Why is it taking so long to release an ARMbook with Ubuntu? All I see is Android and it can never ever be a full fledged desktop OS!!! Ubuntu FTW!!!! :)
Let's hope that Ubuntu on ARM will have proper (read: better) Power Management in place. It would be a joke if these ARM machines end up being power soakers.
one things clear they kick efika'a arse, its a shame they squandered their efika lead for so long, so we now have A9 dual and quad core coming out our ear's this year YAY
Excellent, About bloody time too, We`ve been waiting for what seems like ages for decent ARM netbooks, Laptops and tablets to appear. Open the floodgates :-D
My good old Asus laptop with a PIII Celeron@1.1GHz CPU runs the beasty OpenOffice fine on a well optimized Linux (Puppy), I do believe that new ARM processors can do better.
@rayman1104 No its not excess, for Linux at least. You can use it for various window manager functions, music player shortcuts, possibilities are endless :P
@RTPSEV I kown time is money and the iMacPhoneBookPad is a lot faster and blahblah, but beside the wow factor does it really make difference that the load time of a website 5 seconds instead 1?
@attilatoth100 think about that for a second: if on an iDevice a webpage load in one sec, and on these clonePads the same page loads in 5 secs, its FIVE times more. Think about how much time you'll lose waiting for something to happen on your clonePad in terms of days and weeks... ;)
@rhobson Well, I usually READ web pages which you know takes much more time than hoping from pages to pages as tech bloggers do in their so called reviews. So for me wasting couple of seconds during loading of a page is totally irrelevant regarding usability of the device.

prophecy: Arm architecture will dominate the pc world in the future and heres some reasons why,
1:low cost to manufacture
2:architecture can be licensed by competitors(no more locked markets like intel)
3:ARM has been the most used arch for years and constitutes the majority of microprocessor architectures worldwide already.
4:energy efficiency and thus lower core temperatures allowing greater scalability for overclockers.
Those are the most relevant facts. ARM will win. its inevitable...

there is also a multi processor chip that will support this called ' LEG', i hear its going to be expensive if you want both..........

Interesting! I've never heard of ARM nor Nufront, so I guess both companies need to send flowers to Canonical ;)

Finally something other than the 33-year-old i386 architecture!
LMB222 1 year ago
@LMB222 upboated! ... but technically, I think you are referring to the x86 or 8088 architecture that is 30+ years old.
bummers 10 months ago
@bummers Sure, my mistake. i386 AFAIR dates to 1986, and i586 to the 90's. Then there's x86-64, yet another addition.
What I meant is that there's an alternative to an architecture that is full of caveats and requires a multitude of voltage supplies.
