One problem with being able to go 100-140 is that engine reliability goes out the window.

Most good engines run 60 mph @ around 2000-2200, and therefore last a long time. If you take the speed up to 120 you would probably be running around 4000-5000, which is much more work, and therefore much faster engine wear.

An average car/truck probably doesn't even make enough power to turn top gear much past 100 anyway, if that.
