I haven't seen this series, but you all would love and should read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown. It took me over a month to read, as I could only read a little at a time before becoming so sad and angry. It is the history of how the west was lost, as seen through Native eyes. And it is written by a white man.
Being repeated on BBC2 now!! i just wish it showed more on Prairie Fire and Naomi...i've just ordered the book so hopefully will find out more then xx
This is an amazing video made for an amazing (and very sad) movie. AvalonMedieval, you did a great job! I've watched this several times, and it brings tears every time.
What they have done to us is beyond what Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Mao, Napoleon, and even Idi Amin was more terrible than what they done to the Native People of America.
Hi, Avalon! Video is great! I adore this movie! But I have a question. From wich are the screens from 4:54 to 4:57 with Naomi,Prierie Fire and their child? In the version that I watched these scenes are absent. And it is a pity because their story left unsaid. I would be very grateful if you would answer.
@AkSena87 Their part got cut. When the uncut version becomes available, I hope their ending is included. The scenes you are asking about were took from the trailer that was on the 4th DVD from the TNT release. Soldiers attack the village and force Naomi away from her Cheyenne family. She was supposed to have escaped and returned to the Cheyenne village but I do not know if the soldiers murdered her husband and baby. The story is in the book that came with the DVD set.
@AkSena87 I finally found my book and yes her husband was killed when the soldiers attacked, but her child lived. The soldiers forced Naomi away from the village. She killed one of the soldiers when he tried to rape her and disappeared into the night. I assume she went back to her child because the child was not killed in the raid, a Cheyenne woman had took him when the soldiers captured Naomi.
Why did the Indian suffer? Motherearth please fogive the arrogant and the white man.

I am saddened by how inhumane people can be to animals, and to each other. So much ugliness.

@AvalonMedieval And The child probably also died. And what happened to Naomi is unclear.

@AkSena87 Naomi's story ends after she escapes the soldiers. You should order the book, it tells a lot more then the movie.

Bravo for this Avalon! You left me in tears. It is such a tragic story but I am glad it does end on a positive note.
