We know this hymn in Finland, too. It is one of my favourite hymns. Also my mother liked it - so it's good to commemorate her with this hymn because she died last summer being old and full of days. We in Finland have "the Saints' Day" usually in the first Saturday of November. Thank you for playing - you had the same sound as in Finland. :)

wow !! happy to see my thoughts echoed so many times.. I heard this tune sung in my church in India on harvest festival (for the hymn 'Lord of Glory Who has bought us'). I instantly fell in love with this ... The next year I played this hymn for the same service ... I was 14 back then..
This is one of mu favorite hymn tunes and "Alleluia! Sing to Jesus" and "Love Divine" are two of my favorite hymns. I love this hymn tune so much I named my dog after it. Really! We call him "Hyvvie" for short (in Welsh "f" is pronounced as a "v").
This is the hymn that made me want to play the organ... and the Gothique Suite by Boellmann, which was the first big composition for organ I ever heard. But primarily this is what made me want to play the organ!
To all who are reading this, I recommend that you click on organpipe8 and listen to much more of the wonderful music he plays. Truly wonderful. Thank You for your wonderful music organpipe8
AmosPressley wrote "A well-known poem also uses this tune: 'Jesus, what a Friend for Sinners' (Chapman, 1910)." Were you aware that there is another song which begins with the line, "Love Divine all loves excelling" which uses the same melody? It is hymn 657 in the 1982 hymnal. "Alleluia Sing to Jesus" is hymn 460.
A well-known poem also uses this tune: "Jesus, what a Friend for Sinners" (Chapman, 1910)
We sing it in our church with great gusto! Our electronic organ does a nice job, but every once in a while, we wish for a big pipe organ. No telling what we would o if we had one, We would probably blow the roof off the place.
NolePaul2006 wrote, "Alleluia Sing to Jesus! Another awesome rendition from you. I agree there is nothing like good organ music at Mass. Unfortunately in our diocese, I believe there are only three churches with pipe organs. The rest have electric or digital organs."
What diocese is that? The pipe organs are nicer, but the electronic organs can still serve the purpose. Are the churches in your diocese at least pretty?
When I was music director at a Catholic Church in the late 70's, I introduced this hymn and I was almost run out of the church by people say it was Protestant. Interesting someone here mentioned it was a good old Catholic Hymn. It's not, but its a great old tune.
One of my favorite Catholic hymns. I can't read music, but I can play this one by ear. I love your music. God has given you such a beautiful gift, and you use it to bring joy to others. If I may ask, where are you from? North Dakota here. God bless you.
I stopped going to church ages ago. The politics and hypocrisy pushed me away. But if I could go into a church and hear only what is beautiful and loving and right in the world, as you've expressed in your organ playing, I'd be born again. You're great, and I like the way you encourage your fellow organists on YouTube. Thank you for sharing your hymns here.
This is perhaps one of my favorite hymns ever, it's just such a wonderful hymn, and it sounds great on organ, but even better when you play it. Thank you so much for sharing, and may God Bless You! †
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. This past Sunday (April 27), I played this for the opening hymn. It is #392 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship in the Easter section. In the old Service Book and Hymnal, it was sung to the tune of ALLELUIA, composed by Samuel Sebastian Wesley. Just thought I'd share.
Thanks and glad to hear you are using the Headphones, this Organ has Spatial Separation which doesn't seem to come through without them and the Pedals sound nice too. †
OrganPipe: I haven't been connecting as well with my Catholic church as the past. We don't have ANY musical talent in our church, no organ, just a piano and a not-so-good singer. I can't get in to the worship and praise of God.
I have been listening to your posts for the last 2 weeks straight.
Many message me saying they only hear the organ on Christmas and Easter, the rest of the year, guitars and drums... I couldn't imagine going to a church and not hearing good Organ Music. Well there is always prayer, and maybe things will change, in the meantime, listen to my video's when you can.
You are so talented. I just love this Hymn. It is played at my Catholic Church here on Long Island (St Cyril and St Methodius)very often. I wish I had your talent. God Bless you and post more when you get a chance.
I have listen to you often, the music, playing, stop selections, timing, excellent, my only wish is you would do the same music performance on a large pipe organ, oh what joy that would bring. What organ is that? Its an electronic I can tell but what was make, brand...who makes it?
Thank you for your kind words, might do something in a large Church soon if I can borrow a Camcorder, these are made on my cheap Webcam. As far as the Orgam, so I don't have to explain every thing, it is all in my Profile. Please take a momemnt and read it and you never know what is coming soon so keep watching, might surprise you and make you very happy. Blessings !
I have several hymnals as well, and I have noticed each one is a bit different. I love this tune, and I learned it also as "Alleluia! Sing to Jesus". I remember STUTTGART being the tune for "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus" from the old UCC hymnal.
YES - at the early age of around 9 - I was playing this on the Piano, my poor Mother, 10,000 times... She was a Saint ( but I would catch her singing or humming it all the time too along with me playing it).
i love it

So nice Lance! I think this would be perfect for a postlude song at any service.
What stop did you use on the 2nd manual for the second verse. Sounded like a trumpet 8.
God Bless!
