I remember when this song was first released. I was one of the 1st to hear it. At the time, I thought it was alright. It's not the most upbeat song. The song has so much feeling. I related to the words of her song so much at the time. Her song made me feel like I had a friend that empathized with what I was going through. I love Fiona Apple.

It's from the "bootleg" version, it's downloadable just search google to find it :) has all the "unreleased" tracks from it. One of her best albums yet.

I think this is the best version, it's the first one I heard and the first one I loved. Granted I could never hate any of her songs but this is much, much better.

I love the melancholy of this version.. It's a bit slower I think.. And it's a little more raw. But otherwise I prefer the official versions. They are like a little bit more focused. They were doing the songs and the early versions are great. Fiona herself said that she loved them, but she didn't think it was the way the songs were meant to be played. But she really wasn't sure how she wanted them to sound and you can hear that.

They're almost like two completely different songs, this one unquestionably being the better of the two. I wish this song were released in this style, it has much more emotion and she sings it like she really feels exactly how the song sounds, if that makes sense... In other words, she is completely 100% genuine.

i remember one morning, back when the official album had not been released, I was getting ready for work, I listened to this song for the 3rd time and I remember the feeling it gave me, it was a narrative existing in Fiona's fantasy music world, inviting somewhat painful, rewarding. This song contains Fiona's best piano work. The mesmerizing use of dissonance is unlike anything I've heard from anyone, nor from any time - strung together with a hauntingly dispassionate and hopeless delivery - it's nearly perfect. The vibraphone on the final version of the song was an inspired addition to the song - it was very Brion-esque and I'm surprised he didn't throw it on this version of it to begin with! This is still the better version.

I prefer the unreleased Brion version of the album. The rest sounds un-canonized, or unemotional. Therefore, I'm quite pleased they're here. I wish you'd offer mp3's as well. Maybe you could?

I like both versions although i prefer the edited one and i gotta say i think a lot (but not all) of people just say they like the bootlegs more to be more indie and retain their cred. I've seen interviews with both fiona and jon brion saying they dont like the bootleg of extraordinary machine being out because it wasnt the sound either was after so what I'd really like to see is the completed brion version.

I'm not one to bitch about suits messing with an artist's vision, but her producers absolutely ruined this song. I am so glad that this version is the first I heard and the one I think of when I think of this song. Such a shame.

Is she ever going to tour again or make another album or has she gone off the deep end or something?

In one interview that she did in 2008 that is available on itunes she kind have may have hinted tords a new album in the future when earlier i think she said she is finished. i don't think she has any serious plans for a new album and from what i know is that she isnt the biggest fan of touring so I kind of doubt she will go on tour again. But i hope she does!

This version is sooooooo much better than the released version. The ending has those November Rain violin dynamics that give us all the chills... while the released ending has those cheesy vocals. This one is far more emotional and real. I would imagine also because it was recorded in 2002... whereas many years passed when she recorded the released version... she had time to let this emotion wear off. This one is far superior.

@zachariot I watched an interview of Fiona Apple and she states that she wasn't happy with this production of the album, however someone who she suspects is close to her leaked the album out in it's current stage to get the ball rolling.
