  • I was lucky enough to be there, i was only in the 8th grade. Damn i will never forget it, Hakeem "the dream" Olajuwon is my favorite center of all time. Red Rowdy or Red Rowdie however you want to spell it, i'm a fan for life.

  • great series. feeling so high after this shot then feeling so low after game 6.. damn you stockton...

  • It seemed like the Rockets were always down early in a series, 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, but they always claw their way back, no matter the end result. Well done to them. Certainly one of the best NBA franchises of all time.

  • I remember this game. Eddie used to play for the Pacers. Greg Gumbel at his best: “JOHNSON AT THE BUZZER. GOOD!”

  • How impressive is the fact that this is only the SECOND most impressive 3 point buzzer beater of the series?

  • @JSelby what's the first?

  • @Jojoguy131 Without spoiling anything, look up the end of game 6 on YouTube.

  • miss you eddie..olympiakos gate 7

  • @G7ALANISG7 o Eddie to pistoli file mou....

  • Eddie, if you ever come across this video, know that your place at OLYMPIAKOS BC was never taken by anyone. You eill always be the bigest olynmpiakos lend of all times. We love you and we miss you fast eddie...

  • ALL NET!!!

  • 2:02--Watch Kevin Willis--wants to be sure he's part of the celebration. Runs over a teammate to get to E.J.

  • How much do you love Rudy T's reaction here?! LOL

  • Was eddie johnson left handed? Because if you check older footage of him playng for the super sonics and knicks he shoots the ball left handed? I only recall him playing for the Rockets and he shot the ball right handed.

  • eddie catch the ball in 0,8 and did it....deamn!!!!! this is "fast" eddie......

  • I remember this. Especially Rudy T running off the court with his fist in the air.

  • 1:36 XD

  • Chills...

  • AT THE BUZZER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Glory days of the NBA on NBC.. ABC sucks at broadcasting the games.

  • I remember watching this live when it happened. I always wanted Eddie to win a ring. He deserved one.

  • Eddie Johnsoooonnn!!Greetings from Greece,Olympiakos fans miss you!

  • Damn, I miss these Rockets... we'll be back next year...

  • @homeboi12 I dont think we'll ever get those rockest back again!!!!!!!

  • Epic.

  • MOMENTO INCRIVEL DA NBA NA HISTÓRIA

FANTÁSTICO EU VI ESSE JOGO AO VIVO

  • LMFAO how many playoff games did Brent Price get to watch from the bench as an inactive player in the late 90's early 2000's???

  • how come they show a game from 1997 but it talks about the 2006 world championship in the messages down

  • I used to play Super Tecmo NBA Basketball with my friends, and when I was the Seattle Sonics (my hometown), I'd keep giving Eddie Johnson the ball, and when we played LONG quarters, I'd score 200 points with him!

  • if you really think about it the first Three of Jordan's titles were realitivitly easy An old of their prime Showtime LA Lakers, and two one dimensional teams in Phoenix and Portland. Now the last three were challenges the Sonics(which Jordan had his worst finals performance and two tough series with the Jazz lets compare.

  • i love rudy t

  • @Deadshot089

of course it is lebron, kobe, or jordan shot are not always that good but u got that right

  • Eddie hit at the downtown from buzzer expires.

  • Why must Jim Gray ruin every great moment?

  • King of Kings...We still remember you here in Greece.....

  • Why did the rockets continuosly have that waste Charles Jones on their roster. The man was on that team for like 5 years and never did anything. If he did play, he would either turn the ball over or miss both of his free throws. He made easy money.

  • @MR917621 Well, Charles Jones did score 6 points in Game 1 against the Spurs in 1995. Considering the Rockets won that game by a single point, I'd say he was worth having on the roster.

I was at Game 3 of this series. The Jazz were already up 2-0 and destroying the Rockets early on, but Sedale Threatt and Eddie Johnson came in and went off. The fans were chanting "EDDIE! EDDIE!" all the way through the parking lot after that game. I imagine Game 4 was the same.

  • @doughbafett That was probably his career high as a Rocket. Rockets were a special team in 97. Too bad they never got the chance to play Chicago in the finals. This rockets team, with the size up front Olajuwon, Willis and Barkley would have destroyed the Bulls. Cheers

P.S. I forgot to mention Charles Jones :)

  • Probably one of my Top 3 All-Time favorite Rockets moments.

  • best moment of my life, they should play this in the nba commercials

  • horries game 4 winner against sacramento with lebrons against orlando and eddie johnson with stocktons game 6 winner are the best shots in playoff history.

  • epic win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yesssss!!

  • As a lifelong Bulls fan this is a great memory---seeing the great series of emotional clutch plays between these two great teams knowing that they are playing for second place since my Bulls would own the winner in the FInals.

  • @JZ2001JC easy to talk shit, when u have mjordan, and btw,im from portland, oregon, pippen will and always be pippen holding jordans dick, kobe bryant is 3 or 4 times the player pippen will be, look at pippen the bitchass in game 7 of the 2000 wcf, bulls had to work hard against the jazz, paxon and jordan hit the greatest shot out of both dynasties of the bulls, kerr was good too. pippen is like tommy gunn from rocky, hes a paper champion, a chump, will always live in jordans shadow.

  • @omhat. Maybe you should see Pippen single-handily WIn Games 5 and 6 of that 2000 WCF to carry your Trail Blzers out of a 3-1 deficit but eventually the WHOLE PORTLAND TEAM got cold at wrong time. Also Pippen basically led Bulls to 1994 Finals if not for BS officiating in Game 5 vs Knicks. How about Pippen's 9 time All Defensive Teams (1st Team). I agree Kobe is next best to MJ but Pippen may be the greatest all-around player ever. And yes if we have MJ I will talk trash.

  • @JZ2001JC pippen is a bitch they payed that douche 14 million dollars, pippen is good, but remember when mj left in 93, he said he was going to be better than mj, remember pippen with the hissy fit, with phil jackson against the knicks in the playoffs when tony kukroch hit the game winner. he wanted to take the last shot, what a sore loser, theres no i in team. rasheed was the heart of portland, if sheed could control his emotions he can be the one of thetop 20 players of alltime, lookathimindt

  • @omhat. If your GM wasn't a moron back in 1984 Draft then yes it would be you having MJ and talking crap instead of us but yall thought Sam Bowie was gonna be great (lol). Just like yall blew it with taking Durant over Oden.

  • @JZ2001JC hey dont think im a moron cuz my gm is an idiot, we had rapists ruben patterson, kemp with 10 baby mommas, now bankrupt, due to whitsitt, the bowie trade was genius lol. rasheed left portland, got a ring, jerome kersey won with san antonio in 1999, drexler with houston, u cant win in portland, only in 1977, the economy is in the shits in portland, like most places, they need to move jailblazers to another city.

  • @JZ2001JC yes the blazers are idiots, im not a blazers fan, im a houston fan, the blazers suck a bill clinton, its easy to talk shit when u have jordan, i respect jordan, but olajuwon is my favorite player, no one could move like him, shaq is an ogre, the admiral david is cut, tim duncan is the best team player in the league, hes so sound. rasheed wallace is the heart of portland, pipped did carry the weight of game 5 and 6, but almost doesnt count.

  • @JZ2001JC look at pippen meltdown in game 7, he let fisher beat him psychologically, punk bitch, and rick fox come on pippen, pippen with age should have wisdom, he backed down chicken shit, pippen didnt care to win, just get his money, that faggit almost was bankrupt this year. jordan much respect, the gr8one, kobe has earned his stripes, duncan has earned his. rodman made fun of him when he was in detroit, barkley punkd him in houston in 99, saying he has to win vicariously thru jordan

  • I totally miss the NBA on NBC.......remember the 1997 Bulls/Rockets game? we OWNED them. THAT should have been the finals, not the fucking Jazz....John fucking Stockton....

anyways......this is such a great memory, sitting around with my family....watch Eddie make the shot and we all just jump for joy, that was insane....as someone said in another thread...I miss those Rockets so much, shouldn't have traded for Barkley though....BAD move.

  • @maxeypad maybe if barkley was the barkley of the suns and the first dream team. no one will ever replace that dream team, magic, mj, karl, john, drexler, barkley, the peeps i just mentioned are just playing on the court except magic johnson. david robinson, patrick ewing, laetner, chris mullin, tim hardaway.

  • great memories of rudy t runninfg off the court with that hand up #1

  • @teesteven barkley gr8 player, but hes like enron a bad investment, why u dont put ur eggs all in one basket to give up horry and cassell, i wonder what would have happened then in 1997 if this did not happen the trade in 96, also hornacek got revenge on barkley, hornacek, andrew lang and tim perry were traded in the summer of 92 for barkley from pho to philly.

  • Damn what a sick pass and a better shot.

  • olympiacos fans dont forget you... !!

  • NBA on NBC Great Moments. Watching games on NBC you expect a great game you expect it to go down to the final seconds. Unlike today..blowout..not real exciting.

  • good old times, when they used to play basketball in the NBA...

  • ONE MORE THING! For real, they need to make one of those What IF commerical out of this play here!

    Thumb up if you agree!

  • Man, this was when basketball was BASKETBALL!

Rockets fan, I know we lost the series, but what a great rivalry this was! So fun to watch, always on pins and needles......going crazy one day and crying the next!

  • THERE'S ONLY ONE THING TO SAY ABOUT EDDIE JOHNSON: WHAT A GREAT GUY...

  • i wont never 4get how quick he got the shot off!

Most time u wanna take ur time, but they were runnin at him!

    Priceless mayne!

  • @shoes1922

I still have no idea how they managed to pass the ball that many times with that much patience and get that shot off! I went insane with that darn ball fell in! I was so pumped!

Even the announcers made things exciting back then!

  • Whats the name of the song being played in the arena during this whole possession?

  • No love for the Matt Maloney assist.

  • @XKG80 maloney was the bomb! great pass!

  • yeah true dat

  • Is this the same series where Stockton hit the game winning shot to send the Jazz to the finals?

  • @xpander2k

yeah you mean the one where malone held drexler? yup that would be the one.

  • @kshppatel : Yeah, well the Jazz got payed back a year later when Jordan pushed off Bryant Russell to hit "the shot".

  • Haha I love the announcer in this video!

  • I never liked utah because they always had our number after this series....but I dont see our rockets ever being this great for a while....but as much as I love my rockets of the 90's and till this day!...I must say the true team of the 90's were Jordan and his Bulls!

  • Its a shame that the Rockets and the Bulls never got a chance to face off against each other in the Finals...how great would that have been!!! The Dream against Air Jordan!!! Dont worry though, the Rockets are gettin closer and closer to getting back to the glory days of the 90's. We're just missing a couple players, that's all.

  • @Brian77TX the series that never was...i was hoping for bulls vs rockets too

  • That would have been a GREAT series. I would think the Rockets can beat the Bulls. Cause who can stop Hakeem? Luc Longley couldn't. lol

  • Ya, no shit!!! And you know Vernon Maxwell had MJ's number throughout his career!!! It would have gone 7 games with the home team winning all of them. Hopefully the Rockets would have had that advantage!!!

  • Does Gumbel say "YEAH" or "GOOD" when EJ hits the shot???

  • He said "GOT IT!"

  • @ThaShark316 ahh no he doesn't he says one word, either "YEAH" or "GOOD"

  • Greg Gumbel had a great call at the buzzer. Hope he pull through the cancer battle.

  • Nah that's Bryant Gumbel that has cancer...

  • My favorite moment as a Rockets fan (that I saw live)

  • yea and then fuckin Stockton hit a similar shot that finished the series.....fucking jazz,i never liked them lol Jazz is a shitty name for a pro team lol

    Rockets are sick!

  • SOMETIMES I FEEL THERE WONT BE A TEAM LIKE THE ROCKETS WERE IN THE 90s

  • I think you mean the Bulls don't you?

  • I agree neither as the Bulls and Jazz, or I don't even think the NBA will be like the

90's were. I fucking miss those days especially NBA on NBC.

  • goosebumps!

  • That's some calm ball movement :)

  • WOW- that was a nice shot

  • i remember this. eddie was a man possesed but in fairness john stockton hit a game winner against houston in this same series.

  • eddie 4ever!

    never forget u!

    O L Y M P I A K O S

    GATE 7

  • Hell Yeah!!!!!!! GO ROCKETS!!!!!!!! Jazz still have zero championships. BTW, who's the play-by-play guy for this game?

  • bill walton, greg gumbel, and someone else i forgot

  • snapper jones

  • EJ was very clutch and this was a classic hard fought game. He's now a great analyst for the Phoenix Suns. EJ is a class act

  • Of course, Jim Gray has to jump right in the middle of the celebration @ 1:04 to get that all important post-game interview. If the NBA on NBC had one fault, it was Jim Gray.

  • EDDIE..EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE..one of the best rocket games...CLASSIC..even tho they lost the series..BUT THEY STILL OWNED UTAH

  • Love to come here again and say.....

"Man,...This was where I love this game"

    Classic shot,it's just classic.

  • This is better than Lebron's.

  • @Deadshot089 ma va!!!!! Lebron the best!!!1

  • What happened to Houston's crowd? They used to rock the Summit...with the exception of that Laker game, they don't have the same energy. BTW...that '97 series is very underrated. Two buzzer beaters and a lot of good basketball

  • this is still amazing...

  • perfect style,

    perfect body balance,

    perfect position of his waist,

great attitude asking for the ball,

    he is the man!

Thanx for all those great moments you gave us while playing in Greece with Olympiakos BC.

The best shooting guard in Europe ever...

  • My favorite sports moment. I still talk about this play to this day

  • its amazing that the rockets did it without olajuwon =D...but they lost the next to games...=(

  • "ED-DIE, ED-DIE, ED-DIE, ED-DIE..."

  • NBA on NBC was the best... greg gumbel needs to be doing play by play again hes great at it

  • eddie thanks for the great memories!we will be always one of the best players who played in Olympiakos!

  • GO rockets!!Those were the days.....i really miss the rox doing damage in the playoffs....hope they make it far this year

  • Eddieeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Man that rockets team was stacked. They should have made it to the finals that year with that lineup.

  • Eddie we love you!!!!! Olympiakos fans!!!

  • Eddie so many years have passed and we still remember your killer shots!Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!Olympiakos fans

  • we love you 4 ever.olympiacos fans

  • one of the best player ever . he played at my team at olympiakos greece and he was simply the best in europe !!!! love him as a player and as a person!

  • Eddie Johnson was the man back then. Very valuable bench player.

  • Eddie Jonhson...a great athlete...we 'll always remember you here in Greece...OLYMPIAKOS 7!

  • i doublt the plan was for EJ. that should be a hakeem's or clyde's play but eventually they couldn't bring the ball to one of them.

  • why are the rockets playing in their PJs?

  • i always hated those hideous uniforms. they shuda kept their old ones

  • Yea they were dumb to change uniform the next season after WINNING back to back titles.

  • They weren't pj's, they just were playing in ridiculous uniforms?

  • LOL!

  • clutchin up in clutch city

  • Lol... two games later...

  • lol...the Jazz still suck...

  • lol...6 games later after the 2 games you're talking about...

  • Optometrists really are working wonders with corrective lenses these days.

  • clutch city baby

  • Even as a Jazz fan this shot is amazing!

  • Houston, TX: We were there also. Sitting in the upper promenade. At the good ole Summit. Rockets fans went from this to Stockton in game 6. STOCKTON AND MALONE WILL ALWAYS SUCK.

  • I remember... because I was there

  • seriously you were there, im a houston fan, but i wanted to see utah win, john stockton and malone classy guys, drexler got the title at least.

  • what a shooter!! we loved him as a God in Greece and we still do!! You are always welcomed here in Peiraius Eddie!! Akoma oi pelates klaine, na'kseres posa spitia ekleises!!!! Thank you for everything! Olympiakos BC

  • Man , i can't believe

I remember that the day that Thailand shooted this game (even replay tape),I did my homework at my teacher house.

That time, I just like a kid who crazy about basketball and NBA.

In this series, I cheered the rocket and when this shot went through the hoop, I just made unconciousness scream 555+

for ever in our hearts eddie "the killer" johnson

  • Eddie tha eisai panta sthn kardia mas.Oi bazeloi sto final four ths zaragoza se eniwsan gia ta kala sto petsi tous!!!...Thanks for the memories!

  • Aftos einai file. O enas kai monadikos.

  • these really were the days

  • AGREED! :)

Watching these games (despite knowing the outcome) gets the adrenaline pumping, the heart thumping, and your stomach in your mouth...These are the days I long for...

  • aftos o eddie einai aftos pou epaize ston olympiako?

  • Those were the days of good basketball announcing. The tv personalities has gone to hell. Marv Albert is always talking about Kobe during a Rockets and Jazz game. Doug Collins is always jocking on the Lakers cock and everyone else is talking about irrelevent bullcrap. Basketball will be watchable again if they get old school type announcers who are actually into the game.

  • Marv Albert was much better back in the day.

  • When Eddie played in Greece, he hit clutch shots that are still remembered, 13 years later. It was business as usual.

  • i remember this was a game and a half. i was so pissed he made that.

stockton totally made up for it though haha

  • Eddie Johnson played in Greece some years ago. He was 36, but really made a difference. 12 years later, I still think that only Reggie Miller was a better clutch shooter...

  • i was 9 when i saw this game, i remember it like it was yesterday. i miss that rockets team.

  • i was 9 when i saw this too...those were the days.

  • I was also 9. Even if I was a Pistons fan (1997 was a heartbraking year)

  • What happened to the NBA?...It was at its peak during the late 90's...I miss it!

  • All of these teenagers came into the league, notice the teams that made the finals in the late 90's were made up of guys in their late 20's/early 30's, now it's teams who's key guys are early to mid 20's

  • One of the top moments from the playoffs that year!! This was actually a great series!!!!

  • Incredible shot by Eddie Johnson!

  • that game 7 seemed fixed y the fuk didnt they foul with 11 seconds left

  • ya make up lame excuses. jazz won fair and square not to mention they didnt have home court. so ya. utah kicks ass.

  • jazz did have home court against the rockets unless you're talking about against the bulls.

  • fuck the utah jazz. AK-47 cries too much just cuz he doesnt get the ball. wat a fucking fag.

  • dude screw kirilinko! no one likes him! its pretty sad you hate the jazz cuz of him... i love the jazz but hate him. everyone knows hes a pussy

  • by the way im sure there is alot to do in utah...

  • haha actually there is a lot to do in utah. oh ya and in case u didnt notice, jazz beat golden state tonight :)

  • lol and i also just realized the game isnt over yet...

  • ok ya the jazz did win but it was one hell of a game.

  • they suck because there gonna get there ass kicked by golden state anyways.

  • yeah ok jazz still suck!!! and anyone thats from utah does too...is there even anything to do in utah? i dont think there is...

  • pretty sure im from utah and wut is there to do anywhere else thats not in utah? and why do the jazz still suck? they kicked the rockets' ass moron... and ya i totally agree wit u Ashwin. I hate Jerry Sloan. but whatever. pimpdagame is a dick and he knows it.

  • i mean i wish for the best for the jazz
