forward to meeting you and having this little chat face to face. =(
oh well. the conversation is becoming inane, anyway, so i think i will just call it quits and let the seeds settle for a bit. my email adress is bemycatalyst-2cor517 @ yahoo (.com) hit me up if you ever blossom. =) take care.
You are correct, creationism and evolution-ism cannot co-exist. But it's funny you put all your Faith in an evolutionary theory you don't even understand but mock Christians for putting Faith in something true Christians have seen and experienced. Even Christians know how evolution works, we just don't buy into it, because it changes year to year. Now! they say monkeys and humans came from the same specie... They don't know which specie though... But Christians do. We came FROM OUR CREATOR.
and the bad reveiws on "Expelled" are because some people can't handle the Truth. since i've already seen Dawkins, you can make your way to the movie rental store, now, right? lol, i doubt you will. you don't want to hear the Truth. you've made up your mind and hardened your heart and you're just trying to get others to doubt their faith to make you feel better about the fact that you are too scared to believe. but just so you know, your friend Dawkins made a real ass out of himself in the film.
No I said I will watch it and I will. I will order it from amazon. If you seriously think that evolution and abiogenesis are wrong then you need to research them.
It is you who have made up your mind to believe in your fairy tales and not embrace reality.
No Ben Stein is now known as a moron to every smart person.
i never said i don't believe in evolution or abiogenesis. fyi, i do believe that adaptation (but not evolution), is an insintric part of how God manages His creations, and the idea of abiogenesis is vital to the creation of man. God took dust, formed it, and breathed life into it, thus creating life from non-living matter. =) God is so cool! so you see, science and religion are not enemies, they are soul mates. that is what many in the world (on both sides of the fence) fail to realize.
Ah now you sound like a theistic evolutionist. You accept the results of modern science yet still cling to your silly faith so you just combine the two. Of course by doing this you are going against the bible.
Where did you see Dawkins? In the movie expelled? He only had a very small part in that movie. I meant you need to read his books or watch his documentaries which can be found on youtube.
i have watched several of Dawkins' discourses and read some of his works. i am not an ignorant twit that makes false assumptions based on speculative gossip or one-sided portrayals. =) the most applaing was Dawkins' probably most famous, "The God Delusion." chapter 2 made me wanna barf. and the further i read, the greener i got. his arrogance and ignorance are absolute. my prayer for him is that God humbles him before it's too late.
Sound like me whenever I read any of the bible or hear a pastor and his sermon. The vomit does tend to move in the northern direction. My hope for you is that soon you will see reality and throw away the fairy tales.
look, my faith is SOLID, UNSHAKABLE, IRREVOKABLE.you're not going to say anything that will change my mind. i KNOW God. i know you have no concept of what that means, and it breaks my heart that you are missing out on His unending love, amazing grace, unchanging mercy, and supernatural peace. and for what? so that when you die and cease to exist as you claim you will, no one will think you were a fool for your faith? what if you are a fool for NOT blelieving? listen to the song; think about it.
You heart has nothing to do with your emotions it is your brain that does. It does baffle me how a grown person like yourself will say I know fairy tales are just for children and then turn right around and say there is a man living in the sky who will carry them away one day.
Perhaps you should listen to the song "imagine" by john lennon.
ok, again, you're overthinking this. "heart" refers to the core of my being, not a vital organ in my body. i am internally broken in knowing that you are missing out on the gift of God. God is not in the sky, His kingdom is in the heavenly realms. and yes, He will carry me away someday. =)
john lennon for got this line:
"imagine all the people imagining a better world instead of doing something to make it a better place..." Christians don't cause disharmony, people who hate Christ do.
And I am internally baffled at how you can take a book of ancient ramblings and think it is actually real. No I am sorry to say but he will not be carrying you away ever. No people doing human nature is what causes disharmony. And if you research it you will see that christians are right at the top of the pack.
"people doing human nature" -- what does this mean? i'm confused. so are secular people less humanistic than Christians? i'm sorry. this comment makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
No human nature is what is imprinted on everyone's brain. All the actions that people do both good and bad are simply part of nature nothing more. No deities or supernatural involvement. Although theists claim there is.
actually, Christians also believe that each person is fully responsible for his or her own actions, good or bad, and that no one can blame God or anyone else for their own choices made in free will. and each person will face judgement for thier actions, both good and bad, at the end of days. you can deny that, but i guess we will see which of us is right when the time comes... til then, i wish you the best. thanks for the chat. =)
What if your wrong about not believing that Mike Tyson is god, you could spend eternity after death in a ring getting punched in the throat by a pro boxer! We would not want that would we?
Well then maybe your god should have used the word people instead of man so that primitive people don't get things confused. Sounds like you are taking it out of context.
I'M taking it out of context??? wow. ok. well maybe people need to stop being so primitive and learn to understand the CONTEXT in which a word is written. tell me, is Martin Luther King Jr. a sexist pig for his use of the words "man," "sons," and "brotherhood" in his most famous speech? Oh, and how about The Declaration of Independence? oh and hrm... i'm seeing a trend here... "CREATED equal?" oh my, these fools must not have "deserved to live" by your standards, either... how tragic.
Exaclty people need to stop being primitive. Dump the religious fairy tales and the happily ever afters and grow up. One reason people always use "man" and "son" and "mankind" is because of the sexism in the bible. The koran is worse how would you like to have to wear 12 bathrobes all the time.
too bad more of the Bible's influence didn't seem to stick, or this world would be a much better place...
i don't have as much experience with the Qur'an as the Bible, but from my limited knowledge, i can tell you that it is not my book of choice. i'm not sure what you are getting at by bringing it into the conversation, except to make a weak attempt at a solid point... *epic fail*
Yes that thing about stoning everyone who works on the sabbath day would pretty much kill about all of the human race.
The thing with the koran is that there is just as many muslims who cling to that book as christians and the bible. Has you been born in a muslim country you would be defending Allah right now.
again, context is so vital in these arguments, but it's something you don't seem to have a concept of. Jesus came to fulfill the OT law of required punishment (aka death) for sin. after Jesus came, being stoned for ANY sin was no longer required. Jesus paid the price with HIS death on the cross.
and if i had been born in any country, the Lord of all creation would still have called my name and i would still have answered that call. i was not brought up Christian, i CHOSE God.
The blessings you have are because YOU have worked to get them. It is YOU who has done the work to get them. I have nice things as well. I am in the process of buying a house now. And it's all me!
btw, Jesus is my Savior, and i am not going to Muslim hell.
but you can have whatever faith or lack of that you choose. just know that Jesus loves you, He lived, died, and rose again for you, and He wants to give you eternal life in His kingdom. if you open your heart, you will see the Truth. i will be praying for you, that your heart may not be hardened and that you will accept the peace and love which only Jesus brings.
I used to be a christian so all that you said is nothing new to me. What is he going to do if I don't come back. Well being kind and loving I would have to say he will just erase me into non existance right???????
No. being a perfectly holy and just God who can not dwell with sin, He will cry over you as you choose to walk away from Him, and when you die, you will suffer eternal separation from His love and glory.
He is a merciful and gracious God, but He is also a holy and righteous judge. i would not want to put faith in a God who did not have these qualities--both love and justice.
I understand the eternal seperation from god but why the fire and brimestone? Eternal seperation can be had in a quiet room or even in outer space. Not even pastors could answer that question so I doubt you will be able to either.
i find it sad that you once had seeds of faith, but that the soil of your heart was unable to allow them to take deeper root...
and i don't say that to be mean or cruel, it really and honestly breaks my heart.
my hope is that one day you will return to God with a repentant heart. He will be there waiting for you with open arms and healing hands of grace and mercy.
Well it doesn't sadden me but it does amaze me how many perfectly smart and logical people can believe in a 4000 year old book over a book by modern and provable science. My hope is that one day you will realize you are living in a fairy tale.
the fire and brimstone is a metaphoric representation for suffering, because apart from God, there is no peace. seperation from God IS torment. somehow i don't see a "quiet room" or "outer space" as torment.
as for "a book," it's not "A book," it's 66 books written by more than 40 authors over a span of 1500 years, all conclusive to the same truth of the reality of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of man. you can't put 10 scientists in a room today and get them to agree like that.
Some christians think it is just a metaphor. Other think it is quite literal. While yet others think it is annihilation. Have you seen that only in the NT does the fire come in. They needed a stronger scare tactic. There is no crime that deserves eternal torment. Your non existant god needs to understand this. You are better than he is I know it.
in essentials: unity, in nonessentials: liberty, and in everything: charity.
honestly it doesn't make a lick of difference whether or not the torment of eternity without God is literal fire or not. EVERY and ALL crime deserves eternal torment. ("for the wages of sin is death" --speaking of the "second death" aka eternal torment) that is why we need Jesus. you think i am "better?" interesting. Jesus himself said, "why do you call me good? no one is good—except God alone."
Geez you really are brainwashed by this crap. So then would you torment people you love for all eternity just if they did some tiny little thing wrong?
no. i would torment people i love for all eternity for turning thier backs on me and not accepting the free gift of grace and forgiveness i was offering to them, which they refused to accept. you can't save somone who doesn't want to be saved. sad but true. God's grace and mercy are offered to all for every tiny and every not-so-tiny sin so that no one should have to suffer eternal torment. God's greatest desire is for all people to be saved (see 2 Peter 3:9), but He won't make you love Him...
and i should rephrase that, because i used your terminology. God Himself does not torment anyone, but allows them to be tormented because of thier own choice to reject His salvation from torment.
That is because you want a relationship. Whether it be with a flesh and blood man or a sky one. This is why most women are more relgious then men. I am suprised the writers of the bible didn't throw in a goddess for the men to worship. They didn't because women were treated like cattle at the time. You are aware that the bible is loaded with sexism right?
@Ilikejpgs yes, i am aware that the Bible is full of examples of various types of sin, including sexism, that is practiced by both pagans and God's people. that is why there is a need for grace and mercy from Jesus. Jesus himself was never sexist and never sinned. you can not base your whole understanding of God on His followers, because everyone has sinned except for Jesus. if you want to know God, look at Him, not at the foolish sins that pollute even the most righteous of His children.
@Ilikejpgs and yes, i do cherrish the blessing of having a personal intimate relationship with the God i serve. i would not want it any other way. ^_^
ok well, i was just putting my own veiws out there. I've never heard of a Pascal before, so whatever it is, I'm sorry if I offended you by stating my thoughts on what this video means to me.
Thank you so much for posting this song. This song touches me everytime I hear it. He gave so much and asks for so little. I am pleased to call myself Christian. Awesome video.

Atheism=selfishness.
crystalsky84 6 months ago
@crystalsky84 Your response = Willful ignorance at the highest level. "How do I know my god exists? Because he does! So there!" Great argument buddy. Keep fighting the sad fight. Us awful atheists will be busy actually making the world a better place instead of praying it happens by itself.
dpotter2113 6 months ago

GodShapedWhole 1 year ago
@ninegray Yeah, I think your right that correlation ≠ causation and that there are many Animistic peoples who are trying to appease 'gods'. I grew up in Papua New Guinea and witnessed the amazing difference between those who knew and lived for the God of the Bible and those who didn't. All remained animist in that their main values were spiritual dealings, family (relationships) & food rather than more material things. The difference was when something went wrong...
GodShapedWhole 1 year ago
@ninegray the history of Sweden can't be ignored when looking at where it is today. And even so, that one example is also counteracted by so many other countries where unreached tribes still practice canabalism, etc.
GodShapedWhole 1 year ago
A nice song well sung. Nicole Nordeman is very talented. But the premise is based what is known as Pascal's Wager This is a logically flawed concept. It assumes only two possibilities - either the Christian concept of God and the afterlife - or no God and after life. But what of other possibilities. What if, just for example, it turns out that Islam is right and Christianity is wrong?
dazzar15 1 year ago
my God is a God of love but also a God of justice. i wish some would realize what that means and all it entails and stop whining about the "wicked" god when it is their own sin that separates them from the Father. i wish they'd just be humble and repent so that they could share in the grace and love of God that is offered to all, but accepted by few. i wish i wish, but wishing is futile, so i will pray instead. :)
theredhead521 1 year ago

Shaun102578 2 years ago
@shaun
So it takes a deity to get you to be nice to people. Funny seeing as how I am being nice to people for no reason at all.
"an eternity of torture"
Yes from your kind loving god who loves me so much. And hey you might get and eternity of torture from allah if the muslims are right.
Your religion is one of fear. Serve me or burn forever.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
Isn't society the same way? Isn't government the same way? Follow the laws or go to jail. You don't speed by a police officer because you are afraid of getting a ticket.. I do see where you are coming from though. But true Christians don't serve out of fear, what kind of love would that be? We serve because He has called us to do so. I can't speak for any other pastors, or Christians, i can only speak of what God has done for me and my family and in my life. That's all I can provide. Sorry.
Shaun102578 2 years ago
Yes but human laws don't threaten eternal torture.
I like what *I* have done in my life.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
Human laws don't offer eternity either =)... Can't take away what isn't offered.
Shaun102578 2 years ago
But in relevancy terms, human laws do offer lifetime sentences and even death penalty's. So you don't go out and kill someone you really, really feel would be better off dead (a serial rapist) because you fear taking the law into your hands would land you in jail yourself.. Human laws offer freedom while on earth, but break the laws and your freedom is gone.
Shaun102578 2 years ago
Yes but not eternal torture.
I don't go out and kill them. Thats what the justice system is for. Which I am sorry to say is far greator then the justice system of your god.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
The justice system is so far beyond corrupt. I can't believe you even put faith in the justice system.. So much scandals going on at the supreme justice level that it would blow your mind. Money controls the justice system, politics control the justice system.
Shaun102578 2 years ago
I agree with you it is corrupt. I don't have faith in it all I have to do is turn on the court channel to know that it exists.
The christian justice system is no better.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
Keep in mind my friend, not everybody who says they are Christian are actually Christian. Some Christians use the name of God for power and fear tactics. Jesus told us that many will call His name in the final day and God will say I never knew you.. Meaning those people who say they know God really don't have a relationship with Him and you can't use them as a gauge as how a Christian should behave. The Bible tells you how a Christian should behave. But you are right. the justice system is sick
Shaun102578 2 years ago
Remember the source you are getting this from though.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
yeh it does say how u should behave beat talking back children keep slaves kill nonbeleivers how about u read the fucking bible it makes americas justice system look like a walk on the beach covered in lollipops and unicorns
patrickledford420 2 years ago
that would hurt walking on unicorns! Their horns look sharp =) And I would just eat the lollipops. Those sound good
.
Shaun102578 2 years ago
why do u want to serve such a evil and nonexistant being could it still be heaven if ur freinds or family were burning and u were in heaven either way ur gonna prove one of my points
patrickledford420 2 years ago
You didn't make any points, you just asked a question. =( God isn't evil, some men who "represent" HIm are. The Bible tells us of all sorts of false teachers, so if you take the words of the false teachers (and it could be a lot of people who are false teacher, I already have a short list of evil preachers) And my friends and family have their own minds, I have Christia friends and non Christian friends alike, they have free will and it isn't God's fault if they don't go to heaven =)
Shaun102578 2 years ago
i know they admit how sorry they are as people (not saying atheist r better although studies show more atheist = less crime u dont see them using that argument atheism bad for society lol) and they have to have a fear of punishment to be good people
patrickledford420 2 years ago
Never heard that stat of more Godless people = less crime. Cases can be made for both sides of the coin though. There are "good for society" atheists and there are "evil doing" Christians. But even Christians are told to stay away from such Christians. But I ask you this, how many Christians (just normal citizens, not powerful christians) are in prision? And not the ones who become Christians while in prison.....Christians have to abid by the laws of the land too. We are told by Jesus to do so.
Shaun102578 2 years ago
@Shaun102578 - my friend, i get where you are going with this, but my fear of hell does not stem from the risk of the flame, but of the loss of relationship with my God and Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit which now dwells in and with me. that's what Jesus suffered on the cross--complete separation from God for our sin. THAT is what the torment of hell is--separation from God, from His love, grace, mercy, peace, joy, and all His other indescribably abundant qualities.
theredhead521 1 year ago
@Shaun102578 - also, i don't serve God out of FEAR of anything. i serve Him out of love and reverence. i serve Him because He first served me. i serve Him because i owe Him my life, my soul, my all. you will never convince others by using fear tactics and warnings of hell. to them, hell is as real as leprechauns and faeries. what they need to see is not the threat of hell, but the reward of the love of God. i hope i am not offending you, just offering what i have learned in my meager experience.
theredhead521 1 year ago
@theredhead521 I'm not offended in the least, I understand and appreciate your input and your testimony (sort to speak) and I also agree 100%. Two things, I'm not really trying to reach people out of fear of the Lord or hell, just trying to compare the worlds way of regulating itself and God's way of regulating His people. God's government works in the same way as the worlds government. Reward and consequence. Secondly, the bible tells us many times that "Fear of the Lord is the heart of wisdom"
Shaun102578 1 year ago
@Shaun102578 -
you are right; man's government was modeled after God's. and there is no argument that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." however the beginning of a relationship with God is not rooted in fear or wisdom, but mercy and grace. the fear of the Lord is something that is developed and understood over time. that is why i believe that the scare tactics of hell and damnation are ineffective ways of evangelizing. but i agree, what you are saying is vital Truth. God Bless!
theredhead521 1 year ago
I can absolutely provide proof of the ressurected Lord Jesus, and the FACT that every word of the Bible is true and vindicated. I would give you this proof, except for the Fact that you would only spend your every waking moment trying to find some chink in it and trying to disprove it. So you see some people cannot be convinced no matter the overwhelming proof. If you would only open your eyes of understanding you too could see the TRUTH.
SistaAddie 2 years ago
@sista
No please tell me the proof of which you claim. Or will you simply say that if I would just believe then it would all make sense as pastors have told me before.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
@sista
Oh kind of like how you spend every waking moment of your life worshipping a fairy tale?
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
John 14:14 "The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you." NIV In the same way that God has called His people to serve, Satan has called his people to serve. Some eyes can't see the light because Satan won't allow them to be opened. I know Christians are to believe all can be saved, but fact is, that's not true. Only Gods chosen will see the Kingdom He has prepared for us. Keep the Faith Sister and God Bless U
Shaun102578 2 years ago
it isnt a man up in the sky that is gonna carry me away, it is HIS spirit dwelling inside me that will quicken the WORD living in me to RAPTURE me. EVERY knee shall bow And EVERY tongue will confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD. That includes unbelievers. Dont be left out
SistaAddie 2 years ago
@sista
Ok please present some solid proof of this. And how it differs from any other system of belief.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
actually it does say that. it says "Love your neighbor as yourself." that verse applies to men and women. the main reasons for much of the controversy about women in the Bible is the time and culture in which it was written, and the misinterpretation of the word "man" in the Bible. in many of the contexts that people use to discredit the Bible's veiw on women, the word "man" is intended to mean "mankind, humans, people" not "male."
theredhead521 2 years ago
oh, and in response to the comment about Jesus' perfection, the Bible clearly states that He who was WITHOUT SIN became sin for us, that we might share in the righteousness of God. and while it doesn't record every moment of His life, i have complete faith and trust that He was and is the spotless Lamb of God, offered as a willing sacrifice to pay the price for my sin. honestly, if there was a book that claimed to have a record of ANYone's every moment for 33 years, i'd laugh it off. =D
theredhead521 2 years ago
You said that word again. FAITH This is all you have. No evidence.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
yes. FAITH. it is the absence of the arrogance in thinking i know it all or that my puny human brain could ever attempt to comprehend the full glory of a magnificent God. it is trusting things that cannot be "proven" by some methodical equation or formula because they are spiritual truths that my brain has no concept of. Now faith is...the EVIDENCE of things not seen. my faith IS the evidence. and it's all the proof I need. if its not good enough for you, i apologize. (and no, i'm NOT sorry.)
theredhead521 2 years ago
No faith and arrogance go hand in hand. You are arrogant because you think you are right and all other religions are wrong.
And yes I am sorry but faith is not evidence. If you were in a trial and needed some evidence to proove someone's innocense then what would happen if someone said "I just have faith that he is innocent." They would be laughed at. Sorry but in the real world faith just doesn't cut it.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
my pride is not in and of myself, as i am sure you have seen. my pride in my faith lies in the Author of my faith.
His fingerprints cover all of creation.
theredhead521 2 years ago
oh, and in the REAL world, (as in ETERNAL life, and not just this whisp of breath that we have here) FAITH is the ONLY thing that will "CUT IT."
theredhead521 2 years ago
I have to go to work now but I will get back to you later.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
oops, i hit remove instead of reply on that last comment, please feel free to repost it.
but as for the proof you seek, don't worry my friend, He IS coming back, riding on the clouds in all His glory. but by then it will be too late to change your mind. "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
theredhead521 2 years ago
Well since the only place that says this is your book with who knows what auther or even if the authers were sane, then I guess the only thing you have is your faith in your fairy tale. Now for some reality. When you die, your dead. Gone. Out of existiance forever. You won't even be aware that you have wasted your one and only life.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
if there is nothing after this life, and i am "wasting" it, so what? what difference can it possibly make to you what i do with my life or how i believe? you are fighting against the REALITY of God so hard... what you believe is up to you. i didn't come to your page and start attacking you or your lack of faith. how is my faith in God hurting you, or anyone for that matter? why do you want to spend so much time telling me i'm wrong? what do you hope to gain? i'm tired of this pointless argument.
theredhead521 2 years ago
It's isn't you personally that I am attacking. I am attacking theism in general because christians are trying to get intelligient design and creation taught in school when there is obvious evidence against them. They are trying to force their beliefs on other people and interfering with other people's rights. Religion is holding back humanity as a species. Time to throw the fairy tales away and embrace reality.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
uh, ever seen the movie "Expelled" with Ben Stein? he is Jewish, not Christian, but the movie shows just how ignorant people are regarding the facts of intelligent design vs evolution. you really should watch it.
theredhead521 2 years ago
I haven't seen it yet. But I heard it had some bad reviews. He thinks that abiogenesis works by lightning striking a mud puddle. I'll watch it if you watch some of Richard Dawkins' documentaries.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
Richard Dawkins is a severely misled individual. i've seen his work and it makes me want to vomit. one has to question why he is so adamant against Christianity... if my faith is foolishness, what is it to him, or to you? i still wonder how my personal belief system could be so important to complete strangers. what are you so afraid of that you have to try to prove yourself and your veiw to me and discredit my God? again, i did not come after you to try to beat you with my Bible. you came to me.
theredhead521 2 years ago
No Richard Dawkins is one of the smartest people on the planet. If you want to look up a mislead person then google William Lane Craig.
Hey as long as you people keep your beliefs out of politics and schools than I am pretty much alright with it. Of course it really isn't healthy to live inside a fantasy either.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
why are you in a country founded on "In God We Trust" if you don't want God in the politics and schools?
why do you bring William Lane Craig into the conversation? just like me and you, Richard Dawkins, or John Lennon, no one is infallible. i don't agree with every single thing he does, but all in all, his work in apologetics is fascinating. but that is beside the point. i think our little discussion is more an issue of our own faith (or lack of), so lets keep this from becoming an orgy.
theredhead521 2 years ago
"In god we trust" was added illegally to money back in the 1950's. This country is founded on seperation of church and state. This requires that ID be kept out of the classroom. Perhaps I will go to your church and teach evolution if people want them to be blended.
You have faith in the supernatural which has never ever once been proven to be true.
I have knowledge of reality which is true every second of everyday.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
i didn't say anything about the money... hrm, context, context-- a concept alien to you, it seems. sigh.
i would LOVE for you to come teach a class on evolution at my church! i think our kids could use the full veiw on things like that. i wish more people embraced knowledge in both sides of the story so they could make an informed decision. i hate it when either side is running blind.
when can you come?
theredhead521 2 years ago
I am happy to embrace new knowledge. But it must of course be knowledge and not make believe.
I don't have any training to know how evolution works in the technical sense but I do know that it and religion are not compatable.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
aw thats too bad. i was looking forward to meeting you and having this little chat face to face. =(
oh well. the conversation is becoming inane, anyway, so i think i will just call it quits and let the seeds settle for a bit. my email adress is bemycatalyst-2cor517 @ yahoo (.com) hit me up if you ever blossom. =) take care.
theredhead521 2 years ago
Ok you do realize that I was joking when I said I was going to come to your church right?
My point was that school is the place to learn about reality and science and church is the place for the fairy tales.
Hopefully my seeds will settle into you. No pun intended. Let me know if you grow up.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
You are correct, creationism and evolution-ism cannot co-exist. But it's funny you put all your Faith in an evolutionary theory you don't even understand but mock Christians for putting Faith in something true Christians have seen and experienced. Even Christians know how evolution works, we just don't buy into it, because it changes year to year. Now! they say monkeys and humans came from the same specie... They don't know which specie though... But Christians do. We came FROM OUR CREATOR.
Shaun102578 2 years ago
@shaun
I bet I understand it more than you do. Seeing as how mine has actual evidence to support it where as your has zero.
Monkies and humans have a common ancestor.
"we came from our creator"
And you know this how? I guess because it says so.....in your book.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
and the bad reveiws on "Expelled" are because some people can't handle the Truth. since i've already seen Dawkins, you can make your way to the movie rental store, now, right? lol, i doubt you will. you don't want to hear the Truth. you've made up your mind and hardened your heart and you're just trying to get others to doubt their faith to make you feel better about the fact that you are too scared to believe. but just so you know, your friend Dawkins made a real ass out of himself in the film.
theredhead521 2 years ago
No I said I will watch it and I will. I will order it from amazon. If you seriously think that evolution and abiogenesis are wrong then you need to research them.
It is you who have made up your mind to believe in your fairy tales and not embrace reality.
No Ben Stein is now known as a moron to every smart person.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
i never said i don't believe in evolution or abiogenesis. fyi, i do believe that adaptation (but not evolution), is an insintric part of how God manages His creations, and the idea of abiogenesis is vital to the creation of man. God took dust, formed it, and breathed life into it, thus creating life from non-living matter. =) God is so cool! so you see, science and religion are not enemies, they are soul mates. that is what many in the world (on both sides of the fence) fail to realize.
theredhead521 2 years ago
Ah now you sound like a theistic evolutionist. You accept the results of modern science yet still cling to your silly faith so you just combine the two. Of course by doing this you are going against the bible.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
Where did you see Dawkins? In the movie expelled? He only had a very small part in that movie. I meant you need to read his books or watch his documentaries which can be found on youtube.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
i have watched several of Dawkins' discourses and read some of his works. i am not an ignorant twit that makes false assumptions based on speculative gossip or one-sided portrayals. =) the most applaing was Dawkins' probably most famous, "The God Delusion." chapter 2 made me wanna barf. and the further i read, the greener i got. his arrogance and ignorance are absolute. my prayer for him is that God humbles him before it's too late.
theredhead521 2 years ago
Sound like me whenever I read any of the bible or hear a pastor and his sermon. The vomit does tend to move in the northern direction. My hope for you is that soon you will see reality and throw away the fairy tales.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
look, my faith is SOLID, UNSHAKABLE, IRREVOKABLE.you're not going to say anything that will change my mind. i KNOW God. i know you have no concept of what that means, and it breaks my heart that you are missing out on His unending love, amazing grace, unchanging mercy, and supernatural peace. and for what? so that when you die and cease to exist as you claim you will, no one will think you were a fool for your faith? what if you are a fool for NOT blelieving? listen to the song; think about it.
theredhead521 2 years ago
"it breaks my heart"
You heart has nothing to do with your emotions it is your brain that does. It does baffle me how a grown person like yourself will say I know fairy tales are just for children and then turn right around and say there is a man living in the sky who will carry them away one day.
Perhaps you should listen to the song "imagine" by john lennon.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
ok, again, you're overthinking this. "heart" refers to the core of my being, not a vital organ in my body. i am internally broken in knowing that you are missing out on the gift of God. God is not in the sky, His kingdom is in the heavenly realms. and yes, He will carry me away someday. =)
john lennon for got this line:
"imagine all the people imagining a better world instead of doing something to make it a better place..." Christians don't cause disharmony, people who hate Christ do.
theredhead521 2 years ago
And I am internally baffled at how you can take a book of ancient ramblings and think it is actually real. No I am sorry to say but he will not be carrying you away ever. No people doing human nature is what causes disharmony. And if you research it you will see that christians are right at the top of the pack.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
"people doing human nature" -- what does this mean? i'm confused. so are secular people less humanistic than Christians? i'm sorry. this comment makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
theredhead521 2 years ago
No human nature is what is imprinted on everyone's brain. All the actions that people do both good and bad are simply part of nature nothing more. No deities or supernatural involvement. Although theists claim there is.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
actually, Christians also believe that each person is fully responsible for his or her own actions, good or bad, and that no one can blame God or anyone else for their own choices made in free will. and each person will face judgement for thier actions, both good and bad, at the end of days. you can deny that, but i guess we will see which of us is right when the time comes... til then, i wish you the best. thanks for the chat. =)
theredhead521 2 years ago
Thats fine just realize that the rapture was supposed to happen not long after Jesus' supposed resurrection.

Well then again there is the kool-aid man.
And Tony the Tiger
And the keebler elves.
And Ronald McDonald.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
Well then maybe your god should have used the word people instead of man so that primitive people don't get things confused. Sounds like you are taking it out of context.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
I'M taking it out of context??? wow. ok. well maybe people need to stop being so primitive and learn to understand the CONTEXT in which a word is written. tell me, is Martin Luther King Jr. a sexist pig for his use of the words "man," "sons," and "brotherhood" in his most famous speech? Oh, and how about The Declaration of Independence? oh and hrm... i'm seeing a trend here... "CREATED equal?" oh my, these fools must not have "deserved to live" by your standards, either... how tragic.
theredhead521 2 years ago
Exaclty people need to stop being primitive. Dump the religious fairy tales and the happily ever afters and grow up. One reason people always use "man" and "son" and "mankind" is because of the sexism in the bible. The koran is worse how would you like to have to wear 12 bathrobes all the time.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
too bad more of the Bible's influence didn't seem to stick, or this world would be a much better place...
i don't have as much experience with the Qur'an as the Bible, but from my limited knowledge, i can tell you that it is not my book of choice. i'm not sure what you are getting at by bringing it into the conversation, except to make a weak attempt at a solid point... *epic fail*
theredhead521 2 years ago
Yes that thing about stoning everyone who works on the sabbath day would pretty much kill about all of the human race.
The thing with the koran is that there is just as many muslims who cling to that book as christians and the bible. Has you been born in a muslim country you would be defending Allah right now.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
again, context is so vital in these arguments, but it's something you don't seem to have a concept of. Jesus came to fulfill the OT law of required punishment (aka death) for sin. after Jesus came, being stoned for ANY sin was no longer required. Jesus paid the price with HIS death on the cross.
and if i had been born in any country, the Lord of all creation would still have called my name and i would still have answered that call. i was not brought up Christian, i CHOSE God.
theredhead521 2 years ago
What if you're wrong and go to muslim hell?
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
then it will have been worth it to have the blessings in my life that my Jesus has given to me.
theredhead521 2 years ago
The blessings you have are because YOU have worked to get them. It is YOU who has done the work to get them. I have nice things as well. I am in the process of buying a house now. And it's all me!
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
i was not referring to material possessions. =)
btw, Jesus is my Savior, and i am not going to Muslim hell.
but you can have whatever faith or lack of that you choose. just know that Jesus loves you, He lived, died, and rose again for you, and He wants to give you eternal life in His kingdom. if you open your heart, you will see the Truth. i will be praying for you, that your heart may not be hardened and that you will accept the peace and love which only Jesus brings.
love in Christ,
Jen
theredhead521 2 years ago
Well Jen
I used to be a christian so all that you said is nothing new to me. What is he going to do if I don't come back. Well being kind and loving I would have to say he will just erase me into non existance right???????
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
No. being a perfectly holy and just God who can not dwell with sin, He will cry over you as you choose to walk away from Him, and when you die, you will suffer eternal separation from His love and glory.

Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
no. i would torment people i love for all eternity for turning thier backs on me and not accepting the free gift of grace and forgiveness i was offering to them, which they refused to accept. you can't save somone who doesn't want to be saved. sad but true. God's grace and mercy are offered to all for every tiny and every not-so-tiny sin so that no one should have to suffer eternal torment. God's greatest desire is for all people to be saved (see 2 Peter 3:9), but He won't make you love Him...

You are on sick POS you know that? You don't deserve to live in this country or even live at all for that matter.
Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
and i should rephrase that, because i used your terminology. God Himself does not torment anyone, but allows them to be tormented because of thier own choice to reject His salvation from torment.

oh, and as for my fairy tale, i don't mind letting the Creator of the universe be my Knight in Shining Armor. =)

Ilikejpgs 2 years ago
