Nakitta can and does sing all three parts, she is what they would call in past days, a utility singer (much like all of the Kurt Carr Singers) meaning simply that she can sing all three parts, whatever is required of her.
I think the main point we can all agree on is that all of Kurt Carr's singers are versitle enough to stand in in whatever capacity is required at the time. I've seen them perform with as lttle as four singers, one of which being Vonnie Lopez, and they always cover all of the parts. None of his singers are to be undrerated, because they all have ranges out of this world that make them able to do whatever!

Tone-wise, therefore, it would sound better to have Shervonne (Strong), Timiney (Moderate), and Nakitta (LightER) singins sopranno, while Nikki (Strong) and Yvette (SoftER-Toned)blended the alto together. Troy frequently sings tenor with Kurt comming in if need-be. It's all about tone and sound.
while it does make sense to have a balance of different voices to "round out" a particular section for better "sound" the way you describe isn't the way Kurt would ever put that section together. It's ALL about balance my friend. Having three sopranos two altos and one tenor is imbalanced UNLESS (emphasis add) because one or more singers naturally overpowers or undersings the section should reflect as such! Such is NOT the case here.
Corey Briggs used to hold down the Tenor by himself when "Together", "Serious About It", and "No One Else" came out. Although it is true that Kurt often sings Tenor, he doesn't always.
The only problem with that is Timiney doesnt sing saprano, sometimes the alto not is to high for her and while yvette can sing alto she is a TRUE saprano

You are right when you say they switch parts. Great observation!!! Now at the One Church Recording I'm not too sure you're deduction of who is singing what is correct. Timiney will switch up to alto with Nikki and Yvette and Shervonne hold the soprano down. Now since Nikki and Nikkita sang God Blocked It...it is very likely that Yvette could've sang alto. I doubt it tho...I think if anything Kurt and Troy sang the Tenor...Tim sang alto maybe Yvette too and Shervonne sang sop.

We let our own feelings, and thoughts drive us to make decisions whether good or bad. We do not know the heart of our neighbors but we are required to love them and not judge them. There are so many other examples of how, WE, the Christian Community, places judgement others and ourselves without truly praying for the ones we judge.

I agree with TempleSaint-it's more similar to what Ella does as far as the jazz goes. I say this only because I've heard Nakitta do this live, and she mimicked quite a bit of scats from Ella's "How High Is the Moon"-which is NOT an easy task. It was awesome.
Not startin any competition but her scat is a lil more precise than Karen or Vanessa's. And those are 2 of my favourite singers. But Nakitta is REAL jazz, she's on some hardcore Ella/Betty Carter stuff.
Actually in the end Yvette and Nakitta are singing Saprano. Vonnie and Nikki are singing Alto and Timiney and Troy are singin Tennor. Nakitta initially went to the group as an Alto but she switches to Saprano when either one is leading or one is absent.

lol wow Nakitta...if God dagve you a gift..in her case singing in a differents tyle (scatting)...why not use it to God's glory. She does what she does well and everyone on planet Earth is not going to like her. Thats why there are lots of artists out choose who U WANT to hear. On the real, Nakitta Clegg-Foxx is awesome, and that's the bottom-line....it takes a lot of effort and practice, talent, and anointing to be able to sing like that, so Nakitta keep on keeping on, and let the haters talk, cause if truth be told, they can't do it themselves, and are just mad, cause you're doing something that is incredible

ok forget what you heard my friend nakita can scat she just didnt show everything she had on this video. when she and kurt carr come to our church she always does her new "style" of singing and it sounds great. i'm not saying she's an ella bcuz no one can be anyone else but i will say she's a Nakita and she's doing her thang!

Ella had a clarity in her voice that no one else has been able to come close too. You could understand every word she said. And scatting? I did because what she did was unnecessary! That smoke filled club style of singing isn't for the church. She was clearly in self and people are making excuses for her instead of pulling her coattail. Liking her to Ella is joke because at least Ella knew when to shut the heck up.

1st let's get this clear they were not in the church. And if God approves of her praise to him who are you to knock it? And who's to say that Traditional is the way of church! Its not about Tradition and singing I will trust in the Lord in three part harmony its about relationship and I know Nakitta very well and I know she wouldnt do anything to hinder the relationship that she has with the LORD! you probably need to check yourself!

Her scats were so clear and precise and EXACTLY like Ella. Man she need to release a gospel album with this feel. It would sell like bananas!!!

I agree with TempleSaint-it's more similar to what Ella does as far as the jazz goes. I say this only because I've heard Nakitta do this live, and she mimicked quite a bit of scats from Ella's "How High Is the Moon"-which is NOT an easy task. It was awesome.

Actually in the end Yvette and Nakitta are singing Saprano. Vonnie and Nikki are singing Alto and Timiney and Troy are singin Tennor. Nakitta initially went to the group as an Alto but she switches to Saprano when either one is leading or one is absent.

When the soprano section is heavy with crazy Soprano's like Kurt's group or the group that he put together for Byron Cage and Paul Morton what is Nakitta singing there...ALTO!!

yeah i know nikita usually sings alto but that would've put 3 of them on alto (Nikita, Vonnie and Nicki) Timoney and Troy (tenor) When Yvette or Shervonne isn't there Nikita sings soprano which is her actual voice part! she sings alto b.c she took Sherron Bennet's place! (the strong alto that left)
