@JamesTJoplin When I played it, it was a baritone horn. Our band didn't have a euphonium. But it definitely was not a trombone. That was nearly fifty years ago now! This was one of my favorite marches.
My wife played this in a US Army band back in the early 1970s. They all swore the composer was on acid. It really was one of the hardest marches they played, she says. I wonder if the composer can hold a composition in a key for more than 16 measures?

Whoa, Wilbur, where's the fire? Tempo WAY too fast, this march is not even close to marchable... more like a run..... makes for some messy playing due to that "I gotta catch up" feeling. Rookie conductor/director?
the atacks to the high notes for trombon is pritty bad and there not realy blending that well but its a hard as hell song and other than thats its pritty good
For those who say this is too fast, you are all a bunch of cry babies. Haha, j/k. Seriously, though, can you imagine an infantry unit marching at this pace?
Oh my gosh, I fear for my tongue now... We're playing this in our band, and we're going to play it for the parades... And I'm new to the high school band, being close to first chair... *cries silently*
@FistMeTV: Are you sure that you don't mean Loara 1968 Purple Carnival band? I'm not sure the school was even open in '62, and even if it was, they probably didn't have a marching band together yet (I'm Loara band class of '78). Whatever year it was, I definitely agree, Loara owned the marching scene in So Cal for quite a few years under Rick Marino.
Yeah.. these trombones are FUKKIN UP

The euphonium part for this is SO much fun to play! It's good to hear a piece that really features the euphonium.

I love when a composer exploits Euphonium. :)

@siLveRscOpe13x I don't think that that' a Euphonium. I think it's a Trombone. But hey, they are both great instuments

i thought this was suppose to be erraticly fast? isnt it a 'screamer' march? Great performance, needs a little work but a great try this time :)
danielwills93 2 years ago
Very impressive performance. And I though my high school wind ensemble was good (that was back in the 1970s). Well done.

Would not have left out the trumpet/clarinet/flute runs first time thru the first strain. Other than that, great performance of a killer march!

being a trombonist in the section when this piece was played I can safely say that it should NEVER be played this fast. EVER!
tbonezrule91 3 years ago 2
Yes it should!!!!
Sounds better faster.
redantuba09 3 years ago
@tbonezrule91 It's fun to play this fast on Trombone though. That is... If you can sound good playing it.
