I love this scene! It just completely hooked me on the show. I watched both seasons on Netflix in like one weekend. It was such an amazing show! You don't normally get this awesome quality (in acting, visuals, everything) in a television fantasy show.
Dude, this scene is what hooked me. I had seen part of the premiere on tv but didn't think much cause of the network it came on. Luckily, I decided to check it out when season 1 came out on Netflix instant play. I flipped it on and walked away from the tv, but I turned back when I heard Dennee scream Kahlan's name just in time to see her dodge the arrow. I raced back to the tv and didn't move for the next 2 hours. I nearly cried when I realized that was her little sister.
Great show if it was about somethng else. They changed every aspect of the story and just kept the names the same. Hey lets makedarken and richard brothers instead of father and son. Lets keep the story about Panis the same but change it at the same time so the timeline is all jacked up. Let's keep bringing back Darken and while we are at it lets ruin the whole Tolkinesque aspect of The Keeper and make him activly participate.

I'm surprised at how much was changed, but not really disappointed in the show. Its just a different take on the book. Even though many details were changed the main theme is the same and the characters were done well except Darken, who is much better in the book IMO. I also like how Kahlan is quite as self assured as she is in the show.
@julianwelton its True that the Show is Based on the Book but only a Few Episodes can be Compared with. The most episodes have thair own Story. Only the Characters are from the Book. I think only 7 Episodes are 1 to 1 from the Book

No wonder it lasted just two seasons and was cancelled when the books lasted for over a dozen installments. Hell there were almost as many books written for the series as there were episodes in the entire two seasons. Besides the TV series didn't even cover the events of the first book.
LotS wasn't canceled because of ratings...they were as good as could be expected when it was shown at odd hours or pre-empted by sports, and they were better than season 1's...but by backer Tribune's bankruptcy and Disney's treating it as a not-created-here orphan.
love bridget regan as kahlan! :) such a bad ass. best scenes of LotS have to be the richard/kahlan moments whether fighting togather or letting themselves love each other. hot couple very epic. the scenery is gorgous in the beginning.

LotS is but roughly based on the SoT stories...in terms of character, Richard, Kahlan, Zedd, and Darken Rahl are fairly true, but their histories and adventures are very much different. Only four or so episodes of S1 are derived from WFR incidents. However, LotS does do a good job in promoting at least some of Terry Goodkind's principles...it's a great series on its own merits, and it might help if you see LotS as a SoT alternate universe or parallel timeline.
Also, I wasn't too impressed with LotS until episode 8 ("Denna"); the earlier eps weren't terrible but felt lightweight, dealing more with exposition than character-driven stories. Watch through eps 8, 9 and 10 before deciding to continue or not.

this show is so very alive in canon(sp?) fiction on the net. Fantasy and more fantasy galore. I think all the cara/kahlan kookups & other couplings really pushes it out of the universe from the books. lol Probably, the reason i started looking at the series on tv.

@Eddie2446 Kahlan and Dennee turned off the main path just out of the view of Fain and his men (who didn't know that particular shortcut)...eventually they backtracked and soon caught up with Kahlan.
the captain was the best bad guy of the entire series; he was cunning, calculating and resourceful. i was really disappointed he wasnt in for very long.
The best scene in Legend of the Seeker is any one where Bridget Regan (Kahlan) gives into her passion and strips her cloths off and makes out with Richard. She is just a goddess, and Hollywood is stupid for not casting her in more high profile roles, which end up going to less beautiful and horrible actresses like Megan Fox.

LotS was never intended to be a literal (or even near-literal) adapation of the novels.
As far as the series is concerned, Richard's destroying the Book of Counted Shadows shows that he realizes that sacrifices have to be made...and dramatically the show is emphasizing Richard's (and the viewer's) journey of discovery without obvious landmarks to follow.
Pity it is so far from the book right from the start. Wizard's first rule is a great book, but this is more inaccurate than the Harry Potter films. Richard gets the book of counted shadows from his adopted father and when he has learned it off by heart he destroys it. The others don't know until the end that he ever had the book.
@equistera I know. It's seriously depressing. The books are really good up until the pillars of creation, I just found it took too long and you could skip vast sections and nothing had happened in the story. This is why fantasy is best in books, you can't properly convert it to the screen. LOTR made an amazing effort but still so many things that can't be adapted properly to the screen.
I hope this isn't advertising. The show IS NOT dead until the fans stop fighting for it! Join the fight to bring about the creation of a third season! We're getting attention! We can do it!

Okay let me get this straight, Richard Rhal is a scrawny little wimp, with the upper body of 14 yo boy, Khalan the mother confessor acts, and dresses like a pole dancer, she is actually taller than Richard, and the opening scene has NOTHING!!!! to do with the story!! When I heard that the sword of truth was being made I was very excited, only to find this piece of shit, very very very disappointed with Terry Goodkind, allowing this to be done to his masterpiece.

On the show, the senior Confessor among several, or one on a mission by herself, can wear white as she personally represents the Mother Confessor, so Kahlan (the senior) wears white while Dennee (her junior) wears black. The Mother Confessor herself has no superior, so she may wear white at all times.
the thing that bugs me about ppl making tv shows about books is all the subtle differences. When i see a tv show being made from the book it usually forgets all the subtle hints that add up throughout the book. They're some crucial parts in the first book that this tv show messed up so its not surprising they're discontinuing the show.
Since Megan Fox has officially been dropped from Transformers 3, and since the Legend of the Seeker has been cancelled, I think it is high time that Michael Bay got some common sense and hire Bridget Regan, from Legend of the Seeker, to replace Fox as Shia Labeoufs love interest. She is more beautiful than Fox, projects strength and intelligence which Fox doesn't have, and is quite frankly more beautiful than Fox. The choice is obvious.
in the book they are Married, and richard is a war wizard. so they can have sex,but it has to be unknown to them. nobody is sure, until the kiss in the first book. richards power can negate the power of the confesspr. the show does not follow the book
What makes Legend of the Seeker so great is the acting and fights. Also, the writers dosen't get away from the story by introducing aside things just to be like writers in the U.S. In other words, they don't deal with homosexual, lesbian and straight sex issues. They just write a heck of of a storyline. I'm hooked on the show. It's about the only thing I watch on t.v. today.
Read the books ...they are really great and explain the love between them and how they will end up.....dont want to tell any spoilers and plus who knows what will happen on the tv show...but i certainly hope so

even though the books tells a story quite different it's quite better.... sometimes I mix book with tv lol and sometimes I ask myself if some event I saw on the show or had I read it in the book lol

Brilliantly done. I wish I had seen this series from the beginning. How come I never even heard about it? Was there no publicity? I've started a FB page called "Save the Legend of the Seeker" to try to generate a wave of petition that ABC or another network may notice. Sign up!! Spread the word! This series deserves a third season.

Okay let me get this straight, Richard Rhal is a scrawny little wimp, with the upper body of 14 yo boy, Khalan the mother confessor acts, and dresses like a pole dancer, she is actually taller than Richard, and the opening scene has NOTHING!!!! to do with the story!! When I heard that the sword of truth was being made I was very excited, only to find this piece of shit, very very very disappointed with Terry Goodkind, allowing this to be done to his masterpiece.

@jagang31 actually it kinda does..it talks about the lord rahl and introduces kahlan and then later you find out that it was in fact cara who killed denee, kahlan's sister who you wouldnt know what the hell they where talking about if this scene wasnt here.

On the show, the senior Confessor among several, or one on a mission by herself, can wear white as she personally represents the Mother Confessor, so Kahlan (the senior) wears white while Dennee (her junior) wears black. The Mother Confessor herself has no superior, so she may wear white at all times.

the thing that bugs me about ppl making tv shows about books is all the subtle differences. When i see a tv show being made from the book it usually forgets all the subtle hints that add up throughout the book. They're some crucial parts in the first book that this tv show messed up so its not surprising they're discontinuing the show.

Since Megan Fox has officially been dropped from Transformers 3, and since the Legend of the Seeker has been cancelled, I think it is high time that Michael Bay got some common sense and hire Bridget Regan, from Legend of the Seeker, to replace Fox as Shia Labeoufs love interest. She is more beautiful than Fox, projects strength and intelligence which Fox doesn't have, and is quite frankly more beautiful than Fox. The choice is obvious.

in the book they are Married, and richard is a war wizard. so they can have sex,but it has to be unknown to them. nobody is sure, until the kiss in the first book. richards power can negate the power of the confesspr. the show does not follow the book

What makes Legend of the Seeker so great is the acting and fights. Also, the writers dosen't get away from the story by introducing aside things just to be like writers in the U.S. In other words, they don't deal with homosexual, lesbian and straight sex issues. They just write a heck of of a storyline. I'm hooked on the show. It's about the only thing I watch on t.v. today.

Think of it this way:
The "Last of the Mohicans" movie was a terrible adaptation of the James Fenimore Cooper novel, but it was still a great film.

i think the books are WAAAY better.
however, they are extremely different from the series, or should i say the T.V. series deviated from the books a LOT.
and the story is told in an 12 book series. that deters a few ppl.
but if you can stand reading 12 books (which i did, and i loved it) i think you should read it. much better than the tv series.

Great show, but one thing does bother me (and it's purely because I'm an art history major) but these women in thi stime period would not have been wearing such low cut dresses. Granted, they're not on earth, I guess, are they? lol... it is an AWESOME show, nonetheless!
