Middle East is Bush Senior's fault. Reagan stopped funding Iraq after the Iran-Iraq war. He didn't like what Saddam was doing with the money we were giving him. Although I think the stimulus bill could have been much better, if, for example, the unemployment rate would have been significantly higher without the bill, then I wouldn't say it was unsuccessful. In other words, a high unemployment itself does not prove your point that the bill was unsuccessful. Cool talking point, but not a convincing argument.

Now we will have to pay for a 900 billion dollar tax bill that did nothing but pay for Reid and Pelosi's pet projects. 900 billion is roughly 3 times the amount spent on the Iraq war.
The stimulus actually slowed the rate of unemployment by a fair amount. It is roughly on pace to reach its goal of jobs saved or created, though as of now, it is saving many more jobs than it is creating. Many economists believe that is because the bill didn't spend enough, and some of the things it spent on don't go directly into the economy. If you expected the stimulus bill to start lowering the unemployment rate within 8 months, you are naive. It is incredibly hard to get an economy moving.

Middle East is Bush Senior's fault. Reagan stopped funding Iraq after the Iran-Iraq war. He didn't like what Saddam was doing with the money we were giving him. Bush Sr. got in office and convinced congress that we needed Saddam's oil, therefore we started supporting and funding him again. The main thing that screwed us in the Middle East is the post WWII deals our gov made all through the 1950's. Those people (middle east) really grew some hatred toward us.

An unemployment rate of 10.2% doesn't necessarily mean that the stimulus bill was unsuccessful. Although I think the stimulus bill could have been much better, if, for example, the unemployment rate would have been significantly higher without the bill, then I wouldn't say it was unsuccessful. In other words, a high unemployment itself does not prove your point that the bill was unsuccessful. Cool talking point, but not a convincing argument.

The stimulus actually slowed the rate of unemployment by a fair amount. It is roughly on pace to reach its goal of jobs saved or created, though as of now, it is saving many more jobs than it is creating. Many economists believe that is because the bill didn't spend enough, and some of the things it spent on don't go directly into the economy. If you expected the stimulus bill to start lowering the unemployment rate within 8 months, you are naive. It is incredibly hard to get an economy moving.

I think that this country would be better under democratic policy. We'd have less debt, better schools (republicans deny evolution, c'mon), smaller military, and better infrastructure (which has been neglected for the past decade). Obama needs to stay right were he's at and push forward on his objectives. Forget the idea of bipartisan.

Oh please, Illinois' state avg. is at the national average, well according to NAEP. But who trusts them, their the government (that's sarcasm btw). This country's infrastructure is horrible. Bush said himself, he did not believe in "nation building", so that's why we're behind almost every developed country in regards to education and status of our infrastructure. Other countries have better more fuel efficient vehicles, better public transit and better communications.

Listen you little whore. The reason we still have a military base in Germany is to fullfill our NATO obligations as well as being able to deploy troops anywhere in the world on a moments notice. I think you've misunderstood a bit here, Welfare helps keep people off the streets and getting them into college. Take away a desperate person's welfare leaves people no choice but to turn to crime. Now YOUR money is going to pay for his prison sentence, meals, public attorney, foster care for his kids. In addition you now have a crime problem, leaving you with declining housing values and more tax money for increased law enforcement. But I guess at least you're not helping anyone.

That means two for marines, two for army, and none for navy. Now explain the other 11 bases and 42 military installations. Don't worry, I'll wait.
