In the ancient yoruba days there was nothing like best drummer, singer or hunter because it is a taboo to claim superiory. So what we had were great drummers, hunters and singers. So stop saying Rasaki is the best talkng drummer cos there can be som people far better than him in the villages but as I said we don't compete,
"dis modda has gone" with the nicest smile of the world, and by the way he brings all that music theory at the point. Look out, teachers! Dieser Mann ist beneidenswert.
honestly, Rasaki Aladokun is simply the best talking drum player ever in the yoruba music industry. why? those who plays close to what he plays are people like Simioni who played for Ebenezer Obey, Maja Peters (Shina Peters cousin), Ayanlola, Ayan Bisi Adeleke among others. he´s simply the best because of his timing and accuracy, then plays to the musical key notes along sides with other instruments like guitars, keyboards etc. he made talking drum more greater than what it was...great master.
This guy is trying but so far the best talking drum player in Nigeria is Gbenga Adegbola in Ibadan
Ask anyone about Gbenga Adegbola in Ibadan you will be surprised when you hear him. I witnessed him the last time I travelled to Nigeria. If this guy plays, you will dance yourself until you pass out.
who's the KNOBHEAD who asked"is he stoned"???NOT EVERY MUSICIAN OR BLACK MUSICIAN ESPECIALLY,HAS TO BE STONED TO PERFORM!!!thats so ignorant of you!!!!
Rasaki Aladokun single-handedly changed the orientation of Sunny Ade's music -- and of juju music in general -- from a guitar-based orchestra to a talking drum-driven one, from 1987, with "Let Them Say". Whether for good or ill I really am not able to say, frankly. He is the most accomplished drummer in the juju music tradition, but the new fuji drummers have gone well beyond him. His father was a famous magician and entertainer who used to tour Yorubaland with his acrobats & musicians.
